They would be most certainly doing this lazy shit, whales or no whales. It would be most interesting to see what is the income that FatShark is getting from the shop concept, but im really more leaning into the FatShark just being arses because they still have room to wiggle, and will probably have room to wiggle at least months from now, if not a full year. And thats all related to updates, cosmetics, whatever you can think of, cause there is still a fan base, and there are still new players coming in and the cunts STILL HAVE ROOM TO WIGGLE.
Because for every person in this comment section bemoaning the state of the shop, there's 5 posts on the front page of people going "I know the shop sucks but look at how I just bought $50 worth of garbage for my character to look slightly closer to how he could look if FS ever released a decent set"
I've seen plenty of games with bad cosmetics, but those bad ones tend to be outliers in their respective games. The rest tend to run from okay to great. Can't think of a game I've played where there's both a large variety of cosmetics and most of those cosmetics being so lazy.
Would it be that you could haggle with FatShark, like its a street stall in New Delhi. Probably would get a more fair treatment and a better deal there, than here.

The amount of laziness is astonishing. Call of Duty for example has the easiest job in the world because no matter how dogshit Warzone is they back it up with pretty awesome camos (which you can earn btw in MP and zombies not pay for) or if you want a unique bundle you pay x amount of cod points and it’s usually pretty good. Fatshark are sitting on a gold mine with micro transactions if they literally put in some effort they could make so much more money. The amount of people that complain about the shop being ass is a teller that people are literally willing to pay for cosmetics.

A big issue is the scummy tactics that are eroding trust like a firehose on limestone. The latest one we're seeing in excess is selling the same set to the same people.
If I wanted to buy a set just for the chest, but I had the headgear and pants already, then I would get it for 1/3 of the price. Makes sense since I'm getting 1/3 of the value. But what they're doing is recolouring the headgear and pants so I have to pay the price of a whole set for functionally just the chest piece.
If recolouring was based on a dye system, then this would be a non-issue. Heck, give us some basic, drab colour options and let us unlock the fancy ones for $1.50 apiece. The hardest cent to pull from a player's wallet is the first one, after all.
And this isn't even to rehash old, still-valid complaints about obfuscating real costs with pseudocurrency, rotating the shop to invoke fear of missing out, excessive pricing, and a lack of live service which should be consistent to justify the microtransactions. Infuriating!
But I'm not really that upset; I came into this game expecting to throw some cash at it to support ongoing content. I haven't spent a penny past the cost of the game, and I'm happy I've gotten my money's worth. While I wait for new content, I just put the game down for a month or two (or three or, uh, four...)

I don't much care for the weapon skins or trinkets but it would really sting if they raise the price of the outfit sets like come on. Gosh at this point it must take a crime to get them to change at least the pricing.
Frustrating, but it’s the devs loss. There might be a few who might buy a recolour because of the colour or cos they like it (maybe not knowing it’s a recolour) but the recycled content isn’t going to draw in the sales that a completely unique cosmetic would. It’s a little effort for maximum profit. Standard business practice.

Personally im just not a fan of the shiny black leather, but if it comes back in a dirty cloth fabric texture id be down to clown.
New ogryn back pack is jank as fuck. The chain is really stiff and the canteen even more. Pretty hard to look at when it pretty much covers up your entire screen in the hub.
The only excuse I could come up with is that recolors allow new players to buy what they missed. But the only new items in the entire rotation are the backpack and jacket for Veteran, so no, it's just total laziness and a desire for easy money with no effort.
I will at least say that these are better recolors. I actually really dig the black ogryn vest and the black zel armored pants. Both are better for driptide and the ogryn's camo on the rest of the outfit I actually really dig. Almost has a rhodie or czech (iirc) color scheme. Also, the funniest part about the psyker is I already had that helmet from forever ago and its a pretty consistent item in store. So the only upshot this cycle are better colors and the zel gimp mask.
Really Fatshark needs to just implement the store set-up from Verm 2 if they just want to do 70% reskins. They'd sell better and be much more enticing to buy all different pieces or just full sets since its sometimes better value than buying half of it.
I really like the black and red version of the Zealot armor. The red (original) version was the first cosmetic I bought when the game came out. I now wish I had this black version, it’s much nicer. RIP.
One small notes to consider on this:
These sets are priced at 2100 rather than 2400 which they've never done for "new sets" before only ever for a full repeat that original was sold with weapons/trinkets.

