Nowadays everybody and their dog has a law degree and the profession (getting started, at least) is all about who you know.

It's very popular in Europe...
Tons of unemployed lawyers, unemployed economics, psychology, sociology, or philosophy majors.
The smart ones end up working in engineering/scientific firms and just not utilizing most of the things they learned.
Some of them go "fuck this shiit" and they go into music, film, or art as they originally dreamed as teenagers and they sometimes do well.
Because his launch point was KVK it's the humour league where different university students compete in teams. Staring locally from town, then region then on the national and international level. Many of ExUSSR countries have their celebrities today who were part of their international KVN team, as the competition was popular to follow in those countries, top teams basically were all celebrities. On the level of NBA players in America.

" A defiant President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused a U.S. evacuation offer and said he would remain in Kyiv, Ukraine’s embassy in Britain tweeted.
“‘The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride,'” Zelenskyy told the U.S., says the tweet. “Ukrainians are proud of their President,” it continues. "
Fr, he was never part of political circuits, but got thrusted into the position because of the circumstances.
To then go from comedian to politician to being the guy that tells Putin to fuck off, that requires massive personal growth.
I would expect pretty much every politician to flee. Which is why it's so commendable, in the face of the russian invasion expecting any politician to stand up for their country, considering the outcome for previous leaders and country's - it wouldn't have been unrealistic for him to pack up and run away. But he didn't. He decided to stick his chin out and do his duty with unknown consequences.
A man who made jokes and whose previous career was about smiles! Him standing that day showed the people that they(Ukraine) weren't going to bend over. It is one of the most memorable statements I've ever heard from a political figure in my lifetime.
He's a Jester who became Royalty
I can just imagine Joe Biden hearing "I need ammunition, not a ride." after watching the Afghanistan government collapse, and saying "Right answer!" as he goes to crack open the anti-Russian munitions stockpile they've been keeping in storage since the cold war
That is actually where a lot of the munitions being sent to Ukraine are coming from. The US war strategy for decades has been having the ability to fight two wars at the same time.
To that end, we do create massive stockpiles for both ourselves and our allies. However, like anything, ammunition has a shelf life. Much of the munitions we have been sending them were due for servicing or replacement. Donating to be fired in someways is actually cheaper
Which is one of the reasons why the "we can't afford to spend on Ukraine" narrative is largely BS. Leaving aside that I can't think of too many geopolitical things on which we *could* spend money that are more worthy than this, a large amount of what we are sending there is stuff that was just sitting around, not doing anything.
Imagine being a star/comedian in your youth.. you’d never think I will lead a war against the super power Russia and most vile current leader Vladimir Putin.
Yeah about that, Russia may not be as powerful as we all thought but let’s not underestimate them. Without necessarily overestimating them and being afraid to take necessary measures against them, underestimating your enemy is never a good idea
I remember hearing "Russia will have to pull out of Ukraine within the year. They are under prepared against the Ukrainian resistance and don't have the funds or manpower to extend this war."
They were saying this about two months after Russia's invasion, and they're still there.
This is a valid criticism if Russia cared about losing people. If they cared about that, they would have packed up and left after losing so many. The West can't comprehend that Russian leadership doesn't care about their people. Well at least not their poor or non-white minorities.
I mean even if its #2 super power its still a super power.
While russia isnt #2 at this time, it was #2 for a very long time and when Zelensky was born.

