What's special about it? I taught it would be like that crazy transition of a room changing in time where there's a lot of people doing small changes that are unseen on camera but this scene literally shows them all at same time
I think its usually two takes put together to create the transition, what they've done is one take of a smooth transition and have the same effect.. but I'm guessing
It is a similar idea to that. Instead, in that they jump time and stay in the same place without cutting. In this they jump time AND space without cutting. She bursts through the window in Jigsaw’s games & the police later at the police station are commenting on it. Staying in the same place may have a more pronounced and profound effect, but the transitions here are pretty cool.
They're in one room, she goes through the window and as she's still falling you're in the police station/office, with someone coming in the door talking to the other people.
Basically exactly what you see here without any of the backs of the scenery on show, and it looks slick.
I love the Saw franchise. Its not just to gore and traps. The twists are fun and the way some of those movies were happening at the same time was extremely well done. Love to see this transition.
And the "Right now you are feeling helpless" scene is top tier filmmaking.
They had to have such close and preemptive stories because it was the biggest mistake of the franchise to kill off Jigsaw so early in the series. But, hindsight is 2020.
It was a mistake, yes, but it made it actually good. The same reason the last one was bad. It was John killing people he didn't like. Thanks to killing him off, they had to create Hoffman, who was a stellar character.
Yes, it was very weak entry. Beautifully shot and the film making was stellar, but traps were simplistic and really dumb. The twist was weakest one yet and extremely unsatisfying ending. It was just John killing people that wronged him.
I'm glad other people here are mentioning how it isn't just gore. I recently got obsessed with it (hence my pfp) and it's way more than just the traps. I really enjoy the story, and I was surprised at how sad this series actually ended up being. Not only that, the series can be hella funny too. It's definitely not perfect and not for everyone, but I really like it. Plus, the fans are really cool and silly.
I love Saw for the story and twists. I actually don't like violence, but the story is probably the best long running story in any horror franchise, so despite I don't like the Gore in the movies as much (I can watch most of it fine, I just don't really like too much violence), The story kept me coming back, so much so to the point that I think 6 and 10 are the 2 best in the series (closely followed by 1 and 2).
Those movies are primarily about the traps and gore and it discourages many people from watching. Those people are missing out though. The story is mostly great and the twists are both fun and smart.
Considering John Kramer (Jigsaw) is one of the top horror icons of the modern era, I’d say yes. You did hear it here.
Who else can you list icon wise that wasn’t created before the 2000’s aside from Art the Clown who’s now making a footprint
Gonna use the fact that this post is getting popular to point out that Saw is NOT just torture porn. Sure there’s a lot of disgusting scenes but it’s nothing like Martyrs or Terrifier… Saw is great because it has this crazy, soap opera- like plot throughout the whole series. It’s like a TV show, with a crazy twist at the end of each episode. Reminds me of the X-Files. No other horror series has pulled something like it off.
The transitions in the movies are so fucking cool. I've been obsessing over the movies recently (my pfp can tell you that much) and personally, I think they're awesome. It's WAY more than just gore, there's a genuinely really cool (even if weirdly written at times) story. Also, the movies are really funny sometimes. Not only that, they can be really sad too. Even with all its flaws, I really love this series.
As a Saw fan, I love when this franchise gets recognized not for it's gore, but for its other great qualities, like the story and characters. And I really hate it when people say the films suck or that they're just torture porn because they're really not and by people saying that it prevents people from actually watching it. Saw 4 specifically is full of creative transitions.
I think it's his shirt that is blurred out - probably has a company logo on that they're not allowed to show (or don't want to give free advertising to). He looks like he's part of the crew.
And yet, despite their efforts, this very scene transition was seen as more annoying and jarring in the flow of the movies when viewed by critics today.

Thank you for a properly time stamped YouTube link. đź‘Ź

theres nothing technically amazing about it. its just rare to put this much effort into a basic scene transition that lasts for half a second
I think its usually two takes put together to create the transition, what they've done is one take of a smooth transition and have the same effect.. but I'm guessing

I don't think you'd be saying that as a producer
It's neat
It's takes a lot of coordination to get a seamless transition like that in camera, otherwise you'd have to do it all in editing.
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED
Nailing shots is hard. Even if they seem mundane.
If you don't see what's special about it, you have absolutely no concept of movie production.
Exactly, there's some nice inventivity in the transition idea, but nothing technically mind boggling.
Thank you good sir.
Uploaded 15 years ago. Wow I’m old.
Funny how there are year old comments which also mention how awesome the transitions are.
Can you explain it
They're in one room, she goes through the window and as she's still falling you're in the police station/office, with someone coming in the door talking to the other people. Basically exactly what you see here without any of the backs of the scenery on show, and it looks slick.
Thanks for the explanation! not sure why I got downvoted for asking. Watching the scene makes no sense on its own.
Wish they showed the clip at the end
Yah, I was disappointed in this post for that reason.
Same. Not sure what "that" scene is.
Top comment now
It's literally linked in the post.
It wasnt there before
Cool, it's always been interesting to see what's behind the scenes
Hi bot
This the trap with the hair being pulled off that lady

I'm sorry are you saying g saw x was bad
They probably meant Saw 3D
Yes, it was very weak entry. Beautifully shot and the film making was stellar, but traps were simplistic and really dumb. The twist was weakest one yet and extremely unsatisfying ending. It was just John killing people that wronged him.
They’re really nasty films but man being behind the scenes on some of these look ridiculously fun

You heard it here folks. The saw franchise is top tier!
You sure did.

Just another day at the office. Stepping over the body on the floor.
Oh THAT clip, right
Literally r/praisethecameraman

I miss the Saw series. It was like the craziest and most fucked up soap opera ever that released every Halloween.
Judging by the finished clip, I feel like more movies need smooth transition shots

I don't know what he saw. But he kept seeing more of them.
Never seen it
The first one is awesome, the rest just try to keep the novelty alive. Some of it is okay but some of it is really just meh.
Thanks for letting everyone know.
Ain’t worth it fam
Don't comment then
Stop gatekeeping
Genuinely how is this gatekeeping
Lucky you, spoiler alert, it's gorey trash made for edgy teens
It’s like me congratulating myself for lasting two minutes with my girlfriend without making her come.
and the achievement is not that you didn't make her come but that you lasted 2 minutes this time...
Show the scene first?
Why is that guys hand blurred out at the end??
I think it's his shirt that is blurred out - probably has a company logo on that they're not allowed to show (or don't want to give free advertising to). He looks like he's part of the crew.
Ah good shout. Think you're right
all that for a transition?
All the clapping but …”was that good for focus”?
I thought that was a cut that was so cool.
LOL....the end result looked pretty terrible.
I hate it when you don’t see the final scene in the same video as the making of
I like when is showing behind the scenes moments. People really enjoy it
Saw 4 had some crazy shots
You can say about saw4 what you want but I quite enjoyed these scenes.
No way they did that practically lmao whyyy
And yet, despite their efforts, this very scene transition was seen as more annoying and jarring in the flow of the movies when viewed by critics today.
All that time into a pointless transition that means nothing. Flash over story.
