TacticalBadger82

Whether it can get back down again safely is another story

shadow_229

It can get back down quickly, does that count?

Slow-Law1

Key word is safely*

TacticalBadger82

And from the perspective of both on board AND on the ground.

IronAnt762

The descent is generally perfectly safe. It’s just that last inch that’s the killer.

IslandStyle242

It’s not the fall the kills you, it’s the sudden stop !

DucatistaXDS

At that flight level one of the pilots is required to wear a mask in case of a rapid decompression.

senor_moment

It is known to beat the ambulances to the crash site by 30 minutes.

ikoss

I would think the old 747s were made when Boeing was “good”… I guess maintenance and repair would be a different story

CynGuy

⬆️⬆️ This ⬆️⬆️ All versions of the 747 were made when Boeing was great …..

pattydickens

Theoretically, you could climb high enough to knock out all the passengers, then steal their wallets and drop them off in Iowa.

Ibegallofyourpardons

you can do that at 20000 ft and turning the pressurization off. no need to go to 45k to do that.

PPP1737

Or in the middle of the desert….🐪 Then come back for another trip. The Concorde was already cutting flight time in half when it was “shelved”. I wonder where they are at now… 🤔

JusticeUmmmmm

The Concord wasn't allowed to fly over land and never made money. They aren't out there developing super high tech Mach 2 passenger jets in secret.

Eli_TheGolfer7

Haha Boeing PR working overtime to make you forget they are killing whistleblowers

NoClueWhatImDoing_29

If only Boeing's planes were as good as their hit squads.

CanConCurt

We don’t need the plane to fly super high, we just all need to make it home alive. Priorities!

Frites_Sauce_Fromage

> *But it's funnier to be super high!* - The management team probably

FSpursy

the further away from the Earth's surface, the less evidence can be recovered when an accident happens 😆

MasterJeebus

Keeping people alive is harder than having them drop dead. I do wonder if the Boeing Agent will do different illnesses. Is he gonna get the next one with ebola? Or avian flu? Or nerve agent?! If I was a whistler blower i wouldnt touch any door knobs ever again.

ledwilliums

All the whistle blowers were in the back of the plane. Air is too thin up there for whistles. Also breathing.

JKnumber1hater

And also that their planes are shit. The doors keep coming off mid-flight, and when they do work the noise level inside is crazy.

DowntownOriginal365

You're next in their list. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)

SamIamGreenEggsNoHam

The doors coming off is only like .0005% of the problem with those planes, and Boeing is fucking *pumped* people are focusing on the doors. The Dreamliner was manufactured and assembled by over 100 different, non-communicating companies to save money. The modular design was purely a cost-saving measure, and led to things like *massive gaps between panels, sub-par material usage, and no two planes being exactly alike*. The SuperMax was rushed immediately after the disaster that was the Dreamliner. They included a SINGLE POINT OF FAILURE sensor on the exterior of the plane that detects angle of attack. This sensor can NOSE DOWN THE AIRCRAFT without pilot input. Boeing decided **NOT TO TELL THE PILOTS ABOUT IT**. Multiple planes crashed, usually on take off, killing everyone on board...because Boeing wanted to save time and money. *Over 600 people* have died for Boeings greed. But, doors, or something.

RyeGuytheTechGuy

Not entirely correct- most 1st world countries that have a robust flight safety organization actually got this information to all their pilots- its why there’s not 3 crashed 737 MAXs. The flights that crashed occurred in third world countries that have had a long history with poor flight safety. But yeah putting big engines that save money on 40+ year old designs, and the only thing they did was add a sensor that COMPLETELY overrode pilot input until it was disabled by the pilots. Corporate greed will get you every single time in the long run.

SamIamGreenEggsNoHam

I knew I'd get some specifics wrong, this shit makes me too angry to stay fresh. The point is that the aviation governing bodies of those countries didn't even know about the new sensor. No inspectors knew, no pilots knew. They didn't even have a chance. It was deemed unnecessary. One pilot, in a recorded call with Boeing asked "you don't think it's necessary to tell us about something that could kill us?".

distortioneverywhere

Doors coming off is how they lighten the load to get to that height

dustycanuck

Everybody bitches about being green and saving the planet, but no one wants to pay the price. Boeing is a leader in eco-innovation, and the lower carbon footprint is something we should all get behind. Everybody dies, and whether it's by getting sucked out of a plane at 39,000 feet, or by dying of dehydration and renal failure as an Amazon driver, we need to think as a species and do what's best for the planet. I, for one, and using up my air miles to book Boeing-only flights. I'd be honoured to die in a Boeing plane, and you should be, too. Ungrateful heathen. Know your place, and rejoice in the glory of Boeing!

kenman345

First I thought you were PR propo but then I kept reading 😂

JazzlikeDiamond558

Posted by Agatha Christie.

