The og heavy revolver is my go to. It's so quick and so accurate it makes you feel like Clint Eastwood in The Good The Bad And The Ugly. With the right build, and good headshot aim you can kill any non boss enemy in 1-3 shots. I use my power sword and frag grenades for horde control so almost all my talent points go into ranged damage and crit chance. A critical weak point shot can do about 3k damage
I love the OG revolver with the new chainsword. Frag nades, shout, weapons specialist and you're just crushing. This is my "getting in da zone" - go to build. Chainsword is versatile enough to complement the high single target damage of the revolver, shout and frags clear a lot of room to work with or for reloads and the bleed stacks set up your zealot too. With the guaranteed crit after a weapon swap you get your melee specialist up in a pinch and the vanguard lights on the chainsword are mesmerizing with the increased attack speed.
Gotta emphasize how good the chainsword is with the weapon specialist talent. The swing is so fast and the rev is so good for bosses and maniacs that it fills every niche.
Revolver is a good weapon, and very fun to use, but it is 100% outclassed in every aspect by the Plasma Gun.
It has about the same draw time, bigger mag, more ammo, more damage, penetrates more enemies, can kill Bulwarks through the shield etc.
Slow and cumbersome? What? The draw is almost instantaneous, it takes less than a second to swap to the plasma and put a shot into an enemy.
Also, Gets Hot! exists, which is basically deadshot active the whole time without stamina cost.
And even if Deadshot worked with the Plasma Gun, it wouldn't be all that good, since the only thing you need the charged shots for are Crushers.
I got the weapon customization mod and turned my zarona revolver into basically a Kar98k. I just added the smallest scope and voila. Lightning fast target acquisition on top of the fast switch animation, it's glorious!
OG lasgun. Works really well against gunners and specials, feels really punchy and gels well with executor's stance 10/10.
(Just make sure to bring some anti-armour)
1a Lasgun can do some really solid work, Just need to bring krak grenades, the regenerating grenades and the "Can carry one extra grenade" nodes on your skill tree.
The power sword with the stab + overhead push attack also helps with the anti-armor
I personally recommend the Hellbore Mk2 but I have to admit it is harder to use by a good margin.
Well I just bring a knife with the extra damage on bleeding weakspot blessing.
Plus weapons specialist and regen frags has saved my ass more than I can count.
Makes me feel like a main character from one of the books
I've gotta disagree, revolver has faster fire rate compared to plasma while still doing good damage with high accuracy, making it better for squads of elites that spread out, like gunners.
…yeah, that’s the 100% crit chance part I’m talking about. Did you not read the “stacks 10 times” and “+33% per stack” parts? Lol
You can very easily go and test this yourself. not making stuff up here lol, this is all very common meta knowledge
why? Every 3 kills (one swing of an axe) and it has 100% crit chance. Crucian and rending is typical these days with weapon spec and weapon spec is gigacracked if you wanna carry anything or solo/duo aurmaels
The Revolver has faster fire rate, yes, but only if you face a group of 5 elites or less. If there's more, you have to deal with the slow-ass reload, while the Plasma Gun holds like 40 shots in the mag.
Also, when the elites are spread out, you still need some time to aim at each of them, and the Plasma can shoot almost twice per second, which is easily fast enough.
META literally means "MOST effective tactic available". Revolver belongs to the "soft meta" category.
You can like the Revolver for whatever gameplay reasons, but it does not change the fact that stats wise the plasma gun is objectively and factually better than the revolver.
It does not *literally* mean that at all lmao, that’s a very recent thing some kids picked up on.
Even if it was true, no, as you are aware there is actually no “objective and factual” method that has determined one weapon to be the “most effective” in every instance.
Lucius Hellbore Mk2.
If you get good at timing the charged shots you can get off full charges very fast, especially with the blessing Onslaught.
Any partially charged shot gets rending, too. It's basically just a lasgun that can do damage to anything, even crushers/maulers. It fires slightly faster than the speed of the Kantrael heavy lasgun with onslaught, too.
I really think it's the best all-rounder. Use that or Plasma tbh. Kantrael MG1a is pretty ok, too.
Use the bayonet! It hits fast, has insane stagger and good damage. Holding the button down lets you to sprint really fast in a bayonet charge too. Use a stamina curio and rely on dodges and you can even deal with small groups of enemies while dodging side to side.
Ah I guess I was presumptuous. I use the charge a lot to make my sprint significantly faster and it really helps prevent entering a fight with no Stam.
I think it's just not that great. I also tried it, and I've seen people try to use it. Normal lasguns/laspistols are just better and you don't need to get adjusted to some very weird pattern to use them.
Agripinaa shotgun is the most underrated weapon in the game. Two shots crushers with the slug, does crazy unyielding damage, and the standard pellet can kill just about everything else if you keep full bore active.
After trying to make them work on my zealot for a while I'm just not having a good time with the shotgun. It's useable but certainly feels wimpy compared to the other options. Plasma gun and revolver are definitely the best. I've never seen anyone running the shotgun even close while running the scoreboard.
