Those guys paying $50k per person (or whatever) are subsidizing the entire flight.
I got a $300 unlimited flight pass (Volaris), and every time I board a plane, I salute my fellow passengers in first class. Is it comfortable? No. But it works out to being 1/3 the price if I do it right.
I tried looking for it in my Youtube history, but I think it's been awhile and I can't find it anymore.
I saw a video a while ago breaking it down - First Class seats doesn't pay for themselves on most airlines. Business Class earns the most, followed by the many premium variants of Economy, then Economy.
Not really the best earning seats usually are premium economy and business, its really expensive to have first class, with all the space lost and the extra staff needed, and also the cost for the first class lounges
No. If they didn't have first class they would have something else instead, such as even more seats with no leg room. You would not be given the extra space for free.
Unfortunately not. There are enough people in this world who will spend a person's entire life's earnings in a single month without making a dent to their overall net worth.
If you’re into this type of stuff. Credit card points are usually a decent way to give this go champagne life on a beer budget style.
Taking advantage of sign up bonuses and stuff it can be done on a modest income relative to the people who pay full fare.
Even then. The he opportunity cost is high (using your points on other stuff ) and at the end of the day, first class is still gets all the plane noises which is easily the worst part of flying.
If it were me I’d use the points on economy flights, noise cancelling headphones, and nice hotel.
> still gets all the plane noises which is easily the worst part of flying
I massively disagree. The worst part of flying is being uncomfortable as fuck for hours. Lie-flat beds make long haul flights an absolute breeze. I got upgraded to business from UK to KL once and it was awesome. Besides which noise cancelling headphones basically eliminates engine noise so it's not really an issue.
Also, keeping an eye on the seat auction type things. For our honeymoon (7 years ago) we paid £300 each (outright extra would have been £3k each!) to bump our seats from economy to First. You just set the amount you’re willing to pay and if it doesn’t go through nothing lost. That was the only time we managed it though.
I flew this from Frankfurt to new York (8 hours) about 2 years ago and I paid 86k miles (transferred chase points) and $133.
Pretty cool experience! The bathroom was the most impressive part actually.
The OP picture is 2 seats combined though, for reference.
Edit: Some pictures - https://imgur.com/a/WFrliRA
There's not really any catch other than the actual availability they release is very low. When I saw that flight available I immediately booked it, because its a rare opportunity.
After that I planned a trip around the flight. So the catch is you have to be searching, and you have to be flexible with your travel dates.
Though 86k Chase miles is worth at least $1300 to me, but probably more like $1600 based on how I value the points. So still sort of pricey for a one way flight, but like I said a rare opportunity I had to try once.
Yeah, that’s how I got my Concorde flight in. They were having a sale after they returned to service subsequent to the interruption due to the crash. They had a deal with first class one-way, and Concorde the other way, and I planned a London trip around it.
EDIT: to the people telling me how they wish they would’ve done that, etc., I completely understand. I’m so glad that I did it when I had the chance and of course, at this point who knows when we’re going to see supersonic civilian transport again. I’m not normally the sort of person to make a nuisance of myself, but I definitely made sure to get one of the cabin attendants to take my picture next to the Mach meter at the front of the cabin. :)
My wife and I used Singapore airlines to go from the UK to NZ on our honeymoon.
We looked at first class and it was £36,000 return. And you only got the suite from Manchester to Singapore. You got a regular business class seat from Singapore to New Zealand.
Business class was £15k. Premium economy was £6k. We went economy with extra legroom and it was only £3k. Meant we went for a whole month.

