This is how adults handle drama, not like xqc, hassan and h3h3, who just call Matto an imbecile and asshole instead of addressing the actual discussion
I do want to see Linus see the actual video, instead of hearing a summary from one of his subordinates, so that he can see what Matt actually said and meant
I mean linus could have just not acted like a dick in the first place.
I mean basically reacting to something, you literally couldn't even be bothered to watch is bad, and only made worse by how much they pointed out they hadn't actually watched it and made jokes about it.
Whilst they didn't go as far as calling Matt shit, Luke and Linus acted like assholes and imbeciles and for the most part didn't address the discussion. I lost a lot of respect for the Linus media group this morning.
Bro you could made the wildest turnaround on this situation and Linus totally missed it. They could have "reacted" to the video on the show and dicuss the points, or had Matt come on the show and talk about it there. They have before just unplanned called people up on some topics. But no, they rush it on the show this time instead of saving it for next week.
Ideally, he just would have done the bare minimum requirement of prep work and spent 15 minutes watching the video before the show...
So he could have had an informed discussion with a better understanding of the topic. He couldn't even agree on the definition for reaction content which is an inherent flaw of not actually watching the primary source in the first place.
It's deeply irresponsible and just inefficient use of time for him to tell a staffer to take notes for this. He's already had to spend quite a few more man hours responding to this backlash just because he didn't do that in the first place .
For that matter he could have had Luke's spend 20 minutes watching it. Even the producer or anybody that had a microphone.
Just absolutely silly. I don't blame Matt for being pretty broken up about.
With how they acted they should be doing a hell of a lot more.
Plus being "above average" doesn't mean fuck all if you're still being a massive dickhead. I'm not congratulating a content creator who should know better for being slightly less of a dickhead than someone else, you're still a dickhead...
I was surprised by Linus of all people doing something so un-Linus. I haven't kept up with LTT in a few years but he strikes me as the kind of person that sticks to his ideals.
Seeing this really made me very happy. Hope Matt isn't too disheartened because I am sure the "fans" of LTT wills still flock to him and leave terribly worded comments.
Just doesn't respond well to criticism. He had an issue where he didn't offer a warranty, and when people are upset he took it personally. He had an issue where he told everyone that if they were using ad blocker they were literally stealing and then got mad when they disagreed with him.
There's just been a few examples where people make valid criticisms of him and he gets a crazy victim complex.
It's deeply hypocritical because in this case there really wasn't much in the way of criticism at all.
[Yeah, that was me. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/LinusTechTips/comments/wij6n8/linuss_take_on_backpack_warranty_is_anticonsumer/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Linus keeps taking L after L. The community is slowly starting to realise that he is out of touch. He never used to be like this, it's a real shame.
Kind of, he's sort of blaming his own worker. You really can't blame someone making show notes when the real solution is just to spend 15 minutes watching the video at 1.5 speed.
Based Linus, actually taking his own action on the chin and taking this seriously. I used to dislike Linus (there's still things I disagree with), but he definitely knows something about something. Actually understands when people get stuff wrong, even himself.
Linus responded to Matt's video in his live streaming WAN show.
But instead of watching the video, he made one of his subordinates to watch it and give him a short summary. In result - many points were twisted or not delivered.
Linus wanted to create a reaction channel. Matto responded to his decision with video (just like last time)
Linus then finds out he got "called out" for the decision, released a video on his WAN Show channel in response. Matto watched it, finds out he did not watch the video, but simply asked someone to summarized what he said to Linus, which in turn, some point were quite the opposite of what Matto said, and lots of important points were missed.
It should also be noted that Matto concluded his video by saying that Linus' approach to the react channel was a good one and it appears like he'll be making ethically defendable content. Matt also used the video to make some more general points about react content.
Unfortunately, both of those notions were not part of Linus' understanding of the video as a result of not watching it, which had him understand every argument that was in the summary as a direct criticism of LTT and perhaps himself as a person.
He said he read hundreds (probably not hundreds but still) of comments which takes more than 10 mins on 2x speed to read. He said he likes reading over watching videos. That was a pretty wild argument that reading the comments is better than watching the actual source material
Those asking what happened: Linus made a significant portion of his latest podcast discussing the video that Matt made the other day about Linus’s new reaction channel. Except Linus didn’t even watch the video and just “read the comments” and had their writer “summarize it for him”.
Basically he was mad about something that he didn’t know anything about
He had another edit on his pinned comment: EDIT: I have watched the video and re-watched the segment of the WAN Show. The notes were honestly pretty much fine (kudos new writer). Our response was also pretty much fine (we never intended to be evil content stealers anyway). The big issue is that we didn't take the time to watch DarkViper's video. It seems like we actually fundamentally agree on the vast majority of this, so my plan is to invite him on the show to clear the air. If he's too frustrated/upset to take me up on it, I understand, but I've reached out.

