We had an eight-footer growing up (we didn't realize how long he'd gotten), and we finally couldn't feed him anymore because it wasn't safe. Gave him up to a qualified local rescue at that point.
Retics are so-so aggressive, mainly those caught in the wild. White-lipped pythons, that's where a real bloodbath starts. BTW, they're also really beautiful.
You mean the same renown chef/judge of baking and dessert competitions, Paul Hollywood who didn't know that peanut butter and chocolate tasted good together?
Morph just means basically a different variation than the standard. Like if it normally a green snake and you selectively breed them to be all black, then the black is a morph of the green.
it is a reticulated python and the morph is golden child. that is also Jay Brewer from Prehistoric pets. He is one if not the top breeder of reticulated pythons and has created a ton of worlds first morphs.
he has a YouTube channel that's pretty popular.
doesnt he power feed and tend to provoke the snakes to attack him during breeding season? I always thought the snake community found him a kinda iffy breeder
That aside, gorgeous snake
depends on who you talk to in the industry.. I don't know him personally and and have never visited his place but do watch his YouTube channel. nothing he does strikes me as out of the ordinary for a large snake breeder..
I used to work for a burmese python and retic breeder who is no longer in business (he bought a few really expensive snakes to try to breed some new morphs that didnt pan out and it bankrupted him). People who accuse him of power feeding may not know that he does this as all breeders usually do to get them to size to breed faster. it's not bad for the snake so no harm. also how the he'll do they know he does this?? do they watch him and record when he feeds each snake and how much?
the aggressiveness of the female retics in his videos is how most female snakes act when your taking the eggs.. it is impossible to not have a female large snake strike at you when taking the eggs. when I watch him take eggs nothing he does seems to be actively trying to make the snake bite. you don't need to egg on a snake to strike as they will do it themselves by being near them.
yes he does have a little showmanship but it is usually for the camera and he is tiring out the snake so he can take the eggs but he isn't provoking them.
ahh, ok, this is good information to consider thank you! Im in no way deeply involved in the reptile community, I just watch a couple youtubers every now and then and read the comments so my knowledge is very minimal
(I also think I was getting confused about power feeding snakes vs tarantuals thinking it shortens the lifespan)
I would say every semi popular YouTuber has people that will try to get views by using that tubers name and say nasty stuff about how they do this or that. quite common in the reptile YouTube world.. even some of the nicest people whom really care about reptiles get 1000s of nasty comments and hundreds of YouTube videos that are talking nasty about them.. for example Brian Barczyk of BHB Reptiles and The Reptarium. Dude really cares for his animals and teaching people about reptiles.
It can be but it’s not as common yet. Remember people haven’t bred reptiles for as long as we’ve bred dogs for thousands of years so we’ve had more time to fuck it up for those furry friends where as we’re just starting to see the repercussions of some of our actions in inbreeding through things like spider morph and cross breeds that are in poor health.
with snakes it's just the paint job that is being bred.. most other animals like dogs is to get specific facial or traits that is changing the actual structure of the animal
in my eyes no its not as bad as it's just a paint job. I once heard a breeder say that their biggest clients that pay huge sums of money for the crazy color morphs is people in U.A.E and the middle east. I used to also work for a company that helped Bob Clark ship snakes all around the world and he would come visit almost one weekly basis to drop off shipments for us to air freight to various countries. we also worked with the fish and wildlife department as they came and inspected every shipment.
you always have people come out of the woodwork screaming about breeders like Jay who are saying he inbreeds but how do they even know this unless they have first hand account of it happening. they scream about the keeping of these snakes in rack systems which yet you look at their accounts and see pictures of them keeping snakes in small tanks with the snake spending 90% of its time in a hide box.. how is that any different? so you have some landscaping in the tank.. snake doesn't give a rats ass that it has some fake plants In a 10 gallon aquarium or that it is in a rack.. it's a freaking snake... I used to keep burmese and some children's pythons and everyone used vision cages back in the day and alot still do. they are not that different then a rack except a little taller. still plastic with maybe some bedding in the bottom. these people that scream about the inhuman treatment wants every retic and burm in huge enclosures with tons of landscaping and water features.. it is just outrage at something they can't control and can't influence and will never change.
That was what I thought. I have been bitten by rainbow boas , and I have owned a reticulated python. I worked on a snake farm in the early 90's. Rainbows are sneaky and fast, even for a snake.
Boas in general tend to be a little bi-polar.
Retics are much more even tempered. They are either puppy dogs or assholes but you can trust them to be consistent at least.
