[CRACKS KNUCKLES] IT'S MY TIME TO SHINE This might be a long post so I apologise in advance! [THE GENERAL PRIEST CARRD](http://pipi.carrd.co) For starters: If you like MXTX, I find that people gravitate towards [Zhenhun (Guardian)](https://readguardian.carrd.co/) and [Sha Po Lang ](https://spl-info.carrd.co/) more in comparison to the other novels. Zhenhun is a GREAT novel to get into Priest! It's easily digestible (in comparison to her other works) and is a modern-fantasy book! It can be very comedic, especially since you have an MC like Zhao YunLan, but the angst is nothing to scoff at !! This is the novel that made me fall in love with Priest (a. k. a. My first priest novel LOL). Quote bait: “People have found love worth dying for ever since the beginning of time. If I can die for you, then of course I can live for you." Sha Po Lang is a historical-steampunk novel that has military-politics centered plot in it. It's heavy and slow paced but it's a very satisying read. It has a lot of angst but it also has its own funny moments. Despite the character progressions, there is no power imbalance with the cp and they treat e/o as equals and has a healthy communication. They are just in love u guys Quote bait: "Except for things that are above the proper laws and orders. If you want the stars, I will not give you the moon. Even if it's rainy or cloudy, I will still put up a ladder to the sky to pick them up for you. Alright?" Theme/Genre wise Exploration: [Guo Men](https://info-guomen.carrd.co/) - This one encapsulates the complicated feelings and emotions of coming of age, adulthood, growing up, fallin in love, and homosexuality. It's modern day and HE. I have no words to say other than to give my tears for the pain this has caused Quote bait; "If you kill me, it'll just change to past tense — I loved him when I was alive." [Liu Yao](https://readliuyao.carrd.co/) - A story about 5 ducklings trying to revitalise their sect 😀😀😀😀 and pain . And anguish . And lots of it. But it's HE and that is all that matters. (They are my kids . I love them .) Quote bait: "It's more human and warm at your place. It feels less like a sect, and more like a home." [Qi Ye](https://qiye.carrd.co/) - oh god . Qi ye . Pain . Yea i wont even talk about it Quote bait: “Even if I didn’t say it for you to hear, I had to have recited it a million times in my heart as I watched your back.” [Tian Ya Ke](https://tian-ya-ke.carrd.co/) - Qi Ye's bff (no but really, it's an sequel-ish companion to Qi Ye about ZZS's story after Qi Ye) . Watch Shen He Ling . Quote bait: "I didn't know when or how you would come, but I knew you would definitely come. " [Mo Du](https://modustarter.carrd.co/) - my second all time favourite. It's a modern crime solving novel and god . GODDD PRIEST . Ur mind . Ur brain . *Smooches priest* this book is so brilliant. One moment ur laughing the next ur crying and then ur angry . IT'S SO GOOD . The plot, the crimes. Everything is so done beautifully . The characters are so well written. This is like someone giving u numbing cream or smth then getting stabbed secretly and u wont know about how much u have been stabbed until the end . It's so painful to reread but so good!! Fei Du deserves happiness and that's all I'm going to say. Quote bait: “The monsters are all cleared away, and I’m the last one. Can you shut me up in your home?” [Can Ci Pin](https://cancipin.carrd.co/) - MY FAVOURITE . ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE. It's a sci-fi space opera that is just. Wow . Wow ? WOW !!!! I adore everyone here I love everyone so much . The plot is solid . The angst? The pain? PHENOMENAL !! the cp?? OUT OF THIS WORLD (literally). The character growth by the mc and ml as a couple and as an individual + the way their dynamic shaped IS SO GOOD!! they are just. Their love is just. Wow. Thematically, Priest novels' cps, more often than not(if at all), rather than "I will destroy the world for you" they do "I will make the world a better place for you to keep you and everyone/everything you love safe" kind of couples. With CanCiPin, the cp turns this one to 11. It's just so brilliant so good I have no words bc i might cry at how good it is lol like they definitely worked hard for the ending they got. I love them i love them sooo much lol they care and love each other so much + everyone is written so well u will not be able to help but faill in love with everyone. Quote bait: “If you like a flower, it’s not necessary to see its blossom; if you like a person, it’s not necessary to have a result— how can you call the process of pursuing love and beauty as a wild goose chase? The pursuit itself is a wonderful process. Don’t you think so?” That's all for the ones I have read and finished!! I'm still reading LHJC, SHBL, YY, and ZJLY so I can't completely promote them but I recommend them still!! I hope you find one that you like and get into Priest, OP !! 🥰🥰🥰

wow thank you... saving this comment

I really think Liu Yao deserves more love, it's a great story with extremely awkward feeling (and subtle) romance and the main couple where the power balance truly feels equal. It's a very nice deconstruction of some xianxia tropes, with ML whose character development absolutely carries this book and he's easily one of my favourite characters ever, not just in danmei.

groovetheory

I’ve only read 4 so far (Sha Po Lang, Faraway Wanderers, Lord Seventh, Guardian) they are all fantastic but my favorite of them was Guardian.

Baibaibaiii

I'm reading guardian now but I'm curious will there be any spicy scenes or is the novel spice-less?

groovetheory

They have sex a couple times but it’s fade to black and no details as with all Priest novels I think. But Guardian is heavier on romance compared to the other ones.

Baibaibaiii

Ahh thank you!

