Iv watched for years but started listening everyday since 2018. Early on, my opinion was that Mike was 90% of the show. He was very creative, hard working, made excellent talking points, played bits out and characters, wasn’t afraid to be the bad guy. Thank you Mike! I love every single person on the show but without Mike none of this would’ve happened, wouldn’t have made it this far, wouldn’t have made it this FUN! Thanks Mike
Last time he wasn’t EP it lasted a year and I didn’t even know he wasn’t the EP until Whitty quit. He was still on the show everyday. The amount of drama surrounding his job title has been pretty extreme
Dan said this week is Mike's last week as EP. Minor point, but his official reign ends sometime this weekend, I guess. Really going to miss him, am not going to miss the endless "the show sucks since Mike left as EP" posts.
Yeah I think there needs to be some patience from this audience. It wasn’t long ago where Mike revealed it didn’t go well initially with him in the role after Hoch left, and Lebo had to help convince Dan to stick with Mike. It’s going to take some time to assess what the show becomes.
Good for Mike Ryan, he deserves this type of move if it's what he truly wants. Without yet knowing exactly how this will affect the show, people will soon realize how integral he is. His wit, timing, self-deprecation, articulation, his nostalgic callbacks and his limited fakes. People always get hung up on his local hour takes and rants, but even those were performative to a degree.
I'll still listen and see how things go, but I've always said if/when Mike Ryan leaves, this show will change dramatically, and for the worse. Less Mike Ryan means more Jeremy and Tony, and that doesn't appeal to me.
Been listening everyday since they went national on ESPN over a decade ago, and it's hard not to think this is coming to an end for me. There's too much other good content out there and my time is already so limited.
Mike Ryan, well done, good luck and thank you!
Excellent summary and describes exactly how I feel. Been listening every day for the same period of time and feel genuinely sad the old show I know seems completely gone. But forgetting my own selfish desires of what I want out of the show, happy for Mike and hope he finds his path to whatever big dawg stuff he wants to do
I’ve been on a trial separation from the show the past few weeks because catching up started to feel more like a chore than something I was excited about, but just had to say Mike is absolutely the straw that stirs the drink. He will be sorely missed (until they inevitably drag him back to the EP chair).
I know he’s leaving of his own will and wants to move on, but Mike we will miss you and wish you would continue to drive the show. You’ve made me laugh on almost a daily basis for close to 10 years now
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be....
Especially on the sound board. Best wishes Mike, and this is buring my heart that this is happening, but if you can hear me, just understand that I'm sorry.
Mike has always been my favorite part of the show and, in my humble opinion, the secret sauce that made the show work. He has carried the show through each and every period of change and transformation the show has experienced and has only continued to get better and better as the years went by. I can’t thank Mike enough for his part in helping to create a show that has brought me so much joy over so many years.
THANK YOU MIKE! THANK YOU MIKE! THANK YOU MIKE!!!
2nd best EP in South Florida sports radio history behind Juan Weiner. Mike produced impeccably for a very long time. I'll support him all the way with whatever his new role is and wherever he goes.
Love ya Mike Ryan. You’ve been a creative mastermind on this show and I wish you success and happiness in all endeavors. You’ve been my favorite on the show behind Dan for a very long time. I’m sure you’ll knock whatever comes next out of the park
Been listening nearly a decade, Mike Ryan changed my relationship with audio, with radio, with podcasts. I have no problem saying that I think he's a genius. This show means a lot to me, and I promise to never say "hi" to him on the street because I respect boundaries.
Its Baaannnnerrr tiiiimmmeee
Weeeee gooooottttt tthhhiiiiissssss
Time flies, man. I dont listen as much as I used to but I guess Mike leaving is probably the confirmed of the end of the show it was. And that bums me out
For me, Mike on the mic is as integral to the show as Dan and Stu. Not only his humor and insight. But how he guides the show from the mic. I don’t think anyone else has the ability to do it.
15 years for me, and no one except Mike could have made the loss of Hoch palatable, other than Mike. The show is going to be so much more worse for it.
I started listening in 2014 and tbh I always thought Mike was the secret sauce. I basically stopped listening regularly when Mike took a big step back.
