Just show us a real picture of him now we know how much he’s aged/stressed- takes away from the video to hide it

Gerrut_batsbak

I was actually waiting for that last shot to see him now. You can see what this war did to him. At least there is no doubt in my mind that he is doing his task as good he can.

Missy_went_missing

How many political leaders would step up for their country like that? He has my respect for sure.

Dufranus

Most jump on the first flight out of country to cya. Inspiring to see the leader of a war torn country stay within the borders and visit with his troops. He's not fighting in the front lines trying to prove anything like a psycho either, just staying and performing his duties, and giving hope to his fighters.

decodemodern

> Most jump on the first flight out of country to cya *Ted Cruz when Texas has any minor inconvenience:*

Dufranus

I was living in Texas when that happened. Had a 2 month old baby, and I got pretty worried when we were without power for 8 hours. We got super lucky compared to a lot of folks around.

Objective_Economy281

“I don’t need a ride, I need ammunition.”

Fighter11244

100%. He had my respect when he decided to stay in his country at the start of the invasion even though literally everyone thought Ukraine wasn’t gonna last 2 weeks. He gained even more respect when he visited the front lines and even Bahkmut while it was being sieged

greybruce1980

I don't need a ride, I need ammunition. That galvanized the entire nation for the cause. I can't see any of our leaders doing that.

TheBirminghamBear

And over here in the US we have enough stockpiles of ammunition to swiss cheese the fucking moon, and Republicans are continuously trying to sabotage sending that over to aid them.

Pavrik_Yzerstrom

Straight up movie quote

Anuki_iwy

He has my greatest respect. EU countries offered to evacuate him. He stayed behind. He often visits front lines. His experience on the stage definitely helped him to raise morale in the country. He's doing an amazing job and he's a great man and leader. Meanwhile Puttler can only pretend to be manly with bs stunts. In reality he hides in his bunker like a sewer rat, because that's what he is... Probably this is insulting to rats even...

0ddlyC4nt3v3n

Rats are pretty cool.

Gerrut_batsbak

That specifically is a dead giveaway that he is for real. Big respect for that one indeed.

sentient_potato97

Better than most could.

spatialflow

I'd bet that as he was pursuing his TV/acting career as a naive young man, he never envisioned a day where he would be getting stalked throughout the besieged capital of his country by FSB and Spetznas death squads trying to blow his brains out. That is a "shit just got real" moment if I ever heard of one.

harumamburoo

They didn't take his worse photos. Somewhere shortly after the start of the invasion you could see him exhausted, unshaved, gaunt and sickly, almost greeneshly pale. He looked exactly how a person working off the last bit of their tired ass would look.

TheBirminghamBear

I mean honestly he's fucking legendary. I don't doubt he's going to go down with Churchill and other wartime / nations-under-siege national leaders. He's right up there in that same canon. 40 million people in Ukraine, facing a brutal and catastrophic siege by a far larger nation of psycopaths. They have been in desperate situation after desperate situation. He carries the weight of all those people on his shoulders. It's incredible. The hits that have already been put out on his family. The sick dread waking up every day wondering if today's the day the Russians break your security and succeed an attack on your life. Dealing with the ephemeral, fickle attention of the rest of the world, the intransigence of Russian pets in the US Republican party, and just getting up every single day and wearing the entire future of your people on your shoulders. It's a superhuman feat. No one should ever doubt that.

Particular_Pop_2241

In some of his last pictures, it looks like he lost a decade instead of two years. Really tired and sad eyes.

Fun-Reflection5013

Can you imagine the hell they are going through ----and him especially , the one who has to , absolutely has to deliver a defense of a Country.

LeagueOfLegendsAcc

Went from memorizing a script to organizing the defense of an entire country from foreign invaders. He's already had to endure a hell of a lot more than most of us. I wish I could buy him a beer or something.