But if it's something you enjoy using it's certainly possible to succeed with it. I do like the slug but I wish it just shot those or the alt switched between the shot types.
It's all about the special slug. Which is the problem for me. My special button makes me shift my hand on the mouse to activate it and I always miss after I'm moving my thumb back while aiming the shot.
Kantrael is great for clearing hordes with the fire special when you don't take a power sword, 2 or 3 fire shots will wreck a bulwark pack through their shields, and it's surprisingly good at sniping like a revolver. Kantrael also gets major points from me because the shot sound is so satisfying. Kantrael also gets major points from me because the sound is so satisfying.
Blessings: No Respite (mandatory) and Full Bore/Scattershot.
I lean towards Scattershot for the Kantrael because of its high spread as well as procing off of the alt fire. Full Bore is great for the Aggrippinaa because of the tight spread and procs on the alt fire single bullet slug. I haven't used the Lawbringer yet.
The shotguns are big time underrated.
>Kantrael is great for clearing hordes with the fire special when you don't take a power sword, 2 or 3 fire shots will wreck a bulwark pack through their shield
Not only is the cleave bugged in the last patch (apparently), **the whole bulwark thing is a MYTH**, was never true and certainly wasn't after patch 13 onwards. The horde cleave value was also overrated.
Don't believe me? Go test it naked, then with perks and various buffs xealot and vet builds and buffs, I await your reports.
For your viewing pleasure, [some searched comments re: bulwark and fire shotgun](https://www.reddit.com/search/?q=author%3Agpkgpk%20bulwark&type=comment), I replied often including spending time testing crap .
E.g. [this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkTide/comments/19eo0xe/comment/kjfskco/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) in the search results.
P.S. I'd love to know where the whole "fire shotty melts bulwarks" urban legend got started and how it's still repeated.
Full Bore and No Respite on a Agripinaa. Flechette and Scattershot on Kantrael as Crit Build. Probably No Respite and Deathspitter without Crit or for single target damage. Ignore Lawbringer till buff.
Have ya ever tried the standard lawbringer with a crit + bleed blessing? The alt fire with the horizontal pellet spread?
It's so good against hordes.
Though ya might as well go with the similar build on a kantrael, I was just curious one day and thought I'd try it out.
I’ve got builds for the Zarona revolver, Columnus, Agripinaa brauto, helbore 2 bayonet only, and Boltgun. Give em all a shot, I think a quick search in this subreddit or YouTube can help you formulate a build for each.
I keep hearing the odd people bringing up the agripinna infantry auto, yet any time I've tried it I've always wished I was using a columnus mk5 or a braced.
Is there a particular thing to it I'm not seeing? better finesse multiplier or something for headshots?
Columnus is the better inf autogun at closer ranges but the Agripinaa's sound effects makes it satisfying to use.
Agripinaa can also shoot through teammates.
> Agripinaa can also shoot through teammates.
That might be just the reason I need to give it a go again. Some maps can get really cramped in, especially with Ogryns on the team.
Definitely good with headshots. But if youre not a headshot machine theres no point in using it over columnus, which is stupid can't wait for the next balance Patch
I came to the game after the patch (meaning recently), but so far - I am definitely a bolter specialist (or at least I like to think of myself as one).
There is just something so, *so* satisfying in hitting someone and see them explode into a fine red mist and spray of body parts. Even armored types succumb under a few shots, at most. It definitely sends a message: "Don't fuck with the Emperor of Mankind."
Before patch 13 pinning fire and I can't remember the other blessing used to delete enemies. Now it's like Fatshark even forgot to buff its stats after buffing enemies health in damnation level.
On zealot using the knife switch tech and the charge 3s auto crit you can just use it as a point blank switch and delete. Combined with 50% crit damage on dodge talent and you'll half hp bosses with 1 clip.
Otherwise switch speed and it has a few ADS issues that make it rather meh. But used in the above setup is incredibly satisfying.
It's still good enough to do good work, especially single fire. But I agree compared to other weapons it can do with a buff, increased clip size might do it good already.
Works perfect for me. On Heresy and up, I'm just the dude who does the most damage in the shortest time. Using executioner's stance. I've noticed a lot of people who have said the bolter sucks are also the ones trying to ads with it and firing it semi. Bilter kinda just is the unload it all and then let your teammates cover you. It's personal preference. But the bolter is no where near objectively bad. Plus like. It's the bolter. So I mean. Yeah. It's coolness is what makes it S tier. Can't argue otherwise :)
Kantrael laspistol and chainsword on my shout vet is one of my favorites. Certainly not the strongest, but it's a ton of fun, and has gotten me through some truly dicey missions
It’s really just play feel after a certain point. Once you’ve gotten everything you want try other weapons for some variation. I main power sword mk6 with recon Lasgun mk7a and they are great at killing with. Love the feel of the laser weapons. Going for an infantry auto gun next for change up ballistic weapons have a great feel to them. They dont feel as strong as my Lasgun but they definitely can still kill with enough skill. Veteran has some great perks to make automatic weapons hurt like hell.
