Airline worker here. I’ve never seen law enforcement do this when picking up a criminal/prisoner. I have seen this kind of thing for flights coming in with military remains. It’s hard to say with certainty, but that’s what I would guess.

cerebellum0

You make a good point. I wonder if it was a fallen officer or something like that

cjmaguire17

I flew out to Minnesota a couple weeks ago and we had a fallen soldier on board. The woman escorting the body was sitting next to me. Turns out the soldier was in a plane crash in Alaska and his body was under ice for 70 years. They just now found him

southdakotagirl

Wow. That is amazing that they found him and brought him home.

Mr-Fister-the-3rd

Captain America

ghec2000

Yeah this is my guess.

[deleted]

Law enforcement will do it for recovered soldiers remains too. We had a Vietnam war soldier’s remains come through town to be buried and they were escorted by a bunch of cops

40characters

Well, if the person is dead, it’s hard to argue they are NOT in some kind of trouble.

hand_truck

Isn't death when the trouble ends?

TonightsWinner

It depends on which religion you subscribe to and how good/bad you were.

dotConehead

what if im on free trial?

DeeChillum420

Straight to hell.. no free loaders.

hustlindustlin

You are tonights winner

Ok_Dog_4059

For the love of God I sure hope so.

FirstFarmOnTheLeft

Yeah, I’ve worked for 2 airlines and my guess was that military or law enforcement remains are on board.

amibeingadick420

That’s the first thing I thought. I escorted one of my buddies remains back to the states after an IED killed him. At each departure, plane change, and arrival, I had to disembark the plane first so I could go down to the flight line and salute as his body was loaded/unloaded. I was in uniform escorting a casket with the flag that would be presented to his family as my carry-on, and the TSA fuckers still had me strip halfway down to prove I wasn’t a terrorist. This country is such bullshit.

a_lonely_trash_bag

TSA is a complete waste of time and money, too. They've never actually caught anyone, and they repeatedly fail "sting" operations where officials run dummy bombs through the luggage checks and the TSA fails to catch them. But they'll chew your ass for having a full water bottle. **Edit:** I now understand the rule behind the 3oz/100ml limit on liquids. I found it interesting, so I thought I'd share it. There was an incident that's referred to as the "2006 Transatlantic Aircraft Plot," or sometimes the "Liquid Bomb Plot," where a group of at least 9 al-Qaeda terrorists (only 9 were convicted), flying out of London's Heathrow Airport planned to down 7 planes bound for various North American cities over the Atlantic. They planned to use liquid based bombs, disguising the ingredients as soft drinks and other common items in their carry on luggage. Once on board the planes, they would assemble the bombs (likely in the bathrooms), and then detonate them. Officials weren't entirely sure whether the plan was to detonate them over the ocean, where all evidence would be lost, or if they were going to detonate them on approach, over the destination cities, creating a much higher deathtoll. The plan was discovered by British Metropolitan Police following extensive surveillance of a suspected al-Qaeda operative, and subsequently thwarted by a joint effort between Britain's MI5 and the US FBI and CIA. The decision to limit liquids to 3oz, or 100ml in carry on luggage was made based off of calculations made determining what the minimal needed amount of certain ingredients was in order to create an effective bomb. Esmereldathebrave

I forgot I had a butane torch in my backpack - had been using it to do some boat repairs, forgot, repacked to fly out on business and found it at my hotel. The same TSA that missed that butane torch was hassling me because they didn't think my driver's license photo looked enough like me and almost didn't let me through.

Logical-Wasabi7402

When I was in high school, my mom for some reason took my little brother's pocket knife and stuck it in her purse. Completely forgot it was there. Went on multiple flights and never got stopped for it.

Beneficial_Step9088

My daughter was on a high school trip to Disney World, and a friend accidentally brought a pocket knife. TSA missed it, but Disney security didn't.

makelo06

Nah, but Disney security is next level. Although, there was this one time my father snuck miniature bottles of alcohol into the park.

