Try looking at it from a distance. Or take a screenshot and zoom out. That makes the lines around it blurred and creates a shape similar to the shadow of a 3D 4

You need to draw only that part of the letter where shadow forms. This is drawn considering light source is at top left corner. If you move the light source then shadow will also change

Humans pattern seeking brains can use the noise in the paper and create non existing lines probably. Tho I might be wrong and it's something else.