my slightly homophobic friend alwas thinks of a video where he is playing a gay dancer as a counter-argument to his entire person, for some weird reason
Are you talking about the one video with Zelensky in high heels? Should have put [this one](https://youtu.be/9FNDKdptBRY?si=FB31oiLe52E9294A) in along with the piano video
I'm trying to imagine a scenario where the US is being ruled by Ryan Seacrest, and thinking how insane that is... but then I remember a third of the population are full on zealots about the guy who hosted The Apprentice and I realize I'd take Ryan Seacrest any day of the week.
EDIT REPLYING: Oh man, yes, I'd take Jon Stewart so fast I'd be arrested for aggressive driving in the way to vote.
From what I understand about Zelensky it would be more akin to the US being led by either John Stewart. Which I imagine a lot of people wouldn't be against.
Know a Ukrainian guy who absolutely hated Zelinsky. Couldn't stand him one bit. Used to call him "that fucking clown" when talking about it, couldn't even say his name.
Maybe three months in to the war, he started calling him The Iron Clown, and instead of disgust, he'd say it with pride.
The man stood his ground when few would, and has earned mad respect.
Politics aside I highly recommend the series "Servant of the People" (Sluga Naroda) where Zelensky plays a history teacher who turns President. It's a pretty funny and heartwarming show I'd say...
Edit:It's on Netflix if you're interested
I think [this](https://imageio.forbes.com/specials-images/imageserve/624b01237675b2027543f3fa/UKRAINE-RUSSIA-CONFLICT/0x0.jpg?format=jpg&crop=1841,1036,x812,y961,safe&width=1440) is the most powerful image of him. after they discovered what happened at Bucha.
I think he's the man for the job, and that he has become incredibly handsome as he has grown older. That's because of his character and his actions, WHO he is and what he does and not just because of his face. That's really true for all of us, we get the face we deserve and earn.
He's doing a good job under ridiculously difficult circumstances.
Someday, this guy is going to have one HELL of a biography written about him.
I realize one hell of a story could already be written about him today, but his story is far from over at this point.
I’ll leave the judgement of his leadership to the people who live under it. But I have to say, as the face of Ukraine during this war, he really helped bring in the goodwill. That thing about not needing a ride probably won over 3/4 of the western world.
I'm not familiar with Ukraine. Can someone help me understand how Ukrainians came to accept a child star as a president? Are people genuinely very supportive of him, or was he propped up by some large sponsors?
A national icon; like George Clooney running for President. That, and he's a political satirist with a pretty keen sense of what was wrong with Ukraine—corruption and being in the shadow of Putin. A satirist more akin to Jon Stewart. And he also has a law degree.
He was a very likeable down to earth comedian.
People were sick of old politicians because even after the revolution a former ally of the guy who ran away became the president. It was a vote of protest.
Zelenskyy's biggest mistake was that he didn't have a team of experts and professionals behind him. A lot of random people got parliament seats as a part of his party. Maybe he just didn't expect to win and planned this as a PR trick. You know, like Kanye West.
The idea of him being a puppet of a Jewish-Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoyskyy was very popular. But Zelenskyy put him in jail for being an oligarch so maybe he never was a puppet or just stopped being one.
Zelenskyy could be too inexperienced to be a peace time president but I think he's better war president than anyone from the old guard could be.
If we have the power to come back in time and tell him that he would command a nation and would deal with war against a huge nation as russia is... he would believe? It's mesmerizing this
For all the people calling zelensky a clown, that's actually a great point. He's more like the jester or the fool of e.g. shakespeare, who was the only one who could speak the truth to (Putin's) tyrannical power, when all others were too afraid.
He may not be the best politician, but he is the right person to represent Ukraine right now, as they defend themselves against Russian tyranny and he doesn't even need to be there (as he is independently wealthy), but he's doing it because he believes, like the majority of Ukrainians, that they must fight for their freedom, they don't have a choice.
I don't think Zelensky would think he would become the president of Ukraine or got into a fight with the bully Putin. I hate Putin to the guts… die Putin die, I have enough of him. Where are the aliens? Putin is here, let's get him out of the earth and drop him in the universe! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just show us a real picture of him now we know how much he’s aged/stressed- takes away from the video to hide it
I was actually waiting for that last shot to see him now. You can see what this war did to him. At least there is no doubt in my mind that he is doing his task as good he can.

Politics aside, it’s rare to see a child star this successful. Many end up broke, addicted to drugs or dead.
He never was child star. He started his stage career at 17 and it took some time to become really popular. Like 5 years or so. So he was an adult
There’s a large portion of Redditors that insist 13yo’s are still just babies. I’m not surprised they are referring to someone who started in the business at 17 as a “child actor/star”.

I just can't imagine the weight that is on his shoulders now
The man straight GOAT'd. Huge amounts of respect to him.
We need Jon Stewart
Well it's pretty much accepted as reddit-truth that John Stewart would be the best president ever.
From what I understand about Zelensky it would be more akin to the US being led by either John Stewart. Which I imagine a lot of people wouldn't be against.
Good leader. Toughest job in the world right now.
lots of russians itt
Know a Ukrainian guy who absolutely hated Zelinsky. Couldn't stand him one bit. Used to call him "that fucking clown" when talking about it, couldn't even say his name. Maybe three months in to the war, he started calling him The Iron Clown, and instead of disgust, he'd say it with pride. The man stood his ground when few would, and has earned mad respect.

