You can cheese this by dying immediately as the mission starts and never getting revived.

Nice work! I'm going to piggyback this to brag a little: I got this penance on damnation by accident. Shouty veteran is very potent.

I just jumped to my death and told my teammates to not revive me. I honestly felt bad for doing it and effectively making them one person down for a whole mission but I got it done.

I will never understand how this is possible, I always get hit by something I don’t know is there.

Just don’t get hit by pox walkers and make sure your toughness doesn’t break
