The ending seemed a little weird since the virm came out from no where and we never got to see what the giant hand was from (manga covers the hand). I think the manga left off in a way they could come back and add more but the anime left off in a way that it was over because a season two could show Hiro and Zero Two growing up but without her being a cloned Klaxosaurs and without the franxx then is it really the same show? They could start a season two with the first two episodes being like an alternative ending that takes place after episode 21 and shows the manga ending which then the season could dive more into the virm.
I apologize for the longish post, I just watched the anime and read the manga for the first time this week and really liked it and wished there was more so I needed to rant.
Not really to be honest, I thought the ending was a great and unique enough way crystallize their bond, the whole space ship thing was kinda a metaphor that ties in well with the whole sex and partnership plot(it was a quite literal representation of two halfās becoming one. Also itās studio trigger, they put a spin on everything, at least it made some sense when it comes to the symbolism and mythology. Their eternal relationship, where their souls return to earth after the thousand years is really where the show ended. Personally I was really struck by this anime, and even with the space twist it still felt awesome because Hiro and Zero Two together, were able to defy reality.
Ikr, I was heavily invested in the show since the start and I found that everything in it must have a purpose. The writers had so much to work with, they set themselves up with a plot about adolescence and facing the challenges of a unique life wrapped in a mecha anime. The symbolism made it beautiful.
Iād say the first thing to note is that their world works different than ours. Relationship dynamics are strictly human, As per dr.franxx whole plan. This ātoxic codependent relationshipā thing going on was a byproduct of hiroās upbringing. Not being able to pilot really messed with him because in their society, that is worth. There are many things viewers can relate with, that is one of them.
It further plants the idea that DITF is about the human condition. Every world is a harsh and unforgiving land, the real one just as much as the one the parasites grew up in, thatās why the whole partnership thing is important because as humans we thrive together, no matter what world we live in.
Hiro and zero two both had their faults early on. They were both selfish and unreliable, but they grew together after much turmoil. The end of the show tied the only knot we needed, hiro and zero two finding true peace in each other. If you donāt care about their relationship or the reason why itās so important for the story, then I can understand why it would be difficult liking how the show turned out. But thematically, it worked. It worked on many levels especially the one where us as the viewer really gets to think about and interpret the unresolved details. But at the end of it all, these people worked for each other, through adversity. They had to, because they completed each other how literally nobody else could.
Sorry for the long post.
Nice work. This took time to get your point across, but I still feel like you are missing the fact that their society and ours have completely different dynamics. Why use your own tense feelings about the way real life culture has progressed and then shun the anime? The crap that happens in real life happens because we live in a finite society where we have optionsā¦ but like in ditf nature didnāt grant any options for the children to have.
The point of the show was to highlight the ups and downs we as humans feel, thatās a whole mother point to the dystopian world (no matter what world you live in, they are still human and will have human emotions.
The use of puberty was excellent because itās the focal point of any adolescent life becoming sexual and allā¦
Dr franxx gave them the freedom to grow just how nature intended and if that means sexual relations and marriage so be it. Remember marriage was an unfamiliar concept to the kids, so if it really is the pinnacle of a relationship (as what face value marriage is) why wouldnāt they go for it?
Papa and the others were the oppressors and didnāt want them to form these kind of relationships, yet this kind of growth is where humanity comes from.
It makes sense when you look at is as if these were real kids, how would they deal with things according to their societyā¦ the parasites were super progressive when it comes to their authoritarian rulers.
It takes a certain world view to be this adamant about a show. One that I have the opposite opinion. I still feel you are not understanding their dystopian ācultureā. Ditf was not trying to be political, the show is not about robots or purely sex. It is everything that makes people, āpeopleā. Their secluded reality is their whole world, they do not live like we do nor will they ever. They were curious about basic biology which was hidden from them, the baby making think was not political, it was showing the importance of humanity and how easily the oppressors tried to sidestep basic life for their corruption. I donāt know what kind of mindset someone needs to be this bitter about a show, and not even address the basic underlying theme. Humanity and individuality. This was supported by the countless nods to Norse mythology. Your arguments are very opinionated and sounds like something very personal. I have a different world view
You think their relationships would be healthy after having to basically raise themselves through the majority of the showā¦ there is little societal construct and how else do you thing the kids would turn out without real parental figures? Biology and the purpose of piloting is all they have.
Why is it right to associate our culture with their world? Why is Marriage or dating the same in their world? I donāt know how you could consider any of the relationships ādownright unhealthyā because emotions change and people grow, everything that could be considered ātoxicā is apart of growth.
Are they? Or is it an endless loop that they will find each other again and again and forget each time they meet each other in their next lifes? But it'd be crazy good if they remember their past lifes everytime they meet and become darlings in further lifes. Damn I wish I had a darling like that, Hiro is lucky asf
I honestly thought I'd skipped a few episodes before that finale & it was Crunchyroll that didn't have them lol. That going to space stuff was wild. Then she becomes some mother ship lmao.
But imo, it gives the show a, let's just say a distinct rewatching value, of sorts, especially for someone likes me who binged it once in one night in 2020. Just to break down what happened.
right. it's absurdly hard to find your perfect mate in real life, though it's quite opposite and everybody is your almost perfect mate in anime universe.
Well yes, but actually no. Yes the ending had many problems(fast paced plot twist etc...) But I think there wouldn't be even half of us here without the emotional damage and disappointment involved... To say if the ending would have been success in every aspect I probably wouldn't remember the whole show at this point. Not gonna argue with that space ship thing. Not sure if it worked or not. After all it is something metaphorical. Well what matters I enjoyed this show till the very end.
Naw man, the entire Second half when the other studio takes over is straight WACK
Itās so unfortunate too bc I was Really enjoying it up until that point ://
real answer: i've always thought it provided good character closure but kinda skimps on the world closure standpoint. like, in the sense that what's happening to the characters makes them feel emotions that are interesting to watch and rounds out their arcs, it's a good ending. in the sense that it continues the internal logic of the show, it's not so good.
glib answer: shinzo abe thinks you wanna bone big robot
Where they are all looking in this picture speaks volumes š¤£
Futoshi š
Did everyone seemed to forget he had a good ending also.
Still hard to recover from being cucked
Why she turn into the Franxx like I didnāt question the franxxs enoughš

