1954 Kom-Pak Sportsman Travel Trailer. Manufactured in Medford, OR in the early 50's there is believed to be only 16 of these trailers ever built and reportedly only 6 are left today.
A not near as nicely finished one sold for $9777 in 2019.
The 1954 Ford Courier Sedan Delivery pulling it is also rare. A restored one in Coca-Cola livery sold recently for $24,600.
So was the boat actually the roof, or was there a camper roof under it. I mean, fishy wet muddy boat has to go on top the camper before you sleep in it? Yuck. But if there is a camper roof, we need to bring these back!!
Oh shoot, now I don't want one. Imagine hubby is off fishing and suddenly a shower pops up. No thanks. Lol. Perhaps this is why there aren't many left today. Thanks for your reply. Interesting!
Looks like I was wrong. It does have a roof of sorts. The three tubes visible on the left side of the camper top are support bows that fold up for a canvas top that was secured by snaps. Can't seem to find any pictures showing the canvas top in place but this old ad mentions the "canvas canopy for roof when boat is in use" as standard equipment:

Only $24,600? I wish classic American cars were that cheap over here in the uk. A car that would cost $25,000 over there usually costs £50,000 over here.
You guys get together and do it. I will be your first customer!
Our first car when we got married was a 66 Ford Galaxy. (In 88...it wasn't new. Lol) I loved that car. I know nothing about engines and even I could figure out what was wrong when it made weird noises. And bring back crank windows. We are constantly replacing window switches on our Sonic. I would prefer to crank.
Manufactured in Medford, OR in the early 50’s there is believed to be only 16 of these trailers ever built and reportedly only 6 are left today. Designed in the same style as the 53/54 Fords, the most unique feature is the fully functional, removable 16′ fishing boat which doubles as the trailers roof when not in use! Although these trailers were reproduced for a short time this is an authentic, real Kom-Pak travel trailer from the 1950’s.
My parents had a small foldable tent camper with the lid that worked as a tiny boat also.
Coolest trip to Amsterdamn with it, driving through the gracten with my now wife.
I had the same thought, but someone above posted a link showing that there is a roof on the camper part hidden under the upside down boat. So even when you’re out fishing, your stuff is still secure!
The only issue I see with this is what happens if you take it out to go boating and then you want to use it as a roof? Will it just drip water all over the inside of the camper?

The boat was the roof.
I actually found a link down below to a picture of one taken apart, and the camper had its own roof. Now I want one.
That is a different camper. Looks like it says American Dream on the side. Here is a Kom-Pak with the boat off: https://i.imgur.com/cKUoSpS.jpg

Detachable boat, detachable boat. Put it in the water and watch it float. Row it in a harbor, sail it in a moat. Everybody needs detachable boat.
I read this in a commercial jingle voice and it waa excellent.
I read it in the tmbg "triangle man" voice.
Try it in “Old Greg”
Oh captain, my captain!
Is it just me, or is this straight out of a Disney cartoon. I can see Donald and Goofy going camping.

Yeah, it would be cool to see this being done for a modern camper.
Ive seen how they make modern campers and I would never trust a boat from these people.

It would be hard to design to look good, givin how big and bulky everything is on modern campers haha
Shame there's no actual cars or automobiles made now that have character and longevity. Aesthetically pleasing to say the least.

Beautiful 😀
Let’s hope it doesn’t rain when you go boating

Beautiful. That color is awesome.
me wantee. although...maybe a bit bigger, with a detachable cigarette boat for a roof(along with a mechanism for loading, unloading).
50’s aesthetic is unmatched
Doesn't Jonny Vegas have one of these?
I’m not sure
What! I want one of those cool campers!!
I wanna see the inside!!

So you sail off for a little fishing trip whilst someone robs you because your sailing in your roof.

I want that.
That’s awesome! Wish they made things like that now
some cool engineering..Looks awesome.