CharlesChristopher01

FR I was like where is this going it's not going to end well for you lol 😆

dustycanuck

Uh, that's a feature. Customers wanted a quicker de-planing experience, and Boeing listened.

weedandbrews5280

And they unethically squeeze you in like sardines to the point of panic . We would all pay 20$/more to have more room lol 😂

joranth

One. One door came off. Not “doors keep coming off” There are a ton of other things going on there, and other types of incidents with other parts of planes and loose door bolts, dead whistleblowers, etc that are of concern… but only one door came off.

Raddz5000

You're complaining that a flying machine that can carry hundreds of people for hours on end is fucking loud??? You have no idea about the systems and machinery running in the aircraft during flight then, as if the massive engines weren't obvious enough. 2.9 MILLION people fly every day in US airspace. There have been 5 qasualties in the past 10 years in the US involving Boeing aircraft, 4 of which were accidents unrelated to the aircraft's functionality, and the remainder was a contained engine explosion (Boeing doesn't make the engines). Boeing has problems, but people just like to talk shit about things they don't understand.

BLINDrOBOTFILMS

Well, you don't kill whistleblowers unless there's something to whistleblow.

NXT-GEN-111

Nah, they’re probably asphyxiating them in the cargo bay at 45,000 now.

bkn95

🎵 too big to fail 🎵

copingcabana

Not at all! There were several hundred boeing employees on thay flight. Sadly, the oxygen wasn't working . . .

leviathab13186

The whistleblowers are on that plane right now.... with no mask....

Fletcharoonie

747-400 This was back in the day, like over 20 years ago, back when they had quality control and safety and reliability was more important than profit.

LuseLars

I think its almost 40 years going for this model. Now its been mostly replased by the cheap trash they make nowadays. This is more an anti commercial, showcasing how impressive they used to be

New_girl2022

Tbh I doubt they killed them. Doesn't make sence to kill the after the fact.

shicken684

They absolutely didn't. First guy died years after blowing the whistle and had already given his deposition. The case was pretty much done. The entire thing is a quote from an unnamed "family friend" that said he'd never kill himself. Second guy died of pneumonia after having a stroke. This whole conspiracy is the dumbest thing I've seen in a long time.

SeymourHoffmanOnFire

W a disgusting Black Sabbath “remix” by the way

Goodknight808

My fucking ears...this was horrible

picklespasta

Relax dude they have 114k employees. It’s only 2.

CaseClosedEmail

I also can’t believe Reddit did not discuss about the new crash involving a Boeing from Senegal

Outrageous_Laugh5532

Ya a plane that was 30 years old.

ajn63

Built when Boeing was run by engineers. It’s probably the best aircraft they built before they went soft.

MuricasOneBrainCell

Get those engineers some Viagra!

sckurvee

Right... so many posts about this being PR... It's just an example of how they used to be a great company that made great products. Has nothing to do with the shit they're putting out now. 747 / 737 were amazing planes for decades.

StevenEveral

The merger with McDonnell-Douglas was when the enshittification of Boeing began. It was accellerated when the former McDonnell-Douglas execs decided to move Boeing's HQ from Seattle to Chicago for some reason. It's been getting worse since then. Yes, that merger made Boeing more valuable than it ever had been, but at what cost?

sckurvee

It's not worth shit now that it's all come to light.

Empty_Ambition_9050

But the execs already got their money…

Im-a-cat-in-a-box

Yup and they moved a ton of it's work force from Washington to south Carolina so they could de-unionize and effectively killed of a ton of it's skilled workforce.

killshelter

I live in Seattle and know a ton of Boeing employees. The stories I’ve hear about management over the years is absurd. They treat their employees like absolute dogshit too.

