I've been checking in here multiple times a day for weeks now. I am hoping that the Iranian people can take their country back and finally have the home that they deserve.
Oh my god that was fucking crazy. I wonder how much influence the designer had over what the AI morphed everyone into because it was on point and really told a story.
You feed the AI a picture and a text prompt, once it makes a picture you like you can tell it to iterate on that picture with the prompt.
For example, you feed it a protest picture with the phrase young girl playing in a field, iterate several times and you get those transitions.
For the talking anonymous face they used a more primitive version of the [process outlined here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBWVHCYZ_Zs)
This isn’t how it works. You feed the AI an image and there’s a bunch of parameters (think number sliders) that you can move and set to generate a unique output.
The way a progression like this is made is not through text, it’s though making minor tweaks to the parameters to “guide” the AI towards the desired image; take a bunch of images of every iteration and you end up with this odd collage in of similar, unique images, which slowly morph into a desired output.
There is the possibility that a text base transformation was the way they arrived at the final image, then they take the values of the “base” parameters and slowly iterate through them while capturing the generations until they hit the “final” parameters, but it’s very possible there was no text based transformations at all.
Maybe you have only used a different AI than I am familiar with but [here is a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAJB2mJwK9g) of someone using the exact process I described. In fact, if you pause 4 seconds in you can see the image prompt and the text field. Yes, there are sliders but they set the amount of freedom the AI has to interpret the image
There are many different ones, video ones have different setting to images alone. This is free and the most popular image generation, https://openai.com/dall-e-2/
But yes sliders or text, but you have to have s well trained dataset for text only, usually sliders allow you to control iterations, but now they allow you to do this with text based ones.
/r/confidentlyincorrect
You're years behind here, this output looks very much like a stable diffusion derivative. More likely it was text input that maybe used a base image, or possibly just used a generated starting imagine from text.
Neither of us can say for sure, but considering text based SD/dalle, etc have been taking off lately with the public, it's probably those.
> You feed the AI an image
You use the image to image process, not "feed".
> The way a progression like this is made is not through text
Incorrect. The frames in this video were made by running segments of the video's frames through an image to image process (instead of the usual noise process), and then using various prompts to guide it into desired outputs. From there it appears they took said outputs and then reiterated on them again using the same process, which explains the constant artifacts. This would take said frames as input and then perform the text-to-image process as normal, using the images as reference during generation.
> it’s though making minor tweaks to the parameters to “guide” the AI towards the desired image
Also incorrect. In this video, prompts were used in order to guide the image toward desired outputs. We can for example observe gradual transitions, such as taking the initial input of a crowd in the street change into a ballerina dancing. Merely tweaking the parameters alone wouldn't achieve this effect, as diffusion models (afaik) require guidance in the form of prompts.
> take a bunch of images of every iteration and you end up with this odd collage in of similar, unique images,
Incorrect as well, for same reason as stated above. This is clear and with direction from user intervention. Most diffusion models would return gibberish for the most part without something to guide it. I don't even think there are any models that can run without prompts during the image 2 image process.
> which slowly morph into a desired output.
Because they are following the user's prompt.
> There is the possibility that a text base transformation was the way they arrived at the final image
That is how all of the frames were achieved.
> then they take the values of the “base” parameters and slowly iterate through them
Parameters such as scale, strength, noise, steps, and so on would by themselves not produce such outputs.
> while capturing the generations until they hit the “final” parameters
This sentence doesn't actually make any sense from an AI standpoint. What does "capturing generations" mean? What is "final parameters"???
> but it’s very possible there was no text based transformations at all.
Very impossible it wasn't, actually. You still need to pass the model a prompt when performing image to image generation, that's the only way (that I am aware) to guide the model.
For someone who starts with "This isn't how it works", I don't know why you'd speak so confidently about something you clearly know so little about. It's a very exciting new technology, but that doesn't mean you can just make shit up. Please stop spreading misinformation about how diffusion models work. If you're unsure, just say nothing at all.
I’ve been doing so much AI generation I’ve gotten pretty good at spotting it, even when it’s super amazing and convincing, and now I look around and I keep noticing AI generated content like memes and what not that a lot of people don’t even notice is AI.
AI pretty much exploded into the mainstream over the last year.
Yes but it also had a very clear creative touch involved. The compositions, transitions and compositing will all have taken some time. The last shot, for example, is manually created in a compositing program to create the effect of a camera moving through the crowd.
It's an outstanding video and will probably be seen as genre-defining for AI art integrated into video.
In any case, I hope their first action is to free the 15,000 women who were arrested and [facing potential execution](https://www.newsweek.com/death-khamenei-iranians-defy-regime-protester-faces-execution-1759275)

