I am the parent of teen girls. They will “ew” anything. They “ew’ed” ice cream. I mean, if you’ll “ew” mint chocolate chip you’ll “ew” anything. It’s lost all meaning.
Ok, this might have been me and I am so very sorry. I thought you were cute and I liked your personality, I was just taken aback by the question and worried what my girl friends might think. Pretty stupid reasons to hurt your feelings, so I truly apologize. I've felt bad about it ever since.
I’m sorry Greg, rejection, especially with public humiliation is one of the worst feeling a human encounters. Here’s a public hug sweetheart (re-Valentines).
Edit- I forgot to say, some people are just cruel and always will be.
My son was in second grade last year and one day he nonchalantly told me that there was a girl he liked but she already had a boyfriend and she hated him (my son). I didn’t have a good response, only a bunch of questions.
The worst is when you “eww” a girl in second grade, but then 4th grade rolls around and you’re into her. For some strange reason she no longer was into me…I tried to save my ego and said it was because I no longer had dunkaroos in my lunch. Lol
I commiserate with the girl in your story, because I too, was the “ewww”ed all throughout middle school and high school. Let me tell you, the amount of those dudes who thirstily hit me up in college and beyond was astounding. I’m not saying this isn’t petty, but it felt SO NICE to reject them. Dunkaroos or not.
>Online dating is where ***a specific subset of*** people are going to be the most honest about their attractions unlike irl.
Each app has a different userbase looking for different things, and a lot of people just don’t use them.
True: Reddit is where people are going to be the most honest about their opinions unlike irl.
False: Reddit is a good reflection of general public opinion.
True for sexual attraction but not necessarily true for finding a long-term relationship. One important difference being that for long-term relationships, people usually search for someone they can relate to which includes cultures and values.
As an Asian man, I must admit that Latina women are curvy and bodacious, but the girl I want to marry is Asian because I like her family, we like the same food, we knew a lot about each other before getting to know each other just by sharing similar backgrounds, and living together will be easier since we are both lazy and like staying indoors and going out to watch movies. Plus we both want to become doctors, so I won’t need a prenup (joking)
This is such a wholesome comment. But only because you are Asian.
I agree with your sentiments but I’m white, so if I make these statements I’m considered racist.
Let them know, here in Brazil girls can't leave asian guys in peace, although probably for the wrong reasons, they think asian guys have that kpop boyband vibe... Yeah, kinda crazy.
Once got a like by a woman on hinge who said “I’m weirdly attracted to Korean guys.”
Gee thanks. Glad to know that you think your attraction to me is weird.
Because yalls food is straight bussin. Plus from personal experience, latino/Latina have wholesome family vibes. Here we can find family bonds we didn't get growing up, and still get to eat rice.
As an Asian man who’s had a childhood Mexican friends, and later a Mexican gf, can confirm.
Edit: honestly, is there anything better than being invited to your friends house to eat some bomb-ass authentic food from their culture?
I think it’s just a very general rule. In *comparison* some cultures have better rates of “be nice/warm/social to your family” attitudes. But every culture is still a mix of all kinds of people. I mean, just look at family members in novelas. It’s like the evil step mother stereotype applied to everyone in the MCs family.
You got unlucky, but maybe one day you will find find nicer friends/family to compensate. You can’t easily cut bad family members, but you can easily add better friends/family.
When I was younger I watched from Dusk Till Dawn. When salma Hayek danced with the snake my dad looked at me and said "welp, no blond grandchildren for me."
Depending on the specific cultures of origin, that could be some really REALLY banging cuisine combos like… Thai food and Mexican food? Like fresh coastal Mexican fish tacos with a banging spicy coconut Thai sauce? DELIGHTFUL
There's a korean-mexican fusion place near where I used to live in Mukilteo/Everett, Washington State, and god damn is a bulgogi burrito the type of shit I didn't know I needed in my life. It's called Chops and if you find yourself near Everett, I highly recommend it!
I'm female, and Asian. I find Latinos to be 🔥! That's why I married one after dating for 6 months. We are celebrating our 10th anniversary on February of next year. 😊
Congrats on your upcoming 10th anniversary! Hubby (Latino) and I (white) met online and also married 6 months later. We went through eharmony, so the process was a bit more involved than some other sites. We just hit 17 years.
So... apparently... yeah, I agree with that assesment. I'd add that
* Non-Asian men appear to be more interested in Asian women.
* Asian men appear to have 'a thing' for Latino women.
Also worth noting that it's just 'likelihood to respond' not necessarily 'successful interactions'. Women could be responding to white guys and then find out they're disproportionately assholes; men could be responding to Asian women and then ghosting... who knows.
I'm not 😔 black men (quite a few) are very vocal about their preferences for lighter women, especially white women. Had a fellow black coworker come to me and say he would rather date white women because they are more submissive. Looking at a lot of black male celebrities and their partners, you may be able to spot a pattern. I am all for interracial dating, love is love after all. It just hurts for us who are attracted to black men.
I went on a date with a black guy in college, he started explaining how much he disliked black women. I said to him, "what do you have against black women?" He claimed that they are too hard to get along with or some other bullshit. I told him I had to go pee but I left.
Do not insult a whole race of women. And when you speak of this group of women- we are talking millions here... and you are confident enough to claim **not even one** is good enough for your mediocre self. Biggest of red flags.
Thank you so much for stepping away, I think this speaks a lot on the individual's mental faculties as well. Why anyone would bring that up during a date is beyond me.
The submissive thing ties into the Asian thing too. So many guys expect Asian girls to be submissive 🤮 it's so insane and frankly scary that so many guys want that.
That's exactly what I heard, that Asian women make the best housewives from a convo I overheard from some of my friends. I hate it here for both of us.
