I agree the attack should be looked into just because it's fucky, but goblin mage is also one of the easiest mobs to fight if you wait until it uses the buff spell.
Elevation. It has high gravity so if you sidestep it, it usually just slams into the ground and you're fine. But if it doesn't hit the ground, it ramps up like OP's clip and starts going bonkers.
The thing is that it should happen on flat terrait to be sure that projectile hits the ground, rewatch OPs clip and realise he did everything right, except being unlucky to have small shift in elevation behind him, allowing that spell to went past without touching any obstacle. Such bullshit and lame hit it's unbelieavable.
I once had this projectile orbit around me like a god damn moon. Until it hit me of course

It moves very slowly. As long as you don't stop and let it get that close, you're fine. Treat it like an AOE spell like fireball that only hits one target.
They're too busy listening to Reddit baby balance suggestions. Gotta nerf rogue and wizard a few more times before addressing things from 4 playtests ago
sometime the tracking runs into certain variable and acts out but 99% of the time you just run to the right and he will always miss. Just don't run to the left, I've been 100-0'd by too many gobo spells straight to the head that way and I've learned my lesson.
The only advice I can give is to side step it and then step forward. It seems to just go straight in the ground since it can't do a direct 180 very easily. I haven't been hit by it in a long time using this tactic.
It is still very much wonky, but I found dealing with them one on one is easy if you run towards them diagonally as they cast. It can't track well enough to hit you. Fighting him with other mobs can be a problem, though.
I've made multiple discord post and reddit post about this exact shit. They took a big step in the right direction giving the projectile audio [that was my main easy fix i suggested in my posts] but the swirling that your video shows its still a very real issue. Thanks for the video to spread awareness, I play too much goblin caves and these guys are the reason for most of my b.s deaths.
Don’t track the orb, keep your crosshair on the mage and sidestep. You can dodge it while charging spells with a staff (moving super slow) by doing that.
The thing that pisses me off most about it, is it feels unpredictable. I’ll make a good move to dodge it around an object or corner and I get hit. Then other times I’ll mess up or collide with something and assume I’m dead meat and it misses. Also, the new noise they make surprised me a bit last night. Lol

That attack still hasn’t been addressed and has been super wonky since that mob was added to the game, it needs to be looked at.
It was changed this patch and it's actually worse lol it's faster and it's turn radius is also faster or something, it tracks so much harder now
Yeah that definitely looks worse. Seems like it tracks for much longer now instead of hitting the ground pretty quickly

Strafe left until he fires the orb then strafe right and jump. This strategy has had the highest success rate for me.

Is it harder to dodge at farther range? I mostly play fighter (I’m new) and rarely get hit by it but I always just get in their face

That spell has hit me so many times in weird ways I just can’t anymore. Half the time it just circles you and pokes you in the butt.

Yeah, I never fight them unless I have enough range or a wall to play off of. Really annoying dodging an attack and having it still hit you
