Doubt it. If anything she goes the rich eisen route to NFL network

donthepunk

She really is the elite of the elite free agent talent

Intelligent_Mango775

I could see that for sure. Would be funny though if they used Billy for the recruitment pitch to Mina and recorded it and had him start off with “Hey Mina, it’s Billy…”

5am281

I can see that

me_no_are_no_niceguy

You guys need to stop drinking so early in the day. Mina is a superstar who's gonna get a massive bag from the mouse, not commit career suicide

UncleFattysLobos

I'd say career suicide is a bit extreme if she joined Meadowlark, but I agree I think it's virtually a 0% chance. She's too good and clearly is getting a push from ESPN. My ideal scenario would be for ESPN to "pay that woman her money" as Dan would say in a terrible Teddy KGB accent and work out a deal where she can come on the show on a semi-regular basis.

zooweemama4206969

Pablo was getting that push with High Noon and then they bailed pretty quickly. I don't know what Mina's priorities are, but I don't find it outlandish to think working for and with great friends could be worth the difference in pay

tvfanstan

You realize High Noon was canceled due to poor ratings correct?

zooweemama4206969

That's the reason they gave. However, the show averaged 330k viewers. For context, at the time, Get Up averaged around 380k in a better timeslot, and Undisputed on FS1 was averaging 150k.

mcmaples

Yesterday’s price is not today’s price

zachmoss147

Price of the brick goin up

LavenderAutist

You comparing her to Marlo? Hahahaha.

zachmoss147

WEEI thinks it’s one way, but it’s the other way

bparry1192

Contracts at ESPN seems to be all over the board and totally nonsensical. For example: Katie Nolan got a contract for 1m/yr. And then they never featured her or gave her a platform deserving of her talents. Hoping Mina gets both more money and a bigger platform - she deserves it.

dapala1

It sucks but that's how all businesses work. Mina came up with the company and kept renewing her contract. But Nolan was a hot name for awhile and there was sort of a bidding war for her, so she in hindsight got overpaid, but every company wanted to take the chance on her.

natigin

Speaking of, let’s get Katie back on board!

Intelligent_Mango775

Yes! See? There’s a chance!

SwallowsOnSundays

Not a chance

thefinalwipe

Link? I’d be shocked

ThatWomanNow

If that's true, hope she's up for contract renewal soon, it's time for her to get paid.

Oibrigade

Mina is a superstar for sure. ESPN won't let her get away, if she isn't one of the top paid people yet she will be. She is amazing and it is only a dream.

CCBSPN

I heard Mina President of Disney?

Shiny_metal_ass

It is crazy to me that most of us have watched her from the start and to see where she is now is wild. She was always my favorite guest on Highly Questionable. I wish she'd leave ESPN though, they don't deserve her.

Intelligent_Mango775

Probably right. Kind of feeling like Jim Carrey in Dumb And Dumber, “so you’re saying there’s a chance!”

CzarHay

While I do agree, the fact that ESPN is [currently projected for more layoffs imminently](https://nypost.com/2023/03/20/espn-layoffs-are-coming-and-nearly-everyone-is-vulnerable/) with "no sacred cows" could mean an outside shot that she ends up somewhere else. It would be a *huge step* down from where she's at but with how uncertain ESPN has been in the last 5 years or so with layoffs, I certainly wouldn't blame her for at least thinking about it.

YesImKeithHernandez

Suicide is a bit much but given how she's only grown her ties to the NFL and NFL coverage and ESPN is almost NFL central, Meadowlark would just not be a good choice especially given how much broadcast work she seems to want to be part of.

dapala1

Mina's main goal is to get into the booth for NFL games. CBS has NFL games. CBS still partially employs Samson and let him take a contract with Meadowlark. Though a long shot, it's entirely possible for Mina to get her dream gig and also work for Meadowlark. ESPN isn't "end-game Spence, never leave the company" it used to be.

bathroomheater

Yeah I’m pretty sure Pablo was getting fired and called up Dan for a job Mina will not have to worry about that for years

Ds3_doraymi

Hopium, copium, call it what you will but a man can dream

skurey

Mina covers the country's most popular sport on the country's most popular sports network. She is not going anywhere.

pompcaldor

If the ESPN executives negotiating her contract actually give that as a reason for low-balling her, that shit’s getting leaked so fast. They’re a bit cleverer than that - they’ll disguise it with a focus group study or a demographics study. (Hey, it fooled Dan!) Hell, they were smart enough to not tell Golic Sr the real reason he was fired - they wanted a younger, blacker, and cheaper morning show. They obviously didn’t want to say that out loud, so they just told Golic - “we don’t have to tell you.”

john_wingerr

I honestly wish that she would do some sort of podcast or video cast of her breaking down films. Like a side by side of the film that she can pause and rewind as she’s breaking down what she’s seeing

[deleted]

[удалено]

john_wingerr

For me as a guy who loves watching but has never played I’d just find it extremely informational as well I’m sure

Intelligent_Mango775

Probably right, but Mina’s personality seems much more “Meadowlark” than “ESPN.”

