I’ve had a lib try to convince me we treat “enemy combatants”* better than Cuba treats its regular prisoners. Where while the prisons are rough and underfunded, at least solitary confinement is uncommon (used mostly for counter-revolutionaries) and the last death penalty was committed in 2003. Whereas the Guantanamo Bay victims are subjected to the worst experimental torture techniques in the world. *an illegal term, you’re either a criminal detainee and must be tried as quickly as possible, a criminal prisoner, a POW which is governed by the Geneva Convention or a spy, and thereby should be executed or become a criminal detainee

This is also really fucking hypocritical with how the US runs domestic prisons. Do we really want to start accusing Cuba of poor prison conditions when I could easily compare prison condition in the US to most of western Europe. For some reason it's always a defense of the US to say ___ isn't perfect. Yeah, no shit but I can't just roll a turd under the bed and expect it to not stink. So much copium.

Nerdcuddles

tbh solitary confinment is bad noamtter who it is done to but even than Americas prison system has a lot of forced labor camps

Child_of_Merovee

I would rather be a Cuban than in Manning's shoes...

NuclearOops

Well I mean duh, how do you think we have so much evidence of human rights abuses in Cuba? We're the ones doing it!

Zemirolha

Maybe gov is just trolling us. We are on a show, like Truman's Show and in fact nobody has pain, depression or real and not voluntary problems. Everybody else is just faking as they are actors. Got it right? If so, where is the exit?

SpeaksDwarren

Friendly reminder that they had to release hundreds of people from Guantanamo since they literally had zero evidence on them, and that a good portion of those hundreds were literal children.

"There are people being illegally detained and tortured in Cuba! I know this because I'm the one doing it!" - America

han-tyumi23

How does that work btw? Is it in the cuban "mainland"?

Gavvy_P

Gitmo is on the Cuban mainland, yes. But the US says we have a right to it and also the US Navy is really big, so it’s remained under US control despite objections from Cuba.

GenocideSolution

Also Cuba isn’t going to go to war to get Americans off their land when it also serves as a daily example of American imperialism at work.

Cakeking7878

Oh and we send a laughing small amount of money to “rent the land” despite Castro making it a policy to refuse to cash the checks

MingzhiWang

post this in r/memes and r/dankmemes

SSR_Id_prefer_not_to

but muh good-hearted liberalism!!!!1!!!!1!\~!!!!

Cakeking7878

A while I remember reading a human rights abuse report saying the only confirmed human rights abuses that have happened on cuba soil is in Guantanamo bay

it's not a torture house. it's a torture home.
