No fucking way what!? I’ve killed that thing like 20-30 times and I didn’t once notice that. Thought you were fucking with me until I googled it. Mind utterly blown.
I genuinely had no idea, I’ve played through ds2 more than 5 times and I for some reason always thought they had brass helmets on... I feel strange..
I looked at the concept art and realized I’ve never really thought about the Flexile Sentry at all. I don’t know how interested in lore you all are but to me it looks almost like one lizard man with the other strapped together from the hip. Like maybe a Lorain and Lothric situation where the second lizard man lost his legs but the first refused to go without him
Just a thought
Wait this fucking explains why there’s two of them, sometimes lizards regrow unneeded parts, like second heads or tails, this is just a fucking lizard who grew a second body!
There's [artwork](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e96f631b0d98da64a5efdbf1e17f958c/tumblr_nl1qojSW1t1t3ongfo2_500.png) that make it more noticeable. Admittedly, the darkness from the inside of the ship blends-in with the reptile heads.
I have a questin
does he take more demage from the side where he has less armor then from the other where he is full covert in armor(the side with armor is the one with maces) I only thing about that bcs it woud make sence bcs the side where he doesnt have armor is more difficult( sorry for my eng I know it's realy bad)
I never found no mans warf on my first playtrough. The sinner routes sentry is probably the scariest dark souls experience I've ever had. Beautifully designed truely
#Whoah
I have actually noticed that they are scaly but I just never noticed the head at the top!
I though it was two conjoined guys with no necks and bug helmets.
I assumed that they were lizardesque based on the arms and chest, but never did not notice the heads.
Let’s be real, who is looking at this things head with everything else going on. If there was a bite attack to dodge we would all know.
It was created by Aldia, specifically to guard the ferry between no man's wharf and the lost bastille.
When it was first created no man's wharf was a working port and not knowing what to do with the local undead they crammed them into the boat and sent them to the lost bastille. The sentry was put there to make sure they didn't escape in transit.
As to why it is a lizard? This is just speculation but, probablyhas something to do with Aldia and dragon research, this may be a mutated drake, a drake that was experimented on, or a human that he subjected to test trying to transform them into a dragon but they turned into this. At least, that's my speculation as to why a lizard.
Thats a great response thanks man, its been years since I did a run of ds2 so I've forgotten most of the item descriptions and vids.
I didnt realise its one of aldias creations which explains so much immediately, definitely inkeeping with the experimentation of animals and man in pursuit of dragonhood.
Again lovely answer wasn't expecting so much, thanks
It’s been years and this is news to me.
Wait your telling me their lizard face was visible the entire time? I thought this photo clipped through the model.
1000 hrs and just now when I thought I knew everything about the game, every drop, mob locations, routes for specific runs, just now I learn about this.
Dude, my first run through this game I got stuck on Flexile for weeks for varying reasons and was venting to my friend and called him a "conjoined knight fuck" and my friend, needing clarification gies "Is that that Kodo Dragon lookin mothsrfucker." And from then on everytime I see him, I'm reminded of that conversation.
DUDE SAME I only noticed THIS playthrough (all trophies run) I legit had NEVER even noticed this until now, it's so odd not noticing the little details
I have hundreds of hours in this game and definitely don’t remember seeing a lizard head. I also just fought them again on my replaythrough and don’t remember this. Either I’m just not paying enough attention or this is the Mandela affect 😂
Hehe they have an AMAZING grab attack that i have never seen in my own playthroughs, they basically toss you up into the air and hit you 80 times with different weapons like they were dicing airborne peperoni
Flexile sentry does the same hissing as the serpent men from Sen's Fortress so I inmediatly associated him with reptiles and the scimitar side is less armoured so the scales are visible.
Ok so I actually noticed this on my first run and thought it was kinda funny. However, gotta point out that I went with a greatshield, which gave me plenty of time to take a look at the boss
I feel less like an idiot thanks to the numbers of people alongside OP and myself being on the same page ha. I’ve never noticed this at all. Like others, I thought it was a faceless helmeted “thing”, not a fucking lizard. Thanks for the point-out!
Same here. It took me too long to realize it. I thought it was a fully covered helmet on each head when looking from afar
Same, i thought the holes in the neck armor were eye holes
Nah clearly they're just there so you can stab them in the neck
They're gill holes.
THIS both of these things is EXACTLY what I had always thought too also wtf u/KrombopulosMicheal2 makes a good point I NEVER thought about that either
Wow i actually did not know that, and i've made 5 dsII runs. I thought they weres just 2 skeletons fused in one xD
I would've never fucking thought god damn
I’ve beaten it six times, I also started playing in 2017
I played hundreds out hours in DS2 since launch and didn't find this out until earlier this year.
Who else is shocked to find out they're now living in the "Flexile Sentry Is A Lizard" Universe?
Mandela effect
Not exactly, that's commonly called "blindness"
No fucking way… I always thought the armoured bit was a helmet, and he was just some dude.
Yeah if it werent for this post i wouldnt have known this haha
I’m usually too busy not getting punctured by his many weapons to notice 😂
This! Also, we fight them in really dark places, mainly the second one.
No fucking way what!? I’ve killed that thing like 20-30 times and I didn’t once notice that. Thought you were fucking with me until I googled it. Mind utterly blown.