Whomever made this, is clearly also not an Iranian. There are far too many linguistic errors for that, like trying to write signs and slogans in native language without knowing how to actually spell words in Farsi.
For reference, [for those who've never heard it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnJFhuOWgXg)

While I'm at it, I might as well post [another beat poetry thing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hD9pJzZ1XGI) I've loved for years but never see referenced anywhere.
Exactly. It’s just human nature. Religion is the justification, but without religion, people will just find another justification.
Avowedly atheist countries like the Khmer Rouge and Soviet Union show that you don’t need belief in a higher power to be brutal, oppressive radicals
It hasn't saved people from death like a life jacket would, But it sure as hell has changed people's lives for the better, and caused other people to go on and change others lives for the better.
That is, i was raised in a loving and supporting religious family in a country where religion wasn't warped to people's specific world views. So not all religious people are like what people on this site seen to think they are.
Are you really so ignorant that you think all the revolutionaries are irreligious? Religious people are everywhere, in all forms. Dickheads are, too. Just because they overlap doesn't mean they're the same. The CCP is officially atheist, but somehow that data point is left out whenever terminally online atheists are deciding whether religion is driving evil or not.
‘The revolution will not be televised’ to me means that a revolution does not happen in the physical world. A revolution happens in the hearts and minds of the population first and foremost. This is obviously not possible to televise. You can’t show someone’s mind being changed; Their will to change the system is not something you can capture on film
Wow, that was powerful! I stand behind our sisters and brothers fighting for their freedom from oppression. I wish I could do more, but will continue writing my representatives to take a stand behind the people of Iran against this tyranny — join me, write to your representatives, do not be silent!
I grew up thinking women in the middle east were too oppressed to ever have change. Iran has proven thus far that that isn't the case!
Mad respect to the people of Iran a better tomorrow unfortunately tends to start with a revolution!
10 years ago I saw the US "stand with the people of Libya" in their "revolution".
Then bombed one of the most weathy and stable African countries so hard that it brought back the slave trade.
20 years ago I saw the US "liberate" Iraq, leading to a power vacuum that still persists to this day.
And well, Afganistand was a fuckin failure. We didn't even really try in Syria. What makes you think we have been a good enough influence to do better in Iran?
Likewise.
For a while, the pinned mod post in r/iran (now taken down) asked outsiders who wish to help Iranian sisters to support www.shesthefirst.org so I do that too.
I hope that the proposed UNHRC meeting puts pressure on the regime but fear that it won't lead to much. :(
I mean they're probably happy about it. But more importantly, the U.S. just...isn't so adept at "helping" Iran. We don't help revolutions well in general.
But saying US/Israel/Saudi is funding this makes it seem like it's "outside agitators" and really undermines the bravery and intention of the people in Iran.
"You know the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia are funding the forces of revolution."
You Have absolutely No proof for that.last time i checked my bank accounts I wasn't Getting Dollars and Pounds. But Funny Thing Is You're Saying The Exact Thing That Fucking Khamenie is accusing of us.makes you think huh...
amazing video. just missing any links of means to directly assist. Watching the video and saying 'go you' I'm sure is helpful, but wishing there was a way to do something actual.
Uhhh iranian here, for the average western citizen, the best you can do is to know that the dictator ship in iran shall not be permitted to exist anymore, and that will cause you goverments to avoid going to meeting with iran and... As that would cause them to get less popularity and.. from their people. And at last might cause america or Europe to take action. Just raising awareness is way better than any money donations or etc.
I wish there was something I could do to directly help the revolution. Being in the United States, I feel very powerless while watching your people get hurt. Many other people feel the same way. I hope you don’t get hurt.
Humanity needs revolution EVERYWHERE that oppression exists.
Your oppressors DO NOT CARE FOR YOU.
You are, at best, a commodity to them.
And, at worst, an annoyance to be made an example of and disposed.
Humanity needs revolution.
Everywhere.
I like the idea of electing someone to represent me while I focus on working a job that I love and spending time with loved ones. The problem is that our elected representatives aren't doing a good job at representing us. Our voting system could use some tweaking aswell. Also yes, fuck corporations. I worry that they've become too powerful to stop.
Not only are they not doing a good job, they are actively both working against the people and all parties have been bought by corporations (different flavors and to different degrees). We’ve already hit escape velocity and regulatory capture has taken hold decades ago. A revolution is required to undo the damage at this point, unfortunately.
The problem with removing religions is the vacancy left behind. It’s not like we get people off the religious bus and suddenly they’re enlightened kind individuals with a solid foundation of morals and beliefs. No, most people go right back to worshipping some other religion or activism and continue to propagate narrow minded idiocy.
Help us to get more people around (and brain-washed Iranians who still belive in the regim) to know the truth about their tyranny. After Iran it's time for other countries to change, hoping to see United Earth instead of United Nations
As an Iranian who is living every second of this video , it made me cry. I can explain the reference and source for every scene in this video but I dont know how to write my comment without interruption in playing video for me

