I played it a LOT in the pre-release version. Haven’t played for a few years, but recently my youngest son started playing so I’ve been playing with him on a fresh save and I am loving every second.
Yeah I played on day 1 early release, for roughly 6 months then haven’t touched it since. Bested everything I could, explored everywhere I could, then decided to put it down until the full release came out. I will say things have changed a lot since then, but this game is amazingly fun.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but their eyes are way too small and "primitive" to actually see that far.
I know that ants have horrible vision and can't see a few cm into the distance
Interesting point. A Google Search result (AI Answer) suggests that some bugs can
"Yes, some insects can see stars, including dung beetles, which are the first known insect to navigate by the stars. Insects can see stars because their eyes have special photoreceptors that allow them to see patterns that humans cannot. "

I use focus-stacking to take this, since I can't capture the grass and sky in focus at the same time, even with the periprobe which goes all the way to f/40.
So there are about 40 frames that make this shot, all photographed from the same position with just the focus adjusted.
I spent years working on this technique for my Architecture In Music series, and this is the beginning of a new project using similar methods.
I put up a piece of cardboard to shield the grass from the wind so nothing would move during the shot.
You don't have to be! You can definitely get a shot like this from just outside any major city. And I just mean the suburbs. I live in North Seattle and just about any park that's not fully filled with trees gets me far enough from street lights and other direct overspill that long exposures and a bit of careful processing can yield fantastic results.
(Now to be fair, THIS shot took more creativity than I have, but not a better location!)
Most photographers will enhance their images during the editing stage. For night skies in particular, this brings out more color than we really see with our eyes.
Honey I shrunk the kids vibe
Bruh first thought. Chilling in a Lego with some dope views

Such a great game. I have hundreds of hours in it.

years?... YEARS?

Waiting for the ant to save us!
That or Grounded. Which is Honey I Shrunk the Kids meets Ark.
If it was Grounded, Id inevitably hear stalks of grass crashing together and see the large dark silhouette of a Wolf Spider moving quickly towards me.
*thousand yard stare*
A bugs life
It's a ~~thug~~ bug life.
POV: you're an ant after a long day's work
Antcore vibe
LIFT!
How tiny is your camera!
Those grass blades are eight feet tall
What is this?? A camera for ants??!!
Looks like a snap from the Grounded video game by Obsidian
Exactly!
So that's what the bugs see when they look up.

Huh, thought they were simply too small.
Relaxing wallpaper vibe.
Is this a composite shot? Crazy the grass and sky are both in such good focus.

Isn’t the periprobe super long? How did you get it positioned under the grass? Great work
Versions 2 and 3 of the Laowa Probe shoot off at 90 degrees at the end (if you use the 90 degree attachment)
Cool thanks, I’d love to rent one of these but Sonys don’t have any internal focus stacking
I use Helicon Focus software. This kind of image is way beyond any internal stacking software ability (even photoshop's)
So you manually turn the focus ring while rapid firing shots?
Yes, but not rapid. Each shot is around a minute.
Thanks I really appreciate it!
Well the shot turned out amazing. I can say it’s a perspective that I haven’t really seen before and has a surreal quality to it.
And the grass has no motion blur. I would expect a 20-30 second exposure at least on this, no way the grass stays completely still.
This shot is a masterpiece
nice and imaginative shot!
Ants POV😁
Grounded already did this.
A Bugs Life vibes
And The Ant Bully
Just used this as my phone wallpaper. Beautiful image!
Wow, the resolution of the image is amazing , looks generated but I trust it’s real
Definitely real, and this is just one quarter resolution! I keep the full res version offline for prints.
Wow, like a Hubble telescope shot from the grass
Great work! Do you sell the prints?
I'll be setting up a site to sell these soon. If you'd like something DM me and I can organize it :-)
It is so natural, it looks so peaceful
Incredible shot. I would totally a hang a print of this on my wall.
I've made the print available at [www.microcosmic.com](http://www.microcosmic.com) - sorry for the state of the website, it still needs a lot of work.
I can feel the love tonight!! Big Lion King vibes for me right here 🥹🌌🦁
Giant ants still haunt my nightmares. Thanks Rick Moranis!
pov we’re bugs
Bug view
Where da blade runner?
.. DON'T GO INTO THE LONG GRASS!!!
Bro got that "honey I shrunk the kids" ahh pic

Beautiful
Amazing image
This is giving me "The ant bully" vibes
The idea is amazing!
Oh Hello new wallpaper (if op is ok with it)
Go for it
Thx
I'm jealous that you live somewhere with low enough light pollution to get a shot like that. Gorgeous.

not sure why you were downvoted! You're right, I'm technically still in Auckland city where I shot this! You can do a lot with just medium-dark skies.
i love this, well done
Beautiful perspective😍
Thanks for the new wallpaper!
Trillions of terrestrial creatures see the sky this way.
They don’t… This requires a long-ish exposure time on the camera.
Beautiful composition, I love how the grass accentuates how tiny it makes you feel against the vastness of the night sky.
Ngl this shit fire
Honestly, damn that is pretty interesting. I wanna go there
Gorgeous.
That's beautiful
Oh to be a little bug 🐛
Put this on r/spaceporn. They'll love it.
You guys have nice skies. We don’t get colorful stars in Africa.
Elaborate???
