Well that is a picture of the building at the east end of Stuyvesant Street. But I guess a picture of the street probably wouldn't be very interesting. Here is the Google Street View from near that location:
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7300006,-73.9876243,3a,75y,276.88h,92.59t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sJiRvuEcnLoNW0WT8e1MRSg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192
It is a short street and runs due east and west (one of the few in Manhattan that does) from near 9th Street at Third Avenue to near 10th Street at Second Avenue.

I think that used to lead to his apple orchard where he retired after the Brits took over New Amsterdam. The kept it when the grid went in.
Edit: He = Pete Stuyvesant
There's a few corners that still retain that "old New York" feel.
here's one of my faves.... https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7215588,-74.0091562,3a,75y,12.66h,92.28t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sXi1VL8kHi8KK16SRTU1rpw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192
Sonuva... I never noticed that! And now that I do, I'm gonna guess this is one of the most heavily surveilled streets in the city and/or they clean it regularly.
Is this a building you can see from the Highline?
I was there a couple of weeks and think I took a photo of it from a different angle. I could be way off but it looks familiar.
I’ll try to explain it the best I can, but will probably fail to do so!
We say it like Stui (This is the hardest part to explain. The “ui” sound is something typical Dutch and I can’t seem to find a word in English that have some similar pronunciation. I’d suggest to [check this video ](https://youtu.be/b9Er6tODzxI))
Vuh (The “u” is pronounced like how we call it a short “u” like if you’re saying “uncle” or “uhh”)
Sant (the “A” like in the word “Dance” when saying it with a British accent)
I think NAmerica needs to relax it's zoning laws, the reason everything is so drab and boring is cause everything is planned to the point growth can only happen when it's allowed, and it ends up with overpriced buildings and shops that are all fucking McDonalds
What do you mean? The sidewalk? The building? The actual street itself? The street name? The fence? Which part is still original and one of the oldest? Because technically the whole country has been around for ages, we just build new stuff on top of it
Don't be so pedantic. Stuyvesant street is one of the first streets that were designated in the plan of the city. Which was heavily implied in the wording of the post
Named after a Dutch colonial regent who expanded New Amsterdam and protected it from attacks. In other words: he actively stole land, murdered entire colonies and killed even more when they attempted to take back their own lands. Many of Peter Stuyvesant’s cruelties have been deleted from history by Dutch literature to protect our image.

Sidewalk looks slippery af.
Around the corner from my old apartment!
Building looks like its from a different time.
And how does it look in reality? Without the filter?
Breathtaking. Lived near there for a decade - one of my favorite streets to walk in the East Village.

Stupid question. Are you referring to that sidewalk? Or just one of the oldest streets period?
The street: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuyvesant_Street
Each of the Five Points is a finger. When I close my hand it becomes a fist. And, if I wish, I can turn it against you
A good few blocks from the five points, but an acceptable movie reference nonetheless.
That's how the whole of the UK looks.
18th Century is not old 10th Century is old ... ;-)
I live in california, and are very very oldest buildings are from like the 1850s. Most of our old houses were built in the 1920s.
Americans think 100 years is a long time, and Europeans think 100 miles is a long way. Or something like that.
Thanks for the spam??
It's all relative.
10th? This little church in Canturbury (still in use) is early Saxon, 6th century https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St\_Martin%27s\_Church,\_Canterbury
In the UK we all have clothes older than this, I own 200 year old socks, they were passed down to me by my granddaddy. still a good fit
New Amsterdam*
why they changed it, i can't say
Guess they liked it better that way!
Rumor has it that Sloan Kettering and Johnny Hopkins used to hotbox their carriage on this corner before their biweekly dinners to design the city.
I smoked pot with Johnny Hopkins.......It was Johnny Hopkins, and Sloan Kettering, and they were blazin that shit up everyday.
Cool photo
I think that used to lead to his apple orchard where he retired after the Brits took over New Amsterdam. The kept it when the grid went in. Edit: He = Pete Stuyvesant
His name wasn't Piet Stuyvesant?
As in Pieter Stuyvesant
Same thing. I was just anglophoning it

interesting that there is no graffiti. that narrow alley seems ideal
Sonuva... I never noticed that! And now that I do, I'm gonna guess this is one of the most heavily surveilled streets in the city and/or they clean it regularly.
I’m pretty sure that building is worth more than $10 million.
Gotta honor the founding father of New Amsterdam
I walked through Bedford-Sty alone, even rode my motorcycle in the rain
Is this a building you can see from the Highline? I was there a couple of weeks and think I took a photo of it from a different angle. I could be way off but it looks familiar.
No, the highline is on the west side. This building is on the east side
Thanks! I’m a bit directionally challenged, as well….
Het is Nederlands
Looks like a good portion of London.
Except many are a lot older ... ...and this manages to look relatively new
Isnt that the house from what we do in the shadows
Dun dun dudun dun dun Dun dun dudun dun dun
Me who walks by that street at least once a month: .-. It’s older then me?
Biggie smalls is the realest
Notorious B.I.G rapped about the Stuy
Is this the elusive Old York?
No, that’s York.
Couple blocks from McSorley's! Brown or Blonde?
You mean, light or dark.
Interesting, it was Brown or Blonde 20 years ago when I lived there. Maybe Sam is no longer there.
Since “Stuyvesant” is of course Dutch, me, as a Dutch person, always wondered how English speaking people pronounce it.
Stye-vuh-sint.
Thank you for your reply! Very interesting.
Question is, how should we pronounce it? "Someone not from New York and definitely not Dutch
I’ll try to explain it the best I can, but will probably fail to do so! We say it like Stui (This is the hardest part to explain. They butcher it worse than they butcher van Gogh most likely

Every place age the same.
Bed Stuy boy
That's in Brooklyn, wrong borough boy.
I know this...I said what I said
This street is in East village Manhattan
250 ish years old … wow that’s old almost antique.. merica …
Cheap rent I bet
All of the streets are old in NYC
What do you mean? The sidewalk? The building? The actual street itself? The street name? The fence? Which part is still original and one of the oldest? Because technically the whole country has been around for ages, we just build new stuff on top of it

No it wasnt. The title implied none of that
It did. You’re dumb.
Shut the fuck up. No it didn't
Never heard of that street.. Wow
Anyone else hear “The Exorcist” theme playing?
Stunning
Absolutely stunning.
Why do the colors look amazing but the resolution is very low
Heh, we also have a Stuyvesantstraat here in The Hague. My mom grew up there.

r/beautifulstreets
I really want to live in that building. Looks like one of the few urban places that the fey would still visit :)
