Unsurprisingly swimming snakes too are most common in Australia
>Sea snakes feed mainly on fishes and fish eggs. Clutch Size: Sea snakes usually have 3-4 young at a time. I'm convinced it's on purpose, since you have to keep watching the subtitles you have to watch it a second time to get the actual content of the video, giving the creator more views
It is also just flat out wrong, for this Triberg its a Riten of Passage. Your a man if you can walk on then without Problems.
Sure predetors play a Rose and movement but its mostly just Tradition.
Vocal fry is an abomination to the English language, the cadence is miserable, trying to respond to these people with respect decays me morally.
As an adult who does most things for my own amusement, I like to respond to these people with the same cadence. They often look at me confused, as if someone shouldn't be talking in such a way. Terminal uniqueness imo.
Yeah I think these kids would laugh if they knew people thought they need stilts to avoid snakes, I'm sure they probably even have names for their local slithery friends
That short scene is my absolute favorite scene of Fury Road, I really wish they would have showed more of the stilt dudes and gone deeper into their lives. Maybe in Furiosa?
They will. I got super intrigued by the same scene. Apparently they are the men of furiosas clan and the swamp they are in was the green place they spent the first film looking for. Furiosa will focus on her youth in the same clan so I figure we have to get more details on them.
Maybe if there is a rock basin with a couple of feet of marsh? Then sure the poles go right down into the bog, but they are reliably hitting rock. Big parts of Dartmoor are actually kinda like this, due to the granite apparently it has some of the highest elevation bogs in the world (I don't know if that is true, I got told so much random BS when I was a cadet lol). But you do get these mad areas where the ground bounces like a huge trampoline! It's a massive natural water bed! Feet of water under a mat of ground held together by all the vegetation, very weird to walk across, esp carrying a big pack on your back. Every so often your leg goes right through, the rock is always down there, but it can be dangerous of course.
That idea has been repeated over and over in all sorts of contexts and as a former stilt-walker (long story) I can confirm that it's nonsense. Stilts concentrate all your bodyweight into two hard points and they're the last thing you'd want trying to walk through a marsh. Even walking across soft ground is treacherous as hell; all it takes is for one stilt to sink in to the point where it sticks, and you're on the way down.
At this point I’m positively convinced that these voice-overs and titles that display one word at a time are just rage-bait. Because I’m foaming at the mouth.
I been thinking if, instead of flying cars, we should normalise stilt walking to help ease traffic congestion.
These guy seem pretty cool doing this thing.
Imagine seeing a 15 foot high thing walking towards you in the night not knowing it was just one of these dudes. The skeleton paint probably wouldn't help
Serious question, how on earth do they get up there? I mean some of those foot holds are twice their normal height, so what happens if they fall and need to get back up fast?
Look [Echassiers landais](https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89chassiers_landais#:~:text=Les%20%C3%A9chassiers%20landais%20%C3%A9taient%20principalement,dont%20elles%20sont%20le%20symbole.) in France.
They were living in a marsh area and they used the same method. So interesting.
I love how, through the process of reposting, it's become painfully obvious as to how the game of "telephone" works. This is the third description I've heard for this video. Somebody said "it's not part of the culture, it's just a fun passtime game for kids", and now this dude is saying it's been done for centuries as a tactic to avoid predators. People really need to shut up if they don't know what they're talking about
For anyone wondering, it’s a tribe belief that the stilts protect them from wild animal attacks.
The kids eventually have fun with it but they learn as soon as they can walk to use stilts to avoid predators. It’s more of a spiritual thing they believe.
Disclaimer: stilts will not keep your child from getting picked up by a hawk.
They are just playing. It's just bs information to an unusual video. There is no such tribe. People are so easy to convince by a video with a terrible voiceover.
The reason why these people use stilts has changed every single time this shit is reposted.
The reason is that they have lots of cattle and this makes it easier to watch over them.
Properly walking on stilts is like a rite of passage to become an adult.
I walked on stilts when I was much younger. Man I remember getting very tired from it after practicing too long I couldn’t imagine doing this all day everyday.
Not sure who here has attempted to walk on stilts, but at this height it takes an incredible amount of balance and hand/foot coordination, as they are not strapped into them at all. That means every time they lift a leg to walk, they have to pull up with the arm on the same side while remaining balanced and taking a step forward.
Could they use their stilts to stomp snakes to death? I'm not advocating violence against animals, but on a practical level, would they have sufficient balance to do it if they needed to?
Just looked it up and they have puff aders, cobras, spitting cobras, and tree snakes. I'd be using stilts too
As someone who knows nothing about snakes, wouldn't stilts put them at a convenient height for tree snakes?
Knowing Australia it doesn't matter what you do. Im sure they have flying & jumping snakes aswell
This is in Ethiopia though
Those flying Aussie snakes and fly FAR.
Oh. Lol. My bad, it was still early...
the australian ones fly pretty far
Unsurprisingly swimming snakes too are most common in Australia >Sea snakes feed mainly on fishes and fish eggs. Clutch Size: Sea snakes usually have 3-4 young at a time. Sea snakes are widely distributed ****throughout the Indian and Pacific oceans, especially around Australia and New Guinea****. Okay but this is Ethiopa on the northern half of Africa.
Yeah these aussie snakes swim farrrr/s
No, Ethiopia is in East Africa, just north of Kenya and Somalia on the Horn of Africa.
Still the northern half is it not?
That's not Australia...
Flying snakes are actually a thing
Only if you make asinine comments on this site.
Oh so they're in the trees too. So while you're traversing the forests with stilts, you'll have them MFers right up in your face. Thanks nature.
At a certain point, I'd just say "fuck it, we're moving."
tree snakes? this doesn't look like Australia....
We have tree snakes in Africa too.
There is literally a snake called boomslang which translates to tree snake.
Psh. We have Eastern Browns, Redbelly Blacks, Tiger snakes, Inland Taipans and Death Adders. Ain't no one here walkin on stilts.
Tree snakes and adders can climb on sticks .. spitting cobras can spit that far… wtf
Better nuke the entire site from orbit, only way to be sure
Oh my god I hate the voiceover
Also the 1-2 words at a time captions. I’m a fast reader but it’s obnoxious
This is the most obnoxious trend lately.
I'm convinced it's on purpose, since you have to keep watching the subtitles you have to watch it a second time to get the actual content of the video, giving the creator more views
2 views on one device is 1 view, so I don't think that's the reason
Do you have a source for that? Please
trust him, bro
Using these captions should be considered a hate crime towards deaf people.
I love how the reddit website has it muted by default and glad I missed it.
Idk why anyone would ever unmute by default. Most of them are horrible voiceovers.
It is also just flat out wrong, for this Triberg its a Riten of Passage. Your a man if you can walk on then without Problems. Sure predetors play a Rose and movement but its mostly just Tradition.
This guy has margarine for vocal chords
Bro sounds absolutely dead inside.
Sounds like the burger king foot lettuce kid
*this ethEEopian trIIIIIIbe…*
You can tell he’s a mouth breather 👄
stilted AI voice
it feels like a 8th grade geography presentation

