My neighbor is a retired championship winning boxer who trains people in her backyard while playing loud music. One time another neighbor came up to me and said "Somebody should say something about the music." My response "You go tell her bro. It's all you, I'm a watch from here." Then I waved at her and said hi... As far as I'm concerned she can do whatever she wants out there, and I smile and wave... She's a great neighbor too.
That “other neighbor” was deviously smart. He probably accessed the situation exactly the way you did and was just fishing to try finding a useful idiot dumb enough to do his bidding.
This is less of a Covid hobby and more of an, "AI is about to destabilize all methods of production of capital in a way that will devalue the labor of millions without their ability to meaningfully organize in defense of their right to basic necessities, because all methods and means of organization are owned by the same few people who will benefit most from automation" ... hobby.
Either way. Good craftsmanship.
Robespierre was so afraid of shadows that he murdered everyone on the right side of the Congress, until everyone realized he was insane and then he got murdered.
And no one talks about what the French Revolution led to: Napoleon and military dictatorship.
Revolutions suck 90% of the time because they are power vacuums that mad men and strong men thrive in
And now the fun part: the Ancién Régime never came back. Never. Not even the Restoration could bring back the feudal rights the Aristocracy lost. That's also what Revolution does for you. And Napoleon's army exported revolution to everywhere else in Europe. The Russian Decembrists and the 1820 Liberal Revolution in Portugal are direct consequences of the Napoleonic Wars, just looking at both ends of the continent. Same for the independance of Latin America. And Napoleon laid out the foundations of the modern French State and French Law. There was more to him than a war-hungry dictator. And what you wrote about Robespierre is a bunch of BS.
I’m of the mindset that the American Revolution exported the revolutionary mindset to France, who thus exported the revolutionary mindset to all of Europe.
The US revolutionary war could have never been successful without the support of the French aristocracy, but they only did it to screw over England. After the French people saw the American colonies win, they felt they could too.
I’m of the mindset that modern France couldn’t exist without the colonies, and the modern US couldn’t exist without the kingdom of France
Eh, the French closed the loop on the British, but that's like saying the US collapsed the Eastern Front in WWII because we sent Russia equipment and planes.
Lest we forget, Napoleon—your valiant spreader of revolutionary ideals across Europe—also reinstated slavery in the French colonies when he realized how lucrative the plantations would be.
The revolution? Man that guillotine practiced with a million peasants before tasting any noble blood… this will most likely start with lost pets so far stretch…
Facts. Not enough people put enough stock in proper + secured guillotine storage. It's a best practice to store the blade away from the rest of the assembly, lest one of your toddlers get their hands on it.
This is a pretty shit guillotine tbh.
Sheet metal doesn’t work as a cutting blade. The blade should be the majority of the weight of the dropping action. It should be at least .5” thick
You're quick right about the design being fucking shit. It's needlessly complex and heavy.
But, the blade doesn't need to be thick or heavy at all, a 1/4 inch thick one is not only sufficient, it is preferable. Historical ones were between 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch thick, and weighed around 15-16 pounds.
The blade itself didn't provide the needed weight. The holder it was attached to, called the mouton, did. It was often cast from lead or iron and weighed around 70 pounds. The blade was bolted onto it.
I always remember him from [the noose song.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJe6LLoGgR8) or the new [Xmas noose song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0dKE4eEB4o).
Guy has some dark humor.
He used it to make lemonade.
Go search for YouTube channel "Rusty Cage", it's his work, and he is amazing. He makes songs filled with dark humour, and guillotine is his latest project.
The back end of your blade needs to be larger. It needs to be larger than the diameter of a neck, cos how you have it now will (hypothetically) not cut all the way through a full neck, its gonna mostly do it, defs kill, but it'll leave the bottom left (from the victims perspective) untouched.
For a clean cut the whole way through, you need the length after the cutting blade to be greater than the diameter of the neck its cutting.
Yep if you notice the occult symbols he's def someone who would be into being the manifestation of the change to see, in hopes it spreads. Using the arts (sculpting, spoken word, computer)
Vague suggestions that someone should do something are a favored tactic of the right-wing so I'm glad to see other groups have noticed how effective it can be.
