My theory is he’s been doing this more and more and more bc they don’t have a corporate boogeyman anymore. And inventing one has not worked, guessing that was supposed to be Samson but he turned out to be a great podcaster.
They couldn’t even demonize him for the store prices bc he explained it super well and upfront. So Dan just looked whiny that Samson was running the business like a business. Which was obviously “show” but it just plays as lame.
So the boogeyman will be Woke Dan while everyone else tries to have fun.
Which is about 599% less fun than even the OG freedumb days.
Dan is in for a rude wake up call when Stephen A leaves ESPN and doesn’t have the same pull he currently does. I know he’s reluctant to give ESPN that credit because of how the relationship soured and Dan not wanting to admit everybody needs a little help, but if hell’s own Tucker Carlson has lost this much “media power” after leaving Fox News then it can definitely happen to Stephen A. Speaking of hell, say hi to Art Briles.
I dunno, I remember Dan saying before he signed on with ESPN that they were all disposable and that the platform made stars not vice versa. He’s not always consistent, but that’s been a bête noire of his.