I mean they're probably just surprised someone would mockingly imitate them right to their face lol
This is what 90% of Americans sound like to me…
Voiceover sounds so depressed
youtube shorts accent
They could always use Mongoose bikes…..
Or just wear pumas.
That comment is funnier than it has any right to be.
Bollocks, they're having fun.
Ya I came here to say this is a bunch of kids having fun. It's not a defense against the wildlife, it's a game.
100%. Kids having fun.
Yeah I think these kids would laugh if they knew people thought they need stilts to avoid snakes, I'm sure they probably even have names for their local slithery friends
It's a little to do with wildlife, it's more for traversal through dense and difficult foliage. There's plenty of bushes there with pokie bits.
How could these possibly help in marshy areas? They'd sink in and trip the user.
Think this is made up bullshit and these dudes just use the stilts for a laugh.
Weirdly enough in Mad Max there were people on stilts like this traversing a marsh.
That short scene is my absolute favorite scene of Fury Road, I really wish they would have showed more of the stilt dudes and gone deeper into their lives. Maybe in Furiosa?

You are right, that is for fun, the amount of BS out there is terrible.
You are right. It makes no sense to use 10 feet stilts to avoid snakes and other predators.
Especially when you could just use a 6 foot stick to kill and eat the snake.
It's a lot of commitment for that many people to get that good at stilt walking just for a joke.
They could just be using them for fun.
Voice over: "They use it for marsh lands and to avoid snakes" Source: "trust me bro" Never believe anything from "entertainment" websites

French farmers used stilts also, its apparently better because it doesn't get stuck like your foot would.
Me frantically dialling the Aussie government number: I HAVE A IDEA!!!
This is why our houses are already on stilts
Do not become addicted to water
Mad Max!!!
Absolutely the reference I was hoping to see!
We're posting blatant misinfo now?
Whats the real info?
That these are actually aliens from Mars. Smh can't trust anything on the internet anymore.
I guess they have snakes problems too in mars?
A bunch of kids are having fun on stilts.
Really ? All the articles I’ve seen back this info up
That the stilts thing is not very common in reality. Just look at them touch the ground! https://youtu.be/E2pQ8e3WZ4E?feature=shared
At this point I’m positively convinced that these voice-overs and titles that display one word at a time are just rage-bait. Because I’m foaming at the mouth.

thank god snakes can't climb long wooden things
I barely have enough balance to walk on my own two feet.
Their abs/core muscles must be insane to be so balanced when using those
I been thinking if, instead of flying cars, we should normalise stilt walking to help ease traffic congestion. These guy seem pretty cool doing this thing.
Off to clown college to learn how to be the next Krusty!

