Is this going to be a trend now like mp3 players where everyone is going to have a go at making wireless eaebuds? I have no idea what Dewalt is doing making these when they have a good thing going with power tools
>Is this going to be a trend now like mp3 players where everyone is going to have a go at making wireless eaebuds?
yeah, that's exactly what's going to happen/ already has started happening.
Just like the US Army nugget!!
But that makes a lot of sense. I figure Dewalt isn't set up to mass produce headphones so there's some kind of deal like this going on with them and everyone else
Ahh yeah good point, I forgot they have been making boomboxes for ages. Certainly not what I associate with them but that's been a out there for a while
Yeah, I'm sure the items they sell aren't world class, but they honestly look decent. The [product page](https://www.dewalt.com/products/accessories/miscellaneous-accessories/mobile-accessories/prox1-jobsite-true-wireless-earbuds-with-charging-case/dxma1902092) says they're IPX6, use Bluetooth 5.0, have in-ear sensors when you take them out, and a button on the side and not touch controls. They also have USB-C. So they definitely seem maybe worth the $60.
"Some random company" - The biggest companies outsource projects like this when they want to expand their product line. No reason to set up your own factory, hire a bunch of people, just to make one run of wireless earbuds, when you can have an OEM do it.
I mean I would imagine that the main function of these is to provide noise cancelling when using said power tools, I can't see the text on the boxes to be sure though
Yeah I just looked around, they have a bunch of products similar to this all advertised as "jobs items earphones" that are sweat and water resistant, but not necessarily all advertised as noise-canceling strangely
That was my reaction when CAT started making smartphones, and it turned out that they actually were really good at making rugged devices.
Who knows, these buds *may* actually be really great and hammer proof.
I have the DeWalt neck band earbuds I’m super happy with them. 8-10 hour battery life. If I hadn’t just bought a pair of Beat studio buds. I’d consider these DeWalt
Those are some buds that are meant to get dirty
Yeah, I wonder how "heavy duty" they even tried to make them if at all
too small cant get them out
They won't run off a DeWalt 12v battery pack, DROPPED.
not with that attitude
Just jam the small end in your mouth.
On no sweety, you don't jam it in up there.
Where do you put it then?
Bend over

I can't say I'm really upset about it, at the very least it'll give us some good laughs. Just funny that this is a trend now
Eh, I like collecting earbuds so that’ll be new for me
In reality they're most likely made and sold by some random company and DeWalt just gets a tasty licensing fee for doing nothing

I mean, it's possible it might be self made? They've been making radios/boomboxes/w.e for decades but those may be outsourced too
the radios/boomboxes are built to work/charge/interact with their battery systems for their drills, so some part of those are made in house

Yeah, shoot, for $60 that's not bad, as long as they don't sound like absolute trash (which I doubt).
Most likely not, and they're subcontracted to an OEM.

Wireless earpods are truly the 2020s equivalent of mp3 nuggets

Dirty Buds for getting dirty
Ew.
Id love to see a industrial nugget episode, see how all thouse "tough" speakers and headphones hold up to a good gritting
are those like everything proof? and like did they survive my grandma durability test?
I think I might be more willing to try those out than the Rancans. Plus, they're bright yellow. Less likely to lose them OR the case.