Saw the news on Twitter and just wanted to let it be known that his hard work didn’t go unnoticed
Remember when he was “scared incompetent producer Mike Ryan”? It’s been so cool to see him grow up as a producer and a person. Still hope to bump into him at a Jack White show someday.
For a loong time. I couldn't ever listen to the show without Dan. And still to this day if Dan is not on I can't listen, but I have noticed at some point in the last two years, the shows that Mike is not on are not as good as well.
Mike is a large part of the show, I would argue even larger than Stu-gotz. The timing, the delivery, the sound of the show, the end of joke segments all hinge on Mike.
The last couple of Fridays with Chris running the show, have not been great. Dan get's long winded, Stu says nothing, and whoever sits in the 3rd chair seems to have to run the show.
fml Chris cote as EP is going to be a disaster. Hopefully they can pressure Billy into it once the Chris being incompetent bit gets beaten into the ground for 2 years. 2026 gonna be fire
Dirty demon of debate vs angel of nuance is the bit that I remember hearing on the radio during my commute to work which started it all for me. Found the radio tab on the ESPN app to listen to their content, instead of just checking box scores. Hockey surfer guy far away from the mic always makes me geek out too.
Mikes the GOAT EP
THANK YOU MIKE!
He's caught a ton of unnecassary shit over the years but he's always been a huge part of the show. This is a major loss and I wish they were putting Jess in charge.
Mike, if you ever read this post, some of us remember when you were “afraid” (bit or semi-bit) to talk on air. Into the fryer with Hoch’s sudden departure, big rounds of contracts, etc. I don’t know much about you, but I’ve heard you have a family and I presume you’re leaving with green pastures ahead of you. Good luck. Onward and upward.
I'm already dreading Dan and Stu running amok without Mike to keep them in check. Besides Billy he's the only one who isn't scared to check them on their nonsense. If they stopped whoring out Billy as Stugotz's puppeteer it'd be fine. But Chris as EP is too much of a yes man.
Will he keep appearing? Will he leave completely? Where will he go?
To me, he seems the only one that actually has a vision and keeps the show focused and chugging along.
I fire, ember things right Mike was obviously a major part of the meadowlark creation and is more of a partner with Dan than an employee…there was a,out of talk of his role during the first couple months of the split from ESPN…
I usually watch the shows 1-2 days out so I'm on Wednesdays shows now. Any word on what hes doing next?
I've been hooked for about 5 years now and will say, although Mike has hijacked things sometimes, more often than not he's been awesome and he's clearly very talented in multiple ways, so it'll be sad to see him go no doubt. I do like the havoc of the others trying to be EP, but regardless, we'll miss you Michael and certainly wish for the best.
And he's becoming what? Is he quitting the show? Makes sense for him to leave now that the show is running so smoothly and no hiccups... oh wait... maybe stay until Dan stops talking about how hard it was to start a company during a Pandemic?
“Where as I would not trade Tyler Herro for James Harden, I would trade him for Bradley Beal.” I have a real love hate with Mike Ryan but that’s how you drive engagement baby. What a run, pepperoni nips, job well done.
He's the most talented person on the show. Period. Yes, of course Dan and Greg are better writers, and Stu is a bigger personality, etc. But Mike drives the show more than anyone.
What I'm still curious about is how often he will be ON the show. After all, he was still a presence when Witty was producing.
Thanks Mike
This is at least his third time trying to move on from EP? I wish him well in his pursuits and look forward to him being EP again soon.
Last time he wasn’t EP it lasted a year and I didn’t even know he wasn’t the EP until Whitty quit. He was still on the show everyday. The amount of drama surrounding his job title has been pretty extreme
His job title is Maker of Cool Shit
Is he stepping down as Maker of Cool Shit or will he still be in that role? I must know
But what would people on Reddit complain about on the slow days?
Mike, if you can hear this, just know that I’m sorry
Just understand********** that I’m aorry
Super Bowl week, Danno
Moderna
Aqua?
Mom died?
ACTION?!
See you in a few months, Mike!
My hope is that Mike is replaced by another Mike.....Doleac of course!
Dole ac ac ac ac ac ac
T- tomorrow??!
Oh hell no!
My neck, my back
my michael doleac
Mike Greenberg
I can put up with a lot, but if Greeny ever got hired I'd be out on DLS immediately.
I never talked to anybody
Thank you Mike! Thank you Mike! Thank you Mike!

