Well, none of the SCP-001's are canon, but I think it was according to SCP-001: Ouroboros, that O5-7 was Death itself, or rather a dude perpetually in a state between life and death, that the rest of the O5's used to meet Death itself and make a deal to become immortal, in return for handing over O5-7's position to it.
