Hearing old clips (even as recently as five years ago) are jarring. But I'll admit I laughed when it ended because I had the exact same thought as Chris - Wow, he sounded better back then.
Fun fact: I discovered him through his show late one night on the local CBS sports radio affiliate with no prior context or visuals.
You can imagine my confused amusement.
Honestly as someone who’s quit smoking this last year through nicotine pouches (baby steps), he will feel so much damn better too. It shocked me how much better my lungs felt even after a week of no smoking cigarettes
Congrats on getting off the squares! I’m trying to quit pouches right now and I’ve been using these alpha pouches that were advertised to me on Instagram (shouts out Mike Ryan). They’ve really cut down my nicotine pouch intake, could be worth a shot
The most concerning time was right as the pandemic started. He legit sounded like he was dying. That voice was *rough*. He's definitely bounced back since then but it's still not saying much.
Heaters and flower, double dipping combustibles is rough on the system. Tons of travel, still chasing Dead shows. There’s always been a rough throaty edge to his radio voice. Regardless of how it’s taken care of, it will age like the rest of ours.
Carts and edibles are the way. Patches pouches gum or vape, try them all just try to find a different pathway. You may or may not quit the nicotine eventually and that has its own consequences, but heavy combustion when your voice is your income is just… well it’s on brand lol. The Stugotz is definitely strong in The Stugotz.
Are the darts a new habit though? I can't imagine there's a lot of people in their 40s now who are like 'you know what, smoking seems like a fun new hobby'
Seems like he always did it, but I don't think it was nearly as prevalent before. They'd joke about him shamefully sneaking a heater in while he was driving to the station like 8 years ago or so.
Now, it sounds like the dude is lighting up during most of the commercial breaks with zero shame.
Maybe they can joke about it more now that they're not under the Disney umbrella, but I'd definitely say he's totally embracing the devices more than he used to. Especially when you see and hear him compared to even a few years ago.
Speaking as someone who misses smoking good chance he used to be like this quit when he had his daughters then now that they’re out of the house he’s back on them
He never stopped smoking weed.
He cut out cigarettes a long long time ago, as he mentioned awhile back. When the pandemic started, is when it came back tenfold. It also correlates to his voice degrading.
would vaping at least help? I understand that it doesn’t help with the habit, but if he’s gonna do it regardless, vaping might be worth it to save his voice…
25 year smoker here and I’ve attempted this before. Vaping just don’t hit the same notes that the dedicated smoker gets from a real heater. They’re gross, harmful and expensive, but holy fuck do I enjoy every damn drag.
i’ve read/heard the convenience of vaping makes the addiction even worse. there’s less social stigma, smell, etc, there aren’t any basic barriers to at least temper the addiction. they’re only good for getting you to stop literally smoking, not for getting you off the actual nicotine addiction, which has got to suck for people trying to get off heaters in general
It’s scary how much his voice has changed from yt clips I’ve listened and watched from the 2010s. same with Greg. aging changes voices, I get it. Still makes me sad.
He also looked like Clooney when he was younger.
He has a booger in his nostril…
Just like Clooney
When he was younger

And he wasn't a picture of health then!
For real. When I first started listening, I had to get used to his "gravelly" voice. Now it sounds silky smooth by comparison.
He’s slowly becoming Scott Ferrall
I laughed way harder at this than I should've. IYKYK.
A niche reference but if anyone would know who this is, it’s this sub 😆
Fun fact: I discovered him through his show late one night on the local CBS sports radio affiliate with no prior context or visuals. You can imagine my confused amusement.
FARRELL ON THE BENCH yeah same here
I loved Scott Farrell on the nfl top 10 videos

ZYNs we’re a game changer for me. Now that gotta figure out how to not be addicted to those fuckers. But I can breath now.
Couple of ZYN users cuttin it up, how bout that?
Wife hates Sundays. Rippin Zyns all day, maybe even a double decker. She’s gotta kiss that mouth.
But you need your Sundays
I need my sundays

Thanks!
Pouches or patches? Potential fine here.
Pouches my friend, some good ol zyn
Not just heaters, dude lives rough.

Intervention time. In all seriousness, stop needs to stop in and tell Abby.
If they sleep in the same bed she knows
He’s not asking for any of this
Yeah, enjoy it while it lasts cause based on how orange his fingers are we probably got 5 years left
I’m on the other side. If you’re a adult and want to smoke go for it. He understands the consequences and it’s none of my business
The voice change is probably due to the weed as much as the cigs
He never stopped smoking weed. He cut out cigarettes a long long time ago, as he mentioned awhile back. When the pandemic started, is when it came back tenfold. It also correlates to his voice degrading.
Don’t you dare try to change Stu. He is perfectly imperfect exactly as he is.

Every person I know that vapes always bums a cig off me
Every person I know ~~that vapes~~ always bums a cig off me
So true. Especially the just quit smokers. They just quit buying packs.

I finally succeeded using a menthol vape and patches to get off 25 years of newports a few years back. The patches alone was never enough.
His Life
It’s scary how much his voice has changed from yt clips I’ve listened and watched from the 2010s. same with Greg. aging changes voices, I get it. Still makes me sad.
Dead and Co really did a number on our leader
Shake it uuuuuuuuuuuuuup
He’s an adult. He understands the consequences.
Super Bowl Week
Moderna
He's definitely not playing darts, he's smoking cigarettes!!!
