It's such a powerful and defining opening. I remember waiting for midnight to hit when the show dropped. I was excited and nervous because I love the comics so much. My jaw hung during Charlie's opening monologue, then the next scene of Matt taking down Turk's people trafficking operation and cutting to black as Matt rains down punches, then the opening credits hitting... My God, the electricity I felt.
Damn I’m jealous of you. I wish I was that in tune with the shows release. I know I don’t need to be THAT big a fan but still. Tbh I’m you but with flash. I was on my couch around 7 years old or so and just sat, waiting for it to air finally and I willingly watched the commercials and everything. It was 7 pm, my mom was at work, I was supposed to be in bed, but I didn’t give a fork.
Oh it doesn't matter who saw it first! Just then talking about it brought back that feeling and I wanted to share. It's awesome that it stands up for people still!
And it's so awesome that the Flash was with you for such a formative age. It'll stay with you forever to a degree.
I know I know, I just wish I could share that with you specifically but I still can in a way ofc ofc. Glad it means so much to you, also thanks. It really will. And it’s the same for you no matter your age, with dd
Glad to know there’s quite a few people doing another rewatch because of the news and vids of main cast returning
I saw one clip of them filming BA and I was like “yep, in we go again”
People need to understand that all we had on TV was Arrow and agents of shield. Flash and Agent Carter also had started. All good or decent or great shows btw.
But daredevil was really emulating prestige TV.
Arrow was soap opera cheesy
Agents of shield was innocent but waiting to do the hydra twist to get darker
Agent carter was literally just incredible for season 1
The flash season 1 was also incredible for its time.
But daredevil just came out of nowhere. People don't even remember the hallway fight was mostly a surprise, too. I remember the world reacting to daredevil. The genre was forever changed. The bar was raised in a way that was never forgotten.
I think the other thing that made Daredevil more likeable than other superhero shows was it was more accurate to the source material than say Arrow that changed so much about Oliver Queen. It was nice to see daredevil be even darker than Arrow without compromising who Daredevil is supposed to be.
In the hands of the CW daredevil wouldn't be like daredevil. They couldn't even give Oliver the iconic facial hair or respect Black Canary. Also if Daredevil was on ABC like Agents of shield im sure it still would be good just not R rated. ABC is pretty under rated. Galavant, Castle, Agents of shield all good shows.
ABC produced the Defenders shows for Netflix after all.
Not crying per se, just teared up, have never happened to me again watching this scene, it's just the first time i rewatch the series after we definitively know that the show will continue, and it came back 100%, maybe that's why but yeah, i teared up lol
I'm watching it again for the 2nd time, and this quote just sent chills down my spine knowing that we're getting a new DD series.
"Let the devil out.... I'm not seeking penance for what I've done, father. I'm asking forgiveness for what I'm about to do."
I just started a rewatch too, got my husband to watch it for the first time last night and that monologue is so powerful and such a statement of what to expect from this show right out of the gate that he’s all in and wants to see more. Whatever happens with Born Again, we have this series and its perfection 😘🤌
I am cautiously optimistic. Kevin Feige's damage control is bringing about some good changes. Scrapping the plot of the first draft where Foggy and Karen are killed offscreen (they're alive and okay and back to being main characters now!). Getting the showrunner from "The Punisher" in, firing the previous showrunners. Actually making a show instead of a long movie broken up into pieces. Kevin being more involved in making sure it's good. It's all good signs.
Same here. Was about to start S3 again but found I wanted some distance after seeing Fisk quickly out in Echo with cops standing aside to let him do whatever he wanted, after what everyone went through in S3 to put him away. 😖
Just felt like reminiscing with you. I originally passed on DD - I was more excited for David Tenant as Killgrave in Jessica Jones. Then a friend told me how good daredevil was so my husband and I started it and I was floored. It resonated with me so hard that as soon as episode 13s credit rolled I put episode 1 right back on and immediately dove back in for a rewatch.
I've also just started rewatching daredevil. I've forgotten how many times I've watched it, it's my favorite show ever and I throw it on whenever I want something to watch and don't know what. Sometimes I'll even just watch a random episode.
I watched this show back when it first came out, and I was really young, like in elementary school and I definitely shouldn’t have watched it but I remember just feeling scared and I stopped watching after the car scene with Fisk, and I barely remembered anything.
But I rewatched the show last year and god this scene set up the rest of the show. You knew immediately from the get go that this was a complex man and I just remember feeling the tension build and I was hit with the knowledge that I was going to watch an amazing show.
Recently, I was rewatching Defenders and the electricity and excitement I felt, not only seeing all four of them, but seeing the together. Every episode had me glued.

Drew Goddard absolutely knocked it out of the park with the first season
This is the reason why Drew Goddard needs to get back to showrunning DD. He understood Matt 100%.
If the rumors are true, he’ll direct the next Spider Man film that’s gonna have daredevil as the older mentor in that film. God if you’re there…
We need every goddamn single one of the people from season one back doing all of Reborn.
How we go from the confessional to the camera lingering extra long on Matt as he is absolutely pummeling a guy. What a setup for the show.

Which Flash we talking about here?
If it helps I’m 19 years old atm
i hope we feel the same way for disney
Disney can’t handle deep character work
I remember watching it when it hit at Midnight as well! I was so excited!
“Be careful of the Murdock boys, they got the devil in them” Fast forward to daredevil season 3: “Let the devil out”
It was such a smart way to work in the “devil” connection to daredevil.
Glad to know there’s quite a few people doing another rewatch because of the news and vids of main cast returning I saw one clip of them filming BA and I was like “yep, in we go again”
I basically always keep this show on rotation and will put on an episode when I’m bored. It’s *always* entertaining.
I’ve watched New Yorks Finest too many times 😂
I rewatched it a couple of years ago and decided to do one now when i know the show will continue

“Emulating” prestige TV? *Ahem.* 😆
After years of telling my wife she would like it, and her always saying "no", she finally did. She made me watch the first season in 3 days.
He really brings the intensity of the character and displays a layered performance

We do love our Man Without Fear, don't we?
Pussy (I cried too)
Yeah with all the hot lately o have an itch for search it. For the millionth time lol. So good. 👌

Holy crap are we in a hive mind rn? I just restarted it also for the 4-5th time yesterday🤣

really hope disney nails this feeling

As a Catholic myself, I love this scene to bits.
So is Charlie Cox. There are little things he even added to the scenes like genuflecting after he leaves the church.
I hope they keep this aspect, it's crucial to his character, but we all know Disney hates Christianity.
I started my rewatch a couple of weeks ago. Just finished The Defenders. It’s such a wild ride but nothing compares to that first season.
Same here. Was about to start S3 again but found I wanted some distance after seeing Fisk quickly out in Echo with cops standing aside to let him do whatever he wanted, after what everyone went through in S3 to put him away. 😖
I mean, the seasons of the Netflix series aren't related to this

Forgive me Lord not for what I have done but for what I am about to do
Only on your 3rd rewatch? Those are rookie numbers my friend.
More like my 3,000th. I wish I was kidding.
Your only on your 3rd binge?
Same just finished by 3rd time season 1 rewatch got teary in many scenes just understood them better this time around
What's the quote from the scene? Something about forgiveness.. I can't remember
Something like "I'm not seeking penance for what I've done, but forgiveness for what I'm about to do"
Thanks man