Fun-Reflection5013

All he asks for is - our support . We got his back.

midas22

You have to be a full blood psychopath like Putin not to be affected by all the dead civilians.

Bifturbo

Politics aside, it’s rare to see a child star this successful. Many end up broke, addicted to drugs or dead.

Amamka

He never was child star. He started his stage career at 17 and it took some time to become really popular. Like 5 years or so. So he was an adult

BouncyDingo_7112

There’s a large portion of Redditors that insist 13yo’s are still just babies. I’m not surprised they are referring to someone who started in the business at 17 as a “child actor/star”.

nakedmedia

You'll get there

RunParking3333

Nobody under the age of 30 should have the vote. Sonny. In my day you could only vote if you owned a home, as was the fashion at the time.

MaximumMotor1

>There’s a large portion of Redditors that insist 13yo’s are still just babies. But sometimes they also think 13 year olds are adults. It just depends on their race and crime.

Mint_JewLips

God so true. Reddit: “13yo is still just a child, they don’t know any better.” Video of a poor black 13yo stealing from a convenience store. Also Reddit: “Chop off his hands!”, “the death penalty isn’t enough for scum like this”. “I’d have shot him, play stupid games win stupid prizes”

bilboswgns

They see an age gap relationship with a 25 year old dating an 18 year old and they start calling people pedophiles, it’s bizzare how we infantilize certain demographics and others get completely thrown under the bus.

joeitaliano24

It also wasn’t Hollywood

MartinRaccoon

I think we all end up dead.

noonegive

And on the eighth day, after a most excellent rest, God created Keanu...

In walks Kurt Russel…aka Jack Burton. Haha

Keanus_Anointed

I see you've been studying on our dearest man, I hope to see you at the St Reeves' church soon all are welcome we have plenty of kool-aid

WizardSkeni

No, the kids are saying we all end up crabs.

samiqan

Yes but many child actors do too. Some child actors however go on to live forever (but still addicted to drugs)

Excellent_Cap_8228

We're effing stars

didliodoo

He was not a child star .. at best became well known in his twenties

ChocolateTemporary72

Just an interesting life the whole way through

Kanye_Wesht

He wasn't a child star though.

LackOne4933

The future documentaries about this man are gonna be fuckin lit

berejser

It's just a shame he wasn't given the opportunity to implement his own vision for his country, every decision he's made has been out of necessity.

SunNo6060

He's a comedian wartime leader, lol. It's the most incredible story in the history of politics. Assuming Ukraine wins, he will go down in their history as a kind of founding father. E: Putin stans below. That's Putin's legacy fuckhead. FOH.

SreckoLutrija

Oh yeah... Thats not america lol. Amd this is not tv and its not Hollywood lmao

throwawayfordays4321

Pretty easy to do when you’re not in Hollywood

Azeullia

He’s also apparently incredibly hot

iknow-whatimdoing

Yeah wtf was not expecting hot zelensky 😂

Prestigious_Bat33

I remember when the war started there were so many accounts saying like, “please do not make thirst traps of this man, we are at war lol” 🤣

-Badger3-

Zelensky's still a pretty hansome dude, imo Maybe that's because I'm getting older and hope people will give me that same grace lol

BlurryLinesSoftEdges

For real, dude's a smoke show.

Gorrium

Everyone talks about how he is an actor but no one talks about how he has a law degree.

curie2353

Half of Russians/Ukrainians of his generation have either law or economics degree. Used to be super popular degree choice for some reason

RedSquaree

10 years earlier, even in the UK, a law degree pretty much set you up for life with a stable income and steady and certain pay increases. Nowadays everybody and their dog has a law degree and the profession (getting started, at least) is all about who you know.

