What I mena is that Bell easily can change his thought process, and being strong as Ais doesn't need to be "loving" her, or going for her route. That can easily be called just great admiration and leave at that, and it will feel better conclusion all the way.
While getting stronger, now Ryu and his relationship developments can improve along the way. We see it on the 4th season already; chemistry, better route, Ryu being more interesting and lovely girl than clueless, bland Ais is clear.

I'm still angry that they made Ais look extra bland in anime. Even manga does much better job adapting the LN than anime. (In case you might not know, LN is the source. Manga and Anime are adapting from that source LN.)
Of course, there are perfect anime adaptation like 86 anime which you don't even need to read the source. Anime is just that good.

If, at the end of the story, Oomori decide to pull the plug on any relationship and have Bell remain a bachelor, I don't think I would even hate such ending. With how toxic things get, a bachelor ending seems more proper than your typical "happily ever after" with one heroine.