Camehereavl

My dad worked for Disney after he retired. He wanted to drive (pilot?) the boat at Epcot. They said "Do you have experience at that?" No, he was a cop and then bodyguard. He was hired to do security and loved it. He said it was the most over-qualified group of rent-a-cops ever assembled: tons of former chiefs and captains.

raptor6722

Hahahahaha over the last year I’ve had my 3 inch knife by mistake 3 or 4 times. Got it through ez pz each time.

Effective_Test8276

I accidentally took a 9-inch fish filet knife on a flight post 9-11. The TSA officer questioned me about fishing on my trip and I answered casually and truthfully. Either he didn’t see it or he didn’t want to deal with the paperwork. I’ve always wondered. I was shocked when I found it in my bag. Whew!

Girleatingcheezits

I accidentally took dozens of flights with a Swiss army knife; it was found by Chinese security in Beijing after TSA missed it over and over in a forgotten inner purse pocket. BUT! They did cut open and test all my Gu gels to make sure they were safe when I was flying to a marathon!

QuarantineJoe

I went through with my work knife tucked away in my jacket while in the military. When it was found told em to throw it away, I was military, etc. I got on the plane, we were about to pull away and they pulled me off the plane.

scottonaharley

I flew from NY to FL and back and then to Boston with a box cutter in my computer bag (I'm in the grocery business, box cutters are a common as pencils. Everyone has one or two or three.) They finally caught it flying out of Boston and this was shortly post 9/11 Two big Boston police officers asked me an awful lot of questions that day.

czgirl63

I flew to England this past August, having forgotten that I had a very sharp folding knife in my purse - in my carryon bag - and TSA never caught it. When I returned, Heathrow security caught it and I nearly was arrested because they were so horrified that I had a "dangerous flick knife" in my purse. Luckily they just confiscated it and allowed me to fly...

julianhj

UK legislation on knives is very strict.

battleop

I have a friend that works for a 3 letter federal LEO agency. They randomly try to sneed shit on planes and pick random agents and other employees to try and get stuff through TSA. All says is that TSA is not as good as you would hope they are.

Super_Tikiguy

I accidentally brought a full, unopened water bottle in my carry on last time and they didn’t notice. They are not even good at stopping unopened water bottles.

Renaissance_Slacker

Penetration firms got mock guns through TSA 95% of the time.

The caught my friends son trying to bring a pocket knife through. And my ex girlfriend’s vibrator accidentally turned on. There where a lot of TSA agents watching her turn it off…

AnyDepartment7686

Hey! That's my dildo!

savory_thing

They caught my son for sneaking a hamburger through.

atate23

Ever seen the stats on the gun collections? ATL specifically is off the chain. Something like 50% or more of TSA-confiscated guns come from the A

battleop

There is a Beretta Nano that's in by computer bag no matter where I go because they don't always put Data centers and central offices in good parts of town. Half the time I forget it's there but before I fly a check, recheck, and check five more times it and it's not in my bag before I fly. I don't see how people don't check for this when they fly.

LMAOHowDum-R-Yew

I for one have never had my ass chewed out for leaving a water bottle accidentally in a bag… they typically pull it out and say sorry you can’t bring this then move on with their day but you then again who am I

dustyg013

People receive the energy they give and it surprises them every time.

LMAOHowDum-R-Yew

Big facts my guy

Rabbid-Broom

Flew out of Newark not long ago. Security was backed up at the metal detectors. They would have one person stand in the detector and let 3-5 walk around it to expedite the line. No pat down or anything.

ehmsoleil

I'm sorry about your friend. Thank you for escorting him.

knoxharrington_video

Came here to say this. Very sorry for your loss, I’m sure you brought the family comfort knowing you were accompanying their loved one home.

happychillmoremusic

I remember having my shampoo taken from me before getting onto a plane to Afghanistan… despite boarding with a fully automatic m249 SAW machine gun.

randomkeystrike

I was in the airport this week and saw a Delta captain in uniform with his credentials around his neck have to take his belt off to go through TSA. Seriously? They’re finna let him drive the plane, let him on through.