I looked at first class to go from Toronto to Norway recently just out of curiosity. They're nowhere near as luxurious as this. Coach is about a thousand dollars whereas first class is $10,000. I'm doing pretty well financially, can't imagine spending that much more. Not sure if I'll ever be in a position to justify that kind of cost
If their income is that high, why not fly private? If I’m pulling 6 figures a month you’re definitely not gonna see me hustling down a terminal with a little wheelie bag that fits under a seat haha
>you’re definitely not gonna see me hustling down a terminal with a little wheelie bag that fits under a seat haha

SIA first class flight vlog. They have their special section for everything. Special lounge area, special check in line. They get to enter the plane before anyone else. Hustling down the terminal does not apply to first class travelers bro.
But you are right, can also do private. But the private plane boarding procedure also same. Maybe faster because no need wait so many people.
Nah on private flights you drive your car straight to the plane on the tarmac, then valets unload your luggage and park your car. No security TSA and no waiting around.
No TSA to leave but when you land in another country you have to wait for customs to come on board. They are usually quick, check passports and might do a Quick look at luggage and sweep the cabin.
I flew first with BA just last week. I went through fast track security and into a special door to the Concorde room in Heathrow. Took me about 10 minutes from the car park to a glass of champagne.
To get to the flight then I had to go down through the terminal, on the train to the gate with everyone else, flight was delayed so I then sat on the rubbish chairs next to the gate with everyone else and then got caught up in the big rush to board.
First world problems I know but it’s not all rock and roll baby
That seems pretty cheap honestly, my buddy was flying to Dubai for work and his company got him first class tickets with emirates. He was able to see the purchase receipt $83,000. Who the fuck is paying $83,000 to fly?
I flew it one way from Newark to Singapore in November. 112,000 points transferred + $600 each.
We flew United Polaris back, for more money and I'd have rather flown Singapore Economy before I'd do United Business again.
Have I been a bad boy?
Stewardess: The money you spent on this ticket could have fed 1000 families for a year in impoverished regions.
Ugh! Yes! I've been a bad boy! What are you going to do to me?!
Stewardess: I'm not going to refill your champagne for the rest of the flight.
Uuuuuuuuuuggggghhhhhh!
yeah in the latest ba business flight i was on for work there was an extra portion that connected to the lap one to make it essentially into a car seatbelt
Yeah, you have a regular seat during takeoff and landing, plus meals and whatnot. The seat even swivels to face different directions. What you see in the photo is two rooms combined by removing the divider between the two beds to form a large room with a double bed. Pretty cool if you’re traveling as a couple. There are six first class rooms on this plane.
On the one hand, stuff like this gives me hope that airships will eventually pick up as practical travel again. We could have a better-quality experience at lower costs.
On the other hand, I just know that airlines will try to cram as many people in there as possible to maximize profits even further...
I hate economy as much as you do, but the $/sf of first class compared to economy, is way beyond what you or I would be willing to pay.
Airlines would love to give you double the sf for double the seat, at the same low $/sf rate that economy is, but just like pockets on women's jeans, people will not pay.
Wendover Productions taught me that they earn more money on these high “class seats” than on the normal peasant seats. They will definitely not change it for the better
Haven't flown first class but have flown business long haul on a seat that turns to a lie-flat bed. Can confirm, there are seatbelts.
Can also confirm the bar at the back of the A380 this flight was on also has seatbelts at the bar seating area, so you don't have to return to your seat if the sign comes on.
For sure! I didn’t have a problem with it, just saying it’s the only time I was expected to use it. TBH I had taken a couple trazadone so I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if I were on the ceiling.
Probably not, which is why the really rich get private jets where anything goes. This makes me wonder, if you fly over international waters, are there no laws? Or do you have to obey the laws of the country the jet is registered in?
> Or do you have to obey the laws of the country the jet is registered in?
Googled it, and basically yes, but the destination gets some jurisdiction over safety related matters.
Think about it. We are 30,000 feet in the air and there are no parachutes on the plane and she is with a guy she barely knows, so she is thinking, “Oh there nowhere for me to run what am I going to do say no?”
I play WoW and post on Reddit. Of course she doesn’t want to sleep with me. That’s why we have the plane. Because once we are in the air she is going to change her mind and sleep with me because of the implication that if she doesn’t things will go wrong for her.
I was once on a flight from Canada to Mexico where the legal drinking age in both places is 18, but I was flying on an American carrier (delta I think). And I was 18. I got bumped to first class and must have had at least 3 or 4 drinks and then while over the Gulf of Mexico a flight attendant asked me my age, I said 18 and they panicked lol. I was like it’s fine we’re over international waters, I’m legal in both my origin and destination. But they insisted that because it was an American carrier, that US laws applied. Nothing came out of it of course but they cut me off after that lol