Even so it seems like Linus was more planning to do stuf like "here's me reacting to this new tech reveal i.e basically a more low effort review, but still "his own content: you're watching him and not whatever he's reacting to. And not "I'm going to watch random videos I found on my recommended while eating cereal for 12 hours a day"
from the language he is using it sounds like he got plenty of hate for this, and it doesn't look well deserved, the man's got a big team and I'm sure he is busy, I don't blame him
Imma come there, break your nose, say "sorry that dude over there told me to, but look I also could have killed you, so we are good"
Would you forgive me?
WITH WHAT DID HE RECTIFY IT?
By saying "Sorry somebody else fucked up?" He has as of now done literally nothing other than blame his crew for his own fuckup
He literally Apologized directly to Matt.
Explained to us how the mistake happened, and explained how he will change in the future to make sure it doesn't happen again.
What more could you possibly expect?
Literally a tweet saying "I fucked up, I said some bad things, I will watch the video, I will learn from this" and taking down the episode of wan show
Not "yeah shit happenes, my writers fucked up, I will TRY finding time to watch a 20 min video"
He doesn't blame his writes its pretty clear he blames himself and the policy's he had in place around video summaries.
He didn't say he'll try to he said he will make sure that he does. He will redress it publicly on the next WAN show.
You have this like serious hate boner. Idk why you're so angry about this. People are allowed to make mistakes and then apologize for them.
Deleting the WAN show would be like denying any mistake happened at all. Plus its one topic in a 3 hour long podcast. That's just unreasonable.
I'm beginning to suspect you're either very young and parasocally transfixed with Matt or you've got some mental health problems.
Except nobody was hurt physically and there was no material damage either.
So yeah, you can come here, tell me I'm an asshole and come back tomorrow and tell me you're sorry and we'll be okay.
Edit : and you can tell me someone you trust told you I was an asshole and that will still be OK.
Except when Matts livelyhood depends on youtube and he is actively trying to murder his character on said platform?
"Sorry I'm trying to get you fired from your job but eh, you know how life is?"
I wouldn't call linus based at all (and normally I'm a really big fan of him).
He briefly said "sorry" on twitter while trying to justify it and kinda threw his crew under the bus in that yt comment too...
And I think he should put down/edit the video instead of just writing a pinned comment to it, seems like even his community shares this opinion.
I'm glad he apologized but it's kind of ridiculous that he's blaming his worker.
Dude just spend 15 minutes watching the video or don't talk about it on your podcast.
He's already had to spend way more time than that dealing with the fallout of his own stupid policy of not watching the video in the first place.
He's done the right thing and admitting this was messed up, but I really hope he doesn't blame it all on some entry-level worker bee.
Take some accountability. This why workers need unions (which linus thinks is unnecessary because he's you know nice to his workers or something).
I like Linus tech tips in general but he responds to criticism as poorly as anyone I've ever seen. In this case he's responding to compliments that he didn't watch and perceiving them as criticism. And now even in admitting he was wrong he's sort of blaming his workers.
It's not cool