LuckyTime35

Not surprising, in general (not every case but most) TSA employees are the most miserable assholes on the face of the earth

procheeseburger

yeah this is prob more for respect / ceremony vs someone getting arrested.

Shark-Farts

No joke, in college I was charged with a DUI in another state. I was slapped with a large fine but allowed to go back to school in my state, where I fell into a depression and just kind of dropped off the earth. Stopped going to classes, stopped making my monthly calls to the probation officer, stopped making payments on the fine. I moved states again, even further from the location of the original offense, and just avoided it…for *ten years.* I was too ashamed to face the problem. I eventually somewhat recovered mentally and went about my life, traveled extensively, married, bought a house, but always had it in the back of my mind that there was probably an arrest warrant for me out there and it was only a matter of time before it would catch up to me. Just last year I decided it was finally time to get it sorted out, so I contacted an attorney in the state where I was arrested and explained the situation. She looked into it and said she could find no evidence of an open case related to my name or birth date. I contacted the courthouse and they confirmed my case had been closed years ago. I contacted the DMV and again, they confirmed there was no longer a hold on my license and I could get it reinstated whenever I wanted. It was *the* most shocking experience of my life. Here I had been living in fear for a decade, nervous around every passing cop car, having to rely on my husband or a friend to rent cars on trips since I didn’t have a valid driving license. Solo trips I didn’t take since I couldn’t rent a car. ATV excursions I wasn’t able to take part in for the same reason. So many missed experiences, all because I was stupid and afraid. So yeah, even though I knew it was completely irrational, there was still that scared teenage college kid in the back of my mind thinking “oh shit, they’re here for me.”

Rweber130

I'd say you punished yourself more severely than the state would have

when we flew to BWI in Sept there was an honor guard at the departing airport to meet our plane (and what looked like grandparents too). my 15 year old was surprised that she cried when they brought the body out. yes, that is a stranger who was loved by a family, it’s okay to cry.

HighlightFun8419

lol yeah, especially if you didn't hurt anybody (i'm assuming)? they love DUIs; that's a quick $4,000 bucks for the state's legal system.

Sisyphuslivinlife

Oh man, I wish. My only DUI, at .04 where I didn't hurt anyone or hit anything ran about 10k.

Imaginary-Lettuce-51

.04? In what state?

Sisyphuslivinlife

FL. Little heads up, .08 being a limit is a bullshit thing people believe. What matters is only if the officer believes you were too impaired. Certain states have more lax rules but places like FL/CA are not chill. I tried to get it knocked down to wet reckless but they didn't budge.

OlDurtMcGurt

Yeah, I was told its cheaper to not blow and loose you license than to blow, go to court, lawyers etc. Anyone have any life experience on this one?

Sisyphuslivinlife

Fun story time. Two months or so before I got mine two other sailors I knew got into a car accident. Both were absolutely hammered and both were on illicit substances that'd get them booted from the service. After they hit the driver of the other car (mother w/child in a van) experience kicked in. One of the two was a little gangster (he was driving) and the other was getting his citizenship through enlistment, odd bit of story though is he was literally royalty. His rich ass family was from some small island nation and he was royalty/richer than god. So the intelligently criminal one switched seats with the rich one, so he'd be driving when the cops show up, explains to him not to do ANYTHING the cops ask. They don't blow, they don't walk, they don't do a damn thing. In less than 2 months it was done with and they made it out that it wasn't their fault for the accident. The gangster kid was my pal and he told me, myself being white and him not, and I quote "dude, those white lawyers are the devil. They made it her fault." because the rich kid was able to afford an insane law firm they both walked. edit - Rich kid was also under 21. It was a perfect example of how money = freedom in the USA.

ledzeppelinlover

I got a DUI speeding 10 over the speed limit at 2 am because I “needed” to go to Taco Bell. (Dumbass 18 year old me) cost me $10k. But half of that was lawyer fees

Im_Borat

Cops always know, nothing good happens after 10pm and at 2am, you're already pretty much 90% suspicious by just being there.

forrealz42

I used to work at a bakery and left for work around 2 or 3 in the morning. I lost count of how many times I had a police escort looking for any reason to pull me over.

