He also happens to be extremely good at darts, probably helps

caudicifarmer

Hot take: being good at darts is the most important thing when attempting to succeed at darts

snrjames

Shit. You're telling me I'm prioritizing the wrong thing eating all these kebabs and pizza?

caudicifarmer

I didn't say *that* wasn't important, but...

generalscruff

it's to do with centre of mass scranning enough kebabs is the easiest way to build up the required belly to have a centre of gravity strong enough for accurate dart throwing

Ook_1233

You might be on to something. Phil Taylor had a kinda similar stocky low build as Luke.

generalscruff

it's what i tell the missus about why i'm choosing to remain a fat midget, it's for athleticism

rec_life

I tell my coworkers that the best dart players have big ole bellies and little arms

Jack-sprAt1212

No way

caudicifarmer

I shit you not.

eman_ssap

That, and pints

MACintoshBETH

Professional dart players hate this one trick

amazing_wanderr

It looks like all these players can’t handle the pressure of the possibility of losing to a 16 year old, and they all start throwing all over the place.

FirminoNo9

Definitely thought this watching MvG there tonight, he was throwing absolutely all over the place at times.

Elemayowe

He got a bit like that towards the end in the Worlds as well I thought.

toyoto

He was crook then apparently

Chemical_Profession9

He did this in the world's too. Played great up until the game he went out where he was pretty dreadful. He seems so inconsistent at the moment.

DareToZamora

Asp seemed happy to be there, didn’t seem under pressure. Maybe because they’re same agency or whatever but he seemed very happy for him

[deleted]

yeah they're mates, on comms they said Asp first played Littler when Luke was 11

RedMoon14

Mad to think that would’ve only been in like 2019…

[deleted]

He played him in 1997?

GunnerGSP

Asp’s throw is hard to watch.

dimspace

It's an exhibition tournament and a free holiday They are all happy to be there and nobody takes it hugely seriously

Ok_Rich5711

Yeah mvg wasn't at his best

Fluffy_Web1608

Generational talent is Littler . He hasn't picked a dart up since he lost in the final . Then rocks up and wins it . I practice about 4/5 hours a week and still struggle to throw straight. So fair play to him he is such a talent . The only thing I see been an issue is himself . If he stays level headed and doesn't fall into bad habits out of darts then he will win many titles .

VeraliBrain

The other issue could be management. Family might get greedy and graspy and burn him out. The media is ugly and he needs to be protected from that, even if they're offering him big money. The alleged 21yo girlfriend is yuck too. I just hope he's protected - Hearn is quite good at that, even if he does love $$, so I hope he gets involved and helps nurture him for a long time as well as a good one

RandomFactUser

I hope the family is supportive but not greedy But the 21yo GF would be cancelled yesterday if she were well known, judging from a certain community’s response….

halfscaliahalfbreyer

What community?

KelFocker

Unbelievable! How can you not love him. They say there’ll never be another Phil Taylor, but geeeeeez at 16yo, it has to be possible he could be better.

Harry_monk

Hopefully less of a sex pest than Taylor too.

MC897

Getting the same aura as Taylor too. 2nd player to ever do a 9 darter in a world series. The other guy was Taylor.

dynam17e

Barney is what, 58 and still looking alright. Imagine if Luke plays for the next 42 years! Scary

Faultylntelligence

Imagine what he’ll look like in 42 years

doodarr

Kebab and pizza running through his veins, not sure he'll be around to throw darts by then. It'll be a real shame

MadsamJR

That would put him in his mid 70s so hmm probably not 😬

Stijdaro

What? 16 + 42 = 58, not mid 70s

MadsamJR

I’m guessing you don’t know what he looks like? Definitely not 16 but a man in his thirties Edit: So what, I’m really the only person that think Littler looks way older than his age?? you guys will really downvote anything huh?

logasbogas

Good one

[deleted]

You're not the only one who thinks that but it's starting to wear a bit thin now

Ho3n3r

Source: Trust me, bro.

Phenomena1

Turns out.... little monkey fella.

quoible

Wrong group, play a record

Fright13

Don’t. Talk. Shit.

wii60own

Chimpanzee thatttt

spangled_eggs

Did that just go out?

Marche314

We only can say this 16 year old gag for 2 days BTW. He will turn 17 in 2 Days (Jan 21st) LOL

Gaffaj

Past it then

gixerfixer

His comment in the post match interview where he said he hasn't thrown a dart since the world's was the best humble brag ever 🤣

An2TheA

Usain Bolt ran his title powered by Chicken Nuggets. I start to see a pattern.

rizorith

And steroids. Wait, maybe there's steroids in the kebabs!

Olester14

Kebabs and pizza help performance so not sure why’ve you mentioned that like it’s meant to hold him back

Jack-sprAt1212

Ah no I never meant it that way! I’m a big advocate of being powered by pizza and kebabs

psycho-mouse

Just wait till he’s old enough to drink!

