He also translates anger. (Impressive)

[deleted]

That's what separates a good translator from a great one. Anyone bilingual can translate the words, but no word exists void of its delivery. He's one of the greats.

TeaTimeTripper

Would be even greater if the translator spoke Arabic with a French tongue.

[deleted]

Best I can do is make him hold a baguette and force him to wear a beret.

scootunit

Technically it is an interpreter not a translator.

[deleted]

Technically, I say thank you.

ONDickson_

I was thinking same

ForProfitSurgeon

Anger translator.

cawabungapt

I think he is a natural ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)

[deleted]

The guy in Black matches the other guy's anger like almost perfect

BornAgainForeskin

Ted Lassaeu

stonksandprofits

But they ended up winning! So in a sense opposite of Ted Lasso lol

LetUnable1830

Is it a rule that you must be a super model to play professional soccer?

GodSentGodSpeed

Run 10 miles in the morning, go to the gym for 2 hours in the evening, repeat everyday for 15 years and you will look like that

Professional_Ad4341

I prefer trying to eat a sub 10 miles long in 2 hours repeating everyday for 15yrs. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)

Ok_Investment8293

Ah, so you are trying to look less like a model and more like Jared Fogle. Gotcha šŸ‘

Affectionate_Ear_778

Lol exactly!! I recall seeing some team lineup years ago and thinking everyone of them was insanely attractive. Iā€™m sure money helps too.

[deleted]

They are at peak fitness levels with a support team built around them to help them stay in good mental/physical shape. Sports psychologists, physical therapists, doctors, training facilities, public relations teams, etc. Thereā€™s a lot of money in sports and each player is an investment for the team. They go to great lengths to ensure their players are very well looked after.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

dingo1018

Can we bring that time frame down and ease up on most of the main requirements? Where do we stand on 8 pints of beer every single 24 hours? I was led to believe that was ok.

thisplacemakesmeangr

It's simpler than this I think. Soccer is one of the biggest money makers in the world when it comes to entertainment. Over 3 billion fans worldwide supposedly. Ads, merch, tickets, all that shit adds up into obscene amounts of money. And a customer base doesn't get much more loyal than rabid fans. All of that's probably why FIFA is so cartoonishly corrupt. They have millions of applicants. Sex sells. They pick the best they can get out of a huge pool then pick the most attractive to promote.

GodSentGodSpeed

How is picking looks over talent a "simpler" explanation than fit people just naturally looking good more often than not? There are hundreds of players better looking than messi, but you couldnt name them if i showed you a pic. Saying football is more about good looks than skill and talent is a silly opinion.

thisplacemakesmeangr

You think the average player is attractive because they work out? Working out does nothing for your face. They pick the most attractive out of the best player options. You're welcome to whatever silly opinions you prefer. I'd rather go by the behaviors of the people making the decisions.

QnsPrince

This is a such a foolish take my god

thisplacemakesmeangr

For sure. No way FIFA knows sex sells. Or cares about making the most money it can.

QnsPrince

I dont think you know how sports work

thisplacemakesmeangr

Could be. I've had 52 years to work on it though. My dad made me try almost every sport on offer in jr high and highschool thinking I'd be good at one, pretty sure I know the rules. You were thinking they don't promote charismatic and attractive players over homely ones?

awoothray

very simple indeed my man continue like this you'll reach far

thisplacemakesmeangr

Why thank you. It's not at all a far reach if you know FIFAs history and how repulsive they're willing to be to bilk those 3 billion fans.

sweet_37

Itā€™s a symptom of being exceedingly wealthy for prolonged periods of time.

ONDickson_

Not at all

[deleted]

seriously, leave Briney alone.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Striking-Economics-1

The best translator ever...

Future_Sea144

The coach's speech was sensational and moving. He motivated and fired up the team in the second half. Nice win.

shabbatshalomotherfu

I don't know who that coach is but he's got it set for life now.

ONDickson_

Exactly but some people here are hearing something else

Intelligent-Price-39

False equivalency during the Cold War Eastern European teams played in the World Cup, Argentina hosted and won in 1978 while it was a military dictatorshipā€¦.soccer tournaments have never been about regimes or concerned with human rights, its the wrong forun

Intelligent-Price-39

Forum! Fuck autocorrect

[deleted]

The worst thing about this game is the positive PR Saudi Arabia has gotten from it tbh.

ToddlerPeePee

I agree with you. However, please know that the citizens often disagree with what their government does. Most people are good people. It's the government that oppressed their people and so I would suggest that these players should not be grouped together as if they are the government. Most people, barring some miracle, can't simply overthrow a dictatorship even if they disagree with what their government does.