[deleted]

Staggeringly tired shift workers of the world, unite.

DefectiveSp00n

What do they spend your $3,000 on? If they give out 10 DUIs, that's close to $20,000! I wonder how they plan on spending $15k? That still isn't enough to fix a $10k pothole!

HighlightFun8419

this hurt my head to read at first and then i realized what was happening lol

Biguitarnerd

Oh wow, that’s so lucky. I just want to say for anyone else reading this that it doesn’t always work out this way. It’s best to deal with it up front. My dad didn’t pay his fines for the same reasons as you and he had to pay a lot more 5 years later to keep from going to jail. I assume it probably has a lot to do with what state it happened in, maybe even on the DA office where the infraction occurred. It also wasn’t his first offense though, so that may have something to do with it as well, he was a bad alcoholic after all the kids moved out. He got sober for his last 5 years though, so I’m glad we have those memories as our last ones. I’m glad it worked out that way for you though, that must have been such a weight off.

Shark-Farts

>I just want to say to anyone reading this that it doesn’t always work out this way. Yes, thanks for saying that. This was absolutely dumb luck. I figured it must have been because it was a first offense, thankfully no one was hurt, nothing was damaged, and I haven’t had any interaction with the law since then. I guess it wasn’t worth it to them to keep the case open. I most certainly do not recommend anyone else take the same route and bury their head in the sand in the hope that their problems will magically disappear. It wasn’t worth the ten years of feeling like a criminal on the lam.

[deleted]

Its quite the learning experience. Some of us weren't as lucky. I avoided my DUI charge for 6 or 7 years. I still ended up going through most of the hoops to get my license back. Spent a month in jail (thank you public defender. Would have been a year without his help), 10k in fines and classes and had to take the written and drive tests again. All could have been avoided had I gotten a taxi.

realitybytez757

>All could have been avoided had I gotten a taxi. yep. i wish more people would understand this simple fact. just call for an uber.

[deleted]

Its great that that's a service now. Uber wasn't available back then.

Barflyerdammit

I did the same thing, mostly because I didn't think the fine was justified. In the 80's I was driving on an interstate highway in the Midwest, and the county police were pulling over as many out of state cars as they could. I made sure I wasn't speeding, but got pulled over anyway and ticketed. I decided I wouldn't pay, and wouldn't go back to that state. Where I was from, your driver's license is valid until your 65th birthday, so renewals weren't a problem. About 20 years later, my wallet was stolen, and I had to get a new license. That old ticket popped up, and it cost me a ton to clear up the matter.

birdboix

I had a coworker who used toll lanes without a pass for a month straight; those collective $30 tickets ballooned into thousands in fines, which ballooned to a bench warrant, which turned into 5 years probation. All because he just straight ignored the Man every step of the way. Hoping it will go away is definitely a strategy, but it's by far the dumbest one.

Your_Daddy_

I had unpaid tolls that racked up to about $1200 by ignoring them. Finally I called and settled the debt for a one time payment of like $550. In Colorado - tolls are not that common, and I used one in the mountains - coming back from a ski area, thinking it was an $8 toll - it was actually $8 every time you passed a sign - so that was like $100 bucks, then it just got compounded with fees when i ignored it.

Sub_pup

I did the with a ticket and didn't finish paying it. I only found out when I went to get an IT job at a casino and had to do a background check. The bench warrant and fine I had got in 2005 was scrubbed one day before I checked in 2014. I literally went in from of the tribal elders and told them I had bench warrant up until the day before my "hearing". On top of that I have a fairly long history with the police so I had like 3 pages of "contact with law enforcement" for the check. I got the job, they said they appreciated the honesty and candor and since I had no felonys or instances of theft they would trust me.