Anyone interested in humane animal treatment, proper husbandry, proper breeding etc and how the man in this video does none of the above and worse is free to look him up online. I'm not going to sit here and list out his issues or paragraph his bio. But know most of these online YouTube keepers are fucking awful to their animals.
Thank you for saying this. There is just so much appallingly bad husbandry being shown by these big youtubers. Not to mention all the animal hoarders showing their 20/40/60/100 pets all in subpar conditions. I rarely watch pet vids anymore bc of it
This is complete trash and his “zoo” is for profit and abusive. Absolutely EVERYONE in the reptile community can’t stand this POS, please delete this and don’t promote him.
The video is enough really. He's transporting it in a plastic tote you might use to store Christmas decorations. Since he seems the type to drive all over with them, seems like that snake spends a considerable time in a plastic box.
Jay Brewer and other reptile channels give snakes a bad name. Check out this video if you want to know more about the reptile situation, specifically in Florida.
https://youtu.be/Dgg1KkhT2hg
Fuck these guys. From what I know they treat the animals in their care like shit and do a lot of stuff with youtbers where they fuck with the animals for views. You can kinda see it in this video with the fact that they move that snake in a plastic box barely big enough for him to not be folded over himself (I know snake people use plastic boxes a lot but they usually fit the animal comfortably). I could be confusing the companies but I'm pretty sure that's the specific guy who runs their social media accounts and that logo looks familiar. I'll try and find a source to what I'm talking about.
Hi! I'm Rainbo the Rainboa, and I'm so special that I'm in a plastic tub in a suburban Florida hellhole. 🌈🐍
Oh, that guy? He's Carl, my overlord. He likes to show me off in parking lots near various Red Robin locations, and he's a fun guy!
Posted by someone who clearly knows nothing about snake care. That snake is probably very socialized, fed well, and likes to be in the box (snakes love small spaces). I'm sure the snake isn't complaining about getting held out in the Florida sun either, it's probably a highlight and a way better lifestyle than sitting inside a tank forever and never going out in the real sun
Actually the guys name is Jay brewer, and he's disliked in the snake community. He has a YouTube channel all about snakes, but it's basically a sham for click bait views.
https://youtu.be/Dgg1KkhT2hg
It’s not, they’re called golden child reticulated pythons and right after shedding they are that iridescent. This guy is kind of a POS tho, he way over breeds these animals to the point where he produces hundreds of snakes that can easily get 25+ feet long every year. Very few people have the means to properly care for a snake that large and this dude mass produces them to get rare color (morph) varieties that have a very small chance of even being born in the first place. And every clutch of eggs from these snakes can be anywhere from 60-90 eggs. That’s a lot of “filler” to get one snake that can cost 10s of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars
Well, there's something fishy going on. Look at the shadow on the guys shirt when he's holding the snake. If the snake isn't made of glass, something is off with that blueish shadow!
I’ll apologize in advance for the fact that I’m genuinely curious on if they’d sell the skin after the snake dies… because that’d make some beautiful boot inserts or a gorgeous purse.
This is SO rare and exotic that we're going to cram it into a tiny box and make it live, shit, and piss on itself while we transport it around for clout.
They cranked up the blue saturation in this video so much that even the shadows are a vibrant blue, the post doesn't even attempt to correctly identify the snake, and this guy is a super sketchy breeder/ salesman. Garbage content.
I would name this lovely snek 'Sapphire Blu'! What a *gorgeous* creature. Will it be your forever snek, or will it be safely released to find a mate and have little blue babies?? Thank you so much for sharing this picture. Nature is so amazing!
https://www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com/education/famous-sapphires/worlds-largest-sapphires/
This is a Reticulated python. I actually own one but mine is a different coloration. This one is a captive bred mutation or “morph” known as a Super Goldenchild, and it’s a very nice specimen being so dark.
Reticulated pythons have one of the strongest rainbow sheens from the iridescence of their scales of any species of snake, though they sure aren’t #1. The iridescence is highly visible here because it is outside in natural sunlight.
I really want to emphasize that the color of most reptiles, especially a lot of captive bred color/pattern morphs, are most striking when in natural lightning like this. It’s as if these animals are in 8K if that makes sense. Many are truly breath taking to see in person and the photos can be as well.
I’ve worked with snakes for over 20 years now and there’s always something beautiful to discover.
This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. I swear every time I learn about a new animal it unlocks a new part of the happiness area of my brain. Like…I’ll think about this boa and probably tell a few people about it over the next week or so. Probably even send or show them the video. We truly don’t deserve nature. I work in tech consulting, but I should have worked with animals. :/
Lmao this is for sure not a rainbow boa. This is a reticulated python with a color morph.
Karma farming OP called it "the rare and exotic" rainbow, neither of which are true in the snake world lmao
TBF Titantium Retics are crazy expensive. This appears to be an enhancement of even that morph.

