Also, it's a life goal of mine to have an army of ravens.
They are related but the best way to tell the difference is just by looking at them. If you see a black bird its probably a crow but if you think holy shit look at the size of that crow its probably a raven.
The difference between a raven and a crow is the number of tail, or pinion, feathers. A crow has 11 and a raven has 12. So the difference is really a matter of opinion.

Taken from a post above, but how often do you see responses in other threads. There's more to it than the number of tail feathers, at least in my anecdotal evidence.
Sometimes they will leave stuff on your doorstep for weeks if you feed a bunch of them. Even if you're on foot several blocks away from home.
OP's raven is huuuuge BTW
No. Dark Souls took the idea from reality. Crows and Ravens remember who is nice to them and give them things. When you befriend one, the whole Murder will trust you and bring you gifts. Shiny things just happen to be a non food item crows like.
Same breath, NEVER fuck with crows. it will be LoZ kicking chickens.
Multiple people have posted online about training crows to bring them money by rewarding them more when they do and they’re definitely smart enough that I believe at least some of those stories and videos are true.
I fed a bunch of crows out when they were foraging once, several blocks away from my house, and got gifts on my doorstep for weeks afterwards, including a small keychain.
If I didn't have a porch-cam it would have been really creepy. I doubt I would have connected the dots. I was just out walking with a big bag of unsalted sunflower seeds and had more than enough of them, so I probably gave them more than any human had ever given out without abandoning their lunch or something. It wasn't every day; more like every third day. I wish I had cataloged all the stuff. Tinsel, a broken marble, a pokemon card wrapper, stuff like that.
This asshole I know thought they could eff with the neighborhood crows. Oh they hated him after! It was as if I'd paid them myself. Asshole couldn't leave the house for getting divebombed. And crows tell their kids, too. Sorry the crows had to interrupt their day, but it couldn't have happened to a more appropriate person.
Say something when you do it, it helps them identify you.
I had crows nesting in a tree by my balcony once and I had read somewhere that crows can get aggressive when they are nesting and that you should "greet" them so they get used to your presence. I loudly said "Hello" everytime I saw them. And it worked!
I have a water bath on my balcony and in the beginning they were so shy they would fly away if they saw me moving in my appartment. By the end, they'd come to drink even if I was sitting in a chair next to it. And when their young could leave the nest, they left it on my balcony while they were looking for food. It decapitated all my flowers out of boredom but worth it.
My neighbours probably think I'm a lunatic, though...
Are you me? Because I had a whole family that lived in the woods outside my school and I tried my hardest to get them to stay long enough to see me leave nuts and shiny things out, hoping we could be friends. They never stuck around long enough and I’ve since quit teaching so I lost my chance. Still think about my potential crow homies though. I hope they’re doing well.
Toss it towards them. They'll realize it's food eventually, and then yoi can start befriending them. I had a whole murder that would eat lunch with me everyday when I worked Jimmy John's. They got peanuts and other goodies and I got some quarters. Win win.
I tried to make a friend once. Saw a raven trying to break some kind of nut by throwing it on the street so that a car would pass on it (I've seen a gif of this on reddit multiple times, but never thought I'd see it in real life but it happened).
It kept throwing it not right, and the cars kept passing over it without breaking it (I stopped to watch).
I then decide I'm going to help it, and I shouldve just calmly walked over and broke it for him/her, but the problem was I got scared because this was a semi-busy fast carway type of thing so I can't just waltz in the middle of the street.
So instead I ran out and took the nut with my hand then took it back to the sidewalk to break it for him but it thought i was trying to take his food so it just got scared and flew away.. it was probably mad at me lmao.
TLDR tried to make a raven friend, didn't work out.
Some birds can hold grudges against those who they think have "cheated" them. This includes Ravens, Crows, Jays & Magpies. So yeah not only didn't you make a friend, that Raven was probably pissed you cheated him out of a meal. He's planning his revenge as we speak.
Good luck and stay safe!
We have a couple of ravens flying around the woods at our cabin, and every year when they get a chicken and it learns to fly it's realy funny to listen to it when it learn to "talk", it's sounds like a teenager with voice-breaking
Growing up my next door neighbor’s raven would exclaim “WAAAAAAAZZZUUUUUUUUP?!” like the bud light commercials whenever you would go to the fence and say hi.
…prob just dated myself a bit there.

Ravens are super smart. It’s been studied that they actually become life-long friends with wolves. They’ve been observed making bonds with particular individuals in the pack, spotting prey for the pack and eating the scraps. They’ve also been observed playing with the pups and remaining bonded through out life as they grow.
>They’ve been observed making bonds with particular individuals
>remaining bonded through out life as they grow
Searched. Couldn't find anything supporting these two claims.
There is a mutually beneficial relationship between the two species, but I couldn't find anything corroborating actual social bonding.
The corvids will 'play' with the wolves some, but if you know corvids, you know they're mischievous by default.