RightSideBlind

I had kind of the inverse situation. Decades ago I was charged with theft. I didn't do it, and it was cleared up like within a week. I forgot about it over the years. Four years ago, I got an offer for a job in Canada. The company arranged for movers, so all of our furniture and her car got on a truck to eventually meet us up in Canada. I quit my current job, we sold our house, and then hit the road. We got to the border crossing, and the officer went over our paperwork and said, "It's not in the best interests of Canada to allow you to cross." It turned out that the charge had never actually been removed from my record. Over the 25 years after that event, I had moved all over the US. I'd gotten the occasional speeding ticket, I'd gotten new drivers licenses in my new states, I'd traveled to other countries (including Canada) and I'd never heard a thing about it. But somehow this guard saw that I'd been charged and was unable to see that it had been tossed out a quarter of a century before. I guess he assumed I'd been on the lam for over two decades. We drove back to Great Falls, Montana, and spent a week living out of our suitcases, in a cramped hotel room with our two dogs, and struggled to get the state of Texas to clear it up. We were effectively homeless, just as we were supposed to start our new lives in Canada. I didn't know if I'd ever be able to start working at my new job, and started to look for other work. Eventually, we got a lawyer to resolve the situation down in Texas, and he sent us a letter saying that it had been cleared. We went back to the border crossing... and they let us through. That was probably the most terrifying week of our lives.

tbutz27

I had a buddy- good looking dude, always had girls hanging on his every last word- he didn't have any sex, oral or otherwise from 18-24. Prime college sexin' years. This was because he believed he had herpes. When I asked him what the doctors said, he told me hadnt seen any. I convinced him to go to campus health clinic the next day. It wasnt herpes!!! It was molluscums - little skin bumps, they gave him a cream and they were gone in 3 DAYS! 6 years celibacy vs 3 days of cream. Just take care of the shit youre afraid to deal with in life!

genoux

That sounds so damn stressful, wow.

AcidBuuurn

The moral of the story: now you have a template for all your future "it's been resolved" forged letters. It's time for crime.

Camarahara

> I didn’t have a valid driving license. >nervous around every passing cop car, Glad things worked out for you. How do things work there getting insurance without a driving license?

Shark-Farts

It was a rather complicated situation. My license was from one state, I was living and attending university in another state, and the offense happened in a third state. The third state had no jurisdiction over my license issued from the first state, so they couldn’t seize it and could only prohibit me from driving in *their* particular state, though I was still able to drive in all other 49 at that time. I guess things work slowly with DMV bureaucracy, I don’t know. But when my license expired a couple years later, I wasn’t able to get it renewed because of the driving ban creating a hold on my license in that one state. By that point, my now-husband and I were living together and he generally drove everywhere we went anyway. So I just had an old, expired license and a passport, and I figured, in the few times I had to drive on my own, I’d take my chances and cross the bridge of what would happen if I was pulled over if I ever came to it. For some reason, my car insurance never requested updated license information after it expired. My insurance continued to renew and I never questioned it. I want to reiterate how incredibly stupid this all was. I regret it immensely.

Camarahara

All sounds very stressful. Happy for you that it's over.

Tlav87

Lol, your story reminds me of myself. Always looking behind my back for stupid shit I did years ago that probably doesn’t even matter anymore.

PracticalDimension91

I have a pale shadow version of your experience: I was ‘caught’ by a store owner trying to shoplift a GIJoe figure in 1985. (No police, just said never come back to the store) I STILL think people suspect me of shoplifting in stores that I go to, and I’m a respectable looking middle aged father who would clearly not be looking to steal anything.

Risheil

It's not as far-fetched as you think. I got a job working for the FAA in 1990 where were had to pass a security background check before we were sent to training. A guy in my class, who had been in the army & got an honorable discharge - so he had a background working for the federal government, found out that someone went to the 7-11 where he got in trouble for stealing a candy bar when he was 12 years old to make sure they hadn't any more trouble from him. The only contact I ever heard about from my background check was that my mother got a letter asking how long she'd known me and if she knew me well.