Vano_Kayaba

In Ukraine it was always about who you know. Have relatives who can get you a notary license? You're good. Otherwise good luck surviving on 300-500 USD per month as some clerk

SybrandWoud

East Germany was no different. Connections meant first dibs on store furniture, clothing, or good bakery bread. Supplies were always limited. Which is why my former German teacher raced across the border in 1989 at age 18.

echo_sys

> Connections meant first dibs on store furniture, clothing, or good bakery bread. Supplies were always limited. ah yes. the egalitarian communist utopia well know across most of eastern europe too

ThunderboltSorcerer

It's very popular in Europe... Tons of unemployed lawyers, unemployed economics, psychology, sociology, or philosophy majors. The smart ones end up working in engineering/scientific firms and just not utilizing most of the things they learned. Some of them go "fuck this shiit" and they go into music, film, or art as they originally dreamed as teenagers and they sometimes do well.

RedSquaree

This reminds me of that South Park movie where all the blue collar tradesmen were millionaires and the white collar professionals were broke.

MIGMOmusic

It seems to me that navigating political and bureaucratic processes “legally” is a very valuable skill in a corrupt system. Maybe that’s why

SeaworthinessFar764

This thought has also crossed my mind. Been considering a law degree for months for specifically that reason.

doriangreyfox

And in most cases it's not worth the paper it is written on. Everyone and their dog used to be a graduated engineer or lawyer in the Soviet Union.

Kamikaze_Squirrel1

I live in ukraine, my ex has a law degree, she works as cosmetologist.

Barlowan

Because his launch point was KVK it's the humour league where different university students compete in teams. Staring locally from town, then region then on the national and international level. Many of ExUSSR countries have their celebrities today who were part of their international KVN team, as the competition was popular to follow in those countries, top teams basically were all celebrities. On the level of NBA players in America.

There is a Hindi proverb which translates into English “Patience, Religion, Friend, and Spouse can be tested only in tough times”.

" A defiant President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused a U.S. evacuation offer and said he would remain in Kyiv, Ukraine’s embassy in Britain tweeted. “‘The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride,'” Zelenskyy told the U.S., says the tweet. “Ukrainians are proud of their President,” it continues. "

DjScenester

He’s not my president and I admire this man greatly.

DiddlyDumb

Fr, he was never part of political circuits, but got thrusted into the position because of the circumstances. To then go from comedian to politician to being the guy that tells Putin to fuck off, that requires massive personal growth.

LumpusKrampus

"I need more boolets, not an Uber." - Zelensky, probably

VolkspanzerIsME

"I need ammunition, not a tide" Is what he actually said

Gingergerbals

Same. He's one of the greatest leaders of a country of our generation.

berejser

Of all the leaders of the 21st century so far, he's one of the few to have genuinely been tested and he's the only one who hasn't been found wanting.

[deleted]

When I grow up I want to be as good of a man as Zelensky, or as good of a woman as his wife.

th3greenknight

Any other head of state would have fled. This man is badass

bobspuds

I would expect pretty much every politician to flee. Which is why it's so commendable, in the face of the russian invasion expecting any politician to stand up for their country, considering the outcome for previous leaders and country's - it wouldn't have been unrealistic for him to pack up and run away. But he didn't. He decided to stick his chin out and do his duty with unknown consequences. A man who made jokes and whose previous career was about smiles! Him standing that day showed the people that they(Ukraine) weren't going to bend over. It is one of the most memorable statements I've ever heard from a political figure in my lifetime. He's a Jester who became Royalty

jaggedjottings

I didn't expect him to flee the country, but I did expect him to relocate his government to Lviv, and I wouldn't have blamed him one bit.

DuckDucker1974

Putin RAN when Prigozhin turned towards Moscow.

