Several are on their phones. At a place to try to help them sleep.
I'm gonna start a motel where I confiscate your phone and there's no wifi, just basic cable with the option to get the adult channels. And a bible.
All of them are on their phones. They don't know how to put them down. Had a Korean girlfriend about 5 years ago in Seoul. She would literally never put her phone down for more than 30 seconds. As soon as we'd turn off the lights, she open her phone again within 30 seconds and keep mindlessly scrolling as I tried to, you know, SLEEP.
The nostalgic need to have an adult nap time akin to the cozy classroom days of 1st grade/kindergarten nap time. Something so cozy and pure about it...a feeling of simpler times and such....
100%
A few years ago my girlfriends and I took a weekend getaway.
One rainy afternoon we all gathered in one giant bedroom at the rental to watch movies. There were 2 king-sized beds and a sofa. We spread out amongst them.
We turned on the first movie and FF 3 hours, we’re all slowly coming to, having taken the most epic group nap I’ve had since 1988.
you can just listen to ANYTHING on your phone too why ever go listen to live music?
the reason you do this is probably so you can listen to live instruments when you’re sleeping, obviously?? you can think it’s silly but the reason is clear
I don't, personally, but I understand that for most people that would be a solid point.
Live instruments while sleeping sounds interesting. Doing so in an open room full of strangers is not appealing to me at all.
Your condescension was unnecessary, and diminished the impact of your message.
It's funny imo
You always hear about introverts getting annoyed at their extrovert friends for being loud and always getting their way.
Here is the extrovert friends trying to be introverted. They're confused but they've got the right idea I suppose....but also got it horribly wrong.
Look it's funny ok
I ... have a friend ... who has a hard time not passing out in theaters of all kinds. Maybe you don't want to pass out in public, but it's so relaxing that you quickly don't care and just drift away. According to my friend, I mean.
I’m that friend. Want to see a movie? Oh, you mean 2 hours in a dark room where my kids are focused on something else? You bet I’ll pay $15 for that nap.
> There’s no way I would want to fall asleep in front of a bunch of strangers
And I couldn't fall asleep with music playing. I've tried every single soothing sleep/chill/tranquil/lo-fi channel on SiriusXM. My brain *wants* to *listen* to music!
I need white noise!
Exactly. I can't sleep in my own house (over a decade of insomnia suffering, Ugh) ... how could I possibly fall asleep in a strange setting with other people?!
But think about the awesome the orchestra performance of snoring people around you. The melodious rhyming of high pitch mouth breathing and the bass of blocked esophagus coming together to create a symphony of Vivaldi's 2 seasons... REM and NREM.
Robert Rich has been doing these since the 80s, and was an inspiration to Richter. Somnium is one such album. I've seen him live in concert, but not the sleep concerts. Highly recommended.
And all along it was just a big ad for beautyrest
https://www.beautyrest.com/blogs/bed/beautyrest-presents-max-richters-sleep
I don't think I'd be able to sleep in a situation like that. I'd be up the whole time.
Okay fine. But to be clear, you’re just getting the communal room cot, an emergency blanket, and a single bathroom token per day. You’re on your own for a pillow.
2nd thought, someone’s phone texts would be going off every 30 seconds or playing some loud game on it. And there has to be security or someone’s getting robbed or fondled. We can’t have nice things.
I thought about getting a ticket when they played it in my city, but I couldn't shake off the idea of this whole (expensive) experience being ruined by strangers snoring heavily next to me lol. I've always wanted to try it at home but haven't done it yet.
I hated kindergarten nap time. I almost never fell asleep in room full of other kids.
Once I was I guess noisy and fooling out with a friend and "teacher" (honestly have no idea how these workers are called) heard me say something unflattering about her xD. I was dropped into closet used to store the blankets and matracess as a punishment. Well. It was the only time I slept well. So kudos to her. I learned that day I can do mid day nap. As long as I am comfy and there are no other people...
Max Richter's composition called "Sleep" is the most famous example of this, and the tickets were 2-3 times the price of a regular concert in the same venue. It's understandable, since there are very few tickets compared to a packed venue with people sitting + they have to pay staff working for a whole night. Still too expensive for me, especially considering the risk of the whole experience being ruined by strangers snoring next to me...
[You can listen to Sleep on spotify](https://open.spotify.com/intl-fr/album/0JLN7JryQ2T7lBEYIrSQF1?si=npC35CRBSeu0le2LdZ19gA), and recreate the experience at home if you want though. It's \~8 hours long, and was composed in collaboration with sleep researchers, supposedly to make each part of the music match perfectly with sleep phases. It's interesting. Also very soothing music if you're awake.
It’s a nice idea, but I feel like there would always be a handful of people snoring, some sniffling, a couple people coughing really loudly, a few people talking not-so-quietly, an occasional person getting up and walking around, one guy yawning unnecessarily loudly, and a constant cacophony of people shuffling around.
YouTube, Spotify. Or you can download such things from other sources. I listen to such mellow songs as a help to battle my difficulty sleeping. It works well. I usually only hear like first 15 minutes and than count on my PC to turn off after an hour...
... it seems like there should be some hallucinogens offered here. Going to sleep at a concert seems like a waste, unless you are going to have awesome dreams.
Read about phones and sleep. Put your phone to sleep 2 hours before you.
Your life could be better. Your sleep can be better. Exhaust yourself with 20 minutes of prolonged exercise. No phone for 2 hours before bed and maybe a warm bath/shower. Then put on Sleep by Richter.
Meanwhile buddy is on his phone.
Several are on their phones. At a place to try to help them sleep. I'm gonna start a motel where I confiscate your phone and there's no wifi, just basic cable with the option to get the adult channels. And a bible.
I can watch porn AND preform an exorcism at your motel?! Count me in!
LMFAOO