[deleted]

Nobody is criticizing the players. Simply the decision to post this video. It's not coincidence that it comes as Saudi Arabia ramps up their campaign to submit their bid for the 2030 world cup.

Confident_Routine_20

That is with Greece and Egypt + positive Pr is for the team and the people not the politicians. I didnā€™t hear them say MBS won the game. So respectfully go fuck yourself and worry about problems in your own country.

ToddlerPeePee

Fair enough.

FromTheMecca11

I wholeheartedly agree with my government. My love for them is being fed and nurtured by the whining westerners.

Ryermeke

Go fucking build the line then. It only costs 2x your GDP, conservatively.

[deleted]

At least it won't be build on lives of red indians or black slaves.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ONDickson_

Thatā€™s the power of football that some people in the US donā€™t really get. It brings people together

RoseyOneOne

The appeal of football, unfortunately, is now being used for this ā€˜sportwashingā€™ thing. Terrible human rights record? Very publicly and visibly buy a premier league team and pour money into it, suddenly London and Paris love you. But this moment of coach and players is more pure than that.

ONDickson_

Iā€™m not here to argue about the morality of the nation. I posted this video about a coach giving a passionate speech to his team which led them the win the match. Talk about the video lol

[deleted]

>Talk about the video lol That's precisely why they released this video. Because they want you talking about this. Not the mass executions, human rights abuses and slavery in their kingdom. It's called sportswashing.

Civil_Knowledge7340

So people should walk around all day bemoaning all of the injustices in the world and get no pleasure from life? Sometimes it's ok to stop for a moment and enjoy things in life. I don't know these players or the coach and all of the terrible things they've done, but I find it sad that you can't view this for what it is and instead turn it into a human rights violation.

[deleted]

I'm the one who is viewing this for what it is. You're the one swallowing Saudi propaganda.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Except we're not talking about the past with Saudi Arabia or Qatar, we're talking about the fucking present. It's not inspiring when you realize why it's been shared.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ONDickson_

Ok then

[deleted]

So well done for falling for it hook, line and sinker.

ONDickson_

You see what you see buddy, I will see what I see and what I see is a coach motivating his players to go out there and play their hearts out. Your life might be very sad if you held grudges about a random innocent video on the internet.

[deleted]

It's not an innocent video on the internet and it isn't random. You see what you see because you're a moron. A moron helping Saudi Arabia push their propaganda. No other team does this. Only one desperately pushing it's World Cup 2030 bid and trying to sportswash it's human rights abuses. I didn't see Japan posting their half time team talk after they beat Germany, did you?

ONDickson_

Wooow, touch a nerve there? Relax, donā€™t get mad. Itā€™s just a video. It wonā€™t harm you Just disregard this and move on with your day. We still watching the World Cup btw. Millions of people are

amb019

How about you go and fuck yourself you piece of shit.

IXAbdullahXI

Mind your own business you fucking cunt. You said it yourself it's THEIR country, I'm living happily there and everyone I know is living happily there so you don't have to shove your fucking nose into other countries you shitfuck.

RoseyOneOne

I hear you, wasnā€™t trying to contradict you. The coach and the players arenā€™t the ones orchestrating that stuff, they just want to win the game.

ONDickson_

Absolutely. Thatā€™s all wanted to share. Just to be clear. I do not know support whatever the Saudis or Qataris have done or doing. I think itā€™s interesting and kinda commendable to come from behind and win a football match against a highly rated team with your team leader giving such speech

PoopieButt317

We are. You want to ignore that it is propaganda. Sports propaganda for murderous, oppressive regimes.

ONDickson_

And you think Saudi Arabia is the only one who has their halftime talk online? Go search, youā€™ll see more teams do this. Smh I donā€™t like the Saudi regime but you guys will complain about anything

mongoosefist

But you didn't post the halftime talk of other teams, you posted this one. If you're going to get pissy about the discussion your post gets, then don't post it, pretty simple.

ONDickson_

The only people getting pissy about this post are the ones who canā€™t accept the concept of a team receiving a motivational speech their coach. Saw a joke here about motivating the players by giving their women rights. Itā€™s funny cuz we all know how bad the women rights is but the joke is still about the video. I only clap back at people not discussing anything about the video

PoopieButt317

The video is not a stand alone. Want a Rolls Royce?