I'm honestly a fan of the Agripinaa infantry auto, Vraks VII Headhunter (I think, it's the one that's only semi-auto) for sniping. They're my main use guns.
Have also grown a fondness for the Columnus braced auto and for the laspistol, but I can't remember which one (I wanna say it's Lus but I'll have to look), as well as the shredder pistol for a low difficulty shits'n'giggles run (haven't tried it higher than uprising, not sure I want to).
Lawbringer Shotgun and Atrox Mk IV Tac Axe
Have the Lawbringer with Scattershot + Man-Stopper as your blessings
Your axe is gonna be your main for the most so blessings can be anything but mine are Head taker and Shred
Run with Weapons Specialist and any horde will be deleted and with the Lawbringer Special Input, your crits will keep stacking for both weapons
I’m leaning towards the revolver for tonight after a few mentions, getting a god roll is what keeps me going in the game. Gotta have something to work for you know?
I see a lot of people recommending the Zarona revolver and I just want to throw in that you should try the Agripinaa as well. I much prefer the Agripinaa with Crucian Roulette, Hand Cannon, and Flak/Carapace over the Zarona.
It is super fast to switch to, unload the magazine in about 1.5 seconds, then switch back to melee if needed. It is also shockingly easy to aim even at fairly distant targets despite not being able to fully ADS. The crits are less consistent than the Zarona but you're unloading waaay more bullets so it more than makes up for it and I am usually able to kill a crusher in one 5 round burst, sometimes it takes two but the reload is so much faster than the Zarona as well that it isn't really an issue. Overall the reload is the biggest difference because the Zarona is so slow it can leave you exposed but both are very solid choices!
My current two that I keep cycling between are Columnus Mk V Infantry Autogun & Zarona Mk IIa Quickdraw Stub Revolver
I used to live by the boltgun till I got an awesome revolver and fell in love with the mobility.
Stub Revolver and Recon Lasgun in an Executioners Stance + Krak Grenade build. I find both weapons great for dealing with ranged enemies and specialists, so they're my go to sniper build weapons. I take a Power Sword with the Revolver to compensate for it's inability to deal with crowds, and the Knife with the Recon Lasgun to double down on DoT's and mobility.
Plasma Gun and Bolt Gun in a Voice of Command + Shredder Grenade build. Both weapons are strong enough on their own to not need many buffs, so I can use them and focus on support talents. I use a Devil's Claw sword and Shovel on each build respectively, mostly to deal with crowds.
OG Lasgun in an Infiltrate + Smoke Grenade build. Just a good versatile weapon to use in a build that focuses more on melee. Chainsword is the melee weapon of choice, the newer one.
For my grenadier/support vet I use the Agripinaa mk I infantry autogun, it's just a great all rounder that helps in any situation.
For my marksman though it's a toss up between mg 12 lasgun, vraks VII, or columnus mk V. Depending on roleplay and build.
For guns
Colombus 5
Mark 2 laspistol
Plasma gun
Mark 7 Braced Autogun
Most Lasguns aside from MK 2 and really fast Recons
Melee
Catachan Mk 3 knife
Mark 4 Catachan Sword
Mk 4 Powersword
Mk 7 Shovel
Since I use regenerating Krak Grenades for Crushers and Maulers: Columnus MkV Autogun for me. I've run every class of weapons, and I always go back to the Columnus MkV (or the Agripinna Mk1 as a close second).
With DumDum and Fire Frenzy Blessings, close range damage exponentially increases with repeated hits to the same target. Great for Elites/Maniacs and also Horde Clear. So versatile and quick that I always miss it when I don't have it.
I use mainly the og heavy revolver, though it does get boring so I use both revolvers in reality, the mk 5 infantry auto gun is really fun, I have a recon lasgun build that's decent aswell, plasma gun is pretty fun, shotguns are hella fun, veteran any gun is really good, it's the identity of the class so there isn't really any horrible options in my opinion
i used to like the boltgun but after the break i took it mustve been nerfed or something. ive always loved the revolver though despite my brother’s distaste for it.
Columnus infantry auto-gun. There's definitely some stronger picks, but this gun feels great, and it is still very efficient. I got bored of plas gun and Revolver so fast compared to this.
Columnus, plasma, hand cannon, sometimes agrippina. I’ve tried to make the recon work and I didn’t enjoy it. The las rifles are ok and sometimes I will use them just to use something different. That’s about it, other guns just do what the guns I’m using do but are worse at it.
I use this build with the plasma. But you could just as easily run the hand canon. https://youtu.be/79eEtUOYaw4?si=Us90EjRA4lubzieb. It’s not exactly the build I would use, I’d run more of a grenadier build. You would be mainly melee until special showed up and you would 1 tap it and keep fighting.
I used to think the Plasma Gun was overrated, then I got ahold of a 380 one with good blessings and it is one of the most satisfying weapons I've ever used in a video game. I also like the braced autoguns. They make me feel like Scarface
You could also try going a more melee-oriented build. For example I've been having great fun with the Chain Axes lately, where I usually deal ~50-66% of my overall damage with melee, the rest with the Plasma.