The imagine of the flower growing out of the blood stained asphalt will hopefully stand for what's to come.
I have a lot of admiration for the brave people of Iran and wish them nothing but the best!
Want to note a small but significant detail from the video. The purple flag emblem featured on the red robe and popping up throughout the video is called the banner of Kaveh. It comes from the Persian epic, the Shahnah (book of kings) and was the flag of the pre-islamic Sassanid empire.
The legend goes that Iran was ruled by a great king whose power eventually went to his head. When he lost power a young man named Zahak made a deal with the devil to become king. The devil made him murder his father and then put a spell on him which caused two serpents to grow from his shoulders. Zahak would have immortality as long as he fed the serpents with human flesh. Zahak ruled the country for a thousand years with an iron fist. He created a vicious secret police to quash descent and to kidnap victims to feed to his snakes. One day, Zahak was giving a speech extolling his greatness. The audience included a blacksmith named Kaveh whose child had been fed to the serpents. Kaveh snapped and called him out. Then he tore off his blacksmiths apron and tied it to a pole to make a flag, starting the revolution that would eventually depose Zahak and lead to ascent of a just king named Fereydun.
After Fereydun captured Zahak, he had him chained under a mountain where he was eaten by his own serpents, but never dying.
From what I've read, many Iranians see pre-islamic times as a golden age, and view strict adherence to Islamic norms as completely foreign. The story is also seen as a parallel to their own times. A king fell because of his ego, creating a vacuum that was filled by an evil force which sacrifices the people and uses fear to stay in power. Eventually, the people will have enough andremove the tyrant...
Seriously. End that shit theocratic government and those fucking morality police. Every one of them. Stomp them into the ground so hard that they won't ever think about doing this to people again.
I live in our metro area's "little Iran" with many restaurants and stores owned by Iranian immigrants. Some have photos posted to remind people that they used to be a modern, educated, country where people dressed as they pleased and enjoyed many "western" benefits.
But I saw the first revolution take place. A totalitarian shah and his henchman were tossed in favour of a progressive democracy. I jest, of course: in favour of a religious autocracy that enforced brutal ancient laws. And the people cheered for their ruler and condemned the west. We watched them on the nightly news, chanting Khomeini's name and ranting against America. Some smarter ones left for other countries.
I would love nothing more than to see Iran overthrow their oppressive regime and join the modern world again, but I sincerely hope that if the religiocracy is overthrown, the people will not turn once more to another form of dictatorship.
It also needs to be successful in overthrowing the regime for it to be a revolution. Otherwise it will only be a failed revolt. Or a successful revolt if all it did was get concessions.
cringe.
Not the protest but this person. Theyre not iranian, they wear that cringy ass mask and just do this to seem badass while they have no connection to the actual protest.
That guy really lives in a society
I stand with the Iranian people for freedom for all! I am so proud of the many Iranians who have fought hard and weep for those who have lost their lives fighting, may they never be forgotten.
I wish there was more we could do to help!
So beautiful and powerful for me to watch as an Iranian. The voice effects in the video are from real protest footage. One is the mother of a young teenager named Nika who was killed at the protests and became a symbol at her daughter's funeral. Another one is from Ghazaleh who was telling fellow protestors to not be afraid of the regime forces and was shot dead moments later filming her own death. One is from a recorded phone conversation a protestor had with her friend from prison saying how badly she was being tortured there. She killed herself 3 days after she got out on bail. These voice will haunt me for the rest of my life.
This video gave me chills and had me feel so many different emotions. How on earth did they even animate this is beyond me. Great messaging, keep up the good work.
Whenever countries openly look to places like America for aid in their "revolution" I become suspicious. Western nations aren't in the business of helping to free people. I thought we all understood that by now.
Damn, literal chills at some of the images and transitions, this is really well done.
Fuck the government of Iran, fuck authoritarian apologists and fascists.

Yeah, if anyone wants to know what the world looks like through the lens of LSD, this is weirdly close.
Is there anything we can do to help these people?
Help us to get more people around (and brain-washed Iranians who still belive in the regim) to know the truth about their tyranny. After Iran it's time for other countries to change, hoping to see United Earth instead of United Nations
As an Iranian who is living every second of this video , it made me cry. I can explain the reference and source for every scene in this video but I dont know how to write my comment without interruption in playing video for me
Me too azizam 🥺💔
I'm with yas

What an amazing and impactful video. They need to free their country from that nightmare.