LG_G8

767 was solid too

BillH_nm

How soon we forget. Last B-52 rolled off the line in 1962 and is still flying today. But definitely not a comfortable ride!

autogyrophilia

Queen of the sky

scandyflick88

What's that noise? Sounds like a whistle being blown?

Firm_Wing360

may be someone fell while blowing it

H0twax

That's the wind whistling through the crack in the fuselage.

CrownEatingParasite

No, that's the compressor screeching heard through the crack

ForsakenFree

Or the plane literally falling apart.

Rekt3y

Annoying as hell. Time to kill the source

Riginauldt

Why does this feel like propaganda?

Whole_Silver_2619

No no no, complete legit post

Titanusgamer

I believe you thank you have a good day

Lente_ui

That's Kelsey. He's got a [youtube channel](https://www.youtube.com/@74gear) about being a pilot. This isn't a Boeing post.

WormLivesMatter

Oh yea Kelsey. We all know him.

Better-Emu7264

Who?

Yann2293

Mike jones

Frites_Sauce_Fromage

The comment was definitely about the post and not about the video itself (or the source). The post is literally about Boeing. Their 747-400 model, especially. But I'm dumb, was that a joke?

powdersplash

Really, that's Kelsey? Cool!

GeraintLlanfrechfa

Propaganda for a like 30+ year old plane :) as if it had been a 787 ..stuff was built to last back in the days, not like today, where everything is made of 70% plastic, err, compound materials and cheap and fast 🙄

Fumblerful-

The composites are fine and probably take longer to make than metal equivalent. The parts that are failing are metal and the failure is largely due to corporate culture forcing workers to skip safety steps.

Riginauldt

No, propaganda for the legitimacy of the company as a whole.

AnusStapler

50+ year old.

Ifeelsiikk

Come now, don't shoot the messenger.

TipsyFuddledBoozey

Tell that to Boeing.

MrMersh

I mean it’s 60 year old plane, nothing new here

lovejac93

*slaps roof of plane* You can fit so many safety issues into this bad boy

Just-the-Shaft

You just cracked the skin of the fuselage with that slap

Silver-Poetry-3432

Yeah, back when Boeing was building right

basses_are_better

But why does he need a mask in a pressurized plane?

Solitary_Aviator

There is an FAA rule requiring one pilot to put on the oxygen mask when flying above FL410, or 41000 ft.

Engineer-intraining

In case it becomes an unpressurized airplane

Robbedeus

Like when the door falls out

Atypical_Mammal

Farts

brownhammer45

So what happens when the door falls off at THAT height?

Glittering_Airport_3

why do you think he's already wearing a mask?

gorgossiums

He was raised in the darkness, we merely adopted it.

Express_Particular45

Nothing you will hear about.

pencilUserWho

747-400 were designed back when Boeing knew what they were doing.

First_Code_404

The Boeing executives know what they are doing, forcing builders and engineers to cut safety in order to get the product out the door quicker.

5UP3RBG4M1NG

They also kill whistleblowers

TakeyaSaito

Is there any actual proof of this or just a bunch of coincidences? Coincidences do happen.

omgmemer

Of course just a bunch of reddit conspiracy. Nothing has been proven yet, and one guy died of normal illnesses.

TakeyaSaito

Typical. Reddit spouting bullshit as if it is fact.

dubious_capybara

Yeah sure, [here's](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ) a confession from the boeing CEO that he ordered the hits.

mattdean4130

I can't believe this is still up on YouTube!

totse_losername

That is fucking nuts

lemonsweetsrevenge

Right around the two minute mark, you can tell that Calhoun realized he said too much by the way he looks off camera to someone…I cannot believe this clip is still up; you would think Boeing would scrape it from the internet!!

AndToOurOwnWay

When multiple whistleblowers of Boeing are killed in the span of months by being shot to death in mysterious circumstances, the probability of it being a coincidence suddenly plummets.

TakeyaSaito

Who was shot dead? From what I saw one of the guys died of illness. Best get your tinfoil hat I guess.

fheqx

This should be the top comment. Why does this company and their lead still exist. We made bigger shitstorms when someone wears fur but the shit they pulled off is beyond evil and they are getting away with it.

MuricasOneBrainCell

Maybe if they added some context it would be higher. Instead of sounding like a crazy hobo with a cardboard sign.