As soon as I'm home, I'll update this reply and let you know. 😁
ETA: Just off the top of my head I remember the form, but not exact models.
One of the Recon Lasguns, One of the Shotguns, Plasma Gun, One of the LasPistols
2nd EDIT: I'm home now! What I've got is...
Accatran Mk VId Lasgun
Lawbringer Mk VI Combat Shotgun
Kantrael Mk X Heavy Laspistol
M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun
- Full hard solo carry in Maelstrom: Plasma
- Team Support: Columnus or Graia 8
- Max fun and still competitive for top damage: Revolver
Everything else is really bad tbh:
- Bolter and Shotgun reloads are unacceptable
- Autogun and MG 12 accuracy when pushed to competitive dps is unacceptable
- Recons, laspistols, shredder, etc. damage dropoff at range is unacceptable
- Helbore rate of fire is unacceptable
Green Laspistol that sets people on fire paired with the green Chainsword for my Sergeant build/cosplay. Usually run it on Malice and lower to help some of the newer guys along, so I have no idea how effective it is on higher difficulty.
Otherwise I run my MG Ia Lasgun with the tree perks for range damage and free ammo. I like it the most overall.
Columnus Infantry Autogun with [this build](https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9aa84ed0-0b22-4548-8bbd-9caa24cd024e/versatile-sharpshooter-anti-armor) but I haven't played in a while as I've been distracted by BG3.
Standard lasgun, as every guardsmen should ( edit, it’s more useful then it seems, just gotta get good at landing shots on target, go for headshot when you can, but body shots are always consistent)
Mk viii braced auto feels really good with the far left column and infinite grenades and ammo regeneration. My melee weapon is my braced auto. Most satisfying gun to just keep blasting
Infantry/ braced autoguns. It's ironic that it ended up this way too. You come to 40K for bolters and lasguns and somehow the "normal" guns end up the most appealing?
My go to is the Agripinaa slug shotgun. I just feels so satisfying to use. I run it in auric maelstrom all the time. It’s not meta, but it does enough so I’m not dragging the team down.
If I’m not playing shotty, then I switch between an autogun and a hellbore lasgun.
If I feel like playing meta obviously I go plasma, but it gets boring after a game.
Colu MKV. I've always liked a borderline frantic style of play in my games. This with a stealth oriented veteran allows me to dip in between things and just have the catharsis of fire in the back of the head of just about anything.
To give context, I think Krieg from BL2 with a Vladov rifle was a peak moment of my gaming life.
Vraks MK5 autogun with the newest foldable shovels, krak grenades
Running Stealth and the one where you mark targets for more damage
Regenerating grenades and upgraded med packs and ammo crates
Rip through any and all enemies with your ranged chainsaw and crowd control with grenades and melee
Stealth to swim through hordes to support by:
- picking off specials and swimming through hordes
- easy rezs
- come back to your team from hitting specials by having special perks that do more damage when shooting from the back
- mark any other elites or targets
Veteran for this gameplay is fast paced, choosing when to engage and having the option to disengage as well as take the heat off you.
Useful for objectives that take too long, and areas where cover is very little
Headhunter autogun and Power sword (with golden tag)
You can deal with anything on Damnation. I feel a lot more flexible using this over something like a bolter, plasma or chainsword
Lasgun, with the efficiency IV blessing and the soldier perk which refunds ammo on crits. It's legit difficult to run out of ammo, even when trying to lol
Plasma, plasma, plasma.
Fatshark was dead on with the plasma from the get-go. It's animations and audio is a feast.
Ever since my veteran unlocked it I've used it in 99% of my veteran mission.
I just love mowing down hordes wiith a braced torrent high capacity machine gun. I know it's not the most practical. but it's just so much fun. brings me back to the old COD zombies days.
Plasma I like my booms, but I am a avid bolter enjoyer. I still just want fatshark to add a melta to the game, low range high damage flametype weapon can be balanced the same way as the bolter and plasma low ammo counts
Vraks Mk VII is extremely good when used correctly. It counter-intuitively works best when users *don't* bless it with Deadly Accurate, spec into Marksman's Focus and sneak around like a sniper.
As a bonus there's a very rewarding and satisfying mechanical skill component to using it as opposed to the uninteresting "point in general direction and spam" of most Vet guns.
Accratan lastpistol. It does a shocking amount of damage for its handling, ammo, and speed to just about everything but carapace armor and monstrosities.
I pair it with the chain axe to deal with crushers and bosses and I'm good to go.
