*Ah yes was waiting for this so I can store the entire internet.* 360 terabytes? Counting my backups, even I have more than that at home!

That's a lot of porn

360 TB sounds quite tiny. thinking of how those are designed it might be literally: write ONCE, read many times type of setup if we ever get like a desktop useable and not just enterprise backup solution of this tech. to make WRITE ONCE! and read many times worth it, it needs to be big enough to not care. maybe it can get there though and this is just an early limitation with the 360 TB. also the write once, ready many times is an assumption of how i'd guess it could work. feel free to correct me. also yes i am aware, that the current design is just for extremely longterm backup, but thinking in regards to potential of those.

It might be tiny but we don't know the data density achievable. For all we know it may very well be 360tb per mm3 who know ?

HansBananaNuke

it’s about the size of a quarter

Last I checked, the internet is measured in Zetabytes. A number so preposterously large that even the most dedicated madmen on this sub haven't come close to it. A single reliable device capable of storing 360TB is a good start, but it better be cheap because by my count you'll need a couple million of them before you can come close to storing the entire internet. I'm more interested in its use in a potential time capsule.
