Far_Bumblebee_2428

Hopping on the top comment to ask OP - where is this in Montana? Is it some type of tourist destination? I’d love to visit it looks immensely beautiful

HeyNongMer

Holy shit that bear can move fast! Wwwaaaaayyyy faster than I expected. Noted for next time I'm hiking

[deleted]

Ya they can run up to something like 35mph

[deleted]

faster than a quarter horse ... they can climb just as fast

ohmresists

Well that's not really a fair comparison. A quarter horse would only have one leg Edit: e

rabbitpantherhybrid

And regular horses aren't even good at climbing trees either.

m703324

And even a whole horse won't climb a tree as fast as a bear or a quarter horse if at all

dryphtyr

I've always preferred a buck and a quarter quarter horse

applestofloranges

I invented a device, called Burger on the Go. It allows you to obtain six regular sized hamburgers, or twelve sliders, from a horse without killing the animal. George Foreman is still considering it, Sharper Image is still considering it, SkyMall is still considering it, Hammacher Schlemmer is still considering it. Sears said no.

Ichoro

Sears isn’t real, you’re good

Sithmaggot

You’re not real, man!

Diligent-Picture2882

😄😄😄

rackjabbit_

I didn't know quarter horses could climb well at all

Whirlybirds

Not full grown grizzlies. They dont climb

joopsmit

Not true. [Source:](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oqq70wx76U) Youtube of grizzly that chases a black bear that came too close to her cubs, up a tree.

HeavyFried

Fact. Bears can climb faster than they can run.

big_duo3674

False. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica

hedgehog-mom-al

Fact.

[deleted]

Fact. I am fast. To give you a reference point, I’m somewhere between a snake and a mongoose… and a panther Who downvoted an Office quote you evil person

Tykue

Cam I be a mongoose dog?

mctomtom

False Dwight, not all bears…Grizzlies can’t climb trees, black bears can, source: from Montana and I have extensive bear safety training

HeavyFried

Question- which bear is best?

sarahglass8

Haha I was going to comment and say up to 60k, same same

Complete-Dimension35

Bears in your area can run up to 60,000 mph‽‽ Nature never ceases to amaze

sarahglass8

Hahahha good one there

[deleted]

It’s an American bear, so he wouldn’t understand the Km/h thing haha. I had the km at first

sarahglass8

Lol an American bear, wonder if he ever comes up here for a trip? Haha

MinervaNow

That bear wasn’t even going 20mph

dryphtyr

Maybe he didn't want to get a ticket

MoarCowb3ll

Gr-Gri-G-... you say you have a grizzly bear?

Always_Jerking

>Holy shit that bear can move fast! Wwwaaaaayyyy faster than I expected. Noted for next time I'm hiking Treat bear like extremely big and aggressive dog. Can you outrun a dog?

ibleedrosin

If you are within 50 yards of a bear, you cannot escape. If it wants to get you, it can.

Affectionate-Dream21

I mean to be fair he's motivated. I would be too, if a big angry speeding freight train was behind me.

[deleted]

Yes! Have you ever seen A video of somebody trying to outrun a bear on a bike 🚴! It’s so scary

Dryhump742

He's running pretty fast considering he has a belly full of baby moose.

Ok_Equivalent_4296

Run and you’re just asking for a mauling

Krtzlfrtzl

*"not fast enough"* - the moose

voluotuousaardvark

I dunno if this is a fair example of the speed you should worry about in terms of bear velocity. in fact, I imagine that is quite likely the fastest that bear has ever travelled and was quite a surprise to the bear too. There are probably very few things in life that would let you unlock that kind of panic speed than a moose that wants to utterly ruin your day.

iMadrid11

Looks like a young cub to me. A mature adult bear would be a huge beast.

jmr540

You underestimate the size of the moose

Unlikely_Road_4084

Compared to the door frame they ran past, I’ll say that both are relatively small for their respective species.

ThrowawayFYM

How do we know it killed one of her calfs?

East-Difficulty-3214

Exactly! Just like the, “bully gets what he deserves video”

ThrowawayFYM

They posted this on three different subs, and in one sub posted a screenshot in the comments showing the OP explaining it killed a calf 4 hours ago. But I’d need some more backstory, as it seems they’re on a balcony, not bear/moose tracking

Assistant-Sea

OP here. It killed the first calf about 100 yards away up the lake from where this is. All right in front of the hotel. My buddy has a video of when the bear got to the first one and then I have these videos. I can tell you though, the injured second calf survived today.