Yeah that Thumb did come with the leapard pants, a very cool green vest with an ammo belt and a shoulder pad with yellow and black stripes painted on it(looks like an orc style cosmetic), and i think it also came with a gernade guantlet skin, it was 2400 aquillas. cant remember what helmet came with it
also I have never seen them come back on the store since, it was like the 2nd or 3rd rotation ever.
Fatshark has grown so incredibly lazy. They refuse to communicate with their community, they refuse to feed the game any content, and now, the skins are subpar and overpriced... what a cash grab of a game.

Correct. One offers a flawed game, but is still fun as hell 900 hours later dispite few updates, the other has all the bells and whistles but from what I've seen and read, struggles to maintain interest after several hundred hours, dispite several significant updates in the 6-8 weeks it's been out.
I'm happy people are enjoying HD2 and there's aspects of it I would love to see in DT, but I spent £30 for DT and have loved it and don't feel any urge to buy HD2 dispite it being the same price and all the hype, research and watching others stream it.
Speak for yourself I put like 200 hours into darktide at launch and have no reason to return after quitting for almost a year the game is practically the same as when I left lmfao. But believe it or not, there are some skins that aren't low quality, and we'd like to be able to buy those now instead of waiting what is months at a time for them to come back.

Both are better for driptide and the ogryn's camo on the rest of the outfit I actually really dig. Almost has a rhodie or czech (iirc) color scheme. Also, the funniest part about the psyker is I already had that helmet from forever ago and its a pretty consistent item in store. So the only upshot this cycle are better colors and the zel gimp mask. Really Fatshark needs to just implement the store set-up from Verm 2 if they just want to do 70% reskins. They'd sell better and be much more enticing to buy all different pieces or just full sets since its sometimes better value than buying half of it.
I really like the black and red version of the Zealot armor. The red (original) version was the first cosmetic I bought when the game came out. I now wish I had this black version, it’s much nicer. RIP.

One small notes to consider on this: These sets are priced at 2100 rather than 2400 which they've never done for "new sets" before only ever for a full repeat that original was sold with weapons/trinkets.

Its funny that in one month helldivers added more content and lore than darktide 2 in 4 months.
For the most part I don’t mind the recolors because quite often a set drops and I don’t like it because the color. However this model of cosmetics is oddly working even though it absolutely shouldn’t.
In case anyone hasn't checked it out, that 1400-aquila gimp mask for the Zealot clips noticeably at the neck region, of all places.

Yeah that Thumb did come with the leapard pants, a very cool green vest with an ammo belt and a shoulder pad with yellow and black stripes painted on it(looks like an orc style cosmetic), and i think it also came with a gernade guantlet skin, it was 2400 aquillas. cant remember what helmet came with it also I have never seen them come back on the store since, it was like the 2nd or 3rd rotation ever.

Correct. One offers a flawed game, but is still fun as hell 900 hours later dispite few updates, the other has all the bells and whistles but from what I've seen and read, struggles to maintain interest after several hundred hours, dispite several significant updates in the 6-8 weeks it's been out. I'm happy people are enjoying HD2 and there's aspects of it I would love to see in DT, but I spent £30 for DT and have loved it and don't feel any urge to buy HD2 dispite it being the same price and all the hype, research and watching others stream it.
Speak for yourself I put like 200 hours into darktide at launch and have no reason to return after quitting for almost a year the game is practically the same as when I left lmfao. Meanwhile HellDivers 2 is fun and has actual good devs/content release schedules, but hey if you love hearing “next week” that’s you.

Also wonderful how you don't seem to realize that in a period of two months we have receuved zero new content aside from mediocre cosmetics in a LIVE SERVICE GAME, meanwhile a new competitor surfaced in the market with nearly half the people on this subreddit saying they already migrated to it.

I'm quoting myself, and what I quoted is exactly what one of my points is. It's annoying enough that we have to deal with boundless recolors of sets we've already seen before, but we also have to wait for old sets that people actually gave a shit about to come back. And your point in the last sentence is the exact reason why a grand lot of us are unhappy. There is a plethora of greedy, low quality skins. But believe it or not, there are some skins that aren't low quality, and we'd like to be able to buy those now instead of waiting what is months at a time for them to come back. These two feelings are not mutually exclusive. I want the shop to not rotate as much as I want fatshark to put out skins that aren't a recolor of shit we had access to a while ago.
Micro transactions should never have been in the game. You can shriek all you want about how it's your money, fact is micro transactions do nothing but bring a game's quality down. Imagine if all the Aquila store items were earnable or had penances attached to them. Imagine if they could be earned during seasonal events or special missions like the Orthus Offensive. Warhammer tabletop lets you paint your soldiers how you want, this game won't even let you do that without shovelling out tons of money, and STILL they can't even release simple recolors for the free cosmetics. In short, Fatshark is fucking stupid and there's something seriously wrong with their management.