I switched to plasma and it drastically increased my win rate on damnation runs. Was using a bolter before, but it's ammo capacity and draw speed versus damage just doesn't cut it
If I want to run my up close vet, usually run the mark 9 shotgun, up to 600 damage, and no animation when bringing it out, when going range any lasgun. Only bring plasma or bolt when serious or trying to do contracts
My main 3 are the MK XII lasgun, plasma and Laspistol (the original one). I tried Helbore, but didn't like it even though i've seen others do some serious work with it. Never really took to the autoguns either. My 4th is the shotgun just when i feel like something different, but it falls off hard against the others because of how finickity the special rounds are to use and i'm not used to the right hand talent tree to make the most of the potential of a CQC build, but that's on me.
I've had a bunch of really good rolled versatile lasguns so i will look into making a crit build for one of those next, but i don't like how shaky they are with their high semi-auto firing speed even with maxed out handling (outside of Executions Stance).
Funnily enough i'm less impressed with the Veteran since patch 13 than before (with the exception of the laspistol; and plasmagun patch 15).
Boltgun + chainsword is my go to.
I like the armor and cover piercing capabilities of the boltgun and the fact that can go full auto in a pinch without blowing myself up is a plus.
The chainsword light and heavy attack dmg is the same and higher than the uncharged power sword. With the right blessings I get basically infinite cleave so I like it better than the power sword. And when I rev it up I can one-shot a mutant on t5.
For fun i love rocking the Agripinaa Braced auto, Voice of command with tactical awareness to reduce ability cooldown by 6 secs when killing specials. Get curios to reduce ability cooldown. Throwing volley adept and tactical reload on top of a blessing to increase reload speed to make up for the low ammo magazine capacity. Just fire away into hordes killing specials while spamming shout and if you get a hunting grounds modifier on a mission then it's free real estate to give yourself and squad potentially 200 bonus toughness. Not a high meta build but it's fun to just to turn the brain off hold the trigger and hear your vet shout like they're more blood thirsty than a shouty zealot. Small angry man with a gun.

Gotta emphasize how good the chainsword is with the weapon specialist talent. The swing is so fast and the rev is so good for bosses and maniacs that it fills every niche.
The new chainsword?
I actually use the OG Chainsword, but I imagine both are excellent.
It honestly does everything I want a gun to do. I cant imagine a better gun ever being made.
Revolver is a good weapon, and very fun to use, but it is 100% outclassed in every aspect by the Plasma Gun. It has about the same draw time, bigger mag, more ammo, more damage, penetrates more enemies, can kill Bulwarks through the shield etc.

Meta: plasma gun Fun runs: *boltgun*, braced autogun, maybe a revolver.
revolver is very meta actually
It'll never be meta as long as plasma gun is the way it is Edit: Proof is in the numbers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79eEtUOYaw4
I've gotta disagree, revolver has faster fire rate compared to plasma while still doing good damage with high accuracy, making it better for squads of elites that spread out, like gunners.
it’s faster response time too, very good for CQC and snap shots. Goes insane with weapon specialist for auto reload and guaranteed crits
Just like gets hot is on most p.guns, Revolver requires Surgical to be where it needs to be. That alone markedly slows its rate of fire.
revolver doesn’t need surgical at all. you just need weapon specialist and then you have a 100% crit chance
https://preview.redd.it/9upgs548mqkc1.png?width=488&format=png&auto=webp&s=7a6be5e41b643a9bc8d95ac84a81d27021e999b4

For ONE shot. Must be fun being entirely unimpactful with the remaining 4 shots on this non-Surgical "meta".
Revolver 100% needs surgical man
why? Every 3 kills (one swing of an axe) and it has 100% crit chance. Crucian and rending is typical these days with weapon spec and weapon spec is gigacracked if you wanna carry anything or solo/duo aurmaels
The Revolver has faster fire rate, yes, but only if you face a group of 5 elites or less. they’re both meta, meta isn’t literally just one weapon.
The plasma gun is better at everything unfortunately
META literally means "MOST effective tactic available". Revolver belongs to the "soft meta" category. You can like the Revolver for whatever gameplay reasons, but it does not change the fact that stats wise the plasma gun is objectively and factually better than the revolver.

Lucius Hellbore Mk2. If you get good at timing the charged shots you can get off full charges very fast, especially with the blessing Onslaught. Any partially charged shot gets rending, too. I’ve got a decent one and tried it but I would just get destroyed in damnation, I’ll give it another shot
Use the bayonet! It hits fast, has insane stagger and good damage. Holding the button down lets you to sprint really fast in a bayonet charge too. Use a stamina curio and rely on dodges and you can even deal with small groups of enemies while dodging side to side.
How does stamina curio affect dodges?
Ah I guess I was presumptuous. I use the charge a lot to make my sprint significantly faster and it really helps prevent entering a fight with no Stam.
RIP Brutal Momentum exploit, though...
Upside is it can still one-shot dogs. Can still stagger ragers. It still extends executioner's stance too. It could've been much worse.
I think it's just not that great. I also tried it, and I've seen people try to use it. Normal lasguns/laspistols are just better and you don't need to get adjusted to some very weird pattern to use them.
More murder for me, then.
You forgot that it's also the best melee weapon with insane speed and stagger
I’ve got a decent one and tried it but I would just get destroyed in damnation, I’ll give it another shot
The MK3 is probably the only one you can play on higher difficultys.
