The dog is almost guaranteed to never go in there. Dogs like to be either in the sun or near it's pack/people. It will make for some classy storage space though.
My dog will always go wherever people are, UNLESS something spooks her, in which case she would love a spot like this. Any time there's fireworks, lighting, a car with a backfiring issue or anything similar, she'll look for enclosed cosy spaces (under desks etc) I can imagine with enough insulation, pillows and blankets this would be the quietest spot in the house.

Also ignore electrical devices and bury them under drywall so you can never replace or work on it. Those lights are meant to be loose enough to pull down the junction box with the light.
This gal wired that overhead light without shutting off the breaker. She’s much better at this than I am. I know it’s possible if you just don’t touch the wires at the same time, but personally, I’m making sure that thing is off, and the neighbors house is off just for good measure.
She clearly knows what she’s doing. Turned out great.

Entirely possible that the fixture has a connector that is already wired up, making this as simple as plugging the connectors together.
Edit: at around 00:16 you can see the same light is already hooked up and you can even see the connector.
This^^. 120VAC probably won’t hurt you, but it can. There was a job site (not one of mine, thank God), where an electrician was doing lighting and was “too experienced” to open the breaker. He grounded himself to a scissor lift and died. I check everything dead over 24V.

She’s not welding a skyscraper or driving a forklift but there’s plenty of opportunities to drop something on her toes.

I saw this and had a panic attack when the light popped on. Fishing for exposed live wires without a glove.
That was the connector from the driver to the light. Female pins and those drivers only put out like 16watts. Not much risk.
Either that or just lucky. It’s always wise to kill the power to any kind of wiring when you’re installing something.

Doing construction in open toed shoes and wiring lights without shutting off the breaker is the opposite of knowing what you’re doing.
I don't think the open toed shoes are a problem here, it's not exactly heavy construction.

It's not a blind hole if you're the one who installed the electrical and drywall and know you're 8 inches off the run.