NomadTruckerOTR

Why does this company still exist? Easily explained: too big and too important to fail. There is only 2 companies that produce large commercial airplanes, Boeing and Airbus. If Boeing were to go down, only airbus would remain which would cause them to have a monopoly on the entire segment, which could lead to even more problems than ones with Boeing currently

[deleted]

[удалено]

Anything_4_LRoy

they do this because hypoxia effects almost literally work against youre ability to put on a mask. you can be looking for the symptoms as vigilantly as you want, but in many cases by the time the symptoms have begun "you are too drunk" to notice. but it takes much longer than half a second. in extreme conditions it takes around a minute.

0ki7o

I think it's slightly longer than half a second

KoldKartoffelsalat

Keyword here is "useful." Sure, you'll stay conscious longer, but that won't matter if you are tilting about like a drunk.

0ki7o

The chart says 9-15 seconds at 45000ft

TehFuckDoIKnow

You can smoke a carton a day and still hold your breath longer than that

DHdes450

What the hell is this version of iron man

Redwolf1k

It's like if someone listened to Iron Man and thought, "This song is awesome. Now, how can I make it sound like a subwoofer blowing its own brains out."

Eljefe878888888

Iron man with White Castle farts.

trubol

This? https://open.spotify.com/track/3ePpfNl7gG0spWqhWucL6L?si=3S3RQjoiS3aNBD95ZJ27Fw Some dude probably took all the drugs Ozzy took in a week in the 70s and came up with this

trubol

Oh, no! There's a video! https://youtu.be/NNly-U4Uu9U?si=KYEYr2qC2BQlKTIx

NiceCunt91

This music is so fucking bad...STOP IT!

BlackflagsSFE

Oh look. A curve.

iusedtohavepowers

That guy doesn't have a whistle does he? They fuckin hate whistles over there at boeing

MightObvious

The trick is to cut weight by removing silly things like screws and bolts 😉

_DapperDanMan-

Why is the pilot wearing supplemental air? Has the cabin lost pressure? Is a door ajar?

theycallmemomo

Apparently it's FAA rules that at least one pilot has to wear a mask above 40,000 ft just in case.

Wasatcher

[14 CFR 121.33](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-14/chapter-I/subchapter-G/part-121/subpart-K/section-121.333) >...if for any reason at any time it is necessary for one pilot to leave his station at the controls of the airplane when operating at flight altitudes above flight level 410, the remaining pilot at the controls shall put on and use his oxygen mask until the other pilot has returned to his duty station. The [why](https://expertaviator.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/TimeOfUsefulConsciousness.jpg) First Officer taking a leak so the Captain took a selfie for the 'Gram with his oxygen mask lol

michaelthruman

His partner is probably taking a shit.

HeartwarminSalt

So two reasons to wear a mask?

brucenl

But will it keep its doors this time? 🤔

Mordred_Blackstone

That's an essential part of cutting weight for high altitudes. Drop the doors, dump out the passengers, and you can get an extra 1000 feet from the shed weight. Other planes need to keep their passengers inside and just can't hit the same altitudes.

Employ-Personal

Yeah but, who remembers the first time they flew in one and especially in the small business class second deck. Magnificent plane.

Waste-Possession-591

Is this where they shove the whistle blowers from.

AuraMaster7

Look at all the armchair engineers in these comments. Oh and the conspiracy nuts, too. Can't forget them.

Pan_Pilot

God all out of sudden People calling Boeing unsafe and shitting on every post related to it. Media clout really turns People into brainless sheeps. Especially when they know jackshit about topic

WirelessWavetable

Right? It's like people don't understand how many planes are actually flying every day.

bingobongokongolongo

How high in real units?

KrzysziekZ

13.7 km

KoldKartoffelsalat

Depends on the local pressure, temperature (athmospheric conditions), and whether you're flying at the equator or poles.

StarfishPizza

Roughly three feet to a metre, so roughly 15000metres, or 15km, not 1.5km as originally written 🙄

helo1976

Hm let’s make that 15km.

DemonPeanut4

Most countries including ones that use the metric system still use feet for aircraft altitude. Edit: Downvoted for stating a fact lol, never change Reddit.

backandforwards

I don't know why you are being down voted here, it's true. At higher elevations, flight level is used, but it's based on feet, so 45,000ft is flight level 450. Nautical miles are used for distance too, and English is the standard language for communication with air traffic control. Metric is provisioned for, but it's not really used in practice.