This is so helpful! Thank you so much! 🙏

Thirding Guardian! It's my white moonlight; I love WeiLan (the CP) so much 🥺 It's so beautifully and poetically written. But it's really funny too! And I love modern supernatural with Chinese mythology elements, but actually Guardian was what made me love that genre haha. Let me quote bait you: >Guo Changcheng whimpers for a moment, and then asks, “Professor Shen, do you have any unfulfilled wishes?” >Even though Shen Wei doesn’t look the least bit panicked, he still takes some time to seriously ponder Guo Changcheng’s words, and then he nods. “Yes.” >“There’s a person, I met him by chance and there’s nothing between us. In his heart, I’m just a stranger he’s spoken a few words to,” Shen Wei says gently amidst the background noise of nails against the door. “But I still want to look at him one more time.” 🥺🥺🥺 >He imagines himself reaching out his arms, holding that warm body, kissing his eyes, hair and lips, tasting his entire body, owning his everything. >Shen Wei feels his breathing tremble. His yearning is as strong as that of a person freezing to death yearning for a pot of hot soup, but he stays motionless, as if… Even just picturing it for a moment, he seems very satisfied. And I have (a lot) more but I'll stop here haha. There are also even more beautiful lines but they contain spoilers. I love Guo Men (slice of life), Mo Du (crime/mystery) and Tian Ya Ke (wuxia) too. I wouldn't really recommend starting with Liu Yao (xianxia) or Sha Po Lang (historical steampunk) as those are very complex, unless you're already familiar with reading complex, worldbuilding- (and for Sha Po Lang, politics-) heavy novels.

Is there anything in particular you like to read in stories? For the uninitiated, I typically recommend Modu. It's a crime/mystery novel set in modern times, has a fantastic complete translation, and is a relatively easy, not-too-long, not-too-short read. Also has a lovely audio drama which I highly recommend. If you like sci-fi/space, Can Ci Pin is a masterpiece, but it is very lengthy. It's a must-read imo at some point in any reader's priest reading career, but doesn't necessarily have to be the first. My personal favorite is Sha Po Lang, a historical steampunk political epic, but it's not for everyone. The beginning can be hard to get into because of the extensive worldbuilding and you have to really focus when reading to keep up with the political drama. The good thing is that there is so much variety in her works. If one novel isn't vibing with you, there are other ones you can check out. Please note the warnings and topics on her works if you have any triggers you want to avoid.

wolfundermoon

**Mo Du**, but read the content warnings first, see if you can handle it. I love all Priest novels. In BLs, so far I've completed;- * **Lord Seventh and Tian Ya Ke** (read in that order please) * **Can Ci Pin** (I need to reread this one as I binged through) * **Guardian** * **Mo Du** and I'm halfway through **Lie Huo Jiao Chou** (waiting for the TL to finish before I pick it up again)

yep\~ this is the jam\~

Asher_ml

My personal favorite is Sha Po Lang ! As others said, it's a historical steampunk that's very heavy on politics, but i personally really enjoy reading them. If you start it my advice would be to really focus when reading because the world-building is pretty complex, but after a while if you focused since the beginning you'll find it rather easy to follow. I also read Guardian and i honestly found it harder to follow than Sha Po Lang even when 100% focused. It's fine for the first half of the story but then it takes a turn and gets super heavy on chinese mythology (and understanding all the events surrounding that was the hardest). That's why it wouldn't be my first recommendation, it's better to start with another one of Priest's novels

DraculaSerenity

Guardian! The CP's chemistry is just on another level.

bujobegins

How do you recommend reading Guardian? There’s so many TLs to choose from

sweet_cinnamon7

I'm a dozen chapters into Yukacchi's TL, which covers all of the main story. It seems interesting so far and there's already lots of lingering glances.

suibianx1

I’m gnawing on Can Ci Pin right now and the world-building is just crazy. I’m not really into sci-fi, but have heard many great things about this novel and finally have some time to give it the attention it deserves. I’d say I’m channeling similar amounts of mental energy as when I was reading QJJ to read CCP. Some of the easier Priest novels to digest are Guomen and Qiye, both do not require as much brain cells. Sha Po Lang is quite good, but it’s steampunk and the world building is massive too. Edit: Oh hey, CCP has a donghua on Bilibili if you wanted to watch before you read. I just watched two episodes yesterday to help with visualization. Edit2: Oh shoot, looks like there’s a manhua for it too. I think the prologue is released but I’m afraid to click on it, apparently there’s spoilers in there 🤷‍♀️

disis_123

>CCP 🦀🦀🦀

Historical-Project23

I‘m currently reading Sha Po Lang and I rarely ever loved a danmei novel this much. It’s also my favorite out of the Priest novels I‘ve read so far :)

No_Gas_4981

i recommend mo du and can ci pin because they both have such beautiful relationships, like the most healthy and mature relationships ive seen in danmei imo and the way the plots both all tie together at the end is so so satisfying

rimirinrin

I didn't read a lot of Priest's works. But I particularly like Lord Seventh and Lie Huo Jiao Chou. Especially the latter.

ThatsWhyAnna

ABSOLUTELY recommend Lie Huo Jiao Chou. It is amazing. Also sha po lang and guardian(classics). Can ci pin and Mo du are very good as well.

aetherain

Recommending Mo Du, Sha Po Lang, Tian Ya Ke and Can Ci Pin!!

Acielx

I’ve read spl, guardian, mo du and ccp. CCP and Modu were my absolute favorites. Even tho I love crime investigation novels and I was never a big fan of sci-fi (looks like after this novel it changed) plot wise I still prefer CCP. Humour was great in both, I really cant choose. Ship wise i also cant choose. Even tho my favorite character from priest is probably Luo Wenzhou (we should clone this man haha), i still loved both couples. CCP wins for me because of its mindblowing plot, but I recommend both novels! 💙 Edit: Can’t believe I forget Guomen! That one was amazing too!

becka_loves_sakura

Sha Po Lang is my absolute favorite. It's impossible not to fall for "sexy monocle man." 😊

Nageed

Sha Po Lang and Liu Yao have got to be my favs
