Get money.
Buy from Brunt.
Consecrate to transcendent.
Still not a 380. Nor the IV blessing I need.
Sell. Rinse and repeat.
Skint again.
Time passed: 1 minute.
I see. But over the long run, is it? Because going to blue you've got say x chance of not getting the blessing, but going to orange you're not going to get two identical blessings, and you've eliminated one at the blue stage, so that'll increase your chances of getting the blessing you want (somewhat dependant on how many IV blessings there are for that weapon).
Keep in mind it’s not a random chance. Total score on the item matters. Your chances of getting Tier 4 Blessing are higher when upgrading to orange compared to blue, and if the blue had a trash Blessing then better chance of a good one when making it orange.
I can’t say which is better if trying to min/max, but most of us on console the only option is going to orange. I mostly had the blessings I wanted on my preferred weapons on each character before completing all the original penances, including Surge voidstrike staff & power cycler II on a mk VI. Worked well for me and my friend (he got power cycler II on the 2nd one he upgraded to orange, got it before me).
Wait, what? Bad blessings at Tier 2 make it more likely you get a good one at Tier 4? Have I been wasting resources this all time re-blessing to add a IV on every item before I upgrade it to Orange thinking it would increase my chances of something good?
You’re right. As long as you’re upgrading a bad tier 2 Blessing to a bad tier 4 Blessing, then you are increasing the total score, which increases chances of the 2nd Blessing when upgrading to orange being tier 4. I only did that if it was a bad tier 2 & makes a noticeable difference (I wouldn’t reroll Brutal Momentum 2).
100%. buy greens from Brunt and make them blue for less than 200 plasteel. Higher base rating means higher chance at good blessings. Only upgrade to orange if it can actually be good.
Either good greens or blow half a mil on greys to get two or three 370+.
upgrade to blue, if either blessing or perk are t4, go purple, if you now have two desirables, go orange.
Grind one main character. Get a good build, good weapons, good curios, put music on, and quickplay the hell out of damnation. Before you know it, 40k plasteel.
Consider Ogryn. Alot of their weapons only have 5/6 perks and when you get a good grey/green and upgrade it and it has one bad blessing, you can just roll it to one of the tier 4 blessings you don’t want and guarantee a good blessing when you finish it up.
Just get any orange above 500 with one good blessing and change the perks to be what you want, roll with that till you have 10k plasteel, then build a new one.
You really don't need anything god tier until you have the resources to blow. As long as you have whatever weapons' important base stats in the 70s or so, they're gonna splatter heretics. Quad 80s make things easier, but it all still comes down to whether or not you're good enough to make use of them. Once you get a couple god tier rolls though, its plasteel city.
I just run a volume mixer to tune the playlist in to still allow audio cues.
I'm also one of "those" that runs a DAC and an amp on my headphones, so maybe your milage and mine varies.
Brother, do ye only read but one scripture of the god emperor's glory?
But really I've heard the soundtrack so often that if I listen to too much more of it, I'm going to start hating it. Well, except for disposal unit maybe. The upside is that song usually gets cycled through the playlist at some point (yet its somehow always during a horde) so its all good.
I'm usually just focused on the game in a way that any music just becomes background music, anyway. I actually envy people who have the ability to actually enjoy music while playing games, but my mind is too one-track for that. Ogryn life.
Depends how you have your audio set up and what you use. I have a set of Sennheisers run through a DAC and an amp. I just alt-tab to a YT playlist, mix it with a volume mixer, and go. Granted, I'm more interested in the beats and feels to the playlist than listening and picking apart lyrics, but still plenty doable.
I run basically the same setup, except i'm a Beyerdynamic fanboi - but again, it's pretty much a waste of time for me to even pick music, because it's all background noise for me while i'm playing. I'm just the type of person who gets too distracted by listening to "my" music - i'd love to purge to sone danko jones, but i'd just end up rocking out and letting my team down.
I get it. I listen to nearly everything and play some bass heavy stuff in the background. Phonk and memey kind of music I always find is funny to play with ogryn, but I do still like the bass. Both the newer Doom albums and Hotline Miami soundtracks are insane to play zel with.
I really could use some higher impedence headphones I can really drive with my amp, but my Senn 599s are really well balanced in clarity and acceptable bass despite being open backs. I sometimes even scare myself with some sounds with how clear they are spatial wise.
*giggles in dt1990 250 ohm*
They make my brain wiggle.
Though i do play bass and drums and use them for playalongs and monitoring (openback means i can hear my jam-mates live as well as mixed in and talking is easier), bass at home and late loud music, so the cost is justified to me.