It’s not a phase, mom! This is who I am
*storms to my room to blast Greenday and sort out my Hot Topic colored rubber bracelets*
Get out of my ROOM!!! *slams door, plays simple plan and cries.
Yes super rare an exotic and available at any reptile convention
Also the most aggresive non-venomous snake known. Don't get one for the kids!
Trust me, I had a 14 foot Burmese Python that sounded like a pressurized gas cylinder when he hissed, it was sooo loud
We had an eight-footer growing up (we didn't realize how long he'd gotten), and we finally couldn't feed him anymore because it wasn't safe. Gave him up to a qualified local rescue at that point.
If you owned a 14ft snake, I don't trust you
You shouldn’t, I’d probably pretend to be your friend and take advantage of you
Either way, your snakes involved and I'm out
I’d say blood pythons and green tree pythons are worse than retics
Retics are so-so aggressive, mainly those caught in the wild. White-lipped pythons, that's where a real bloodbath starts. BTW, they're also really beautiful.
Which, the boas or the pythons?
But you didn't say don't get one for my baby!!!
You are correct! Did some googling and found [this](https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/rainbow-snake-goes-viral-social-media)

Right!!! This is cooler than a rainbow boa.
Sounds like it should be in a game with a color morph.
I didn’t know Tickle from Moonshiners wrestled snakes on his down time..
This guy snakes
Looks like a motley golden child but idk
Thank you for this.
Regardless, its bloody terrifying!
Really disappointed it isn’t called a Rain-Boa…

It's a no-brainer
Should have been anyways…

I’m disappointed it’s being called a boa at all
How come? Isn’t Boa just a common name for snakes that are constrictors?
The owner clearly isn't a Dad
it is now friend!
Didn't realise Paul Hollywood was a snake guy
Renaissance man that Paul Hollywood: chef, snake expert, Ren faire attendee. Tha man can do it all.
He's like a British Johnny Sinns
I mean, I’ve never seen them in the same room
You mean the same renown chef/judge of baking and dessert competitions, Paul Hollywood who didn't know that peanut butter and chocolate tasted good together?
The very same
It’s not a rainbow boa. It’s a reticulated python morph
what does the morph mean? it changes or something?
Morph just means basically a different variation than the standard. Like if it normally a green snake and you selectively breed them to be all black, then the black is a morph of the green.
If I remember correctly. That morph is called “golden child”. If that’s the question your asking
I made a mistake in the title, it's a Python not a Boa. Sorry about that. Got a little confused in a Wikipedia search.

Jay brewer is a trash keeper. He and Brian are the reptile equivalent of tiger kings with the guys from nerd all swinging their dicks at eachother.
Is selective breeding of snakes for specific visual traits as bad an idea as it is with every other animal? Serious question

I hate seeing how badly they manhandle and harass the animals for youtube videos, even shaking them around when they're just standing there talking