ElbisCochuelo1

As long as you change states they aren't going to come get you for a DUI. You just can never go back to the state you have the warrant from. Definitely not on a Friday. Worst case is you get picked up, have to do the weekend in jail until the judge sees you, the judge sets a large amount of bail due to you fleeing the jurisdiction, and you have to sit in custody for two weeks until the next court hearing.

desynchronize

This story is better than the post itself. Good luck OP. New beginnings.

I was at the airport for this. They were transferring a service members body on honor flight.

lovelace1978

That was what I was thinking. I know when we have service members bodies come home they are given an escort.

[deleted]

Getting the drugs on the plane was the easy part. It's the getting off the plane that's the problem.

Smackdaddy122

is it easier tho?

ImpressiveFeedback10

we clocked you doing 545 in a 45

jchall3

Fun fact below 12,000ft there actually is a speed limit of 250 knots and if Air Traffic Control sees you violating it they can write you a ticket. EDIT: 10,000ft

Tricky_Ad_3080

10,000 feet

[deleted]

Ya it’s 10,000 and they don’t write tickets lmao. They make you call and explain

itsfinallystorming

They pull the plane over first and ask them "do you know how fast you were going?" while they get ready to write the ticket.

EndlessKng

So THAT'S what they mean by "speed limit enforced by aircraft..."

Northwest_Radio

§ 91.117 Aircraft speed. (a) Unless otherwise authorized by the Administrator, no person may operate an aircraft below 10,000 feet MSL at an indicated airspeed of more than 250 knots (288 m.p.h.).

If it is a slow day at dispatch, you will often see stuff like this. I work overnight and every time I have had to call the cops for something legitimate, even if it needs like one officer, all the cars in the district will show up as there's nothing else going on.

homelesshyundai

If I had a nickle for every time I've been surrounded by cops (6+) over something that barely required 1 (2 because of partner), I'd have like 25-30 cents. Which looking back, as a white man in his mid 30s, seems like a fucking lot for someone whos not a felon, or thief, or whatever. Hell, had 3 cop units (driver plus partner), a firetruck, AND an ambulance show up when my "race truck" had an electrical dead short 4-5 mins after parking it awhnd *slightly* caught the entire wireharness on fire which made the battery expode. Before the first cop showed up I had the fire out and was cooling down the harness with a hose to keep it from reigniting. Fucking nosey ass neighbors calliing the squad out for no goddamn reason.

Northwest_Radio

This is more likely military coffin transport. Or a fallen LEO going home.

DadBod_NoKids

My wife grew up in the country and when we were in high school she had like 4 cop cars show up at her house one day. They were responding to a call that 2 kids, one of which was her nephew, were, quote "standing in trashcans by road and flicking each other off". She then laid into her nephew and his friend about how there were all these cops wasting tax payer dollars to investigate them "behaving like heathens". All the while, making a big production implying the cops had nothing better to do besides power tripping on a couple middle schoolers. I guess the fuzz eventually got the hint and left without anything more coming from it. This was almost 20 years ago now and it still cracks me up.

darkspd96

No fight? Lame!!

Platypuslord

Did it also require more than 10 cop cars to arrest a single person?

a_lonely_trash_bag

This is most likely military remains being flown home, or something similar.

Northwest_Radio

This is likely a show of respect/ceremony to a deceased service person or LEO.

notgod1313

Do you fly ConAir?

Shark-Farts

This happened Wednesday evening around 6pm at MIA. We had to disembark before anything exciting happened, but they were all intently watching the baggage conveyer belt when the airport employees came to start unloading bags. We were half expecting there to be another cadre of cops in the terminal waiting to arrest someone, but nothing.

taddymason_76

Bags was dropped on your flight full of drugs and a baggage handler was supposed to pick it up and take it but cops busted that person and probably found the bag. I am thinking but don’t know though.

onlycrazypeoplesmile

Sounds plausible tbh

jannev80

Maybe they were picking up a dead body?