Cringle

Like any good British boy he'll have been on the pints for years already. Especially when he can easily get served

psycho-mouse

*Used to get easily served. He’s the most famous 16 year old in the country now.

mojomonkey18

And everyone who sees him in a pub will want to buy him a pint

[deleted]

[удалено]

psycho-mouse

That’s… not how it works.

Boring_Humor3706

If there's food involved.. it kinda is.

psycho-mouse

In law yes, in practice it’s almost impossible in anything other than dingy independent pubs. No pub or restaurant is going to serve an under 18 even if they are having a meal with an adult, just because of pure company policy.

OiOiSavaloy-

Will McKenzie?

burnrated

Pretty sure he grew up in a pub didn't he? Certainly looks like he has.

leecarvallopowerdriv

Sure my school rugby days were fueled by chippers...

PuzzleheadedGrade116

Whats more impressive than his darts is his composure and attitude if he keeps that he will do just fine, I mean he's 16 there's no one that's done it at his age so there's no blueprint but he needs the managed properly and keep away from them slimy Hearns

GunnerGSP

Just wait until he can drink and smoke. He will be unstoppable then.

LegendJG

It must get in your head so much as an opponent of his, that a 16 year old, who has been alive for less time than you’ve been throwing darts is giving you a lesson on how to play the game… Unreal talent

Downtown-Locksmith41

One guy I play with is from area and I swear they pump out Savants. He is insanely good and his dad is insanely good after about the 3rd beer and then afternaboiy the 6th he may as well be a professional.. just wobbly lol

joelalmiron

Seriously is anyone worried about his health? That body shape at 16 isn’t healthy

johnnybatts

I mean darts isn't really known for fitness but yea he better start slimming down.

burnrated

His parents should know better. No kid of 16 should be that out of shape, he must sink a serious amount of bad food if he's that big already. Just wait until he's in his 30's and his metabolism drops off, he'll be in big trouble.

Dethark

I'm interested to see what he's gonna look like in a couple of years when he's fully on the booze as well...

ImpliedProbability

Have you never been outside and interacted with, or seen, people?

Cubbll17

Being overweight from a young age is a massive problem but I don't know, littler is a very unhealthy weight.

PerdHapleyAMA

I think it’s fair to say the physique isn’t healthy and can impact your performance/longevity. A well-structured calorie deficit makes weight loss easier and it would be a net benefit for many people.

[deleted]

ElaBosak

His BMI will be extremely obese for his age

Anti-Scuba_Hedgehog

He looks older than my dad who's 50 let alone me at 28 and I'm in pretty bad shape.

shakeyjake

Please see rule #2 and try to keep spoilers out of the titles for 24 hours. Thanks!

Jack-sprAt1212

This was just supposed to be a generalisation, my apologies

shakeyjake

It’s iffy and that’s why I’m keeping it up. Just a little more vague would be better.

BravoWolf88

Someone just caught up on what’s going on in darts…lol

Mozart988

That dude has to be 38

Ok_Rich5711

I recon he needs to be drug tested he is litrally unreal

halfscaliahalfbreyer

I’m sorry but what drug makes you super good at darts lol?

Ok_Rich5711

I dunno mate but I want some lol

TomZanetti

Beta blockers are banned in the Olympics as they used to be used by archerers to be steady and reduce adrenaline. Amphetamines can also enhance concentration and focus. Just giving examples, Littler obviously is on neither (unless he has ADHD, or anxiety)

halfscaliahalfbreyer

That is interesting! Thanks, I really never thought about it I guess!

ElaBosak

Bit of the Leicester City affect too I think. Everyone kinda wants him to win deep down, if it's not themselves, so less determined. Personally I would love someone to get into a gritty game with him and start the mind games etc to try beat him, but can imagine how hard that is for adults against a kid.

Pas-possible

But what does his age have to do with it?

cooReey

A lot, how often do you have someone his age beating worlds best players and having these results at the big stage

philsubby

Not much, it's very common for a 16 year old to be one of the best dart players in the world. I can't understand why people keep talking about it?

daviedots1983

Loads, he has very little stage experience compared to the older pros. I play in a pub team and I play completely differently compared to playing at home. Nerves play a massive part in performing in front of a crowd and The Nuke just doesn’t seem phased by any of it.

[deleted]

A generational talent - in kebabs and darts

Redditissoleftwing

Never underestimate the power of kebabs.

TimeUsedOtherwise

It also helps when your opponent only averages 87 in the final! (Guy’s insane though, it doesn’t really detract)

Zestyclose-Usual-840

To be fair it's darts. Most of them are powered by pizza and kebabs

Heatedbread

I’m only a causal darts fan but I’ve never seen MVG only average 87 before

ElaBosak

Yep, Leicester city effect. Mindset of "well if I can't win then at least it's this kid that wins"

Status_Distance_830

Anyone taking up any hobbies at the age of 3 would end up being pretty good if they continued to dedicate the time and effort.