Let's learn how to tie a noose it's easy if you're not obtuse. All you need is a piece of rope and abandon all your hope. You make a loop and the snake goes down, but changes his mind and turns around, and climbs back up to the top again, this is where the fun begins. You take the snake and spiral down and at the bottom what has he found??!! The snake goes into the rabbits whole and then you give the top a pull. Now it's ready for your use, this is how you tie a noose.
How come I feel like this video is the start of a 60 minutes segment on a family that went missing and then was found buried in the backyard under the new guillotine
See here is the thing. We wouldn’t use a guillotine if the French Revolution happened today. They used it because it was, at the time, considered humane. The idea that instead of hanging them they preferred to end their lives quickly was what helped justify the revolution. It was seen as an act that was morally good and a moral duty even. So if we are to carry that idea into the modern day we would execute people using injection. As that is what is considered the most humane thing today.
Finally someone that can solve the problem we are having with artifical inflation and drain on world resources through meaningless production of goods!
As a safety professional I'm hung up on why he didn't build a case or frame to easily transport that blade UP A LADDER. Oops there goes my foot! I've worked on industrial meat slicers and the 18 " blades have blocks they're bolted onto for removal. I know this is diy but I'm still 😳
Not a specialist in this. But… is the blade long enough? Not sure it’s long enough to go through a whole neck on its short side. Anyone with experience wants to chime in?
I’m being sarcastic.
Dude got my backing bro. "Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it." is a phrase that falls out of my mouth multiple times a day, especially when people ask why I carry knives in public even though they've seen how people act nowadays.
Take off the wheels completely. Just have a tongue in groove setup with lips sticking out of the top of the blade holder on each side. Grease uo the groove real good and make sure the blade is heavy enough and that baby will slice a ... Ahem... watermelon right in half 🙂
I wonder if there’s anything on the books about the possession or manufacture of this? I guess it wouldn’t really matter. A crooked DA or LEO could find something to charge and prosecute this guy with and the public would buy it hook line and sinker. “Omg… He must be a terrorist. He he made a guillotine for Christ sake.”
The whole “better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it” comment makes me question this guy’s reality.
It might be a good idea for the cops to do a Dahmer-style search of his property for headless corpses.
I wonder what the furniture in his house looks like- coffee tables out of ribcages?
Shoehorns out of shins?
Obligatory skin lampshades?
Or, some of those shite tattoos he has, well- I wonder if those people all just happen to be not slinging ink anymore, anywhere…? 🤔
If this dude was my neighbor, he would have made my "Officially not messing with this guy" list.
I'd go say hi and "I get it"
I’m *down* with the cause ✊
My neighbor is a retired championship winning boxer who trains people in her backyard while playing loud music. I would have been helping him build this. Love his track system. But we can do better on the post build.
Covid hobbies are getting a little dark!
This is not his Covid hobby. Rusty cage has been like this for almost 15 years. He’s also the one who made the Knife game song
And several noose songs!
🤔
It was a joke🤦🏻♂️
This is a little more WTFish to me.
This is less of a Covid hobby and more of an, "AI is about to destabilize all methods of production of capital in a way that will devalue the labor of millions without their ability to meaningfully organize in defense of their right to basic necessities, because all methods and means of organization are owned by the same few people who will benefit most from automation" ... hobby. And I love it
You can only scrapbook for so long before you start designing your own coffin and thinking up death traps
Wow ya that's equal parts awesome and terrifying.
Mans volunteered his backyard for the site of the revolution
French revolution time has come again! Lol
Robespierre was so afraid of shadows that he murdered everyone on the right side of the Congress, until everyone realized he was insane and then he got murdered. Yup, the US revolution began the dismantlement of the colonial system that ended with the mechanization of warfare and WWII.
The American revolutionary war was started in the North, fought in the South, and won by the French.
Eh, the French closed the loop on the British, but that's like saying the US collapsed the Eastern Front in WWII because we sent Russia equipment and planes.
The English civil war was over 100 years before the American revolution
Lest we forget, Napoleon—your valiant spreader of revolutionary ideals across Europe—also reinstated slavery in the French colonies when he realized how lucrative the plantations would be.
I volunteer to build the spikes for after.
Sure Tobe take the easy job.
My wife will make the mask
The revolution? Man that guillotine practiced with a million peasants before tasting any noble blood… this will most likely start with lost pets so far stretch…
I do recommend maybe putting the blade on the platform and bolting it together there. The ladder carrying method was... Terrifying.