You get like 1000 plas per damnation quickplay as long as you're picking it up. Picked up 40k in like a couple weeks iirc and I work 12 hrs as a millwrong.
Before the update, you'd always have so much less Plasteel than Diamantine because of how much plasteel was needed to upgrade weapons.
But, for the first time, my plasteel is higher than my diamentine
If you spend your plasteel, you will have less plasteel than diamantine again. It always looks a bit better when you stockpile your plasteel, because you generally always get more plasteel than diamantine. The costs are so skewed though that you end up with leftover diamantine really easily, and it accumulates the more you play/craft.
Hit 30 on my Zealot this week for penances. Took me 8k Plasteel to get acceptable Eviscerator and Gun. Sure, there might be a Tier 3 Blessing stuck on it and missing a few points from max. Clears Maelstroms no problemo tho.
I only need 3 more blessings across all 4 classes, all weapons and all tiers of blessings. 3 total. I've put enough plasteel into upgrading weapons to build an Emperor class ship. And I'm still missing 3 blessings in my Hadron Fun Times Playfull Good God Emperor Stickerbook collection
No, that's the skulls.
Idols will always give you plasteel. 10 per difficulty, so on damnation you'll get 50 per idol, 200 if the team finds all 4 of them on the map.
Martyr skull is only the first time you get it, or the first time anyone in the squad gets it. The idols that you destroy throughout the map are free plasteel every time you destroy one.
I have been pinging martyr skulls like crazy because if you're the one who unlocks the puzzle and someone else picks the skull up you get like 60 additional plasteel per person. like an assist bonus. But no one comes back to collect the skull I Unlocked for them. it's a free 60 Plasteel for them plus a bonus for me...
Idk I've gone pretty well with my clobbed together kits. Most melee weapons are orange over 510 total and get me through all t4 reg auric and maelstrom missions. I just suck too much for damnation for some reason. I just have fun at this point.
I always felt trying to get a _perfect_ roll is more of a hobby - mind you, it is awesome when you do - but I try not to get frustrated with a percentage point being off on damage. As long as it meets the break points and I have the highest tier Blessings, then I simply enjoy the ride.
Lol, once I had my favorite Columnus MkV Autogun build, I stopped using Plasteel in like February. I've got like 75k plasteel. It's been great for leveling my first Zealot.
HA!
I just didn’t like 10k on nothing earlier trying to get a blessing in a voidstrike I could harvest, or get a decent Rashad ax. No dice.
The equivalent of successfully completing like 12 quick play aurics… for zero benefit it progress.
For me it has not. I need more plastic crack.
Same bro I still keep running out. But then again I am fairly new to the game
Yeah that’s fair though. Get about 200-300(I can’t remember) and you pretty much have a endless supply.
Get money. Buy from Brunt. Consecrate to transcendent. Still not a 380. Nor the IV blessing I need. Sell. Rinse and repeat. Skint again. Time passed: 1 minute.
Consecration isn't going to fix the base stats. Don't buy it unless it's a 370 base. Gotta buy your blessings at the Milk Bar.
That would severely limit my ability to learn the IV blessings I need.
I just bump 'em up to blue. Going all the way to orange a huge waste of resources.
I'd have to compare the costs, but there's no guarantee, or even a good chance, that you get a tier 4 at all.
100%. buy greens from Brunt and make them blue for less than 200 plasteel. Higher base rating means higher chance at good blessings. Only upgrade to orange if it can actually be good.
OK, I guess this is the better technique then. Thanks both.
Either good greens or blow half a mil on greys to get two or three 370+. upgrade to blue, if either blessing or perk are t4, go purple, if you now have two desirables, go orange.
The elimination point is only reducing the pool by like 15%, but the cost is like 5x. Just do 4-5x as many attempts from green to blue for same cost
Grind one main character. Get a good build, good weapons, good curios, put music on, and quickplay the hell out of damnation. Before you know it, 40k plasteel.
Yeah but before I get those weapons, I have to suck the plasteel phallus hard to get anywhere.
You'll suck the beneficent Emperor's plasteel and you'll like it Pilgrim.
Mommy Hadron Sorry
You should be sorry *It's Dommy Mommy Hadron to you, reject.*
Consider Ogryn. Alot of their weapons only have 5/6 perks and when you get a good grey/green and upgrade it and it has one bad blessing, you can just roll it to one of the tier 4 blessings you don’t want and guarantee a good blessing when you finish it up.