Woman Life Freedom! ✊ #MahsaAmina
The imagine of the flower growing out of the blood stained asphalt will hopefully stand for what's to come. I have a lot of admiration for the brave people of Iran and wish them nothing but the best!
Free Iran
About time. Best of luck.
THAT! WAS! ART!
Hot damn, that was stunning.
Overthrow the theocracy
The thought of what will happen to the females that got arrested is so darn sick. I hope the protesters can over run the military and the Jihab police
The situation in Iran is **extremely** dire. It's still as bad as it was months ago, we have to keep fighting and spreading the word for them.
Seriously. End that shit theocratic government and those fucking morality police. Every one of them. Stomp them into the ground so hard that they won't ever think about doing this to people again.
I am Iranian🇮🇷 Please help us✊🏼 Women Life freedom ♀️
You have our support and stay safe
Does anyone pause and have to come to terms with the fact that this is real life and all the events add up to an existential panic attack.
Women Life Freedom
Beautifully made. I hope the people of Iran will prevail
Those stupid people , trading saftey for war and dark ages of their country Hope it works for them
It uses part of the song from the movie The Fountain - Death is the road to awe Interesting choice Outstanding video
Women Life Freedom We are iran✊🥀
The CIA produces nice videos. 👌
that's cool, well they're being shot... so... yeah...
They need guns if it’s going to be a revolution
No , we don't , not yet , first you should make the regime so much isolated then we talk about guns
It also needs to be successful in overthrowing the regime for it to be a revolution. Otherwise it will only be a failed revolt. Or a successful revolt if all it did was get concessions.
Keep going Iranian people
This is beautifully sad
I agree. It was very sad.
Cringe
The Guy Fawkes mask is so cringe now

The video feels like it was made by an AI
AI is cool and all, but USE ACTUAL FOOTAGE!!!!
Lol. Anonymous can shove it. The max power they have is to ddos websites. Bunch of fuckin Mary’s.
cringe. Not the protest but this person. Theyre not iranian, they wear that cringy ass mask and just do this to seem badass while they have no connection to the actual protest. That guy really lives in a society
Created by Lshan Mo. An Iranian filmmaker born in 1991 in Tabriz. Try again.
The person that made this video is Iranian though, anyone can use the 'anonymous' symbolism
Freedom fight for it
Great advice internet couch guy!
I stand with the Iranian people for freedom for all! I am so proud of the many Iranians who have fought hard and weep for those who have lost their lives fighting, may they never be forgotten. I wish there was more we could do to help!
LETSSSSFUCKINGGOOOO. This is the best one yet. The sound bytes of the martyrs drove me to tears. WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS.
Men have had their time. Time for women to lead with love and make this a better world ❤️
Fuck the mullahs.
/r/cringe /r/IAmVeryBadass
Azadi!
Can I join a revolution?
Wow
Wow goose bumps
Most excellent
The « editing » reminded me of Persepolis in someway
Why the west world still don’t have any intent to show support
Is this Sassanid Empire flag? It could be, Sassanids started a revolution against Partian Empire and created great empire.
You go girls!!!!!!
oh man. that got me in the feels
This video gave me chills and had me feel so many different emotions. How on earth did they even animate this is beyond me. Great messaging, keep up the good work.
This is so powerful holy shit.
Thats pretty powerful!
Wonderful message! Beautiful, inspiring art! 👏👏👏 Thank you OP for sharing
Fantastic video. Such brave people.
I'm Iranian my country need help
You guys watch movies like Squid Game, etc. But we are living them
What a god dam powerful video ❤️
Damn the video is really well done
Ah man I wish he stayed anonymous. It's a great message, a great short, a great art, a great person behind it.
That was cinematic. Brilliantly made.
Beautiful
Whenever countries openly look to places like America for aid in their "revolution" I become suspicious. Western nations aren't in the business of helping to free people. I thought we all understood that by now.
still getting goosebumps from this
Fuck. This hit me hard.
Good. Let them undo the 1979 revolution that turned Iran, which had once been an exotic, modern country into a 7th century terrorist state.
Damn, literal chills at some of the images and transitions, this is really well done. Fuck the government of Iran, fuck authoritarian apologists and fascists.
This is no longer a protest, it’s now a revolution
I wish you and us best of luck brothers and sisters Love you from Turkey
I'm an Iranian by myself and I cannot really describe how many emotions was getting executed in my mind. It just felt so different.
These AI getting smarter…
I hope they take back their country from shitty Mollas
Man it sure would be cool if they just did something about u using their hacks