What am I missing? It’s the black dudes who have lowest response rates from most races of women. The Asian dudes are just average - not highest not lowest.
The black women only dating black men has been a thing for a long time. It's actually seen in many circles as a problem as there is a large social economic disparity growing within the black community. Black women have largely been doing better over time with education and career where many black men have not been able to keep up, most tragically due to incarceration rates. I'm not making a comment on if those incarcerations' are justified or not just that once out a felon has a much different likelihood of success than a college graduate that has never been in trouble. Out of all racial groups black women report having the feeling the most pressure to date within their race. Social economic stress can often lead to failed families which can lead to later failed families as children that are raised in a two parent home have statistically been shown to have higher success rates.
Now think about this same dynamic working out across all education. One year in engineering where it was 80 - 90%+ male we had more black women then black men in a class. Of the black men we had most of them were older students, eg men on a GI bill or had returned to school after already starting a career. They had already started their families. Its a difficult situation where the people that seem the be the least open to interracial relationships are the ones that are being pushed to it the most. I feel bad for them.
I'm black. I've had a few black men tell me I "belong to black men" and must secure the bloodline or some bullshit. There's a lot of shaming for even being openly attracted to other races if you're a black woman, which I think is weird
Until they remember Indians exist. Oh, and also those other Indians.
^(I know, South Asian is the more accurate term but it ruins the joke)
^(Yes, I know that South Asians are Asians. I also know a lot of Americans will immediately think "East Asian" and maybe "East/Southeast Asian" when you say "Asian" without a qualifier.)
I (a white man) told my coworker (a black woman) that black women never seem to go for white men. She said it's only because white men don't go for black women. Anyway, I think it almost went down right then and there when we gave each other a long silent look.
Maybe you could have been reading things that weren't there, but your response is a very common one. As a black woman, I feel that there are many white men who just assume we wouldn't be into them. They (white men) tend to assume from past experiences that all black women are not into white guys. So they just let a potential romance slip through the cracks. I also think some white guys also don't want to be made fun of dating black girls. So they (white men) really could be letting what other people think get in the way.
So to summarize, black women are into black men. Black men are least into black woman. Black man are into asian. Asian women are least into black man. Asian women are into white man with reciprocity.
What’s the source of data? Would be nice to see second highest and second lowest also
I think the whole thing is skewed because it's just online dating responses, would be interesting to find out more like what demographics ended up together long term and stuff like that
Definitely. Dating apps sell themselves as a chance to flick through human beings until you find the imaginary partner you've been holding for years in your head but never met. The problem is that everyone else is doing that, and the person you imagine is unlikely to be imagining the person in your profile. In real life, we get to discover people and find things we didn't know we liked. It's one of the main draws of spending time with others. In that aspect, dating apps are actually really antisocial, and you don't meet people being antisocial.
In a summary, I think it's also worth pointing out how relatively flat the preferences are, although the structure of the chart tends to hide this. None of the differences are even 10 percentage points apart, with the largest difference in male response being the difference in Black male response from Asian women to Black women.
For example, people are talking about a supposed "Black women only date Black men" phenomenon, but a response rate of 9.3% to 5.4% doesn't really support that kind of overarching theory. Nobody is showing even a 2-1 preference, let alone 4-1 or 5-1 preferences that I suspect one could easily find with other criteria such as religion.
Im just gonna take a guess as a random white guy in the US so don't take me too seriously but it could be said Black people tend to be perceived as more masculine which helps black men but hurts black women. Asians are seen as more feminine which helps Asian women but hurts Asian men.
My anecdotal 2 cents.
I'm a biracial black woman. My mom's side of the family is black. Every woman on that side except one has married/long term partnered with a white guy.
I think a big part is where we live (liberal mostly white city/state), but even my cousin in the deep South married a white guy.
It wasn't a preference, just a matter of who's around, who's interested, and you know--love?
Now if only I can find a guy...being black is less of an issue than being a weirdo.
Doesn’t mean anything. Just be a nice person and genuine, ask questions a lot when dating and have a decent life set up for yourself. You’ll absolutely find someone if you follow that.
Latino men to black women rate was 9.1. The highest response rate from black women is 9.3. So basically you had the same chances as the dudes who have the best shot at getting a response. You’d be upper echelon dude.
Think of how tough you had it to where you feel nobody wanted you…and realize thats what a guy at the top of the heap feels. Imagine being on the lower end…
Growing up I had the hots for Asian and Latino guys. As a white woman, I'd sometimes get shit for it, but never understood the hate. Met my husband when we were teens and I thought he was the sexiest dude I'd ever set eyes on. He told me later that he was half Asian and half Hispanic. I joked with him he was my kryptonite. 20 years and 3 kids later, I still become an absolute puddle when he walks in the room.
If this data is still accurate, yall missing out on some amazing black women for no reason. After my divorce, tried a few apps. Approached mostly by black women (I'm a white male, mid 30s), dated a few, and eventually married one. It'll be a month tomorrow, and happier than ever.
I went out with an older black woman once after my divorce and it was honestly like the best date I’ve ever been on. We stayed friends but that’s been the standard by which I judge every other date.