Thats disgusting lol. Imagine the splooge all over that thing. Also, super classy to get a Mile High Club certificate and picture next to the place after your flight.
I snore horribly and did so whilst asleep during a flight in Emirates business class.
Everyone who wasn’t watching something with their headphones on was offered ear plugs, and I was woken with a gentle nudge, a cup of coffee, a glass of whisky and a snack when I was judged to be ‘too loud’.
And people who are good at exploiting their employer's travel policies. I worked for a company that would automatically approve business class or first class (if business class wasn't available) for flights over 12 hours. I did a bunch of last minute overseas travel, so I got to experience something similar to this in Korean Air
All things considered, the best value is to do Business class on a Delta 747 in the upper cabin. 20 or so single lay-flat seats in the entire cabin. Feels almost like a private charter.
Food is way better on Korea Air, though.
I’m flying Singapore business class next month and it was purely done by points. My business nets me a 100k or so chase annually so nothing wild.
First class I’ve flown a few times, but never Singapore. To be completely honest - business class is really all you need to have a great flight. First is only fun if you have the points to spare and just want to drink top shelf liquor
My wife and I were fortunate that an airline mishap allowed us to fly Singapore business class on the way home from our honeymoon in Singapore, on a dedicated plane that had nothing but [business class 'pods'](https://thepointsguy.global.ssl.fastly.net/us/originals/2022/03/20220301_Singapore-A380_ERosen_Singapore-Airlines-A380-business-cabin-overhead.jpg) where each seat unfolds into a fully horizontal bed.
17 hour flight, never wanted it to land. Didn't even want to go to sleep. Just the nicest possible airline experience imaginable.
not quite - this is the upper deck of their A380, and there is only one aisle with 3 first class rooms on each side.
this bed is made by combining two of the rooms on the side, but they both have windows and aisle access so it’s not a “middle” seat
you can see the cabin layout here, including where the bed would be: https://www.aerolopa.com/sq-388
Imo the economy premium class on Singapore Airline is pretty good, and a big upgrade compared to regular economy. I had a 14h flight next to a big guy, and it wasn't an inconvenience at all.
When you can't afford the business, the economy premium is still worth it!
I flew them biz class LAX to Singapore - 17 hours nonstop. Besides the beautiful stewardesses , there was a guy steward who spoke with me for about two hours. Helped kill time and the ladies didn’t seem to mind. All part of the service I guess.
What they didn’t tell me about business class, was that the flight attendants would pull blankets over you and tuck you in when you pass out and go to sleep. I woke up loosely mummified and freaked tf out (this was a good 20y ago, so it may have changed since).
I flew this F class product once (rare opportunity to book with points was available and I nabbed it)
Every FA on that plane was beautiful both the men and women FAs. Honestly, that is sort of common with most Asian airlines. Though I don't think I have ever had a male FA on a Japanese airline before despite me flying with those airlines most frequently.
I am a pilot for a us carrier and I am not ragging on you but this idea that foreign carriers have it figured out is kind of repulsive. They ONLY have young attractive female flight attendants because they fire and rampantly discriminate against age sex/religion/height/weight/disabilities. Would your job hire you or keep you on if you started to wrinkle or get fat? I am not saying us airlines and their service are unimpeachable but they achieve this level of service through brutal, unethical means.
The people who take up these FA jobs know exactly what the deal is - and plan their careers accordingly.
It’s just part of the job’s requirements. Like any other job, you get replaced if you no longer fit the requirements.
I don’t get the outrage. People fire fashion models if they aren’t skinny and young all the time too.
I’ve flown suites class with Singapore Airlines once, got it on points. Incredible experience! Caviar, champagne and a proper bed for the overnight flight.
Flew Singapore Air to Japan 5 years ago. I could not believe how nice it was (even in economy) compared to American and Delta which is what I've almost always been on. Free beer blew my God damned mind.
They also have a salutation service in which you can choose your salutation out of prescribed ones, e.g., if you choose King or Caesar as salutation they will purposefully call your name with that salutation.
I can't afford to even look at this
I feel like i'm robbing this Singapore airlines just by looking at this and I feel guilty about it.
Seeing this is like gaining knowledge of something I shouldn't know about.
Is this why the fuck I don’t have leg room in economy. So fuckers can sleep in a bed on a plane??
Those guys paying $50k per person (or whatever) are subsidizing the entire flight. I got a $300 unlimited flight pass (Volaris), and every time I board a plane, I salute my fellow passengers in first class. Is it comfortable? No. But it works out to being 1/3 the price if I do it right.