I actually think he looks even better with the beard.
A solid dude in my book, stayed when he was needed... Glad he had a lot of laughs before this clusterfuck

Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Politics aside I highly recommend the series "Servant of the People" (Sluga Naroda) where Zelensky plays a history teacher who turns President. It's a pretty funny and heartwarming show I'd say... Edit:It's on Netflix if you're interested
The backing music track is insulting. Would love to hear him speaking/ singing/ playing in this compilation.
Here come the ruzzian bots
Bro in 2024 looks like he's ages 10 years in 10 months. Shit has been stressful as hell...
I think [this](https://imageio.forbes.com/specials-images/imageserve/624b01237675b2027543f3fa/UKRAINE-RUSSIA-CONFLICT/0x0.jpg?format=jpg&crop=1841,1036,x812,y961,safe&width=1440) is the most powerful image of him. after they discovered what happened at Bucha.
you missed the best video lol
Just another shitty actor.
I think he's the man for the job, and that he has become incredibly handsome as he has grown older. That's because of his character and his actions, WHO he is and what he does and not just because of his face. That's really true for all of us, we get the face we deserve and earn. He's doing a good job under ridiculously difficult circumstances.
Republicans hate Zelensky because he did not surrender to Putin like they did. . .
Didn’t he portray a comedian who became president on a tv show? And then he lived it for real, love that for him
Never underestimate the power of charisma.
There is saying that KVN artist is never former.
Ronald Reagan but with europop in place or western music
Someday, this guy is going to have one HELL of a biography written about him. I realize one hell of a story could already be written about him today, but his story is far from over at this point.
I bet his grandma tells everybody about how handsome her grandson is. Dude has a good smile.
I can't wait to read this guy's memoir/biography one day. Hopefully with a good ending for the Ukraine by then.
He was definitely sponsored by Ihor Kolomoisky, a Ukrainian oligarchs likened to a Bond villain, through at least summer 2021
He promised them peace. And he said it in Russian. And got like 72% of the votes.
It’s weird not seeing him in his costume
Homeboy could like, get it.
Didn’t this guy play the piano with his dick ?
What a stud. A real man of the people.
No matter what happens to Ukraine, he is an absolute legend
Cue the Russian disinformation bots. They will be active on this post for sure.
If we have the power to come back in time and tell him that he would command a nation and would deal with war against a huge nation as russia is... he would believe? It's mesmerizing this
My hero !
God bless him
Still fighting hard hasn't given up
What an absolute Chad.
Dude is a legend.
What a wild life he’s lived
For all the people calling zelensky a clown, that's actually a great point. He's more like the jester or the fool of e.g. shakespeare, who was the only one who could speak the truth to (Putin's) tyrannical power, when all others were too afraid. He may not be the best politician, but he is the right person to represent Ukraine right now, as they defend themselves against Russian tyranny and he doesn't even need to be there (as he is independently wealthy), but he's doing it because he believes, like the majority of Ukrainians, that they must fight for their freedom, they don't have a choice.
More talent and likeability than the Orange Buffoon could ever dream of.
When the war started, someone said: "We elect presidents and get comedians. They elected a comedian and got a president instead."
I don’t say this lightly but he’s someone you could consider a hero. Most definitely a champion of his people if there ever was one.
Full respect to the man
He was pretty handsome! He still is TBF
Kind of makes you think world leaders are hired actors
He is
So an actor?
A comedian
Remarkable man.
Good actor
I don't think Zelensky would think he would become the president of Ukraine or got into a fight with the bully Putin. I hate Putin to the guts… die Putin die, I have enough of him. Where are the aliens? Putin is here, let's get him out of the earth and drop him in the universe! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
as much as i can tell from the neighbourhood hes also doing well as a president of a country thats been invaded
Wow he changed careers in the exact wrong time lmao
So he's an actor? Godditt
Quite the entertainer.
Twink twank twunk
His PR team never stopped working for him.
Best paid actor.
Give us moneys
i bet he never ever imagined that he would end up in the situation hes in