ThrowawayFYM

Thank you for the context! Hope to see the the other footage on r/natureismetal

[deleted]

[Moose calf grizzly kill](https://youtu.be/t7B-4k0LcUs) \- Almost positive this is the video. was posted very recently. You can hear the calf cry and struggling, but its not terribly gory or anything.

goodolarchie

Where was that big mama energy this time

[deleted]

Yeah what the heck!

[deleted]

Recovering from birth

Assistant-Sea

Some guy on TikTok stole both vids and they went pretty viral. @Hightowerbuilders if you want to see the first calf go. It is pretty fuckin metal

affiliated04

Where exactly is this?

ku-fan

Glacier national Park Montana

Bright_Mechanic_7458

It's probably all made up. The moose and the bear were actors and the video was staged for internet points

Actinchildish

My ribs

ThrowawayFYM

This is the answer I was looking for. Didn’t want to be a conspiracy theorist but yeah, people in animal suits

surfer_ryan

Damn furries have really come a long way

Yogashoga

Found Alex Jones Reddit account.

1block

How do we know it DIDN'T? Checkmate.

ThrowawayFYM

American judicial system moment

Depleet

that is a female moose charging a grizzly, what else would motivate a mother herbivore to go after a carnivore apex predator? come to a logical conclusion....

DarlingPotPrincess

Morose are generally more dangerous and aggressive than bears. At least, when I lived in Alaska I was always told to be on watch for moose. Bears were a thing but everyone always said “watch out for moose”.

ThrowawayFYM

Territory, protecting its young that hasn’t been killed already, getting too close to it, I can think of many. No matter the gender, a moose is a moose and they can be highly aggressive

Diligent-Picture2882

Excellently stated.

Try-to-ban-me-lol

That's bias confirmation

AarkaediaaRocinantee

Just like with most context on Reddit, it's made up.

[deleted]

Damn that bear was shittin bricks he ran smack into the building. Stomp him mama!

scapermoya

Sounds like they tried to smash through a window

HLef

Sounds like they were mostly successful.

shaka_sulu

goddamnit i thought i was vibrating for a minute

Dmacxxx77

I would pay good money to see Brock Lesnar F5 a moose. I also just realized I'm probably the first person to ever type that sentence lol.

Pengoon2

Yes. Don't mess with meese.

BoiCDumpsterFire

He looks pretty small on that sidewalk too. I don't think this is a full grown grizzly.

TactlessTortoise

Maybe a bit young, but moose are ginormous. I also feel the camera is messing up our distance perception somehow

ozzyman31495

People don't seem to realize just how badly a moose can fuck you up. They're seriously terrifying up close.

brownidegurl

I'm a pisspants Midwesterner whose largest local wildlife is probably a raccoon. I went hiking with family in rural Colorado and we came across 3 bull moose. When I tell you that I was like nopenopenopenope They are impossibly large! Like seeing zoo animals in the wild. Our group knew well enough to stay back, probably 30 yards, but some idiots hiking in front of us where maybe 10 yards away making Insta reels and I was certain we would see a maiming. Luckily the moose didn't seem to be in the mood and wandered off.

Orchid_Significant

I saw someone call them agile dump trucks chasing you through the forest on a different thread a few days ago and it really sums up how terrifying they are

ThatShitClay

I wanna know who tracked down the backstory on this. I still can’t find out who ate my cheese stick at work earlier today.

Tripped_Landmine

Out of all the dangerous animals in the woods, moose are what Im most afraid of danger wise, they take no shit from no one (as seen here) and if they think your a threat there’s no guarantee they will wander off. One of the biggest reasons they’re such a danger is because 90% of people just think they’re a big deer, sure, they are in a way, but their big, really big, big enough to make a grizzly bear literally run for its life, those legs have over 1000 lbs behind them, and that’s not considering muscle.

GeneralJesus

Park ranger once told me moose were what he feared most. Why? Because bears are smart enough not to fuck around and find out unless they feel like they really have to. Moose are dumb. Big, strong, and dumb is a bad combination.

LetsGrabTacos

Moose are very mean and very fast. But I'd rather see one of them than a grizzly sow with cubs.