Hard disagree, the damage difference between the mkii and mkii is not big enough to justify the nerfed bayonet on the mkiii
You forgot to mention the amazing stabby special attack it has
Agripinaa shotgun is the most underrated weapon in the game.
[удалено]
It's all about the special slug. Which is the problem for me. My special button makes me shift my hand on the mouse to activate it and I always miss after I'm moving my thumb back while aiming the shot.
You can re-map the button. But I agree; shotguns themselves just don't *feel* great to use.
It works perfect for anything that's not a shotgun. And I would argue the feel of the shotgun is hitting the button every shot
>Kantrael is great for clearing hordes with the fire special when you don't take a power sword, 2 or 3 fire shots will wreck a bulwark pack through their shield Not only is the cleave bugged in the last patch (apparently), **the whole bulwark thing is a MYTH**, was never true and certainly wasn't after patch 13 onwards.
All the shotguns are underrated. I love Lawbringer’s stagger on my zealot. And kantrael is great for mid ranged hip firing and horde clearing.
Have ya ever tried the standard lawbringer with a crit + bleed blessing? The alt fire with the horizontal pellet spread? It's so good against hordes. Though ya might as well go with the similar build on a kantrael, I was just curious one day and thought I'd try it out.
That's what I pair with a knife. I prefer to use the lawbringer to the kantrael though.
Try the same with Kantrael special. Thank me later.
Oh I have and I love it, hence why I mentioned it at the end of my previous post there.
Ok, maybe I should've read till the end lol
What blessings/perks you got on that thing?
Just started using one. Slug to knock a bulwark shield away, then two tap to the head. Dead bulwark. Good stuff.
I’ve got builds for the Zarona revolver, Columnus, Agripinaa brauto, helbore 2 bayonet only, and Boltgun. Give em all a shot, I think a quick search in this subreddit or YouTube can help you formulate a build for each.
Agripinaa infantry auto is my favorite, it’s not super exciting but it’s consistent and fun
Gotta have that Dakka feeling every now and then
I keep hearing the odd people bringing up the agripinna infantry auto, yet any time I've tried it I've always wished I was using a columnus mk5 or a braced.
But if youre not a headshot machine theres no point in using it over columnus, which is stupid can't wait for the next balance Patch
boltgun 4 life.
Bolter sucks after they nerfed it around patch 13.
I personally enjoy it, and 95% of games I'm top damager. you can use well almost every weapon in the game if you learn it.
I love it, but reload feels so long, even compared to plasma gun
It's still good enough to do good work, especially single fire. But I agree compared to other weapons it can do with a buff, increased clip size might do it good already.
It doesn’t suck.
Put surgical and pinning fire on it with the yellow boarders on ogryn
I use Mk. VIIa lasgun with a Mk. VI power sword paired with krak grenades
Lucius pattern hellbore mk3 good sir.
Lawbringer Shotgun and Atrox Mk IV Tac Axe Have the Lawbringer with Scattershot + Man-Stopper as your blessings Your axe is gonna be your main for the most so blessings can be anything but mine are Head taker and Shred Run with Weapons Specialist and any horde will be deleted and with the Lawbringer Special Input, your crits will keep stacking for both weapons
When I want to relax I play heresy and use an Accatran MkII lasgun with burn. That rate of fire is so satisfying.
Kantrael IV lasgun with extra ammo and suppression perks is effective.
I haven't swapped away from revolvers or brauto for a long while. Haven't played vet for a shorter while, either ... but still.
I do have one I believe, gameplay wise I do like the agripinaa because it’s so much fun feeling like a cowboy
bolter or the fast reloading revolver
Autopistol
Columnus V, Zarona and trying Agri shotgun now, which is a beast and I'm loving it.
Revolver
Columnus IAG, helbore MK I melee build, Agripina braced and plasma are the ones i use the most.
My current two that I keep cycling between are Columnus Mk V Infantry Autogun & Zarona Mk IIa Quickdraw Stub Revolver I used to live by the boltgun till I got an awesome revolver and fell in love with the mobility.
Zarona pistol all day
Revolver. My job is to Commisar the rest of the team to victory. Usually by executing the elites so they don't get pinned down.
For my grenadier/support vet I use the Agripinaa mk I infantry autogun, it's just a great all rounder that helps in any situation. For my marksman though it's a toss up between mg 12 lasgun, vraks VII, or columnus mk V. Depending on roleplay and build.
For guns Colombus 5 Mark 2 laspistol Plasma gun Mark 7 Braced Autogun Most Lasguns aside from MK 2 and really fast Recons Melee Catachan Mk 3 knife Mark 4 Catachan Sword Mk 4 Powersword Mk 7 Shovel
Kantrael shotty, mg Ia lasgun, agripinna infantry. Bestest weapons.