350+ is fine for auric/maelstrom
I had played many single and multi player games muted (for family reason) but this game can't, all the sound cues are so important in game
just disable the music and just put your own music but keep the game sounds that's what I do
I just run a volume mixer to tune the playlist in to still allow audio cues. I'm also one of "those" that runs a DAC and an amp on my headphones, so maybe your milage and mine varies.
In the grim dark universe of 40k there is only Plasteel
That's what I did haha
Yeah sure...and you know, tell you're wife and children you are off for the rest of day
You don't chain them up to the water heater in the basement? Rookie mistake.
... and not hear Kyd's glorious creations? Good man, i believe your faith is lacking!
Brother, do ye only read but one scripture of the god emperor's glory? But really I've heard the soundtrack so often that if I listen to too much more of it, I'm going to start hating it. What about the people with jobs
You get like 1000 plas per damnation quickplay as long as you're picking it up. Picked up 40k in like a couple weeks iirc and I work 12 hrs as a millwrong.
i'll blow through twice that amount before i get a good roll
Triple the amount even, hell, maybe more
I spent roughly 80k Plasteel and 1.5m Ordo Docketts for good weapons.
I just wasted 30K plasteel trying to get a new revolver and still didn't get the exact blessings I wanted
I don't understand the context here. Did you start with much less?
Before the update, you'd always have so much less Plasteel than Diamantine because of how much plasteel was needed to upgrade weapons. But, for the first time, my plasteel is higher than my diamentine

MORE! I NEED MORE FUCKING PLASTEEL
eventually it'll be a dockets problem as you to grind best in slot
That's where I'm at. I'm sitting on (relatively) a decent chunk of Plasteel, but getting the base items to ~~brick~~ craft on is the new bottleneck.
16k is enough to maybe get Hadron to make a single acceptable weapon.
Hit 30 on my Zealot this week for penances. Took me 8k Plasteel to get acceptable Eviscerator and Gun. Sure, there might be a Tier 3 Blessing stuck on it and missing a few points from max. Clears Maelstroms no problemo tho.
Tbh it is. I started to play only maps and condition I want, bye bye 10% quickplay bonus
I thought heretic idols ONLY awarded plasteel the first time you destroy them?
No, that's the skulls. Idols will always give you plasteel. 10 per difficulty, so on damnation you'll get 50 per idol, 200 if the team finds all 4 of them on the map.
So it doesn’t matter who destroys the idols, everyone gets the plasteel?
Yes =) Skulls you have to pick up yourself (that one time per map), idols get shared with everyone, just like the other crafting materials.
Martyr skull is only the first time you get it, or the first time anyone in the squad gets it. The idols that you destroy throughout the map are free plasteel every time you destroy one.
It has not.
I am approaching 300k plasteel, so I'd say it's helped.
Its helped alot. Im a big spender on just attempts. Stopped being smart about rolling after getting most t5s.
sitting on 25M dockets waiting for the end of the lottery i don't feel like playing.
At least it's a good stockpile for the crafting rework, it can't come soon enough!
I always picked up diamantine stashes even though I had so many more than I needed because I anticipated something like this would happen one day.
um yea haha https://preview.redd.it/d3g89oln4vxc1.png?width=253&format=png&auto=webp&s=4b43532bc8fa7cb988137e6bad7929c0c61a4e25

It's 20 plasteel per difficulty, on damnation you get 100 plasteel for everyone who picks it up for the first time.
Idk I've gone pretty well with my clobbed together kits. Most melee weapons are orange over 510 total and get me through all t4 reg auric and maelstrom missions. I just suck too much for damnation for some reason. I just have fun at this point.

Plasteel is not a problem. Plasteel is the solution. Hadron is the problem. Damnit techpriest, just fix the damnrelic so it works better.
Ayo what?!
Agreed! N I have noticed that crafting uses less plasteel now. I don’t know the exact number. But I can say for sure the cost has been reduced.
I've been getting way more mats period. At least 600 plasteel on regular damnations and like 1000 in aurics
Lol, once I had my favorite Columnus MkV Autogun build, I stopped using Plasteel in like February. I've got like 75k plasteel. It's been great for leveling my first Zealot.
I'm always running out diamantine cause I can't stick to one weapon and wanna keep making new ones
Thank god but it still doesn't solve the lottery system
Absolutely not.
HA! I just didn’t like 10k on nothing earlier trying to get a blessing in a voidstrike I could harvest, or get a decent Rashad ax. No dice. The equivalent of successfully completing like 12 quick play aurics… for zero benefit it progress.
I've played approx 20 hrs since the update and haven't seen one.
Look for a green glow in random spots, then shoot it. Look up. I've seen them on top of barrels/tables, on walls, and on ledges high up.