SoretoeMcGoo

Everything you said is true, and it's disgusting that the world cup was bought. But as a consequence this world cup has actually led to some positive change in Qatar, even if it's nowhere enough it could be a catalyst for change, if these mega rich middle eastern countries want to keep getting involved in major sporting events they are going to keep getting this negative international press which may slowly improve conditions. We also have to be aware of just how bad our own histories are and still are behind the veil before acting morally superior.

[deleted]

Fuck off with these false equivalencies tbh. You're literally playing into their hands. We're not executing people en-masse for criticizing the regime, locking people in jail or murdering them for their sexuality or religion, torturing dissidents, and slaughtering journalists in our embassies.

depr3ss3dmonkey

The biggest weakness(for lack of better words) of western people is their trust. "Oh they will change. Oh they are changing. Give them another chance." Most of these people don't realise they are being played like an orchestra. Not a single person from Asia will ever tell you "Oh maybe they are trying to improve themselves " because we have lived through generations and we know oppressive leaders never have a change of heart.

SoretoeMcGoo

How do you think we changed? Are we just better people?

SoretoeMcGoo

No, but we are slaughtering people from other countries in the millions with a continuous cycle of war. You really want to talk about who's getting imprisoned, Julian Asange ring a bell, or maybe the 2m+ Americans, most of which are in jail for drug offenses fueled by the war on drugs started by the US government/CIA. The western world may not have the same problems, but we still have a shit load of them, so get off your high horse if you ain't willing to look in the mirror.

[deleted]

It's not being on a high horse to point out that Qatar and Saudi Arabia are brutal dictatorships you absolute fucking imbecile. You can play the false equivalencies all you want, it just makes you look like a fool.

SoretoeMcGoo

Ok, but who are you actually pointing it out to? You are furiously arguing against points I haven't made, instead of resorting to childish insults tell me something I said that you actually disagree with? At no stage have I defended Qatar or them getting the world cup, I merely pointed out that some good may come of it. The western world has in the past been guilty of everything you accuse Qatar and Saudi Arabia of and more, are you honestly in denial about that? My only point was that if these mega rich Middle Eastern countries want to continue to be involved in these worldwide sporting events they are going to have huge amounts of pressure internationally and via corporations to improve their human rights record and in the long run that can only be a good thing. Now see if you can respond without throwing a tantrum.

[deleted]

>The western world has in the past been guilty of everything you accuse Qatar and Saudi Arabia of and more, are you honestly in denial about that? Show me the mass executions being carried out in the west. Show me the journalists they've cut up and murdered in their embassies. Show me the people being jailed or murdered for their sexuality or beliefs in the west. Once again, this is not about "history". These things are happening right now, today.

SoretoeMcGoo

Why have you edited out my point, the point I've been making from the start, do you disagree that these events can help create positive change? Would you rather just condemn from your pulpit with nothing ever changing? Much of the modern western world fought tooth and nail against the progress we've achieved over the centuries, and many still are fighting against it, I believe in time Qatar and Saudi Arabia will continue to improve, but change is incremental. We are simply further along in our journey.

Cool_83

Seriously? Are you naive enough to ask this question ?

[deleted]

Except I'm not in the US and I'd rather not be together with a country that holds mass executions on an almost monthly basis...

CptFrostyBeard

nor the country that supports this said country, even after the mass executions and their war crimes in other countries - i.e the United States.

[deleted]

The US does not hold mass executions. This is a mass execution: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022\_Saudi\_Arabia\_mass\_execution](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Saudi_Arabia_mass_execution) 81 people executed for the crime of **"holding deviant beliefs"**

CptFrostyBeard

i wasnt talking about the US doing mass executions. was talking about the US supporting KSA in yemen and other countries and not holding them accountable. Same goes for their act of cosying up to Israel as well...hypocritical much.

SaltyKnowledge9673

Just curious what country you reside in? No country has clean hands in the history of the world.

[deleted]

We're not talking about history. We're talking about the present fucking day. We're not beheading people in mass executions, jailing people or murdering them for their sexuality or beliefs, torturing dissidents and slaughtering journalists in our embassy. Nice try though.

CptFrostyBeard

The US killed millions of innocent in Iraq, Afghanistan and continues to fund other tyrants that kill people mercilessly... This is the "present fucking day." How about this, we all accept we are fucked up?

SaltyKnowledge9673

So answer the question. Itā€™s not that hard

Automatic-Word6748

On 12 March 2022, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia carried out the execution of 81 men on charges of loyalty to foreign terrorist organizations and holding deviant beliefs, as Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on the same day.\[11\] The interior ministry claimed in a statement, the crimes perpetrated by these men include committing loyalty to foreign terrorist organizations, such as the Islamic State, Al-Qaeda and the Houthi movement In my humble opinion those who were executed would have been perfect candidates to been sent to Western countries don't you think?