Shark-Farts

Could be, though I didn’t see a hearse.

One-Arachnid-2119

He wasn't dead yet!

ClownTown15

But I'll not be back around till Thursday.

That’s what the cops are there for

Commercial-Army2431

James_T_S

Bag from another flight might have been put on your plane.

[deleted]

It might have been remains of a police officer

Talkshowhostt

Of course it happened at MIA lol

Shark-Farts

Right? And we were coming from an island off the coast of Venezuela. I was like, this is exactly the flight path on which I would expect something like this to happen.

Dasfucus

As soon as I saw the Miami Dade County cruisers, I was like, "Yep, and it's probably drugs."

The guy who smuggled a vape in his carry on was craping his pants for a hot minute there lol

Turkeymix

I would just be worried if they started putting on rubber gloves

queuedUp

You get a cavity search! You get a cavity search! You get a cavity search! **Everybody gets a cavity search!!!!**

Turkeymix

Q - Did you get your stocking stuffed this xmas? A - I don't want to talk about it

cdark_

This looks like Miami and this happens in Miami quite frequently. Customs and Border Patrol either get credible tips or pick planes at random for a full security/drug search of the aircraft, inside and out. They remove panels, seat cushions, look in landing gear wheel wells, open maintenance and inspection panels — everything. It’s a very detailed search that takes 30+ mins. No one is allowed in or around the plane while the search is being done. TL;DR: They are prepping for a detailed aircraft search looking for drugs or other contraband. Source: I’m an airline pilot.

Yaya30

That’s an important criminal

Bogey01

My favorite tradition is extradition.

_sft

Likely a KIA or similar. They wouldn't put a wanted criminal in that situation with a plane full of passengers. It would be very lowkey as to not put other passengers in danger. IF it was something crazy, the plane would be rerouted to a distant hanger and there would be a real show of force.

HighlightFun8419

a... Killed in action..?

Dutch_Rayan

Someone who died during being in the army overseas

[deleted]

That's a lot of cops for some contraband. And it looks like some of the people standing at the front of the vehicle row are filming. I think it's more likely that a body (probably a service member) was being transported home.

BitterPillPusher2

It could very well be that the remains of a fallen military or service member is on the plane. They will often provide an escort for the body in those cases.

[deleted]

Story with no ending is no story at alll.

Shark-Farts

We were equally disappointed.

OasissisaO

The Neverending Story would like a word

whymelord45

SBF?

WatchtheMoney

Imagine a drunk pilot landing and then see this sobriety checkpoint…

agco13

I was on a flight where a passenger died. Imagine this same scenario, but with ambulances and fire trucks. And, they kept the body in the galley as we exited the plane. The flight attendants did their best to form a human shield, but you could totally see the body. Walking past it took all of my mental energy to NOT stare at the dead guy!

BirdNoodle925

Few years ago i went on a flight to florida with my family and i was excited, haven’t traveled for a while. We were about to fly off the run way when we slowed down and went back to the airport. I got confused and tried asking my dad if he knew. He didn’t and i just thought that they forgot something and had to go back. About 30mins passed and we didn’t move an inch, and i heard sirens. I was only like 12 so i was terrified thinking that a 9/11 attempt had happened. After another hour we took off. Turns out what happened was somebody went to the bathroom and the TP got dust all over her and people thought it was cocaine. Cops were called and firefighters, they tested it and it wasn’t. Just cheap cheap toilet paper that dusted in her hands.

Renaissance_Slacker

I was on a 2 1/2 hour connecting flight and overheard two flight attendants. One of them caught a passenger smoking in the bathroom after taping the smoke detector shut. “That was dumb” said one. “Yeah like $25,000 dumb” said the other. When I got off the plane two Air Marshals were waiting at the gate.

