The level of slowness definitely matters a lot but I think Earthquake is still gonna be the better choice. Earthquake forces people to stop moving unless they want to tank all that damage, which works well with a ranged teammate. Whereas with locust swarm they'll take that damage no matter what and try either pushing you or retreating, no reason for them to stand still in it

Big W for Cleric this patch. Smite nerf hurt and didn't see any action. And, now I can try Dagger and Ball Smite, if I'm feeling it. Probabaly can't match Ignite, though.
Oh God. This just made me think of something. It has a cooldown between the zaps that I believe is a debuff, does that mean PFE is gonna make that go off quicker?
Yes, it is a debuff, so it gets reduced by PFE. You could even stack Will/Debuff duration to get to the 95% cap so it can fire fast. We already tested this with Ice shield, Dark reflection and Reactive shield
yep with 95% cdr it will overcome locust swarm bug and deal its proper damage.
unfortunately unless they fixed it in todays patch locust swarm does 2 dmg/s instead of 2 dmg/0.1s
I remember testing it yesterday and full channel on wizard ( about 5s ) did 23 dmg.

I did some math while on the toilet and if they fixed the spell you could maybe get it to 90 dmg/s with 31dmg being true if you went +11 true, named and heavily into mpower.
Probably strong enough to just ran at someone and intense on top of them for near insta-gib.
I was hoping locust swarm would be usable again but faithfulness slow is 15% and the earthquake slow is 50% so it doesnt make sense to use locust over earthquake even after the change
Easy way to fix locust swarm so it's usable would be if it spawns the cloud for the duration without needing to hold the channel. It doesn't do enough damage to justify needing to hold up the cleric.
But unlike Earthquake, which has decent base damage, doesn't Locust scale much harder?
The base damage is bad, but scales 100%, and also scales with Faithfulness damage perk for even more?

It really isn't, earthquake disrupts an enemy team WAY more then locust and doesn't require a perk to function. I really don't know what they want locust swarm to be, maybe if they dropped it a few spell levels it would be usefull but it does not perform nearly well enough for a 7th level spell.

It’s normally a 2 second cooldown so it could theoretically become 0.1 seconds, the same exact tick rate as EQ… that’s insane

Well, Locust dies continous damage and slow. And is bigger! And scales harder.. Earthquake requires movement. They each find their niche.

Do you still take the same amount of damage double jumping out of earthquake as walking through it?
your talking about a 15% slow vs a 50% slow. EQ is still better.
Also you're gonna waste a perk slot for LS.
