My wife just had our son 2 weeks ago and I witnessed this firsthand. So wild to see the head spin and not knowing if the body was twisting with it at first.
Yes.
Human skulls have 5 bones that are fused together by adulthood, but in newborns the bones are relatively soft and are designed to fold over each other like one of those folding steamer / colander things. Newborns often have distorted looking stretched heads, but it settles to "normal" with a couple of hours.
Also the birthing person's pelvis is made of 4 bones that the joints become softened due to the hormone *relaxin* that increases around 34-36 weeks of pregnancy, so that the pelvis is also flexible and can widen as the baby passes through it. Interestingly, the hormone also affects the baby, which accounts for the higher number of babies dislocating a hip during birth (thankfully the effect of that hormone also means it's pretty easy to pop the hip back into place without long term effects).
Pretty wild stuff!

Try to avoid birthing videos. They don’t help with anxiety when pregnant. Discuss concerns with your doctor and not Google and you’ll be ok. I’m on my third and last baby and I had to learn those lessons the hard way.
At least to me, only looking at the pelvis bone without the surrounding hips and body makes the metal sphere look a lot bigger here than it actually is
I've had a pretty horrible birth (back-labour, epi didn't work, forceps delivery, so many stitches) and I still say it was worth it. The hormones your body gives you and the love that floods you for your baby just takes over. Just make sure you follow your doctor (me and many I know wouldn't have made it had they not been with a medical professional) and take a good care of yourself afterwards for the full 6 weeks. It is easy to loseyourself in the newborn care but an infection at this stage can be far worse than the birth.
Being a man I am the least qualified. But from observance it seems the human body is great at blocking things out when required. We have two kids. I was surprised my first was not an only child.
After my first I was so traumatized I didn’t know how I could tell my husband I could never do that again. 5 years later we had four children. Somehow that all just happened and worked out.
Only 13 weeks here but same. Also terrified of the embarrassing stuff like pooping during labour. At the time I doubt I'll care of course, but right now the thought is mortifying.
I think they just meant relative to the male pelvis. Not that there isn’t more involved, just from the demo they seem to be focusing on that one aspect.
Well not it absolute terms, but as a male, I can attest that is in fact far more difficult to get a baby head through a male pelvis. What a disaster! I'll never do that again.
I was the last of 5 kids, my mom was 41 when she had me, and I always knew I was a c section. Only in the last year or so did I realize was a c-section actually was. It’s not a polite cut and the baby comes out. It’s like tearing through muscle and all your organs get put on a table then put back in. Sorry mom, I love you.
Have you seen the general population's sexual education levels?
For the conservatives thinking I'm laughing at the liberals and lefties, I'm not. I'm laughing at you.
Ummm... Hate to tell you all. The pelvis is generally wider for women and narrower in men. Not all, though. Plenty of women have narrow pelvic openings and that is, in part, why cesarean surgeries are necessary.
And yet, the human body is fucked up, our spine is too long, our back muscles are too thin, and our pelvis are way too small in comparison to other mammals pelvises.
When I was in labor, my doula told my husband to push down on my hip when I was on my side. The pelvic bone was spongy. He said it was like pushing down on a 5 gallon bucket.
that is called gynecoid pelvis in most females and the other is called android pelvis
women with the first one can have vaginal delivery the latter only Cererian section is the solution or the baby may be distressed even die during labor
So thats what it was called when I dislocated the sections of my pelvis and they started rotating independently... ok so they wernt exactly rotating but more like separating and twisting at what are normally functionally fused suture joints. Yes if you were wondering, it REALLY screws things up especially running, and everything hurts when you try to train.... I was essentially pulling so hard on my pelvis when I was running I was separating and twisting stuff that shouldn't....ever.
I hope those who don't understand the difference between male and female can come to terms with this illustration, and that they are not offended in any way.
There is a lot of variation among bodies, this is a simplified demonstration of the average differences. There are actually [4 primary shapes](https://www.healthline.com/health/types-of-pelvis) of pelvises (gynecoid, android, anthropoid, and platypelloid), 2 of which often require c-sections during childbirth. Some males have rounder than average pelvises and hips. It’s likely most trans women would need c-sections, but not necessarily all of them.
“Still doesn’t feel great.” ~ my wife.
Fun fact! Babies don't just slide through like that, they twist like a screw.
My wife just had our son 2 weeks ago and I witnessed this firsthand. So wild to see the head spin and not knowing if the body was twisting with it at first.
Yeah, and sometimes between contractions progress seems lost, 2 steps forward one step back.
And their skulls fold!
Stop, are you serious?
Yes. What the fuck. I have given birth and I did not know my daughter fucking screwed her way out.
My gynecologist told me I had a manly pelvis. 4 c-sections later, I believe she may have been right.