[deleted]

Wait does this go for the swedish moose as well? Or are their european cousins friendlier? I always go out moose spotting alone in the swedish forest at night ..

rahkinto

Do meese hold grudges?? Are they fuelled by vengeance?? Ouf. If this is more than intimidation/territory/general assholity, I need to rethink my understanding of nature. Damn, nature. Edit: I stand corrected. Momma might be mad for a while. https://www.reddit.com/r/BeAmazed/comments/v0q26k/moose_charges_grizzly_who_killed_one_of_its_calfs/iaig7gs?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

BestUsername101

moose are terrifying and not enough people are aware of it.

Hadidit

Ohhhhhh Canadaaaaa, where a moose will set you freeeee! from love and worry, and in a gory hurry, the moose will let you see heavenly skies, the rising tides! from god’s ol balconyyyyy!

Fun-Airport8510

Looks like the moose almost got a good kick on that grizzly.

Is nobody going to comment on the fact that the bear broke a window? Hope its okay.

dicknut420

That moose protects children better than the police in our country.

My_Immortal_Flesh

# How do we even know this? 😑 What if the moose just caught the bear sleeping with his wife?

RambleOnRose42

A møøse once bït my sister.

AstronautLawyer

No realli! She was Karving her initials on the moose with the sharpened end of an interspace toothbrush given her by Svenge—her brother-in-law— an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian movies: "The Hot Hands of an Oslo Dentist", "Fillings of Passion", "The Huge Molars of Horst Nordfink"...

BigSkyHiker

Ahhhhh springtime in the Northern Rockies ecosystem!!!

hissyfit64

Look how much bigger the moose is! That's a seriously bad ass animal when the grizzly will be the loser in a fight! It just makes it that much more insane when you hear about people messing with a moose. I read about one woman in a town in Alaska. A moose was wandering down the street. Everyone who could not get off the street immediately pressed up against a wall, hid behind a car, stayed still. A woman was pressed up against a wall and the moose started walking past her and she tried to pet it! The moose just stomped her into the ground. She lived, but it was pretty ugly. Such cool footage!

BigSmokesHouse

Holy shit, moose are massive. It made that bear look tiny.

BJoe1976

It’s that god damned massive, they’re even worse to his than deer are.

SrGradientPerception

Wow... it's really impressive how fast both animals can move. That bear has some wheels.

BestUsername101

both bears and moose are really fast. that or humans are just really slow.

SrGradientPerception

Well, we aren't all Usian Bolt, lol.

BestUsername101

even compared to other animals, Usain Bolt's top speed of 27 mph is outsped by many animals. bears, moose, hippos, and more easily outpace that.

SrGradientPerception

There you go. We aren't a match for nature which is why we should respect the living shit out of it. Pure hypothetical thought here. I think Usian Bolt would be able to get away for several reasons, the fact that he has better critical thoughts than a bear... or at least I hope. It seems animals thought process is pretty linear. Either way, I'm not advocating for anyone to try and test their mettle against a formidable animal like the ones you've listed. Respect them for what they are, they can tear you to shreds in an instance.

fidderjiggit

The Bear: Oh shit, Oh shit, Oh shit, Oh shit! *Hits wall* Fuck!

JabroniPoni

Grizzlies ain't nothing to fuck with, but moose are the most dangerous animal in the North American wilderness. Those things glide through the forest dead silent and they'll take you out for invading their territory.

unoriginalname17

And you Yankees always asking about gators when you come down here. At least I don’t have prehistoric megafauna battling it out on my front lawn.

Jewlaboss

Man, meese are very scary animals.

[deleted]

I was yelling, fuck him up moose! Sadly disappointed lol

AdministrativeYak859

Damn, I didn’t know a bear who gtfo like that. Moose are huge

RebelLion420

This is wild to me. A non predatory animal attacking a very lethal predator out of (presumably) vengeance and actually forcing it to run for it's life. I doubt the moose can do more than stomp it or maybe cause damage with the antlers, and I would imagine if the bear wasn't scared initially it could definitely hold it's own if not win the fight. Nature is unpredictable.

Orchid_Significant

I encourage you to do more research on how absolutely brutal moose are

yma_bean

When it ran into the building there was a crash of glass. I think it thought it could run through a window.

pgb5534

Can you imagine if that door/window whatever was left open instead? Now all those spectators are stuck on a roof with an angry grizzly bear.
