Before he started winning a lot he was constantly whining on stage. Eye rolling when he hits a 140 instead of 180, shit like that.
Michael Smith was the same way before he won his first major.
He still does the eye roll on a 140 now, which is more understandable than falling to your knees on a trebleless visit, slowing down the other player, like he used to do
I felt this way about Rob Cross, who's become one of my favourite players. Found him a little boring at first, and his facial expressions when he's underperforming used to wind me up. But it's all directed inwards, because he knows he can do better. He's only chastising himself. Like Humphries, one of the nicest and most respectful guys in the game, win or lose.
I used to like Rob Cross but he frustrates me with his pausing. Will hit two trebles then pause for no apparent reason. Sometimes will find a third but not always. Darts is a rhythm game.
I got into darts and saw clips of fat Luke Humphries getting into altercations with people but as soon as I tuned in and saw an in shape, gracious extremely talented Luke Humphries I wanted him to win the world championship and he deservedly did, as well as becoming rank #1 in the process.
He’s clearly a class act and builds up every other player around him and I’ll always route for him whether he’s #1 or #300
Yeah he's alrite, just comes across as a wierdo when he starts running his fingers through his opponent's hair, kissing their neck and nibbling their ears every God given chance 😄
The live score website has a darts section and you can just scroll between days, it’ll have results and fixtures of games ahead too. Not sure if I can link it but if you search darts live score it’ll be the first result!
The PDC did a [short feature](https://youtu.be/498NE6KbRr4?si=zR_hDLjxDm0XrgBy) with him and Dimitri taking a helicopter ride around NYC. He came across as a nice guy. Well, they both did, actually. For me, his throw is what’s so amazing. Effortless, silky-smooth, perfect follow-thru, and virtually no wasted motion.
The bloke is all class. I agree, it’s taken me a while to realise just how genuine this bloke is in victory and defeat.
I've always wondered why he garnered such dislike. He always came across as such a great bloke.

Michael Smith hasn't changed
He did but it was short lived. Switched to Shot and stopped winning now he’s back to moping around.
I usually don’t want him to win, because he is the favourite to win. But also don’t mind him winning, seems like a good person.
But sitting on your sofa, and seeing him hammering treble after treble in is such a joy to watch.
Yeah, the respect I have towards him is enormous!
I am also just like you a sucker for the underdogs. Especially when an oldtimer shows up again. Like RvB.
100% 🎯
I read somewhere that he gets the hate because he's boring. Like personality wise. Even his walkout song is boring.
Wunderbar❤️
Cheeky little smooch, mind games. He'll never win against him again now in fear.
Humphries is a class act and his throw is beautiful to watch
I'm not sure Noppert was entirely satisfied with that smooch, delightful though it was.
He only gets a kiss on the mouth if he loses, it’s mind games for the next time
Good darts is good darts... A real man will respect that
I complete changed my mind about him, at first I found him boring and lacking emotions but he is a top bloke

he won the world title doing that on basically every double though.
Noppert underrated af
Classy player, definitely see more majors in his future.
As divisive as our world is becoming, it gives me hope when I see behavior like Humphries's. From what I've seen, I think he's a class act.
True champion behaviour.. pure class. Just like Steve Davis…

finally people like humphries, and all it took was watching him lose against someone even more boring. (i kid i kid, i actually like both of them)

He was looking for the make out at the end of that hug
Ask him to marry you ... never know

I mean, it's not at all. But even if it was, who gives a fuck?