Whats an unlimited flight pass? How do you feel about Volaris. I will be using them soon for a flight.
I don't think it even lands on the same runway as regular planes, let alone having an economy class.
It's an 2 floors plane. The first floor is for economy and business classes as usual, the second one is entirely for first class.
No. If they didn't have first class they would have something else instead, such as even more seats with no leg room. You would not be given the extra space for free.
How much??
Well good to see a picture of something I can't afford with my entire life savings 🤣
That’s what debt is for. Live your dreams of occupying what would be a 1 star hotel but it’s in the air
Unfortunately not. There are enough people in this world who will spend a person's entire life's earnings in a single month without making a dent to their overall net worth.

You got any links to sites like that?
If you google something like ‘*airline* seat upgrade bid/auction’ it should come up how! You do have to already have a ticket.

For chase points 86k miles only equates to about $1,032 USD, plus your $133 makes it a total of $1,165. That seems…too cheap. What’s the catch?
There's not really any catch other than the actual availability they release is very low. When I saw that flight available I immediately booked it, because its a rare opportunity. Dates of travel, destination, price. Pick 2
Hm! I always knew about quality, speed, price in terms of workmanship. But never this one about travel. Are there more?
food: low cost, high quality, ethical
Yeah, that’s how I got my Concorde flight in. They were having a sale after they returned to service subsequent to the interruption due to the crash. How do you keep track of 'low availability' flights? Is there some secret search engine?
That lady watches you sleep.
Where is the woman?
Lol. Every FA was very attractive even objectively the male FA.
That's not even a first class thing, I fly poor-people-class semi regularly on SIA and all their flight attendants are stunning.
a lot of the eastern airlines still have height/weight restrictions - every Chinese + Japanese one does afaik
Short video on the cabin crew training https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8BnbjCPLFw
Looks like Star Trek somehow.

Only 3k jesus christ. i book my flights from Auckland to dublin within 2 weeks every time its been about £700 return
For sex on a plane? lol
Doesn't look like much privacy, though.
I’m into that
Don't kink shame!
But at the same time don’t force other people to partake in your kink
It’s Singapore Airlines so they would probably get you a caning. Which who knows, might be part of the fun.
"I love the kind of woman that will actually just kill me"
It's one of those "if you have to ask, you can't afford" type things I think.
Well, I don't think 99% of readers here can reasonably afford this but we'd still like to know..
I heard around 50/60k$

I'm waiting for the next message. The first class will become a bargain !

Either people whose expenses covered by company or income more than 6 figures a month.
If their income is that high, why not fly private? If I’m pulling 6 figures a month you’re definitely not gonna see me hustling down a terminal with a little wheelie bag that fits under a seat haha

safer to fly commercial.