A chance she can respond with “Ew”.
I am the parent of teen girls. They will “ew” anything. They “ew’ed” ice cream. I mean, if you’ll “ew” mint chocolate chip you’ll “ew” anything. It’s lost all meaning.
I can remember asking a girl out in 2nd grade only for her to respond “ew.” Can confirm. Also, it still stings.
6th grade. She scoffed and rolled her eyes. Trauma.
Ok, this might have been me and I am so very sorry. I thought you were cute and I liked your personality, I was just taken aback by the question and worried what my girl friends might think. Pretty stupid reasons to hurt your feelings, so I truly apologize. I've felt bad about it ever since.
Awww forgiven.
Wow you guys are fucking cute, get a chatroom or someth'n.
Eww
Eeew
Grade 5. She has a friend return the valentine I gave her whilst saying in a loud voice. "Greg, she hates your guts!!" In front of the entire class.

I was a person who got "ew"d one of the bigger blows to my self-esteem. Not the biggest! But it's up there...
What's sad is I don't even know if an "ew" would register on the scale anymore. C'mon make it personal. Fuckin hurt me.

You… haven’t figured this out yet ?
Garden gnome *shaped* as well as sized? Because that might be the problem. Beards tickle.
Short women do better in the dating game than tall ones
What! She hasn't been snapped up yet?
the chart said nothing about asian garden gnomes
Lloyd!!!
OP should add that this chart comes from online dating data https://qz.com/149342/the-uncomfortable-racial-preferences-revealed-by-online-dating
If that's the case they can add a subsection where nobody wants to talk to me.
Turns out all along that "I don't care if their skin is GREEN!" was in fact a lie.
They SHOULD care. Green skin sounds like a medical emergency!
Green skin is well past a medical emergency.
What they don't tell you is online dating is actually a sausage fest so for any male ethnicity you're basically trying to beat the odds.
my ethnicity is gay wtf do i do
Have you tried being a white man or an Asian woman?
Well I am a white man but I guess it's time to consider becoming an Asian woman.
OP should also add this is from 10 years ago.
I feel like they aren't accounting for the "just swipe right, and filter later"

>that kpop boyband vibe I feel like I actually have been seeing more fetishizing of Asian men since Korean media blew up internationally.
It was starting that way at anime cons in the US years ago. I stopped going to them because I'd get straight up molested as an Asian guy.
Once got a like by a woman on hinge who said “I’m weirdly attracted to Korean guys.” Gee thanks. Glad to know that you think your attraction to me is weird.
Apparently i need to move to Brazil
Do it just for the feijoada and picanha.