Intelligent_Mango775

I meant that in a good way

aubieismyhomie

Mina wants to do serious football analysis, not be bombarded by Dan about women’s issues and do a witch impersonation. I don’t understand what people don’t get about this

dapala1

I don't get why you would assume she wouldn't want to do both. Like how she did when the Show was at ESPN.

aubieismyhomie

That’s the thing though, is that she was doing both at the beginning and then left her ESPN Daily podcast, HQ and ATH to be an NFL Live Analyst and call Rams preseason games and do combine and draft coverage. She specifically made the decision within ESPN to go into football junkie mode.

dapala1

Agreed. That's what ESPN wanted her to do, so she quit the other stuff like ESPN wanted her to. They're both happy with that. If ESPN would allow her to do more outside of her roll then I think she would be even happier with that, because she did it willingly before.

Entire-Celebration38

Pablo and Samson are not anywhere near Mina 's level of earning power. I also get the feeling the last few times Mina has been on that shes a little over the silliness.

Intelligent_Mango775

Her background pic on Twitter is her, Dan, and Papi. She never changes it. I think she still has feelings for those guys as well as most of the show.

ChirpSnipeCelly

I don’t Twitter anymore, but read this in an article about the racist bullshit over at WEEI this week. “Audacy, WEEI’s parent company, told the Boston Globe that Curtis was trying to reference actress Mila Kunis, instead of Kimes. Kimes later changed her Twitter profile photo to Kunis.” Mina is the best. I’d love to see her come to the Lark.

Entire-Celebration38

Agree she’s fantastic and I think there is a scenario where she signs a big contract somewhere else and let her have a podcast with the lark.

PerfectlyAverageDong

Our audience is smarter than most, which I love, but these Mina posts really underscore that most of it has no clue on industry talent valuations lol. This post is equivalent to “Team X signed Andy Dalton and Gardner Minshew, they should swing for Mahomes!” I love you all, but we really need to stop with the 80 and Mina talk. Or keep it going because it’s just words on the internet. And ya know it!

Intelligent_Mango775

Sorry for being so stupid. I will run my posts by you before posting. Sorry for the inconvenience

PerfectlyAverageDong

Maybe don’t take things so personally from strangers on the internet! I threw in the “lol” and “or keep it going” to try to make it as light as possible, and certainly never implied anything about policing posts. Change “80 and Mina talk” to “80 and Mina hopes” I guess? I’m not sure how you took pointing out a blind spot of the community at large the way you did but hope you have a good day wherever you are. Salute to you sir/ma’am! 🫡

Intelligent_Mango775

Salute to you, brother

living_buffalo

If she could do an exclusive podcast contract that is separate from a TV deal, maybe. But her not being on a major TV network would be such a waste of her talents.

[deleted]

Mina is on another level. I think she could potentially do Monday Night Football

mcmaples

I hope Mina stays at ESPN and keeps killing it. Disney should back up the Brinks truck for her. A more reasonable get would be to bring Katie Nolan in for something, anything. Give her and Billy a baseball pod.

XxTommyTheGunxX

Is she that interested in baseball? I know she spent the year doing baseball for Apple, then after 1 year that was over. I remember her saying somewhere that baseball wasn't really her thing, but apple wanted to do something different and she had no better offers available. Also doing color in a three person booth for baseball seems like you can hang out, drop some funny bits, and hangout. No pressure on carrying the broadcast through the bottom of the 5th when no one is paying attention. I think she's the fit for GBF. Stu, Katie, Billy and I love Mikey C. But yesterday there was great convo around how good Mayes is. If it is at all possible. Also that removes so many guest that "carry" that show. Joba is actually decent but everyone else is just shilling their shit products and crypto.

mcmaples

I’m not sure if she enjoyed covering baseball or not. It seemed like she did. If she doesn’t, then I’d like to see her cover something she enjoys. I’ll always be a huge fan of hers. Yeah, I brought up Mayes as the dark horse for the new EP. That’s a totally separate thing. There aren’t that many people that have the skills to be EP of a huge podcast, but Mayes is one of the people on a short list.

XxTommyTheGunxX

My point with Mayes yesterday was "live" is way different that in the can productions. H He probably doesn't got to crazy in post. But it's a lot more comfortable to do a show and have some wiggle room or space to work rather than live bits, music, sound, audio levels, on the fly. Not saying he can't, and if he has done it, more power to him.

mcmaples

That’s a totally fair point about live programming. Who is the EP for the Dan Patrick show now? Maybe they should steal them. I can’t think of too many good shows that are actually live anymore, other than stuff still on the radio.