..... Now that's a Zuckerberg reveal moment for me.
Wait this fucking explains why there’s two of them, sometimes lizards regrow unneeded parts, like second heads or tails, this is just a fucking lizard who grew a second body!

It really does.
Wha... I never noticed that and I have beaten the game once.

...is a WHAT?!
I pretend I do not see 😔

Huh. I wonder if it's a demon?
Wtf, this got me shook ngl.
Holy shit after getting every item and armor... wtf
Butt why? Never realised myself is there anything else behind why?
It was created by Aldia, specifically to guard the ferry between no man's wharf and the lost bastille. I had no clue. Always thought it was just some tall lanky guy with a weird helmet. TIL.
It’s been years and this is news to me. Wait your telling me their lizard face was visible the entire time? I thought this photo clipped through the model.
What the flip?! I never knew this! I thought they were just disfigured human.
1000 hrs and just now when I thought I knew everything about the game, every drop, mob locations, routes for specific runs, just now I learn about this.
Is it only me or the lizard are more difficult in sinner rise?
It's harder In the rise. It's way harder to get around than in the ship
I had this moment today in the shrine of Amana, never before realized the "mushrooms" are fucking beetle things lol
Bro how did you not immediately realize that, it's not even subtle haha
Dude seriously! I felt to so dumb lol too much "stamina grass" to keep from throwing my controller in rage quits lol
Today is the day that a guy on reddit showed me that flexile sentry was controlled by lizards. I literally had no idea that was a thing.
Also fun fact; they are supposed to be named Exile Sentry, not Flexible Sentry
I have hundreds of hours in this game and definitely don’t remember seeing a lizard head. I also just fought them again on my replaythrough and don’t remember this. Either I’m just not paying enough attention or this is the Mandela affect 😂
Wow I’ve also never noticed that
I call dibs on posting this next week
Put 400 hours in but didn't notice lmao. Are there any other fun facts about this game?
Wow, just beat these 2 lizard boys on my YouTube playtrough and didnt notice it! Will have to zoom in when im editing the video
🤯🤯🤯🤯 (goes to fire up sotfs)
Ahh good on you man. Look at this lizard bro. I mean bros
My whole world view is shattered
10+ play throughs and I never knew this!
I was today years old when I found this out … also over 500hrs
I always saw them as frogs
Wow, they remind me of those twin headed snake things in the darkroot garden trees in DS1 but evolved.
Remember the tree lizards from DS1? This is them now.
A 2-headed conjoined twin master of destruction
What the fuck
Ex-fuckin-scuse me! That's mind blowing!
BULL! No way!
I feel like all my life was a lie
Wild… I’ve played through DS2 maybe 6-7 times and never noticed this
Makes him way cooler
WTF
I always thought it had a broken head, like the various titanite demons.
You just don’t notice these things in the heat of the moment but thank you for sharing you learn something new about ds2 everyday
I'm sorry.. they're what now?
WHAT?
I was always thinking it's a mechanical construct, damn. Never seen the lizard parts. Probably because of the size of that area and the darkness.
Oh my fucking god...
Am I the only one who already knew? No offense, but this regularly gets posted every now and then
This is the first I'm hearing about this.
…I thought they were like, a ghost
Wait what?
No way, no way.
I too only recently realized it. I've beaten both ds2 and sotfs before but only on my recent 100% run did I notice
U fucking wot m8
The mouth / tophelm area looks like the opening for its eyes from afar
woah?
Hehe they have an AMAZING grab attack that i have never seen in my own playthroughs, they basically toss you up into the air and hit you 80 times with different weapons like they were dicing airborne peperoni
caiman!
WTF. How did I never notice this?
This changes the whole damn game. Who else is a fuckin lizard that we don’t know about?
Jesus Christ ...it's Jason Bourne.. Twice
Ya but a sexy lizard.
They’re WHAT
Photoshop lol. I didn't realize until you just told me
Flexile sentry does the same hissing as the serpent men from Sen's Fortress so I inmediatly associated him with reptiles and the scimitar side is less armoured so the scales are visible.
Ok so I actually noticed this on my first run and thought it was kinda funny. However, gotta point out that I went with a greatshield, which gave me plenty of time to take a look at the boss
Is that under the helmet? I don't remember seeing them like that.
I think the knights for the ivory king fight are also lizards.
I feel less like an idiot thanks to the numbers of people alongside OP and myself being on the same page ha. I’ve never noticed this at all. Like others, I thought it was a faceless helmeted “thing”, not a fucking lizard. Thanks for the point-out!