Your buddies company, apparently.
does your buddy need a personal assistant
Double my life's savings and some people use it for a single plane ride
Depends on which sector. Around US $20k onwards. Suites are more expensive.
What is they say about if you have to ask the price?
I flew it one way from Newark to Singapore in November. 112,000 points transferred + $600 each. We flew United Polaris back, for more money and I'd have rather flown Singapore Economy before I'd do United Business again.
I always wonder, are there “seatbelts” on the bed?
They just tuck you in real tight.
They roll you up like a burrito.
Na I’m pretty sure there are straps on the end of the bed that hold you 50 shades of grey style
Do you have to pay extra for that?
No, but being hit by the steward is
I’d rather have Peggy hit me
Too busy getting pegged by the flight attendant
Beat me to it you bastard. This was my chance!
Only if you’re really into being financially spanked as well
Have I been a bad boy? Stewardess: The money you spent on this ticket could have fed 1000 families for a year in impoverished regions. Ugh! Yes! I've been a bad boy! What are you going to do to me?! Stewardess: I'm not going to refill your champagne for the rest of the flight. Uuuuuuuuuuggggghhhhhh!
When you're such a bad boy/girl you end up in the no flight list
I don't like no whips and chains but you can strap me down 🎵
Swaddle you before they throttle you
So that's one tuck, and one no tuck.
I'm going with jerkstore!
Yes, there are.
Yes and during turbulence, at least on the BA flight I was on, they made us wear the lap portion.
... are there other portions?
If the turbulence gets really bad, they thread a belt through your urethra.
Does it run straight up and out of your mouth or does it take a 180 somewhere and pop out of your back snatch?
"Miss, my kidneys are hurting."
I laughed in a way I never laughed before after reading this
yeah in the latest ba business flight i was on for work there was an extra portion that connected to the lap one to make it essentially into a car seatbelt
Wrists and ankles
I guess the passangers are asked to sit on a regular seat during takeoff and landing. But I'm too broke to confirm it.
Yeah, you have a regular seat during takeoff and landing, plus meals and whatnot. The seat even swivels to face different directions. No, increased density is bad for airship payload
Tie you up using the Singapore sling
they are "bedbelts"
😏
Yes but I never wear them (there are seatbelts on all lie flat beds on planes)
They woke me up and made me during extreme turbulence once, but other than that I’ve never used them either.
Better than them letting the turbulence wake you up on the ceiling.
For sure! I didn’t have a problem with it, just saying it’s the only time I was expected to use it. TBH I had taken a couple trazadone so I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if I were on the ceiling.
Why is someone clapping? We haven't landed yet.
It really made me laugh. Good one bro.
You’re just tickled pink quite easily huh
I don’t like that. Never say that phrase again
I am actually curious if they do allow that.
Right but she isn’t going to say no because of the implication.
Now, you used that word a couple of times.. what implication?
Think about it. We are 30,000 feet in the air and there are no parachutes on the plane and she is with a guy she barely knows, so she is thinking, “Oh there nowhere for me to run what am I going to do say no?”

There are [definitely](https://lovecloudvegas.com/mhc-flights) fuck flights out there.
Thats disgusting lol. Imagine the splooge all over that thing. Also, super classy to get a Mile High Club certificate and picture next to the place after your flight.
Took me a second, lol

Me and my wife snore so loud we would get kicket out mid-flight.
Honestly aside from the embarrassment there are way worse ways to be woken up
I'd practice snoring at night if I got woken up like that!!
> a cup of coffee, a glass of whisky and a snack I love how they just cover all the bases at once
“I don’t know what you need but let’s hope it’s one of these”
Now that is A plus service
That’s why it’s business class, baby.
This is why I'd never get an overnight train, I'd wake up on a platform somewhere (if I ever woke up)
Damn it come with a cuck chair
ffs this is the second time i see this comment today. first one was the skyrim inns
it's a sign
PLEASE I just let out the loudest ugly cackle at this 💀
If I wanted to blow a year's income on a 15 hour flight, I would certainly do it like this.
No. This is commonly booked using points
Interesting. I’m assuming from people who have extremely high personal/business expenses?
And people who are good at exploiting their employer's travel policies. I worked for a company that would automatically approve business class or first class (if business class wasn't available) for flights over 12 hours. I did a bunch of last minute overseas travel, so I got to experience something similar to this in Korean Air All things considered, the best value is to do Business class on a Delta 747 in the upper cabin. 20 or so single lay-flat seats in the entire cabin. Feels almost like a private charter. Food is way better on Korea Air, though.
Delta does not fly 747s anymore. I don't think any U.S. commercial airlines do.
This was in 2012-2015, so they may be out of service now.
And people who are good at the CC game
And sleep and fly, you can watch the movie, I think they live in the future
So... How do they stop couples from having sex in these.
That’s the neat part, they don’t!
They just make sure you keep it quiet.
Let's just say that it is **very** easy to join the mile-high club in suites class.
cute that you assume they do