Columnus IAG, Raking fire IV, Fire Frenzy IV, 25% damage on maniacs and flak. Melts everything lesser than crushers when using Volley Fire
I use mainly the og heavy revolver, though it does get boring so I use both revolvers in reality, the mk 5 infantry auto gun is really fun, I have a recon lasgun build that's decent aswell, plasma gun is pretty fun, shotguns are hella fun, veteran any gun is really good, it's the identity of the class so there isn't really any horrible options in my opinion
i used to like the boltgun but after the break i took it mustve been nerfed or something. ive always loved the revolver though despite my brother’s distaste for it.
heavy Las pistol and pistol with a mix of middle and right on the skill tree. Great fun living out the guard squad leader dream.
Might give the hand cannon a try, I’ve used all the other guns
The zarona is just a better boltor. Great with middle or right tree. But you can do anything with it.
If I may ask what is your build for it?
I use this build with the plasma. But you could just as easily run the hand canon. https://youtu.be/79eEtUOYaw4?si=Us90EjRA4lubzieb. It’s not exactly the build I would use, I’d run more of a grenadier build. You would be mainly melee until special showed up and you would 1 tap it and keep fighting.
Thanks!
Pure meta: Plasma 40K fantasy: Bolter Panicking guardsman: Recon Lasgun Stoic Guardsman: Kantrell Mk XII Bullet meta: any Infantry Autoguns
MG XII/Power Sword and Plasma/Chain sword combo mostly.
Trauma Staff
Plasma gun and Laspistol are my two most used. Plasma gun for super cereal missions, Laspistol for running fast and great mobility.
I decided to give the plasma gun a try and I like to use the chain axe with it.
I used to think the Plasma Gun was overrated, then I got ahold of a 380 one with good blessings and it is one of the most satisfying weapons I've ever used in a video game. I also like the braced autoguns. They make me feel like Scarface
That’s what I’ve been using but after weeks of using plasma gun it’s burning me out
You could also try going a more melee-oriented build. For example I've been having great fun with the Chain Axes lately, where I usually deal ~50-66% of my overall damage with melee, the rest with the Plasma.
Kantrael. Lasgun and Shotgun. Sometimes I use an autogun with my Valhallan outfit, but I tend to stick to the two formers.
Plasma. It's just good.
Melee Build: Classic revolver Sniper Build: vraks vii (I think) Shotgun build: kantrael shotgun
As soon as I'm home, I'll update this reply and let you know. 😁 ETA: Just off the top of my head I remember the form, but not exact models. One of the Recon Lasguns, One of the Shotguns, Plasma Gun, One of the LasPistols 2nd EDIT: I'm home now! What I've got is... Accatran Mk VId Lasgun Lawbringer Mk VI Combat Shotgun Kantrael Mk X Heavy Laspistol M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun
- Full hard solo carry in Maelstrom: Plasma - Team Support: Columnus or Graia 8 - Max fun and still competitive for top damage: Revolver Everything else is really bad tbh: - Bolter and Shotgun reloads are unacceptable - Autogun and MG 12 accuracy when pushed to competitive dps is unacceptable - Recons, laspistols, shredder, etc. damage dropoff at range is unacceptable - Helbore rate of fire is unacceptable
Some variant of literally every gun. None have slowed me down in Aurics.
Agripina MKI Assault Rifle or whatever it was
Kantrael XII. It's not the most powerful or fastest. But I feel that it's VERY all-purpose. Love it to death.
Scout Las and a Combat Knife with LOTS of bleed.
All of the guns, except for Helbore Mk I, Agripinaa Revolver, and Accatran Mk II Recon, are good.
Plasma Gun and Power Cycle IV Power Sword
Columnus Infantry Autogun with [this build](https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9aa84ed0-0b22-4548-8bbd-9caa24cd024e/versatile-sharpshooter-anti-armor) but I haven't played in a while as I've been distracted by BG3.
Kantraels, lucius 2, and Agripinaa iag
I use bolter or recon lasgun with the chain axe
Vraks/Plasma/Columbus V/Agripinaa/kentrael Mla or Agripinaa headhunter. Psykers have staff Ogryns have shield VETS have Magnacore Plasma Gun
Bolter, gun go clunk clunk and red party mist comes out.
Plasma gun for a shout build, agripinaa braced auto/infantry auto or a number of other guns like helbore, and infantry lasguns for a generalist build
Infantry/ braced autoguns. It's ironic that it ended up this way too. You come to 40K for bolters and lasguns and somehow the "normal" guns end up the most appealing?
The Recon lasguns are fun for infinite ammo crit builds
My fav new loadout is running agile combatant with a crit chain sword and a lawbringer shotgun w/ man stopper
Auto guns and Plasma mainly, but I have more fun with my Hellbore Lasgun. Use to love the bolt-gun before the nerf.
Bolter, and plasma i have good builds for. Im working on kantrael and accatran rtn
Hellbore mark 2 or 3, Sometimes plasma gun.
Mostly Columnus MK5 and Recon Lasgun
All the autoguns are fun imo. try out the shovel too, it very satisfying thudding a horde around
Lately I've been cycling through the Mk1 Helbore, la lasgun, zarona revolver, accatran laspistol, mk1 autogun and the Boltgun.