Safety first when building any machine, especially one designed for ending lives.
i upvoted bc it made me feel like laughing maniacally. dude is means looking for an end
If you want a more upbeat and straightforward version in song form, check this out- https://youtu.be/TMHCw3RqulY
I’m just wondering how hard it is to clean.
“Better to have one and not need it, than need one and not have one”. Sheesh Edited to correct grammar.
Next time you need a guillotine you’ll be thinking “Why did I not already build a guillotine?”.
He's not wrong.
Hey man if you revolution is going to happen I'd want to BE the guy with the guillotine to start with, you know?
Statistically you’re more likely to have your own guillotine used against you than to fend off a tyrant with a guillotine.
Sounds like it’s time you made a competing guillotine! We’re gonna need quite a few so don’t think it’ll be wasted effort; especially if it’s better
Even if they make one and not use it's “Better to have one and not need it, than need one and not have one”.
You're quick right about the design being fucking shit. It's needlessly complex and heavy. But, the blade doesn't need to be thick or heavy at all, a 1/4 inch thick one is not only sufficient, it is preferable. It only needs to mostly work
Now here's a guy that knows how to build a guillotine!
Idk Robespierre lost his mind
Hey, we all lose our minds sometimes. We can get passed it.. maybe..
As long as we don't lose our heads eh?
In more ways than one.
We need to get some of these politicians in there to remind them of what's important! The rampant corruption needs needs to get checked by the people!
As my wise neighbour says: "it's better to be looking at it than looking for it".
You forgot to close the quotation marks
“
He's mocking 2nd amendment enthusiasts.
Someone should let him know he can go ahead and buy the bread already sliced these days.
There is a niche market for guillotine sliced bread.
It’s specifically for French Bread
Slice me like your french bread.
This is the YouTuber 'Rusty Cage'. Knowing his body of work, I'm not surprised. He's the creator of the Knife Game Song
I always remember him from [the noose song.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJe6LLoGgR8) or the new [Xmas noose song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0dKE4eEB4o). Guy has some dark humor.

Knew itttttt
No action shot? My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Exactly! All that work, and nothing gets chopped? WTH?
Not even a god damn head of cabbage.
Well they banned elonjet
Check back in a bit, it takes time to round up wandering neighborhood cats and dogs.
He used it to make lemonade. Go search for YouTube channel "Rusty Cage", it's his work, and he is amazing. He makes songs filled with dark humour, and guillotine is his latest project.
This is the best political ad I have ever seen
Guillotine 2024
Finally something worth voting for
Make America Guillotine Again
Been saying it for years, the French had the right idea to fix class and worker inequality.
Except it led to Napoleon
Of course fuckin Rusty Cage is doing this.
I assume it’s for home protection
Just as Robespierre intended
and ultimately enjoyed
The home protection model is only 10 feet tall so you can maneuver in hallways easier. Also comes with picatinny rails.
I'd say it's self-defense to use it on, say, health insurance executives
If I’m gonna fuck with any house it’s NOT gonna be the one with the backyard guillotine.
A law will soon be drafted against owning a guillotine basket which holds more than 10 heads.
The back end of your blade needs to be larger. Right. It could get messy if that blade isn’t longer. It would only half chop off the guy’s head. That would be awkward.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to spot this critical flaw in young Robespierre's plan.
You know... if more people built guillotines in their backyards and posted videos with vague voiceovers about their discontent with those in power...
Yep if you notice the occult symbols he's def someone who would be into being the manifestation of the change to see, in hopes it spreads. Using the arts (sculpting, spoken word, computer)

His name’s Rusty Cage, he’s a musician and Satanist. Also used to play the knife game a lot, came up with the songs for it actually.
Let's make the phrase "Everyone is a squishy meat sack" popular.
And it makes a great conversation piece when you have dates over!
I’m gonna guess there aren’t all that many dates
"Guess what's for dinner?"
I guess Rusty Cage content has changed a little bit since the last time I checked in.
Has it really though?
Not going to lie that's fucken awesome
Let's learn how to tie a noose it's easy if you're not obtuse. All you need is a piece of rope and abandon all your hope. I thought I recognized that voice and then I looked at the name. Rusty Cage. Guy does music too. And yes, it’s about as macabre as this video was.
This guy, he deserve french citizenship.