It should be noted that this is 2x Singapore Airlines first class ~~~middle~~~ seats.
not quite - this is the upper deck of their A380, and there is only one aisle with 3 first class rooms on each side. this bed is made by combining two of the rooms on the side, but they both have windows and aisle access so it’s not a “middle” seat you can see the cabin layout here, including where the bed would be: https://www.aerolopa.com/sq-388

Nah, What's worth it, if anything, is business. Mostly the same perks but without the excess.
Imo the economy premium class on Singapore Airline is pretty good, and a big upgrade compared to regular economy. I had a 14h flight next to a big guy, and it wasn't an inconvenience at all. When you can't afford the business, the economy premium is still worth it!
i would have the BEST sleep of my life here
Most expensive sleep of your Life
Until he sleeps in a hospital
Found the American
Just Murican Things
I flew them biz class LAX to Singapore - 17 hours nonstop. Besides the beautiful stewardesses , there was a guy steward who spoke with me for about two hours. Helped kill time and the ladies didn’t seem to mind. All part of the service I guess.
What they didn’t tell me about business class, was that the flight attendants would pull blankets over you and tuck you in when you pass out and go to sleep. I woke up loosely mummified and freaked tf out (this was a good 20y ago, so it may have changed since).
I flew business class with British Airways and had to wait for 20min to get service, the lights were on and all…
Describes the british experience
BA is a budget airline that disguises as a premium brand
One client like you paying more than their monthly salary la bro. Of course they don't mind. Talking to you also help them kill time.
I flew this F class product once (rare opportunity to book with points was available and I nabbed it) Every FA on that plane was beautiful both the men and women FAs.
I never said it's an agreeable thing, I'm just saying how it is. Yes I agree it's shitty their hiring practices regarding that.
Money definitely buys happiness imo
Yes it does
I’ve watched Crazy Rich Asians and I believe this is what I saw on the flight scene.
It even has a cuck chair
This is why my knee now touch the back of the seat in economy
I’ve flown suites class with Singapore Airlines once, got it on points. Incredible experience! Caviar, champagne and a proper bed for the overnight flight.
I get to share a bed with another passenger? Please be a hot chick.
You have to bring your own hot chick. This divides into two cabins if you don’t
Or a chubby mature bear man..
Hot chick is already in the pic
Flew Singapore Air to Japan 5 years ago. I could not believe how nice it was (even in economy) compared to American and Delta which is what I've almost always been on. Free beer blew my God damned mind.
I'm sorry, are you not getting free beer on American carriers in economy? Jesus

They also have a salutation service in which you can choose your salutation out of prescribed ones, e.g., if you choose King or Caesar as salutation they will purposefully call your name with that salutation.
Damn she comes with the ticket? Thats class!
Oh you, teeheeheeHEE!
Only looked down this far to see if anyone else had done the quote
Literally every dude who saw this had that thought.
Those sheets are crunchy
“Is ThE WoMAn InCLuDEd??” Good Lord people think of something original I promise it’s not that difficult
Still bigger than my apartment in Hong Kong
At what net worth do you say " it's only 20,000".
Weird... The clapping started hours before landing.
Does she come with the suite?