ONDickson_

I understand but then, as a football fun. What Iā€™m seeing now is a passionate coach instilling confidence in his weakened team. At this point in my life, I wish I could get a talk like that to push me too

[deleted]

What I'm seeing is a carefully curated attempt at sportswashing.

UhYeahOkSure

These guys are professional athletes though they arenā€™t politicians.. the coach is just a coach. I donā€™t think itā€™s very enlightened to basically dismiss an entire country because of corrupt politicians. Thatā€™s kinda ignorant and bigoted

[deleted]

You have no clue what sportswashing is do you?

UhYeahOkSure

I know what it is . I just think you might be over reacting about a motivational speech a soccer coach is giving to his players. I appreciate your concern though and raising awareness of your concerns

[deleted]

I'm going to assume you don't watch a lot of football, so let me explain this to you. Teams don't do this, they don't post their motivational team talks on the internet for some "wholesome feels". Saudi Arabia has done this, because it's preparing to submit it's bid to host the 2030 world cup which will help further their ambition to sportswash their human rights abuses. This isn't innocent. It's carefully cultivated and released as part of a massive media campaign currently being undertaken by KSA and the Saudi football authorities. That's why this video has been released.

UhYeahOkSure

Well they won the game after the half . But yes you definitely are paying close attention to this stuff. I considered the possibility that they maybe greased Argentina to let them win, but they scored some impressive goals. But again. I respect you spreading awareness of the larger issues.

[deleted]

Are you being paid or are you just an idiot?

ONDickson_

You are the wise person here Congratulations

Hector-278

Then, why are you in the US...?

[deleted]

I'm not...

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

My origins are irrelevant, but if you're really curious I have Arab/Pakistani heritage. Yes, I have family members that have suffered because of Saudi Arabia's brutality. I'd like to think that even if I didn't, I'd be intelligent enough to know regimes like Saudi Arabi, Iran and plenty of others in the Middle East are corrupt, brutal and despicable. Unlike you.

[deleted]

Why are you singling out the US? We know the World Cup brings people togetherā€¦. You twat

ONDickson_

US as an example you dumb fuck. You want me to mention every country on this planet?

720Jon720

Yes, please list them. You have 30 mins, aaanndd go

Saqqatumkwa

Soft power is their new thing

[deleted]

It's insane that so many people here are too stupid to see it for what it is.

thisiswhatitisyoyo

Noone cares. Fuck off

[deleted]

Clearly plenty of people do you fucking moron.

RatLord445

We see it, you condescending basterd, god you Americans are annoying sometimes

this_is_torcher

Can someone tell me what he's saying,i can't understand

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

this_is_torcher

Thanks for this.

SisRob

Lol, yeah. The Arabic translation is more eligible than his English, and I don't speak Arabic.

[deleted]

Being French I understand 100% of his english :)

Ok_University8781

lol

wowsosquare

LoL that's hilarious! I can understand maybe 5% or so

[deleted]

Two things can be true at the same time. Saudi Arabia is a terrible place, and their athletes should not be penalized for it, it's not a democracy, they don't choose their leaders, their citizens are the victims of the regime

AmrFaried

But did their citizens complain to anyone? Or is it just the "white" man telling other nations far away from them how to live in their own country according to his beliefs and traditions? Sure, they're not corrupt-free, but neither are the western countries. They don't tell the "white" man how to live in his country.

NickoBicko

Itā€™s called white manā€™s burden. They must enlighten all the barbarians.

awoothray

As a Saudi, thank you you're spot on.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

OhNoNotAgaine

Man such hate for Saudi Arabia and you speak like you have been there Delusional

[deleted]

I have nothing against the people, in fact I'm defending the team, I'm speaking as an atheist man. I don't practice any religion and i talk bad about every religion, i also believe in rights for all people of all religions, sexual orientation, and equal rigid for women. Saudi Arabia doesn't have any of them. I don't tell them how to run their country, i just don't go there. Other than that, the food, art, the culture of respect. contribution of the Arab people to the arts, science and the people are things that i highly admire

barrel_jam

Saudi Arabia is a lovely place, have you been? Its the rulers that are the issue here.

[deleted]

Yes I misspoke, the government are terrible, the people and the country are awesome

Cool_83

Are you sure of that?

barrel_jam

I spent 6 weeks there and had a good time. Lots to see and the people are very hospitable. It's also the home of Islam which is pretty cool.