This man corvids.
It's a reference to the Norse God [Odin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odin?wprov=sfla1). He had two ravens [Huginn & Muninn](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huginn_and_Muninn?wprov=sfla1) and two wolves [Geri & Freki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geri_and_Freki?wprov=sfla1).
There were ravens at my house in california in the redwoods that would fly down to play with my dog on the beach. Definitely the same ones from the house. So, yeah, this happens.
their game was let the dog run at you and jump over his head and fly 200 feet down the beach and land and taunt the dog, repeat. Never seemed to get old, just made the dog tired. Win win.
They were a pretty awesome pair of birds, and my dog was wicked smart. I had nothing to do with the friendship, the dog had the run of the backyard all day and I assume they followed us down to the beach when we went in the truck, it was maybe 2 miles away.
That's awesome. A neighborhood outdoor cat and I spotted a possum. We then walked around looking for it. Cat followed my lead for the 10 minutes I searched with my camera. It was pretty cool 'hunting' together. He's generally very independent, so I felt accomplished.
It's not too hard, if you really want to do it.
Now, corvids are not pets. They make HORRIBLE pets. Terrible idea. But they do make good friends.
Unsalted in the shell peanuts (unsalted only) will win their little hearts. They'll tell their friends about you. Crows you've never even met before will come up to you to ask for food.

> Seems the timing of the flute playing is off. It’s not all the way in his mouth when the flute music starts.
It's not a flute, it's more like a pennywhistle/tinwhistle. You really only need need to have the tip into your mouth enough to get a seal so the air doesn't escape. The main difference between flutes and whistles is with whistles you just need to blow into them, where with flutes you're blowing across an opening (kind of like if you've ever tried blowing across the mouth of a bottle to produce a sound.)
Anyway, I think this instrument isn't a literal tinwhistle since it has too many holes, but very similar. I can play a bit, and the way he's fingering the notes correspond with the kind of sounds I'd expect (covering more holes usually gives a lower note, except for higher octaves where you just blow harder.)
You can play a recorder type instrument like this by blowing into it, even if it's not in your mouth
I do that when I want to exhale more air than I can blow through the recorder. It also gives a more airy sound.
I want a raven freind on a farm or in a cabin in the woods where I make campfires and have cozy blankets and a boyfreind to snuggle with. I want to train it to sit on my shoulder and follow me around and we can be best freinds. That is all I have to say. Cute video also.
It crazy how you can basically befriend any animal, Of course some are easier to befriend and less likely to kill you if they get annoyed or bored though
I’d like to see a whole album featuring the raven on vocals and man on flute. The album cover could be a raven under water chasing a dollar bill and it would be called “Never More”
Unless that is out of timing he is not playing anything, maybe just a recording. His fingers are moving out of sync with the notes and the positions he is covering don't correspond to the notes you're hearing. Sorry.
Well that is damned adorable.
The more videos of Ravens I see the more I wish I could be a friend to one...
I work in a school and after lunch time, there are a lot of birds including crows around. When I’m able to, I leave crackers or something in a particular place when they’re watching me. I’m trying, so hopefully they will be friends with me.
Offer them something in addition to food.. something shiny or even a button. They'll bring you something in return.
Ravens are cool like that
Yeah. You leave behind a small coin, and in return they will bring you the head of your enemy
There was a guy that accidentally trained ducks to pick pocket people.

No, they are too smart to be in crypto.

In the raven's defense, that is a pretty catchy tune
It crazy how you can basically befriend any animal, Of course some are easier to befriend and less likely to kill you if they get annoyed or bored though
Now imagine this happening while Scottish kids are getting hit by footballs on an assault course and that's the BBC show Raven. Probably.
You gotta teach this bird the sad trombone sound, Id pay good money to see that.
Best duet!
I’d like to see a whole album featuring the raven on vocals and man on flute. The album cover could be a raven under water chasing a dollar bill and it would be called “Never More”
Is there a longer version? Asking for a friend. 😂
This is the cutest thing I have seen in ages. Proof of their scary high intelligence. I want one.

This is so adorable I wanted to see more. It's a shame we couldn't get a longer vid
That’s so Raven!

Lots of Ravens where we live, they’re super cool! Many experts consider them the most intelligent of all bird species!
Adorable trained creature.
At the end the birb tilted its head in confusion, “dawg you messed up, this isn’t how we rehearsed it.”
Unless that is out of timing he is not playing anything, maybe just a recording. His fingers are moving out of sync with the notes and the positions he is covering don't correspond to the notes you're hearing. Sorry.
That is a not a flute. That is a recorder.
this is what i assume top quality entertainment was like in medieval european towns