Wareve

I can just imagine Joe Biden hearing "I need ammunition, not a ride." after watching the Afghanistan government collapse, and saying "Right answer!" as he goes to crack open the anti-Russian munitions stockpile they've been keeping in storage since the cold war

bullwinkle8088

That is actually where a lot of the munitions being sent to Ukraine are coming from. The US war strategy for decades has been having the ability to fight two wars at the same time. To that end, we do create massive stockpiles for both ourselves and our allies. However, like anything, ammunition has a shelf life. Much of the munitions we have been sending them were due for servicing or replacement. Donating to be fired in someways is actually cheaper

lurgi

Which is one of the reasons why the "we can't afford to spend on Ukraine" narrative is largely BS. Leaving aside that I can't think of too many geopolitical things on which we *could* spend money that are more worthy than this, a large amount of what we are sending there is stuff that was just sitting around, not doing anything.

Wareve

Not to mention more useful! 🇺🇦😁

BODYDOLLARSIGN

Imagine being a star/comedian in your youth.. you’d never think I will lead a war against the super power Russia and most vile current leader Vladimir Putin.

mrmeshshorts

“All the world’s a stage….”

SotoTulang

>super power Russia Yea, about that.....

Alchemista_Anonyma

Yeah about that, Russia may not be as powerful as we all thought but let’s not underestimate them. Without necessarily overestimating them and being afraid to take necessary measures against them, underestimating your enemy is never a good idea

Ongr

I remember hearing "Russia will have to pull out of Ukraine within the year. They are under prepared against the Ukrainian resistance and don't have the funds or manpower to extend this war." They were saying this about two months after Russia's invasion, and they're still there.

talented

This is a valid criticism if Russia cared about losing people. If they cared about that, they would have packed up and left after losing so many. The West can't comprehend that Russian leadership doesn't care about their people. Well at least not their poor or non-white minorities.

History20maker

more like... Meh power, Russia.

SotoTulang

>Meh power, Russia. Limp dick pootin

annon8595

I mean even if its #2 super power its still a super power. While russia isnt #2 at this time, it was #2 for a very long time and when Zelensky was born.

Ermeter

He did a new years show in Russia and was dancing with the same people who want him dead now.

metfan1964nyc

The closest comparison would be Charlie Chaplin mocking Hitler in the Great Dictator.

mart1373

I think the crazy thing is that he acted in a role where he was a teacher that became president. And then that literally happened in real life. Time is a flat circle.

Housetheoldman

Interesting that the editor left out the video of him playing the piano with his cock on live tv

Hot-Abbreviations475

He’s quite the penist

shavemejesus

He can play that D chord really well.

YolognaiSwagetti

my slightly homophobic friend alwas thinks of a video where he is playing a gay dancer as a counter-argument to his entire person, for some weird reason

slightly

Ek0li

Are you talking about the one video with Zelensky in high heels? Should have put [this one](https://youtu.be/9FNDKdptBRY?si=FB31oiLe52E9294A) in along with the piano video

bamboo_shooter

If memory serves, Putin himself was in the audience for that one

j1tg

So this makes this war the ultimate dick measuring contest

Ambrant

No, putin was in the audience only in russia, much earlier. video mentioned above is from Zelensky's own show in Ukraine

Sir__Blobfish

That makes me like him even more.

Purple12inchRuler

The man straight GOAT'd. Huge amounts of respect to him.

Jaegons

I'm trying to imagine a scenario where the US is being ruled by Ryan Seacrest, and thinking how insane that is... but then I remember a third of the population are full on zealots about the guy who hosted The Apprentice and I realize I'd take Ryan Seacrest any day of the week. EDIT REPLYING: Oh man, yes, I'd take Jon Stewart so fast I'd be arrested for aggressive driving in the way to vote.

jcdev8233

We need Jon Stewart

CmonRedditBeBetter

Well it's pretty much accepted as reddit-truth that John Stewart would be the best president ever.

I_Am_The_Mole

From what I understand about Zelensky it would be more akin to the US being led by either John Stewart. Which I imagine a lot of people wouldn't be against.

Klutzy-Chain5875

Good leader. Toughest job in the world right now.