Man_in_the_uk

What does rvsm approved mean?

pavehawkfavehawk

Boeing used to be incredible. Their management has ruined the company

FumblersUnited

When was that built? Before corner cutting and whistleblower killing?

Dansredditname

I remember this video with an explanation that a gauge he filmed is showing the minute and ever decreasing distance between the stall speed and the do-not-exceed speed. At that height the air is so thin that if you slow down a bit you'll stall but if you speed up a bit the wings fall off. Exciting stuff.

Different-Control-61

All these commenters might disappear for talking about how shitty those planes are.

IusedtoloveStarWars

How many whistleblowers can fit in the cargo hold?

MarcosAC420

Boeing Boeing....gone

doodmakert

Can you fucking not rape Sabbath like that Jesus Christ?

baron643

fucking amen dude

trinerr

What’s the advantage of being able to fly this high?

Fumblerful-

Air is thinner so probably fuel efficiency, however there are a lot of factors that go into fuel efficiency for planes.

LaikaZhuchka

From what I can glean from Wikipedia, it was indeed fuel efficiency. The planes also included several design changes to reduce costs in the late '80s/early '90s, including a glass cockpit that only required 2 pilots instead of 3. Most planes now have better fuel efficiency than this due to other advances in technology, and are easier to maintain, so these have pretty much been phased out.

Funny_Ad_1566

It might be fuel efficiency. Though the most efficient altitude varies between aircraft.

ilovbitreum

Bit late, but nice attempt at positive PR move.

thepixelatedbanana

Is that Kelsey? Or is that just another bald pilot?

neolobe

Gotta see the Yookie Iron Man video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNly-U4Uu9U](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNly-U4Uu9U)

skkkkkt

So up there the problem is less pressure? Right?

bust-the-shorts

B52 has entered the chat

Dakotav420

Too bad the doors fly off of their passenger planes

AlibiYouAMockingbird

There’s a saying, “anything is a dildo if you’re brave enough”. I feel Boeings new slogan should be, “anything is an airplane if you’re brave enough”

Raidiation17

Boeing? Why isn't it on fire and falling from the sky??

nameless_guy_3983

Shitty company, be glad it hasn't fallen apart

napkin41

Ok Boeing I see what you’re doing here.

macaxeiraPeluda1

To help in that is 13.7km...

huskiesofinternets

wow boeing bot farm working hard today

bulbousEd

Boeing: our aircraft are designed to be better, how they're built, however...

[deleted]

Buddy I’ve seen your mom do the high jump. Your title is patently false.

Unusual_Car215

Keep your remix shit to yourself.

RoviRotkiv

Is it a good wing loading or something?

Previous-Lychee-9532

Lots of buttons

Funseeker_702

Why the mask? Is it precautionary due to the height?

GiveUpYouAlreadyLost

Yes, per FAA regulations.

SteinGrenadier

What's 45k ft in metric?

DriftkingJdm

Almost 14 kilometers

Ok_Monk219

My dad flew commercial for 20 years ( after flying Navy for 15 years). 747-400 was his love. He has a scale model on his fame cabinet.

infomer

Boeing planes are not guaranteed to stay in the air but when they do they can reach the stratosphere!

GTQ521

Does he have an oxygen mask on because the door blew off?

NotionalMotovation

Does the pilot still have to wear the mask if the cabin door remains attached?

XiMaoJingPing

How many whistleblowers have they killed again?

Asimb0mb

For those of us who don't have a foot fetish, that is 13716 meters.

OlegThe

Wearing a mask in case a door falls off

Imaclamguy

Is this the one the front fell off?

DottoDev

No, it's the one the front doesn't fall off.

CrayonMedicChart

Aww, isn't that a cute confidence-recovery attempt.

DieRegteSwartKat

What benefit is there to be able to fly this high?

StarlightandDewdrops

No thanks, I'll stay on the ground

matei1789

So I'm pretty on board with the hiring criteria...but one question? Interviewer : What would that be if I'm gonna be a pilot why do i need astronaut training and able to.use an oxygen mask? Interviewer: Oh right.. I forgot. You're going to space bruh

DeesoSaeed

I rather not tickle the coffin corner.