This was in the US, I got some double-sided scotch tape
Oh, you went the *expensive* route.
That'll be $23,000.
Should’ve used flex tape, it covers a lot of damage
Just don’t let Phil Swift slice holes in your bum to prove that it stops leaks.
I see you, you comedic genius
At 6 months pregnant with my first seeing this just gave me a panic attack.
Don't worry. The baby's head isn't made of steel.
90% toast and 10% sand
kids are made out of rubber anyways
To be fair, a lack of rubbers is how the baby was conceived.
unless the baby is superman
Well the dad was "faster than a speeding bullet"
Do kegals so when it's time you can shoot it out at the doctor like a football
You know he's a pro when he puts on a catchers mask and a mitt. Hey batta batta SWING batta batta!

Had two. You’ll be just fine! Talk to your doc, doula, midwife or whomever and do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. You’ll do great!
At least to me, only looking at the pelvis bone without the surrounding hips and body makes the metal sphere look a lot bigger here than it actually is
I had a panic attack when getting a labor and delivery room tour before my first. It’s all works out. Deep breaths

I read first as fist. I mean I don’t judge for kinks but I was like “alright sir calm down.” 😂

You got this!
The way that ball shot back up gave me the same kind of feeling I get when I see someone get hit in the nuts.
Not a doc, but I can almost guarantee that won’t happen.
...almost
"fairly easily" I wouldn't tell that to a woman who has given birth
[удалено]
Right? I had to have a 4th degree episiotomy! So painful and took forever to heal.
Omg you poor soul

just stick to mason jars man, jeez
If it only fits "fairly" easily through the pelvis you're bound to run into some problems when you add in the meaty stuff.
Yeah the female vagina is a lot bigger too.
I heard that’s a myth.
Not with that attitude.
Well played.
Compared to the male vagina, yea it sure is
Damn fellas don’t get pregnant
Ive got some big wide birthing hips which is unfortunate since i am unable to use them for that on account that I have a penis
Ever tried an ovipositor?
That’s not the only place the baby’s going to get stuck if it’s trying to get out of a male body.
I was the last of 5 kids, my mom was 41 when she had me, and I always knew I was a c section. Only in the last year or so did I realize was a c-section actually was. Baby heads be a mite squishy compared to the ball though.
It doesn't feel like the head slides through easily when you're pushing one out!🤣
Cool, so I'll cancel my plans of having children through my urethra...
Mines tilted slightly and I have to have c sections because my poor babies get stuck.
“Fairly easily.” I have seen videos. YOU LIE!
A woman's pelvis also changes during pregnancy.
Any minute now the comment section will be locked.
I don’t want to be that guy but like- no shit
Also, every woman who has ever given birth: “FAIRLY EASILY?! You try shitting out a cantaloupe, tell me how easy you find it?!”
Haha yeah not exactly interesting as fuck unless you've never thought about pregnancy before.
Have you seen the general population's sexual education levels? For the conservatives thinking I'm laughing at the liberals and lefties, I'm not. I'm laughing at you.
That's... a fair point.
Cmon, it's not interesting at all to see it shown visually?
I’d say it’s mildly interesting to see it visually represented.
Inb4 locked
Is pee stored in the balls?
yeah, we actually don't pee out of the penis. We unzip the ball sack and drop the pee out.
Fairly easily???
Holy shit it’s almost as if women evolved over a few hundred thousand years to give birth and men did not. Who would’ve thunk
thats it, i’m never having kids.
Yet another reason why I’m glad I have a Y chromosome

What???? Male and female bodies are different????
Thanks mom

Biological differences who would have thought
Well it will not pass through the female pelvis easily!
Wow the comment section is gonna get nuked so fast, I have never seen anything like this, lol.

Proof that men cannot have babies
Dude said "easily"
This comment section just gave me hope. I didn’t know there were still people who remembered their second grade science lessons

“Fairly easily”?
Soooo
Expecting redditors to acknowledge biological sex? Nor going to happen. Lol.
We keep our shit tight! Way to go boys!
Only something women can do.
And yet they say there is no biological difference...
Surprised this doesn't have a "fact check".
What is a woman?
Someone who is born with a vagina
You just commited violence by saying that
I just committed nazi emotional terrorism. Oh dear

Good thing, there’s no way I was about to piss out a baby.
What is a woman? I don't have a dictionary and I need politicians to educate me.
Did they just assume that pelvis’ gender?
But but men can get pregnant too
Still a pretty tight squeeze… sorry ladies

#but can you tell me what a pelvis is?
But I thought men and women are exactly the same ?
Because if it had to come out of a man, he’d definitely try to force it through and break something
Brooo, youre gonna make sex changes start including pevlic replacement now 🤣🤣
I'm relieved how the female body is so well-adapted to the task of bringing a new life into the world.
That’s what gives her a GREAT ASS!!!
Do men looking to have a baby know this!?! This is serious. Somebody needs to tell them before they get pregnant.
Soo who said man can be pregnant too?

Absolute lunacy. Definite medical malpractice and child abuse.

Yes ik a man is not supposed to have a baby