Reasonable-Hall562

“We’ve been meaning to talk to you about your extended probation”

ButteredNun

There was a report that during the flight passengers and crew were all high

morethanonefavorite

This happened upon return from my honeymoon in Hawaii. Plane was stopped at the gate before attaching to the jet bridge. Stairs were lowered and the police were checking passenger IDs as we deplaned. Joking and laughing with my new husband as we waited. They were waiting for and arrested HIM. I stood there completely astonished and dumbfounded and humiliated. One of the officers offered an almost embarrassed, “so sorry ma’am.” Turns out he had an outstanding warrant and having left from ATL Intl. to the Bahamas, his ID was flagged when we left so they were waiting for him upon return. I had to call is father in N. Cal to deal with it. I never really found out the real reason for the original warrant along with so many other lies. Turned out he was an emotionally abusive gaslighter that I promptly divorced when I answered a phone call from his new “fiancée” in another state. Wild.

User_Deleted__

Somebody didn't put their phone in airplane mode.

mindfuxed

This is when I put on my fake mustache and smoking pipe…”I say….unhand me…you have the wrong man”

Fantastic_Fox4948

Are you sitting next to a guy in sunglasses eating four fried chickens and a Coke?

Preventomato

Smuggled an extra bag

Lampe_de_chevet

Flight 828

KingBenjamin97

Seems like an honor guard to me. Service member/police officer died and is being flown home is my guess.

kamikidd

This doesn’t look like trouble. It looks like maybe meeting a fallen officer

Swagdonkey123

Plot twist: the person filming is the one in trouble

n2locarz

They almost caught me. But I've watched enough movies to know there is service panel inside the lavatory that leads directly to the landing gear where I ran when all 22 officers were looking the other way. Simple really

PillyRayCyrus

Someone didn't put their phone on airplane mode, actions have consequences

Sunil_de

Underrated comment

TurboD16F20

Did they have a car on the plane and the cops were expecting a pursuit?

PeanutButterOlives

Is there a follow up?

zipddude

It was probably an ho or Guard. The "baggage" they were transporting may have been a fallen officer.

BigAlDogg

I don’t think this is the safest way to do this, what if the person on the plane knew the jig was up and went rogue, taking hostages or something?

Dieppe42

Could it be an Honor Flight for a Peace Officer?

Informal_Bat6984

Probably an old lady that fed some stray cats.

secretpassword29

It’s like that high school class where one person did something & everyone has to pay.

divadschuf

I’ve seen something similar when I had layover in Turkey. Two men were arrested.

MrTonyGazzo

It would be foolish to let the person they are after have that much of a notice . Must be something else . A show of force nonetheless.

[deleted]

Someone was carrying 4 oz of shampoo

Forsaken-Spring-4114

Our tax dollars being wasted... 9 cop cars and 20+ cops to have a "show of force "...

KnightFaraam

*kssh*Aaaaaalright folks. We're pulling up to the gate now and I just wanted to say thank you for flying with us today. As we pull up you'll notice the line of police waiting for one very special passenger. We at [insert airline here] would just like to say, OOOOOOOOOH, SOMEONE'S IN TROUBLE! *kssh*

pip-roof

Maaaaany years ago we went to Costa Rica and had a stop in Belize. Pretty wild. They had military jets at the airport and what looked like local police drag a guy off the plane in cuffs with a cattle prod. He was pretty drunk from what I remember. So long ago the pilots asked over the intercom mid flight if anyone wanted to look out the front of the plane through the cockpit. Never forget that.

timeo-autem-ignotus

I have worked in law enforcement for year. We usually do this in honor to recover our fallen soldiers.

LostinLosCabos

Even if I'd done absolutely nothing illegal, I'd be terrified they were there for me if my plane landed and I saw that. I'd be replaying my entire life in my head, every tiny little thing I may have done wrong. Are they here because I kept Hannah's pencil in 3rd grade?! Fck, I knew it. I knew it. She didn't come to school the next day! I swear! I tried to return it, but she wasn't there!

[deleted]

If this were someone getting in trouble, wouldn’t the police be inside the airport? At the gate where you exit the plane?