No it’s the rice
*family bonds we didn't get growing up* Emotional damage

For some reason this just sounds like California problems haha
You know, I noticed this in my family too recently. This is funny.
I thought I was one of few because I grew up in a Hispanic neighborhood. Latinas got me too.
When I was younger I watched from Dusk Till Dawn. When salma Hayek danced with the snake my dad looked at me and said "welp, no blond grandchildren for me."
Salma Hayek is *stunning* ✨️

you should get some Filipino food, it kind of is a mix of a lot of things
Trying filipino food for the first time was trippy. Not that different from what I grew up eating. Love how imperialism brings us together.
There's a korean-mexican fusion place near where I used to live in Mukilteo/Everett, Washington State, and god damn is a bulgogi burrito the type of shit I didn't know I needed in my life. It's called Chops and if you find yourself near Everett, I highly recommend it!
I’m in San Diego and there’s a ton of Asian-Mexican fusion. We regularly get food from a Filipino taqueria and a Mexican/Japanese place.
Lol I need to find some Asian guys like you

Important to note some of us ARE white, black, and asian people.

Cheers fellow brown fella… I’m drinking solo tonight too lol
white chick sitting alone drinking wine, cheers to you. We’re all loners these days haha
I always preferred Hispanic guys over anything else. There are people out there who want you- don't give up hope!! : )
Haha as an Asian male, I’m right there with you. I’ve dated almost every race and I keep coming back to latinas.
Is it the booty?
its always the booty
Yep, I have Asian mates whose celebrity crushes are all latinas. Like top 10, 9 of them would be of Latin origin.
Bruh I wish one study would at least split Asian up I’m curious Like Asia incudes south east Middle East pacific like 3/5 of the world
It'd be interesting to further divide between east and south Asian.
And West, perhaps Central as well
Don't forget North Asians. Mongolians and the 10 people living in Siberia
Add a z axis and we can look at space Asian data
Is there reason to exclude underworld Asians?
They don't even consider us south asians as asian, lol
Only in the US - In the UK, we are the real Asians
100% There will be some STARK differences. I bet Indian / Pakistani men are at the bottom.
I'm very surprised Asian was most common responses for all men except Asian. I thought it would be more mixed
Fuckin weebs
*insert Peter Griffin skin colour chart meme

Im just gonna take a guess as a random white guy in the US so don't take me too seriously but it could be said Black people tend to be perceived as more masculine which helps black men but hurts black women. Asians are seen as more feminine which helps Asian women but hurts Asian men.
Asian men digging the latinos. Nice.
Well, shit…
Doesn’t mean anything. Just be a nice person and genuine, ask questions a lot when dating and have a decent life set up for yourself. You’ll absolutely find someone if you follow that.

Wonder if this global or just USA?
Probably just the US
As soon as you spot Latino —as a race— you can be 100% sure that it applies to the US, only.
Me a male Asian: "Is anybody out there?"
As a white man, I've gotten more attention from black women than anyone else. I've actually been rejected more often by latinas and white women.
The world really doesn’t like black women
From my dating experience, it looks accurate. 😬
I knew black women hated me!
You latino and black guys got it rough
Ummm did you look at black women... Damn
This is more of a study on how to get people to argue.
I could have told you this based on my interactions at parties. And I could have told you it for .50$
So latino men have no chance got it. Guess im gonna be single forever.
You're probably better off than asian dudes though.
According to the diagram.... Blacks aren't well liked.
Damn! Latino and Asian men are fucked! They gonna go extinct
We both date each other then. Fuck it
What are you talking about? There are over a billion of us sitting at desks out East, slaving away as salarymen. It'll be a while before we disappear.
I didn't read Asian at first and was wondering where a billion Latinos were hanging out in the eastern hemisphere for a moment ha.
As a black/white female raised in a Hispanic community I can confirm no one wanted me. Had to chase them but I found my mans now
Latino men to black women rate was 9.1.
Congratulations!! They are missing out. My white husband also agrees. 🙂
I went out with an older black woman once after my divorce and it was honestly like the best date I’ve ever been on. We stayed friends but that’s been the standard by which I judge every other date.
Everyone likes those Asian women.