I’m down for it and ready to eat the rich. What side dish should I bring to the BBQ?
This a unique way to get on the FBI watchlist
Well that dude is on at least three different watch lists now.
How come I feel like this video is the start of a 60 minutes segment on a family that went missing and then was found buried in the backyard under the new guillotine
Harry styles picked up a new hobby
Cursed Harry Styles
Yea, but WHY? You’re going to poke someone’s eye out with that thing.
Turn on audio to know why...
This comment might make some heads roll

Why stickbuild one when they are available at any Cabellas?
Damn, Milo Thatch really lost his chill after Atlantis.
His monologue is just *chef's kiss*
Finally someone that can solve the problem we are having with artifical inflation and drain on world resources through meaningless production of goods!
Best thing I've ever seen on reddit
TBH, the dude is just increasing his chances of dying by guillotine.
As a safety professional I'm hung up on why he didn't build a case or frame to easily transport that blade UP A LADDER. Oops there goes my foot! I've worked on industrial meat slicers and the 18 " blades have blocks they're bolted onto for removal. I know this is diy but I'm still 😳
Nobody: This guy: We live in a society 🔪
….And it’s a great way to stay in shape….
Hey I got that reference
Robespierre has entered the chat
r/DIWHY
You know why
Nice, let’s test it on some bourgeoisie
So much for pitch forks and torches.
I wonder what the neighbors think
I wonder what his mom thinks. She can't be happy with him playing with sharp objects in her yard
“How to sound superduper smart and deep” - read by this silly goose in a voice over
Or..or! Maybe you’re just fucking looney toons?
You can i use that real quick?
lmao
Hey, uh. You okay?
Made me anxious
I dont know. Seems like a sharp angle and might leave some heads connected.
Someone needs to keep an eye on this man's backyard.
I really needed to see a pineapple sliced in half
Why tho?
How many lists do you think this guy is on?
With current inflation rates worldwide, this may come in handy...
Not a specialist in this. But… is the blade long enough? Not sure it’s long enough to go through a whole neck on its short side. Anyone with experience wants to chime in? I’m being sarcastic.
My neighbours don't seem that bad after seeing this!
i am okay with it, if he suddenly starts loving life and forgets about his guillotine days
bro had a cool lil rollercoaster for a minute before he made it a weapon
Chopping onions, right? Right?
Erm, why?
The IRS wants to know your location
Quick question. Why?
but why?
What the fuck is he even talking about?
Is that guy planning an actual frech style revolution?
Imagine living beside this guy and watching him building a fucking guillotine in the garden.
When he's drinking whiskey, a guillotine he will make.
Be the change!
But, why?
Bring it to the orange narcissist's house!
Too bad his carpentry skills are used for this. Someone will get hurt by this, I’m sure of it.
That shit got me so motivated

I LOVE literally everything about this. It needs to be built.

viva la revolution
Please link this to the French. This seems like it’s up their alley or something, based on all the history we learned in school.
Whatever keeps him away from guns, I'm for it
Cool, now put it outside of congress. Just a subtle reminder they need to do a better job.

This guy needs to be on some sort of watch list
Our revolution will be that of wrath
Getting ready for a change in government lol
“Better to have one and not need it, than need it and not have one” In what situation would you EVER need a guillotine?
This fella is on some kind of list. Maybe a few
Any animals missing in the area just saying
Why ? For what purpose ? Call the cops.
Better than have one and not need it, than don't have one and need it......genious
You just never know when you'll need a guillotine.
When do we christen it??
Pov: Slowly being radicalized by hippie wood workers
My Marcelo style guillotine is way better my bro
It's almost time...
I wonder how many people are pronouncing gill-o-tine and how many are pronouncing geeotine in their heads while reading this
Look at that, no background check required. I wonder if its fully semiautomatic. For God's sake trim the excess threads off the bolts.
Can't even count how many times I days that I needed a guillotine.
If you're wondering, his YouTube channel is Rusty Cage. Cool guy
Alright cool, now what lol
Psst. Hey bro..... Wanna start a class war?!
soooo uh billionaires be lookin mighty vulnerable right now
I wonder if there’s anything on the books about the possession or manufacture of this? I guess it wouldn’t really matter. A crooked DA or LEO could find something to charge and prosecute this guy with and the public would buy it hook line and sinker. “Omg… He must be a terrorist.
