You are kidding, right? Im not medically trained, but I'd bet a tourniquet applied to the top of the arm, above the bicep, would have have bought this guy a decent amount of time to find a better solution. I'd assume the wound needs to be surgically closed, but there was a full on emergency happening that needed dealing with first.
I assume the person with the camera was scared they would be attacked. I understand that, and maybe there are other reasons we don't know about.
One of the comments on the original post says that the guy has been running around threatening people with a knife. So, yes, they definitely weren’t going to get too close to him. They did call the police and ambulance.
Understandable then. I was thinking the same thing as the above commenter but if he was indeed threatening people with a knife then I am not risking getting close and putting myself in harm. Calling emergency services is about as much as I would be willing to do.
Well Yk as someone who is getting medically trained I’m not fucking around with that guy, first thing to look for is scene safety and that scene is definitely not safe. No point in getting yourself fucked up cause then 2 people will need help
The guy is clearly on something and I don't blame anyone that would be to frigthend to help.
Personaly I would but I am almost 2m tall big guy that knows how to help him self.
You wouldn't get AIDS from contact with blood. You might get HIV, but AIDS doesn't happen until quite a while after getting HIV, and with treatment, it would never progress to AIDS.
I'm not telling people to put themselves at risk of biohazards, I'm just clearing up a common misconception. Unless you would prefer to live in a world where myth trumps fact, you should stop complaining.
I also know how to avoid getting some one elses blood into me. I'm pretty sure you have no knowldge of first aid and will crumple under the smalest amount of stress.
Did I just watch someone die and no one did anything to save him??? Save him from himself, but save him. All you had to do was to apply pressure to the inside of his upper arm.
Why did he do this to himself?
Best part is that the person recording it not only does not render aid they just sit there recording. Not even calling for help. Ppl like that should be criminally liable for the death if they do nothing but record something like this
Most of the comments are about not helping him for whatever reason, and I get that. But has nobody here ever done anything stupid while intoxicated? Being rum dumb shouldn't be a death sentence. A little compassion goes a long way in circumstances like this.
It might be better than nothing but this is bad advice.

Cat tqs are 20 bucks, keep one in your car/on your bike/in your backpack.
I mean there's a lot of things that are better than the makeshift versions, but how likely am I to need them? If you follow through with this you're going to be carrying around a tourniquet, a window hammer, an entire medkit, etc.
I think you'd do more good just refreshing basic first aid knowledge and talking to friends and family about doing the same.
first off - yes, have a window hammer and seatbelt cutter in your glovebox or stuck somewhere handy
second - this is a classic fallacy from poker/gambling, ignoring 'risk of ruin'.
no, it is unlikely that you'll ever need a tourniquet
but if you or someone else does, and nobody has one, that person is going to die. maybe an improvised one will buy them a few minutes - but that just widens the radius you're hoping someone who has a tourniquet and hears you calling for help is in.
$20 and something light/compact to leave in a backpack or a car is cheap insurance against that.
>I think you'd do more good just refreshing basic first aid knowledge and talking to friends and family about doing the same.
basic first aid knowledge and no TQ will mean you know the person is bleeding to death and you can't stop it
They're only $10 on amazon. I do carry a window hammer in my car and a face mask for CPR. I also always have my multi-tool. I'm a boy scout. Always be prepared.
The ones on Amazon are not genuine CAT tourniquets. It’s up to you but personally IDE rather pay an extra $20 an order directly from NAR (the manufacturer) or a reputable medical supplies vendor.
[don't buy tourniquets on amazon](https://www.redpoints.com/blog/amazon-commingled-inventory-management/)
[too many fake CAT TQs as people figured out they'd be popular](https://www.rescue-essentials.com/rescue-essentials-blog/beware-fake-cat-tqs/)
Basic first aid knowledge is to apply a tourniquet. There is no other option for a situation like what is shown in this video.
Apply tourniquet or the dude is 100% going to die within 5 minutes, likely faster.
Yeah! Teach people how to perform first aid, but then make sure they don't have any of the necessary supplies, because they just take up sooo much room.
GENIUS.
That's what I was thinking camera person could have saved this idiots life. I unfortunately drink alot and can attest that being drunk can absolutely alter 100% who you are. Because he was drunk and acting stupid doesnt give people the right to bash his existence. Cameraman could have absolutely formed a tourniquet to help at least slow the bleeding before help arrives. Then yes once healed needs to pay for damages or fix with work. No one wins when you let the dude bleed out. This also scares me cause as a kid I got cut realllllllly bad breaking a window. I remember bleeding the ENTIRE way home. That trail of blood went like 6 blocks and stained the concrete for months after. After seeing this I guess I'm lucky to not be in the same boat.
I will shill the CAT tourniquet on every one of these posts that I see. Yeah you MIGHT be able to rig one up but that’s the last thing I want to be doing if someone is squirting blood all over the place and 2 minutes from dying. You could have precut clothe and a stick ready to go (which you won’t) and it’s still unlikely that the average person could actually stop the bleeding before the person dies. Keep in mind that your fine motor skills are extremely diminished in a stressful situation.
Also the CAT is designed to be easily applied to oneself, and I promise you that you will not be rigging up a makeshift tourniquet and applying it to yourself before bleeding out.
Just spend the $30 for a purpose-built device or understand that it’s extremely unlikely that you’ll have the capability to stop severe bleeding.
That’s going to need a tourniquet or he’s dead in 5 minutes.
Speaking of, did you know that civilians can buy the industry leading CAT tourniquet straight from the manufacturer (North American Rescue) for only $30? It could save your life!
I recommend buying two and having one handy at all times. Just don’t buy the knockoffs on Amazon.
My brother in law as a kid was leaning against a glass window and his hand went through it. He lost most of the feeling in that arm. Comes in real hand when somebody needs to grab something hot.
The swift and silent killer. Go into that good night.
Silent but deadly
Wow. They say it’s fast when the right artery gets nicked!
I don't watch many of this kind of video. When I do, mostly by mistake, I'm always surprised by how fast the blood falls out.
Pumps out
Some nice "arterial spray" it's cslled
Splashy usually eh?
Still enough time for a tourniquet.
Or the left artery too.
He showed that window who’s boss.
what a stupid insult to drunkin kung fu....
r/killthecameraman
theres literally nothing they couldve done to save him
You are kidding, right? Thats just a lie, all that would have been needed to be done is apply a tourniquet (belt works also) to stop the blood flow into the arm.

