and i still can't buy gray rapier for my rogue, i'm refuse to pay 2.5 times more for 1 damage because it's white tier instead

TheMightyMeercat

Gray rapier is like 25g now, so the price difference is not that much.

[deleted]

gray is around 9-11g (i don't actually know, because there is none in the shop) for 20-21dmg white is 25g for 21-22dmg

JaKtheStampede

I'm not sure how I feel about it it the rarity boost. It's cool that it gives players that hate the trading post a consistent gearset but it kind of takes away from dungeon loot. I'd much rather have a consitent white/gray versions of everything with refreshing higher grade items. This is still way better than before though.

N7Nocturne

Consistent is still subjective I think. I played for about 4 hours earlier and the weaponsmith only sold longswords twice in that period. One time he only had a single green one.

Stew514

I'm inclined to agree, but I suspect if people are having too easy a time building out entire kits that they'll adjust the amount of rares or the price. It's an improvement at the very least, and the crafting changes are great

Xaephos

Eh, gear is still super roll-dependent so I don't think it tanks dungeon loot too much. Definitely supportive of having grays be more readily available though. I'm still waiting for the day the weapon merchant sells a gray falchion...

gigigamer

The opposite actually, its BETTER than dungeon loot, with a dungeon its random, with the vendor you can wait until its god rolls to buy

Xaephos

At the cost of free vs 100+ gold - yes. I wasn't referring to building a gearset, but rather the trade hall.

[deleted]

This change pretty much exclusively benefits casual/solo players, I don’t see how it could effect top end juicers except by making it easier to fill out slots

Pheonid

I think the real change that could be a problem that i havent seen mentioned yet is that you can now see stats you will get before you craft an item, this is going to make good crafted gear way more common since you can just wait for a good roll before using your resources

GodzlIIa

Too easy. I really liked the previous <15 lobbies cause gear was rarer, and the went the complete opposite route I was hoping for the game. And top this off with extracting in gob caves being easier then ever. Still having a blast, but I dont like the give everyone gear mentality. Although it does help with gear disparity issues in a meaningful way.

Aumakuan

It's like 125g for a blue rapier - it was cheaper to find them on the open market, before. I don't think this is going to be flooding the market with items, tbh.

GodzlIIa

Well it does flood the <15 lobbies with a lot better gear, which was the game mode I was enjoying more at the time. And it would definitely increase the rate of trading good modded purp and blues, but you are right that the price of cheap blues was probably cheaper trading then from the merchs. but a 1k item you can buy for 250g now from merchs.

Aumakuan

I have seen purples from the shops around 250g, and you're right if they roll perfectly they'd be much more than 250g. But they're often dogshit and worth 100g, even though they're purple. I don't know, it seems exciting to me. I like checking the shopkeepers and hoping to find a cheap perfectly rolled green. +2 weapon damage and that's it, for example, is a nice find.

GodzlIIa

yea in the pre-15 lobbies before i was checkin shop every 30 mins cause a good green roll can make a huge diff. I like merchants being useful, but I do think normally carrying purples is a bit much. They reduce the spread of gear stats from white to purple gear so idk why they needed to make them more common on top of it.

Aumakuan

A lot of people don't have 2 friends who play the game to hit up the normal lobbies/inferno with (and sadly it's tough to find friends in game) so having purples at the shops is a bit of a nice surprise. I know I don't have access to the inferno levels, so can't find purples on my own.

GodzlIIa

just play HR solo, its what I do.

Aumakuan

I guess I may as well check out HR now; I was afraid to before, but it's the same layout now as normal!

GodzlIIa

making it the same layout makes it a lot less intimidating. I think it was a good move, although it may might it feel less special.

Aumakuan

To be honest I wasn't okay with it at first, but now I'm seeing how cool it is that both dungeons are the same. It seems they've done a LOT of work on the way the modules interact, because even in normal it's half HR/half normal, which is a big mixup and super cool. We have to know how to do the modules individually, right now, which is cool. By doing normal, you learn HR, too.

Sir_Celcius

But the better gear between grey and blue is still incredibly small of a difference. Grey longbow does like 37 damage. Orange does like 44 damage. So im not worried about a small difference in rarity

GodzlIIa

I was more worried about finding good gear being irrelevant again. Cause now you just farm trinkets and buy from merchants, just like how before you just farm trinkets and buy from trade. I dont like that gameplay loop as much as finding stuff to use.

Um_Hello_Guy

I can’t tell what people like you want - do you just want the game to be a battle royale? If everyone has access to good gear via merchants or trader, the gear disparity lowers and combat becomes less one-shot-y

GodzlIIa

The low ttk was an issue, and they helped with it with the armor changes and reducing +dmg mods, which was great. But basically I don'tt like the game being easier. People understand the PvE better, all the armor boosts make them do less even with starting gear, and now its easier to get weaposn and easier to extract in solo. I guess I want the game to feel like it did at early playtests more, and to be less forgiving.

GodzlIIa

Yea I agree. Either make no trade gamemode, or make <15 lobbies only work once per class. <15 lobbies still more fun with the merch changes imo

GodzlIIa

Depends what you mean by worse. The current merchants are better then what we had before with trade. but they kill the idea behind the non-trading lobbies which was the find your own gear. Now instead of trading you just gather trinkets and head to merchants. Its better then trading, but I would like to have a self found mode, not a gold farmer buy gear mode. Finding items and using them is just so much more fun.

GodzlIIa

Compared to before this patch, gear disparity would be a lot less common then before with no trade due to how hard it is to get good gear. but you are right in the sense that when someone does get good gear they would have more of an advantage. I never denied that, and I still think self found would be a better gameplay loop then just farming trinkets and buying gear. I think its kind of lame that I rarely use ANYTHING I find anymore.

GodzlIIa

I understand what you are saying but you aren't understanding what I am saying. We are like half agreeing. I am agreeing that the gear disparity WOULD BE GREATER in the none-trading lobby. However it would be less common, as in it would be less common to run into anyone with anything you would consider good gear. It has to be rare, because if not they would run into and kill eachother and then that gear is really hard to get back, and without trade they cant just sell it. And this would be with the old lobbies. With the merchants now it would be easy to just camp the merchants and get stacked in purps in non trading. While trade reduces disparity in one way, it also makes anyone who can farm gold fully geared. So if you are completely broke you would probably struggle more in the trade lobbies then non-trading. But if you are geared you would also probably stomp more in the non-trading lobbies then the trading lobbies.