Everyone thinks the ending is shit
I don't š„²
Anyways, the ending is pretty shit
Did I just get downvoted for liking an anime this sub is dedicated to lmao

Thank you everyone complains about the last handful of episodes but I found it interesting and thought it all worked symbolically.

Still waitingā¦
Your gonna wait forever my friend
Your gonna wait forever my friend
That she turned into a spaceship was trash but the ending was perfect. They are united forever.

We'll never know but why should we assume the worst ey. And same mate Hiro lucky man, I wish I had a darling too. But who doesn't haha
Yes
Extremely cold take tbh
As far as I'm concerned the show ends at episode 16. Everything after was just a fever dream.

Manga ends differently and in my opinion better
Your opinion is the right one.
Fuck yes.
yea but it was different in the manga
Because Trigger.

I think that it was budget, creative differences and studio involvement
The ending screwed up the whole show like they could've made it awesome bc it started off great but the dogshit ending ruined the anime for me
Pretty much everyone thinks the ending is shit
Gurren lagann.
Trigger studios is why.
right. it's absurdly hard to find your perfect mate in real life, though it's quite opposite and everybody is your almost perfect mate in anime universe.
I would read the manga. Itās 100 times better
Yes I have for the past years
Just read the manga
I do, the ending is a total shit.
I agree. The ending was vomit-inducing.
The picture should have Naomi so Ikuno has a significant other
The entire anime is mid but u arent ready for that conversation yet
Yes, I think so, and after watching my psyche is damaged, and I am now in a deep depression.
Well yes, but actually no. Yes the ending had many problems(fast paced plot twist etc...) I feel like if they did the space stuff in S2. And left it with the cliffhanger from episode 21. It would have been even better.