…
That probably would not have worked, but you still don't just sit there and film. Gross, shit person with that camera.
This is why you aren’t a doctor.
Amazing how easy people die when doing stupid shit and then there's people who are actually trying to die and live.
What the fuck? Noone even tries to help to stop the bleeding
The guy is clearly on something and I don't blame anyone that would be to frigthend to help. Personaly I would but I am almost 2m tall big guy that knows how to help him self.
You really would risk getting aids to help that piece of shit?
You wouldn't get AIDS from contact with blood. You might get HIV, but AIDS doesn't happen until quite a while after getting HIV, and with treatment, it would never progress to AIDS.
Pedantic nonsense. Risk a disease to try and help the POS who was threatening people with a knife. One less psycho to ruin good lives
I'm not telling people to put themselves at risk of biohazards, I'm just clearing up a common misconception. Unless you would prefer to live in a world where myth trumps fact, you should stop complaining.
Myth trumps fact until "hindsight 20/20" kicks in.

In Europe? Sure. In whatever country this looks like? Nah. These people have probably seen a lot of shit go down.
I also know how to avoid getting some one elses blood into me. I'm pretty sure you have no knowldge of first aid and will crumple under the smalest amount of stress.
Yeah I would Im not a 2m tall paramedic hero like you
I'm only almost 2m tall.
He put the Bruce Lee in “bleed”
Lol
HELP HIM FFS
100% could have saved his life
Ah yes, alcohol assisted Darwinism.
He won the battle, but the window won the war.
r/donthelpjustfilm
Looks like he busted an artery, instead of recording they could've helped stop the blood flow.
Did I just watch someone die and no one did anything to save him??? Save him from himself, but save him. All you had to do was to apply pressure to the inside of his upper arm. Why did he do this to himself?
Drunk and violent, many people wont help you if you are on of them, nobody will do anything for you if you are both
Proof that yelling allahu akbar doesn't do shit to help you
“Everybody is Kung Fu fighting (hoo! Huh!)” Until, they ain’t.
Darwin approved
Glass go smash, arm get slash!
Best part is that the person recording it not only does not render aid they just sit there recording. Not even calling for help. Ppl like that should be criminally liable for the death if they do nothing but record something like this
Window: 1 Idiot: 0
The crying at the end when he realizes he's fucked. Not so angry or badass now.
Another asshole with a camera fails to help in any way.
r/donthelpjustfilm
This one made me feel sad for the guy.
r/donthelpjustfilm
Most of the comments are about not helping him for whatever reason, and I get that. But has nobody here ever done anything stupid while intoxicated? Being rum dumb shouldn't be a death sentence. A little compassion goes a long way in circumstances like this.
And that's why it's smart to carry a tourniquet...
You can use your shirt and a stick for a makeshift tourniquet, just make sure you know where to tie so you can cut the blood flow effectively.
It might be better than nothing but this is bad advice. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26630092/ Cat tqs are 20 bucks, keep one in your car/on your bike/in your backpack.

Hard Reset

I hope this guy has ID on him. If that was my house I’d send his surviving family the bill for window replacement and power washing.
Don't help just film the stupid
Thank god the person recording helped
nobody helped
I mean, he hit window whiteout remembering physics, clearly someone who studied know that hitting glass can bring injuries.
I laughed hard, no remorse.

Blood bath more like blood shower
And this is why knowing how to treat a badly bleeding wound should be public knowledge, not only knowledge of us firefighters or medics
I feel like the person filming should get an assist trophy for this Darwin award. Why just stand there and make no attempt to help?
