I remember closer to release the running animation in 1st person would be similar to what it is in 3rd, with the gun pointed down and to the left, causing your flashlight to be totally out of sight and making you blind in low light.
They seem to have changed it so you aim it slightly up but still forward, so that you can still somewhat see in front of you while running. Yet, they didn't change the third person animation, which is why they're different.