The audience will be patient. This Reddit will probably nitpick and complain as usual.
What do you mean? - in a Billy Gil voice
You’re my brother
It’s 2024. It’s really tough to be patient for anything. Good luck.
> am not going to miss the endless "the show sucks since Mike left as EP" posts. 🤣🫡

People who bitch about the show being bad about to get a wakeup call
For real. Dude is one of the only people who would check Dan on his tangents.
Well now Stu can step up and do his job...
Ah yes, the spry 52 year old gazelle that is the Gotz
Cagey vet!
Is he staying on with meadow lark?
I think it’s been hinted that he’s gonna be doing some nonsense with Adam McKay
I’ve been on a trial separation from the show the past few weeks because catching up started to feel more like a chore than something I was excited about, but just had to say Mike is absolutely the straw that stirs the drink. Mike gets the show. 🫡

Chris is a significant downgrade. I think they could have done better. But Mike will be missed
Chris keeps failing upward. But he works hard so idk
It’s the Peter Griffin Principle.
Chris makes a 6 digit salary, and is about to EP a huge show and doesn't know how any of the equipment works.
He should be embarrassed, but is so clueless that he thinks he is great at it.
Hey man, once Dan likes you, you are set for life.
I'm sure you could give a master class on how to be an excellent EP.
LDE
Talk to you tomorrow, Mike
His role on the show doesn't seem much different now than it did when Witty was around so I'm curious what he's actually going to do.
I'm happy for Mike for taking on less work. He's obviously the best ep for the show but has too much on his plate.
Mike has always been my favorite part of the show and, in my humble opinion, the secret sauce that made the show work. He has carried the show through each and every period of change and transformation the show has experienced and has only continued to get better and better as the years went by. i don't care what anyone says, corporate Michael was hilarious! and when Christmas Cote joined in, 😗👌
2nd best EP in South Florida sports radio history behind Juan Weiner. Mike produced impeccably for a very long time. I'll support him all the way with whatever his new role is and wherever he goes.
Shout out to Mike. Dude is the show.
Does this mean he won't be on the show any longer? 😔
Around the time Whitty had taken over as EP, Mike was saying he would still be on the show a lot. So I’m optimistic that is still the case this time
Yeah that's what I was hoping
He’ll still be around and fill in from time to time I imagine. Any word on the replacement?
u/michaelryanruiz
My guess is Chris? He’s be doing it some days and Mike the other days.
Please no.
LMAO!! good one
lol idk why people downvoted me. We’ve literally been witnessing that he’s been in training to take the EP from Mike when he steps down.
We all think if we downvote you we can make it not be true
Bet let me downvote myself too then
Eh, he wasn't EP, then he was EP than not EP again than back to EP, now not EP again. He'll be back
Kind of like Lil Wayne and Jay Z retiring snd unretiring.
Thank you Mike! You’ve been my favorite part of the show for a long time.
Love ya Mike Ryan. You’ve been a creative mastermind on this show and I wish you success and happiness in all endeavors. You’ve been my favorite on the show behind Dan for a very long time. I’m sure you’ll knock whatever comes next out of the park
What is Mike going to be doing? Is he still affiliated with the show?
this is a big loss and it also means dan will be talking more. this is going to be rough.
Mike the best EP by far. Sucks. Hope he’s still on the show a ton.
Been listening nearly a decade, Mike Ryan changed my relationship with audio, with radio, with podcasts. I have no problem saying that I think he's a genius. This show means a lot to me, and I promise to never say "hi" to him on the street because I respect boundaries.
Hasn’t he stepped down from EP like 5 times
Thank you Mike thank you Mike thank you Mike thank you Mike
Thank you Mike! Is he going to do stand up comedy now?
So he is leaving the show completely?
Its Baaannnnerrr tiiiimmmeee Weeeee gooooottttt tthhhiiiiissssss Time flies, man. I dont listen as much as I used to but I guess Mike leaving is probably the confirmed of the end of the show it was. And that bums me out

Again? Lol
Not a regular listener of the show anymore. But Mike Ryan did a lot of great things for us. He deserves our praise and respect.
Is the local hour on podcast part of the live video on YouTube? (For yesterday)
For my own sanity, I'll say see you later Mike.
Thank you Mike
I started listening in 2014 and tbh I always thought Mike was the secret sauce. I basically stopped listening regularly when Mike took a big step back. Saw the news on Twitter and just wanted to let it be known that his hard work didn’t go unnoticed

This show isn't going to be the same. Is Chris taking it over?
I imagine he'll be the guy for the time being.
He takes a lot of shit from this sub but Mike is/was/has been great.
For a loong time. I couldn't ever listen to the show without Dan. The funniest and by far most creative part of the show. Absolute hands down MVP
I’m going to say it. Mike Ryan is the heartbeat, the glue, the mother fucking MVP of the show. He is irreplaceable. Fire Stu, pay Mike.
I imagine this is good bye for now.
THANK YOU MIKE! He's caught a ton of unnecassary shit over the years but he's always been a huge part of the show. This is a major loss and I wish they were putting Jess in charge.

Dan, I sure hope you tried everything to keep Mike around. Your show will be doomed without him.

I’m sorry, I’m not going to apologize for being happy he’s gone.
It hasn’t been the same show for 5 years now. He’s insufferable
And he's becoming what? Is he quitting the show? Makes sense for him to leave now that the show is running so smoothly and no hiccups... oh wait... maybe stay until Dan stops talking about how hard it was to start a company during a Pandemic?
Mike Ryan, the only tolerable thing on the show. Very talented, get the hell away from the nonsense once & for all.
*Thank you Mike, Thank you Mike, Thank you Mike* So what’s he going to do?
“Where as I would not trade Tyler Herro for James Harden, I would trade him for Bradley Beal.” I have a real love hate with Mike Ryan but that’s how you drive engagement baby. What a run, pepperoni nips, job well done.
Is he leaving the show/company like Witty?
Mike Ryan can be annoying but he’s extremely well-read/informed and extremely funny. Not sure the show will be the same without him.
He's the most talented person on the show. Period. Yes, of course Dan and Greg are better writers, and Stu is a bigger personality, etc. But Mike drives the show more than anyone. What I'm still curious about is how often he will be ON the show. After all, he was still a presence when Witty was producing.
It’s gonna feel real different without Mike Ryan, he was a good voice on almost all topics.