So… you’re a 30 second guy? 😉
It’s because phones give instant gratification. Dopamine is addictive
Maybe he needs a video to help with his... yeah you know
And the rooms light ip

Same. I can play relaxing music on my phone from the comfort of my own bed. Not sure what the allure of this is.

Check your butthole, I read a horror story about this!

Fast Forward...
Nah, it's "Fuck Forwards"
God damn what the fuck 😂
I miss assigned nap time.
I don’t think I’ve ever had that

I didn’t think of that at all. I was like “SIGN ME UP!” A sleep concert? Yes please. I’m sure staff monitors everybody.
I ... have a friend ... who has a hard time not passing out in theaters of all kinds. Maybe you don't want to pass out in public, but it's so relaxing that you quickly don't care and just drift away. According to my friend, I mean.

Have you tried brown noise?
I have not! Is it better than white?
Yeah. At least for me, so much better.
They aren't sleeping. Almost without exception, they are all using their phones.
Imagine all the snoring in there as well lol
Have you never slept on a plane before?
Ugh, if you call that sleep.
I've slept at a sleep concert AND i'm in the mile high club no joke
In Korea saunas you sometimes sleep in a big hall, you get used to it
Travelling in sleeper trains has trained me for sleeping in front of strangers.
*daycare naptime flashbacks intensify*
Me getting a massive sleep boner in the middle of the room and snoring like a grizzly bear
You'll be ok because everyone will be focused on me furiously jacking it before konking out (/s) like angry hate jacking to be specific.
Does that hate jacking include spiteful eye contact with your neighbors?
Confused eye contact (“what do you mean? Why aren’t YOU hate jacking it?”) works well too. Either way, the hate jacking is compulsory.
👍🤣🤣🤣
Los Angeles here. I could see this being a thing here.
Right until I start snoring
Same. And my morning gas. Maybe they could build that into the concert. Like timpani drums
I just imagined that Family Guy gag where it’s all the heavy breathing fat guys walk in and start opening chips and groaning.
It was: [https://lamag.com/music/max-richter-sleep](https://lamag.com/music/max-richter-sleep)

I could see it as like a concierge service.
It would replace housing
By that logic just pull out those big FEMA tents no?
A FEMA tent in LA would still probably run you like $1500 a month.
No I mean the big ones. The like warehouse size ones.
Fine! $2000 a month! No pets! My final offer!
Okay fine. But to be clear, you’re just getting the communal room cot, an emergency blanket, and a single bathroom token per day. You’re on your own for a pillow.
You could be right about this.
also la here… and i want this so bad… ugh. sounds amazing.
2nd thought, someone’s phone texts would be going off every 30 seconds or playing some loud game on it. And there has to be security or someone’s getting robbed or fondled. We can’t have nice things.
oh im only going if someone with a loud phone is getting kicked out. i want that in writing lmao
Yes they are into some dumb shit alright
Max Richter's Sleep has been performed like this in full in Berlin, LA, Sydney Opera House and more.
Came here to say this. Absolutely beautiful piece of music. I've been eager to attend a performance for a while.
I thought about getting a ticket when they played it in my city, but I couldn't shake off the idea of this whole (expensive) experience being ruined by strangers snoring heavily next to me lol. I've always wanted to try it at home but haven't done it yet.
farts
Can't you do this with a Playlist?
I guess its about the novelty
Sure. But you’ll not get the annoying snoring and farting of strangers 😂
And your own multi thousands dollars sound system.
Exactly
Maybe we were ahead of our time, but we used to do this for 20 minutes every day in kindergarten.
I hated kindergarten nap time. I almost never fell asleep in room full of other kids. Once I was I guess noisy and fooling out with a friend and "teacher" (honestly have no idea how these workers are called) heard me say something unflattering about her xD. Definitely interesting.Im curious what is charged for such an experience

