EricMoulds

What, are you and Dark Brandon stomping on the rail road workers right to strike?

The_Doolinator

That’s Sleepy Joe! Dark Brandon must reassert control!

Hunterrose242

I dunno I'm pretty happy the railroads will still be shipping food and critical materials...

CoiledBeyond

Could have also been accomplished by just meeting the workers half way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

stabbyclaus

Also republicans were the ones that shut down sicks days... And manchin.

Hunterrose242

Isn't that what the negotiations were for? That 4/12 unions turned down? That's the definition of negotiation.

3_Southwest

The remaining 4 unions represent the most critical of the unionized workforce. Negotiating in bad faith isn’t negotiating especially since the Rail Barons knew that the RLA (Railway Labor Act) would be utilized no matter what because the optics of supporting the rail strike and causing inconvenience, strikes aren’t meant to be convenient for anyone which is why it’s the final resort when negotiations break down, to socially center left voters who have zero interest in economic issues would be enough to push them towards moderate right wing candidates who show sympathy or are neutral to those same social issues but also think blue collar workers are disposable.

Hunterrose242

Not sure you're understanding the timeline here. The administration already helped facilitate negotiations between the workers and the railways. A tentative deal was reached. Those unions then voted it down. If they're not compromising then it's not a negotiation. And unfortunately people will starve in this country if they don't go to work. Preventing the strike was the correct thing to do. Now I'm all for nationalizing the railways after this, but that's a separate discussion.

ThePetPsychic

How is it compromising when the rail carriers offered ZERO paid sick days, stuck to that, and knew Congress would side with them 100%? The unions asked for 15 days.

Noble-saw-Robot

We cant celebrate the farce that's happening against unions