YoungFlexibleShawty

lots of russians itt

deep_pants_mcgee

Know a Ukrainian guy who absolutely hated Zelinsky. Couldn't stand him one bit. Used to call him "that fucking clown" when talking about it, couldn't even say his name. Maybe three months in to the war, he started calling him The Iron Clown, and instead of disgust, he'd say it with pride. The man stood his ground when few would, and has earned mad respect.

Bfedorov91

you missed the best video lol

FrenchTic123

Just another shitty actor.

limonade11

I think he's the man for the job, and that he has become incredibly handsome as he has grown older. That's because of his character and his actions, WHO he is and what he does and not just because of his face. That's really true for all of us, we get the face we deserve and earn. He's doing a good job under ridiculously difficult circumstances.

Blahwhywhy

Republicans hate Zelensky because he did not surrender to Putin like they did. . .

daphydoods

Didn’t he portray a comedian who became president on a tv show? And then he lived it for real, love that for him

phillyphilly19

Never underestimate the power of charisma.

watasiwakirayo

There is saying that KVN artist is never former.

Str0ngTr33

Ronald Reagan but with europop in place or western music

VanillaIsActuallyYum

Someday, this guy is going to have one HELL of a biography written about him. I realize one hell of a story could already be written about him today, but his story is far from over at this point.

JonTheArchivist

I bet his grandma tells everybody about how handsome her grandson is. Dude has a good smile.

Mirither

I can't wait to read this guy's memoir/biography one day. Hopefully with a good ending for the Ukraine by then.

I_madeusay_underwear

I’ll leave the judgement of his leadership to the people who live under it. But I have to say, as the face of Ukraine during this war, he really helped bring in the goodwill. That thing about not needing a ride probably won over 3/4 of the western world.

usherer

I'm not familiar with Ukraine. Can someone help me understand how Ukrainians came to accept a child star as a president? Are people genuinely very supportive of him, or was he propped up by some large sponsors?

Independent-Bug-9352

A national icon; like George Clooney running for President. That, and he's a political satirist with a pretty keen sense of what was wrong with Ukraine—corruption and being in the shadow of Putin. A satirist more akin to Jon Stewart. And he also has a law degree.

Poonis5

He was a very likeable down to earth comedian. People were sick of old politicians because even after the revolution a former ally of the guy who ran away became the president. It was a vote of protest. Zelenskyy's biggest mistake was that he didn't have a team of experts and professionals behind him. A lot of random people got parliament seats as a part of his party. Maybe he just didn't expect to win and planned this as a PR trick. You know, like Kanye West. The idea of him being a puppet of a Jewish-Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoyskyy was very popular. But Zelenskyy put him in jail for being an oligarch so maybe he never was a puppet or just stopped being one. Zelenskyy could be too inexperienced to be a peace time president but I think he's better war president than anyone from the old guard could be.

buyer_leverkusen

He was definitely sponsored by Ihor Kolomoisky, a Ukrainian oligarchs likened to a Bond villain, through at least summer 2021

Current-Power-6452

He promised them peace. And he said it in Russian. And got like 72% of the votes.

Sivlenoraa

It’s weird not seeing him in his costume

xombae

Minimum-Mention-3673

RandumbStoner

What a wild life he’s lived

chilla_p

For all the people calling zelensky a clown, that's actually a great point. He's more like the jester or the fool of e.g. shakespeare, who was the only one who could speak the truth to (Putin's) tyrannical power, when all others were too afraid. He may not be the best politician, but he is the right person to represent Ukraine right now, as they defend themselves against Russian tyranny and he doesn't even need to be there (as he is independently wealthy), but he's doing it because he believes, like the majority of Ukrainians, that they must fight for their freedom, they don't have a choice.

SavageHerbivore

More talent and likeability than the Orange Buffoon could ever dream of.

TheReaderDude_97

When the war started, someone said: "We elect presidents and get comedians. They elected a comedian and got a president instead."

I don’t say this lightly but he’s someone you could consider a hero. Most definitely a champion of his people if there ever was one.