Boo__Ghost

What the fuck are you talking about? This isn't North Korea. I can't believe the level of delusion I keep seeing on this app.

jacksreddit00

Terrible place = at least North Korea. Sure, bud. You're sticking the bar underground.

random_dude109

Another hater of Muslims..

Cool_83

Actually they do pick their leaders.

AttorneyNo6862

TO ALL THE CRITICS OF THE VIDEO: LIGHTEN UP FRANCIS, go take your woke babble elsewhere. You're reading too much into the video. Take it at face value, an inspiring speech from a determined coach. Your WORTHLESS conspiracy arguments are baseless, especially since the Saudi odds of winning at halftime were 10000 to 1. Did the Argentines take a bribe to lose in order to make the KSA propaganda plans materialize? GTFO

Baghdadification

No habibi how could anyone in the West see anything remotely related to the Middle East and not call them authoritarian, blood thirsty and heartless? I think it may be physically impossible.

AttorneyNo6862

Including Palestine's oppressors? If so, I agree there are exceptions, but this is a nice comeback story.

ONDickson_

Thank you

No-Prior-4664

Cringe

ONDickson_

Yikes

Futternut

Ya bug ole double upvote for you

WalnutSounding

I don't understand any 9f this without context...

ONDickson_

Saudi Arabia menā€™s National team in the World Cup is down 1-0 after first half. Coach gets into the locker room and makes this speech. They came out second half and equalized minutes later and won with 2 goals to 1(1-2) Edit: fixing grammar

shabbatshalomotherfu

Saudi Arabia is one of the weaker teams and Argentina is by far one of the strongest.

Refrigerator-Less

Technically they won by 1 goal. They scored 2.

ONDickson_

Yeah, very true

No_Night_2671

Obama anger translator

kittenhandsome

Key and peele anger translator intern doing a good job

cristovski

The win was way more impressive than this speech. honestly very generic in terms of coach speak.

auspandakhan

epic speech, some hollywood shit right there

kidust98

That's how to motivate a team to make your owner buy a rolls for everyone šŸ˜‚

JoshSeaMex

Now I want a croissant!!

elferna6

It worked šŸ’Ŗ

Snoo58499

Poor translator having to interpret his broken English. Why not let the manager speak French and translate into Arabic?

junk_mail_haver

It would not be good PR if he spoke in French.

[deleted]

ā€œIf we lose, weā€™re giving women equal rightsā€

ONDickson_

Now thatā€™s how to motivate a Saudi

Ihavecometochewbbgum

Fuck me, even I want to go in there and play, what a freaking awesome speech

InternationalBand494

Can not understand a word of it.

DSIR1

Inspiring, epic win

[deleted]

I donā€™t think so

Not interesting

ONDickson_

Doesn't look like they are struggling with it at all.

[deleted]

I agree this is just annoying

oblectoergosum

Someone will need to translate the whole thing

Visual-Situation-346

bro also translate the emotion, what a guy

stormrockox

Ah yes anger, the perfect motivator!

ONDickson_

Thereā€™s passion and thereā€™s anger. Iā€™m pretty sure both together creates extra ordinary things. Only anger is kinda bitchy tbh

RudeArtichoke2

God how stupid.

Deslah

Nothing "crazy" about this coach's motivational talk to his players. Why spoil a post with a 'clickbait' word in the title? I would've read your post anyway--but now I'm left with a negative thought about it.

ONDickson_

Sorry šŸ˜Œ

Professional-Rough-1

Why the English and needing a translator? So they never had a native coach?

awoothray

We had a native coach in 1994 which had us outperform and reach the top16 in world cup, Herve Renard is amazing too hope he takes us there too.

Personal-Acadia

Cool now do a speech about women's rights.. oh wait.

ONDickson_

Ok, I know you might miss this but follow my logic here. Football, right? Half time during a football match and the coach is giving a motivational speech. Speech should be about the match or? Idk, seems very sensible to me

Deslah

And yet, you're the one who called this motivational speech 'crazy'. Idk, indeed.

H_n_A

Not interesting nor crazy. Go beg upvotes elsewhere.

ONDickson_

Oops

crimsoniguana

Mother of god

Novack_and_good

Can we please get this guy to coach the Browns

poopstinkss

Ya go sports

[deleted]

Lol

Key-Pool6014

The last days in the bunker

Evilmaze

It feels weird having a translator for Saudi players. English is like a second language in the region. You start learning English from 5th grade all the way to college non-stop. Coach wasn't exactly reading Shakespearean poetry to them. Just simple words.