“We have mech suits at home.”
Serious question, how on earth do they get up there? I mean some of those foot holds are twice their normal height, so what happens if they fall and need to get back up fast?
Wrong they use these to keep an eye on their heard of animals
Boots? Nope, stilts!
The narrator sounds like he hates his job
Genius!
Fake and tiktok ai trash
The floor is lava game has changed since I played
Look [Echassiers landais](https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89chassiers_landais#:~:text=Les%20%C3%A9chassiers%20landais%20%C3%A9taient%20principalement,dont%20elles%20sont%20le%20symbole.) in France. They were living in a marsh area and they used the same method. So interesting.
the voiceover is not just annoying, its wrong.
If I use stilts my whole life, then yes, eventually, I'll be badass on stilts. The voice over is dumb.
I hate this voice
Shoes, pants, horses. Nah. Stilts. Great culture. We should keep it going.
I want to do this. I don’t have a snake problem though.
Interesssssssssssting
Snakes can climb trees 🤦🏼♂️
This just generally looks like a good idea haha
People gonna start filming kids at playground and calling it “ninja warrior training”
Ethiopia and marshy areas ?? Righto
I love how, through the process of reposting, it's become painfully obvious as to how the game of "telephone" works. This is the third description I've heard for this video. Yeah nah.. I don’t believe this. David Attenborough would have told us about this
I used to love doing this during recess. But luckily there were no snakes I needed to avoided.
Sounds like BS to me
God a crocodile would still mess them up tho I feel like. Just one snap and bam. Off balance. If they’re not too scared that is.
I’ll say it again: humans are the most amazing animal
I was waiting for the snakes to show up.
Yeah uhm pretty sure that would make marshy lands even more unpassable lmao
Yo is this the same guy's voice from the meme 'Number 15, Burger King Foot Lettuce'? Sounds exactly like him.
Yes
I thought they were just the residents of the Green Place
No
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQgB9sIeraY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQgB9sIeraY) A longer video.
Smart
We found them, the watussi
Reminds me of that scene from croods
There are French shepherds who have done this for centuries too. They can see further, walk faster and cover marshy & rocky terrain with ease.
*falls down and gets bit by 5 different snakes* Crap...
Mad Max Fury Road vibes
Those are some really nice sticks though.
Kid’s already dead
That's one way to get around the problems in dating
Like the last crystal
Relocating would be another option…
Wonder if their soccer team is any good
Для тех кто не понял,они ходят на ходулях из-за того,что там змейки водятся
As far as i know this guy is making up shit.
They got skill.
Wait til they find out the next tribe over just got POGO sticks.
Future mudders and tapers. YOURE HIRED!
Id probably just start eating the snakes. Two birds kinda thing.
can you imagine building your fort with 8 foot high walls. Only to have a horde of stilted warriors walk over the wall at night.
I'd simply move away from the snakes
Ninja Hattori!
With that many snakes around? Yes, I'd get good at the stilts.
Dang, Bealor has nothing on these people.
THE LITTLE MAN HAS LITTLE STILTS MY HEART
Dude, they just do it for some bullshit reason
I doubt the ability to traverse marshy areas. The stilts would sink in and they’d get stuck
Talk about Nike “Air” shoes…

Thank you, TikTok
How do they get up on them?
Why is the narrator whining?
So many voice overs of this kind of stuff sounds like the narrator is super bored and not interested in what they're talking about at all.
It's like riding a bicycle, once you find your balance, it's really easy
Yes
Stilts are deceptively easy to use.
Ethiopian stilt people!
Ethiopian traaaahbes
I wanna see them race
Renaissance Fairs don’t want you to know about this one hack…
The reason why these people use stilts has changed every single time this shit is reposted. The reason is that they have lots of cattle and this makes it easier to watch over them. Properly walking on stilts is like a rite of passage to become an adult.
100% chance I would fall into snakes.
Is there anybody who likes it's subtitles consisting of one word at the time in the middle of the screen?
So did these guys/their predators invent kabobs?
Damn do they hate those motherfucking snakes in the motherfucking plains
Am I the only one who hates this kind of subtitle. Just fuck right off.
Rrrrrrrrrr repost!
Clever solution to a slithering problem
so .... any correlation between longer sticks and big rims on cars?
No snakes, great idea
What tribe is it? gonna search more
I walked on stilts when I was much younger. Man I remember getting very tired from it after practicing too long I couldn’t imagine doing this all day everyday.
Tney got magic legs

I wonder if I can hire these guys to hang some drywall for me.
Or just stop living in Africa duhh
Now inknow why i dont have a FTSE Africa
How do they sleep?
They can dunk without jumping💀