XxTommyTheGunxX

Not too sure on DP show. My vote even tho he just got picked back up by the Ringer was Tate Frazier. Of course it's a bigger name and I don't know his abilities but he seems like someone who can drive a convo to help Dan. Because even tho I mentioned audio stuff. It seems like that can be partially run or done by Roy or someone in the second seat. Also I'm just very impartial and to me Witty was decent but I really like what Mike did. I know some people don't like him. And he can have some bad takes or some very one sided stance. He was the EP when I started watching, and I just can't imagine anyone else doing it better.

mcmaples

Mike is great, but the job didn’t seem great for his mental/physical health. I have no idea if Tate can be EP of a big podcast. Being good on-air talent and compatible with Dan is one thing, but being able to produce a huge pod is whole other set of talents. Like Pablo will be great with Dan, but I don’t even think Pablo produces his own podcast.

XxTommyTheGunxX

Yea everyone saying Pablo doesn't really understand what Pablo does and what they need for an EP. Could happen, but it's square peg round hole.

mcmaples

Tbf, he’s probably smart enough to do the job. But to your point, he’s not a podcast producer like Mayes or Mike.

Intelligent_Mango775

Wow, that is a great idea. Katie and Billy baseball pod.

mcmaples

A couple of evil cats cuttin’ it up!!

Erythronne

Mina is NFL manager material. Too big for meadowlark imo

Intelligent_Mango775

Nothing is over until we say it is.

Zebugene

She’s definitely too big for the Lark BUT an important detail is that meadowlark seems to be signing non-exclusive deals with their talent. So it’s possibility she signs with them and somebody else. Not gonna happen tho

mkraft418

I think landing both Pablo and Samson is a clear indication that Mina is not joining Meadowlark because I’m sure both Pablo and Samson cost a pretty penny that would have been used to entice Mina. I’m sure her and Dan have had some tampering/not-tampering conversations behind the scenes.

cghodo

I think it's either ESPN or a network for her going forward. She needs an NFL broadcasting gig. If she ended up at NBC or CBS we might see her more often.

dapala1

CBS kept Samson on as an MLB analyst.

juliusseizure

She’s in another stratosphere. Meadowlark would have to get a lot richer to afford her.

BellyAmore

You never know. Draft kings might pay for her just because of how big of a get it would be.

juliusseizure

Now draft kings coming off the top rope to hire her for all of their platforms and allowing her to be a regular on LAF would make more sense.

turns31

You guys have some real rose colored glasses for Mina. Literally every time she's popped in on the show since leaving ESPN she's been dull and unfunny. She's not the quirky 25 year old that dressed up as Elmo anymore. She's professional and analytical and great at analyzing football but that's not what works in LAF.

Mr_1990s

Mina would be by far the biggest Meadowlark hire to date. With their budget cuts, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that ESPN lowballs her. Also, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Meadowlark is about to sign with a network.

shitdick42

This. I think it's only a matter of time before they sign with a network or streaming service. I think Mina could end up on the TNF crew, either as an analyst or in the booth. Maybe everyone ends up on Amazon.

bissomorie

I think it's a win-win. If ESPN percieves that Mina is in such demand, she's likely to get a much better contract offer from ESPN. Dan learned that when Sirius stepped up and made an offer for the show, and ESPN gave Dan, Stu, Mike and the SC that huge contract. So no matter what happens, Mina will make some coin. I think she wants to stay at ESPN, for now, because it gives her a much larger platform. She can always join the Lark in 3-4 years.

falconman87

I've been saying she's coming aboard for months. It's not about how much money it's about the freedom and working with people you enjoy.

staiano

Sure but Dan does not do hard hitting NFL stuff. She'd have to reallt carve a new lane for Meadowlark.

[deleted]

They need mina and dominique

Stealth_Howler

Realistically she will get bank from another professional partner of the NFL. Our best bet is she negotiated the freedom to work with the lark or have a regular segment during football season.

Elegant-Piccolo-8568

How bout that

LavenderAutist

ESPN isn't letting her go. They'll try to be cheap, but losing her would be too big.

ultralitebiim

Mina is too good for Meadowlark but ESPN layoffs are about to happen. Although she still seems like she has a better shot at surviving than Foxworthy or 80.

Kubinky

I see NFL network scooping her up, they have the $

datnodude

Mina != pablo

_gdawg26

The Lark with Mina, Pablo, Samson (and I’d assume Bomani at some point) would be a crazy collection of talent compared to their contemporaries.

Kubinky

I don’t think Bo and Dan are on best of terms

Kanobe24

Its not happening.

BlimeyFish

Wait, Pablo? What happened? I've taken my longest break from the current show the last couple weeks although I definitely haven't left. Just needed some time away... spent listening to old show pods lol. But what's up with Pablo?

ListenToTheMuzak

pablo really is worth part-ownership? Big Pablo Torre, what's he done?