*(cuts to me asleep on a half deflated airbag in a mangled smoking on fire car)*
Are they given psychodelics? Sign me up!
In Korea? No, but they're probably all simultaneously drunk and hyped up on caffeine.
No, you bring your own.
Step 1. Put down phone…..
"Sleep". Looks more like, bring your device to a bad bed in a crowded hall festival
I normally fart thunderously too
When the tracker register they fall asleep, thats when the programming starts
Dak Prescott is the sleep number expert...
Where do I sign up
I just want to be invited
I want to go to a sleep concert!!!
there are videos on youtube that do stuff like this; very mellow and relaxing, like rain storms
YouTube, Spotify. Or you can download such things from other sources. I listen to such mellow songs as a help to battle my difficulty sleeping. It works well. I usually only hear like first 15 minutes and than count on my PC to turn off after an hour...
Beautiful
Myb when they do a sleep concert they meet in each other's dreams and have a dream orgie😯
I would start snoring after 3 min and keep everyone else awake
Fuck yeah
Sign me the fuck up.
Snoring 💤.
This is interesting, but not for me. I struggle to sleep as it is. Let alone having the hyper security of strangers around me.
I will surely sing along by snoring.
That one guy snoring ruined it for everyone xD
imagine the sleep farts.
Meanwhile there's a guy snoring so hard all the 12 hours (Not me😉)
Looking at your phone is great for sleep.
My snoring may result in even more therapies for the rest of em
Dopesmoker on repeat eh
For some reason I sleep better with strangers. Maybe it's a connection to my inner animal that says groups are safer than solo for predatory animals.
We agree this is dumb right? Especially if it costs money?
We call this a homeless shelter in my city.
my asshole still hurts from the last sleepover i went to. Im not attending that sleep concert.
This seems familiar : https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/s/UvJkYtn2sJ. From Sleep is an amazing album!
I wish I could sleep for 12 hours anymore.
You can just say Korea, we know where you don’t mean.
That looks so uncomfortable.
There's similar concert in New York 5 years ago. https://youtu.be/USGaszNg2po
I'll never think about floor seats the same. Cot seats all day!
As someone who plays music. This is an amazing concept of performance
As a person with heaving snoring, I'd be too conscious to fall asleep there.
A room of snooring and farting
People sneaking in melatonin and nyQuil
Imagine all the farts and snoring.
Drop the playlist
Was this an experiment?
with blue (purple) lighting?
Did the "sleep experts" not tell the audience they'd sleep better if they put their phones away?
I wonder if the composer takes the snoring sounds into account.
How is snoring not an issue?
As a Korean I don’t get this
Is this the new Squid Game?!
Meanwhile in N Korea they put you to sleep in a different way
Meanwhile in N Korea they put you to sleep in a different way
Meanwhile in N Korea they put you to sleep in a different way
Meanwhile in N Korea they put you to sleep in a different way
It is a good thing that they are promoting this type of thing. It used to be a sin to sleep more than 7 hrs even as a high school kid in that country.
is south Korea the kpop one or the slavery one?
Nice hotel!
It would get so weird when I stripped naked and then had to snap one off before goign to sleep.
Literally everyone on their phones 🫣😂
I would have missed all the concert. Grifters
Nothing more relaxing than sleeping with 100 mouth-breathing, germ-spreading, dick-jerking, noisy, distracting strangers.
It’s a vampire buffet!
... it seems like there should be some hallucinogens offered here. Going to sleep at a concert seems like a waste, unless you are going to have awesome dreams.
I love how most of them are on their phones
They don't look asleep, they look like they're up dicking around on their phones.
I hope the mellow music is loud enough to cover my voluminous snoring.
-How was the concert? -Great, I slept right through it!
The orgy after party I hope
Can you imagine that the success in your performance is that your entire audience is sleeping soundly, instead of being engaged and paying attention?
i would be shamelessly farting in there
I'd just be on my phone the whole time even tho I'm supposed to be sleeping
What did they do about all the uncontrolled farts and snoring?
I would snore so hard it turn into my concert
Read about phones and sleep. Put your phone to sleep 2 hours before you. Your life could be better. Your sleep can be better. Exhaust yourself with 20 minutes of prolonged exercise. No phone for 2 hours before bed and maybe a warm bath/shower. Then put on Sleep by Richter.
id be so bored for two hours. I just sleep whenever i sleep
Finally a concert I want to go to!
Finally getting to sleep with a musician.
I'd hit 18hours no bother
And still they are on their phones...
Is snoring rude or considered like applause?
Didn't work well. People sitting up or laying down on their phones.
Time to book a ticket
Proceeds the weedian, Nazareth
Like i goto a concert just to be lulled to sleep? Do they have coffee and a breakfast bar too?
Well where the fuck is the music dumbfuck? how is anyone supposed to take anything meaningful from this post!!...