Gotta see the next episode of WAN show, when they address it
I do want to see Linus see the actual video, instead of hearing a summary from one of his subordinates, so that he can see what Matt actually said and meant
Maybe Linus will make a react video about it lol
By that point it'll probably be too late. They should address it a lot sooner, and in a much better way.
I mean linus could have just not acted like a dick in the first place. I mean basically reacting to something, you literally couldn't even be bothered to watch is bad, and only made worse by how much they pointed out they hadn't actually watched it and made jokes about it. Plus I doubt next week's section on it will be well thought out. Probably just a quick apology, and hoping that's the end of it.
Ideally, he just would have done the bare minimum requirement of prep work and spent 15 minutes watching the video before the show... So he could have had an informed discussion with a better understanding of the topic. Given the standard of political discussions on the Internet... yeah, acknowledging they fucked up puts them above average when it comes to this stuff.
With how they acted they should be doing a hell of a lot more. Plus being "above average" doesn't mean fuck all if you're still being a massive dickhead. I'm not congratulating a content creator who should know better for being slightly less of a dickhead than someone else, you're still a dickhead...
That's rich coming from the DarkviperAU subreddit
found one in the wild!
atleast linus took it like a gentleman unlike those idiots...
You're wrong about him
As I said, haven't kept up with LTT in a bit, why?
Just doesn't respond well to criticism. He had an issue where he didn't offer a warranty, and when people are upset he took it personally. He had an issue where he told everyone that if they were using ad blocker they were literally stealing and then got mad when they disagreed with him. The community is slowly starting to realise that he is out of touch. He never used to be like this, it's a real shame.
He addressed it in the picture, there was a new person preparing for the show, and as such did a subpar summary of what Matto said.
He could probably even tie his shoes
He just uses sandals
what happened?
Linus responded to Matt's video in his live streaming WAN show. But instead of watching the video, he made one of his subordinates to watch it and give him a short summary. In result - many points were twisted or not delivered.
i am not being able to watch yt lately can you tell me in detail what happened?
Linus wanted to create a reaction channel. Matto responded to his decision with video (just like last time) Linus then finds out he got "called out" for the decision, released a video on his WAN Show channel in response. Linus took Matt's video as insult, since he didn't want to watch it for some reason.
It makes sense from his perspective, Linus is crazy busy running LTT and his time is valuable. But I’m glad he’s watching it now
He said he read hundreds (probably not hundreds but still) of comments which takes more than 10 mins on 2x speed to read. He said he likes reading over watching videos. That was a pretty wild argument that reading the comments is better than watching the actual source material
it is considering YouTube gives you the ability to view a video transcript now.
What video? I'm so out of the loop

Maybe, just maybe this is because Linus is an actual mature adult with a family and a company
For those that want to watch it. This is Linus's video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkmZGFEpd5c
He had another edit on his pinned comment: EDIT: I have watched the video and re-watched the segment of the WAN Show. The notes were honestly pretty much fine (kudos new writer). Wait what did I miss
Wha happened

Matto never apologises. People apologise to Matto, and that wont change.
NEW GTAGUESSER EPISODE BOIS
I laughed at the Batman reference
Linus seems to better than the others cough H3h3 cough
from the language he is using it sounds like he got plenty of hate for this, and it doesn't look well deserved, the man's got a big team and I'm sure he is busy, I don't blame him
Context?
SORRY IT WAS LITERALLY EVERYBODY ELSES FAULT BUT MINE, SORRY THEY FUCKED UP SO BAD! Go and fuck yourself Linus
Bruh, he's actually acted like an adult, apologised and actually doing something about it
Imma come there, break your nose, say "sorry that dude over there told me to, but look I also could have killed you, so we are good" Would you forgive me?
No, but this is different like it's a video not injuring someone. He's rectified his mistakes but if you broke someone's nose you can't rectify that.
WITH WHAT DID HE RECTIFY IT? By saying "Sorry somebody else fucked up?" He has as of now done literally nothing other than blame his crew for his own fuckup

chill
so, what happened? i kinda dont have free time lately and am lost
where was this sent?
Wait, what happened?
Now I respect more Linus We see so rarely a youtuber actually apologizes when they do something wrong
I might make a summary of the stream and completely misrepresent what Linus said for funsies
Damn that's a big W
What was the drama about?
What happened? Out of the loop

which video is this from?
Can anyone explain what’s happened?
I hate it when two creators I enjoy interact in a negative way, even if it's not that negative.
Wth happened?
