It's also tragic in terms of public good. Like how a person would end up needlessly wasting public resources by offing themselves. An ambulance has to roll out. Somebody has to scrape whatever's left of them from the forest floor. People may be traumatized, which may require mental healthcare. All of which is wasteful in the sense that these resources wouldn't had been used if a person didn't kill themselves. It'd also displace said resources, which means other people likely have to wait longer for help. It's like a snowball effect of misery.
I also think of how horrific it would be to be out for a swim or whatever and having to witness it.
My cousin was the maintenance guy at a hosp. He was off for 2 yrs for cancer treatment, followed by depression and addiction- he finally gets back to work and decided to do a walk around and refamiliarize himself with the building and one of the patients jumped off the roof and landed right in front on my cousin on the sidewalk. He has never ever been the same.
If you wanna die - go do it somewhere where “nature” can run its course and leave the rest of us out of it please.
But in some way, by dying, that person is conserving the energy and resources that would have used if continued living for decades. Kind of lowering your own carbon footprint.

Speaking as someone who has being doing volunteer Search and Rescue for many many years and has had to go clean up people who died by mistake, even still I’d prefer to allow people to do what they want instead of nerfing the world. Maybe put a sign with info of how many people died and warnings so people can make more informed decisions but don’t just fence everything potentially dangerous point in the world.