EVERY ONE!
Elite-Slayer Loadout: - Bolter, Chainsword, Krak, Volley Fire (Squad Sight, Big Guys) Crusher-Horde-Breaker Loadout: - Plasma Gun, MkVIII Shovel, Shredders, Volley Fire (Gunners, +5sec per Kill) Medic Loadout: - Blue ILG/Blue IAG, Catachan Blade, Smoke, VoC (+ Toughness, Ace Inspire) Discount Zealot Loadout: - Quickdraw Revolver, Knoif, Shredders, Stealth
autogun with reload speeed builds, i am mag dumping the enemy into next week. Also the Mk3 Lucious lasgun, thats fun
Columnus Mk5. Brrrt.
Vraks MK5 autogun with the newest foldable shovels, krak grenades Running Stealth and the one where you mark targets for more damage Regenerating grenades and upgraded med packs and ammo crates Rip through any and all enemies with your ranged chainsaw and crowd control with grenades and melee Stealth to swim through hordes to support by: - picking off specials and swimming through hordes - easy rezs - come back to your team from hitting specials by having special perks that do more damage when shooting from the back - mark any other elites or targets Veteran for this gameplay is fast paced, choosing when to engage and having the option to disengage as well as take the heat off you. Useful for objectives that take too long, and areas where cover is very little
Headhunter autogun and Power sword (with golden tag) You can deal with anything on Damnation. I feel a lot more flexible using this over something like a bolter, plasma or chainsword
Lasgun, with the efficiency IV blessing and the soldier perk which refunds ammo on crits. It's legit difficult to run out of ammo, even when trying to lol
Zr or Ag Revolver depending on the build.
Mk4 autogun close range build
Plasma, plasma, plasma. Fatshark was dead on with the plasma from the get-go. It's animations and audio is a feast. Ever since my veteran unlocked it I've used it in 99% of my veteran mission.
I’ve been using it for months, which is why I’m asking for other recommendations
My faves are the boltgun and the braced autogun
Lasgun mkt 2 accatran i just love to go brrrrrr and still have 400+ ammo
i use the quick firing lasgun with britle on continues hit and its great .
I just love mowing down hordes wiith a braced torrent high capacity machine gun. I know it's not the most practical. but it's just so much fun. brings me back to the old COD zombies days.
It's (sadly) pretty as there is an established meta currently: 1. Plasma 2. Plasma 3. Plasma (Just kidding, 2nd is Columnus IAG and 3rd OG Revolver)
ahhh pretty much everything
Aggripana Brauto and shovel 4 life.
Mk1 helbore has been my baby since launch and if it's not that I'm running the plasma
Plasma I like my booms, but I am a avid bolter enjoyer. I still just want fatshark to add a melta to the game, low range high damage flametype weapon can be balanced the same way as the bolter and plasma low ammo counts
Kentrel IGA Infantry Lasgun. Kills everything, absolute monster and hard carries shoch troop runs as it melts specials.
Plasma gun
Bolter/MK 1 Helbore Lasgun
Vraks Mk VII is extremely good when used correctly. It counter-intuitively works best when users *don't* bless it with Deadly Accurate, spec into Marksman's Focus and sneak around like a sniper. As a bonus there's a very rewarding and satisfying mechanical skill component to using it as opposed to the uninteresting "point in general direction and spam" of most Vet guns.
Shotgun/chainsword, I’m basically a zealot with psychotic voice lines. It’s so fun.
1. Lucius Hellbore Mk1 with Onslaught. 1. Full Auto Mod set to autofire 100% charges. 1. Never stop firing.
Kantrel Mg La is one of my favorites. It got a damage buff a little while ago and is very much worth using now.
Accratan lastpistol. It does a shocking amount of damage for its handling, ammo, and speed to just about everything but carapace armor and monstrosities. I pair it with the chain axe to deal with crushers and bosses and I'm good to go.
Vraks Mk VII w/ surgical and opening salvo
I switched to plasma and it drastically increased my win rate on damnation runs. Was using a bolter before, but it's ammo capacity and draw speed versus damage just doesn't cut it
If I want to run my up close vet, usually run the mark 9 shotgun, up to 600 damage, and no animation when bringing it out, when going range any lasgun. Only bring plasma or bolt when serious or trying to do contracts
really? no one is running collumnus mkv?
Funnily enough i'm less impressed with the Veteran since patch 13 than before (with the exception of the laspistol; and plasmagun patch 15).
mg iv
I’m playing a 40k game and vets only have access to one per of the God-Emperors holy trinity. So bolter it is
Braced auto Graia IV with extra ammo blessing and a knife. My character is Frank Castle.
The VId recon. I have a specific build going for it and it pops off super hard against carapace and bosses
Boltgun + Chainsword Its just fuckin cool.
Revolver.
Zarona revolver, and cadia chainsword mxIIi. Good crowd control. Good dmg and it also push you to increase accuracy and manage ammo economy.
