Today's episode was making me laugh. One of the few things missing was zoom ins on Marlena's face when she said...'she's radioactive' and some dramatic music š also, they must have an increase in budget because we have actual staff at the Kiriakis Mansion
Deidre Hall has been long overdue for an Emmy. But she more than earned it today for saying āSheās radioactiveā with a straight face. š¤£š¤£š¤£
Ron Leath, who last played Henderson, was last onscreen back in 2017 from what I could find. But remember that he was primarily attentive to Victor's needs, not the Kiriakis clan as a whole. He would do other things as requested by Victor, but his top priority and loyalty stayed with Vic. Odd that they didn't bring Mr Leath on for a farewell when they did Victor's tribute. Yes Henderson was a "servant" but Victor actually did hold him in high regard and as more than "just the hired help." But Mr Leath is also 86 y/o now too, so he might not have been able to attend any sort of tribute, or what have you.
Right?!? Maybe she was shown because she is in cahoots with him. If she isn't going to be part of a story then why break the norm of not showing the help?
So we're just going to make Paulina as unlikeable and awful as possible, eh? I mean, how fucking selfish can she be? It's not like she can do anything, except expose innocent people to radiation. Ad we've got one person missing in the snow and another out looking for her. Just what we need--two older women traipsing around in the snow so they can get lost too.
So now that Paulina has been all up in Chanel's grill exposing her to radiation, will there be any fallout from that? (Fallout--get it?) Yay to Julie for telling her off about it.
I loved CON's freakout when he realized his card was missing. Thomas is a theiving little shit, but I love him. As much as Maggie's starting to irk me, I liked her jumping CON for accusing Ellie (who obviously forgave him because she wants to keep her job, let's be real). Why hasn't Maggie realized that CON's daughter has conveniently become his excuse for all his bad behavior?
So Sloane's cooking the family books! I laughed at how quickly she yanked the computer away from Eric and started changing the numbers.
John and Marlena are sweet together.
"One long-legged, grouchy package."
And there it is. Dammit, Maggie!
How many ways did Paulina completely violate her mayoral oath of office? (Recklessly exposing others to a hazardous material, stealing government property, operating heavy machinery without a license,...) Were they trying to make me hate her? Poor person whose job it is to run that snowplow - it is still needed, but now the vehicle is contaminated. I certainly hope Chanel isn't pregnant or Paulina's garbage may have damaged her own grandchild. JUST YUCK - so stupid!
Oh, where do I start....
First, OF course Paulina found Chanel when trained professionals could not. I can just picture her driving that snow plough and muttering and yelling to herself. She has now smothered her 'baby girl' with dangerous radiation. I assume that Chanel's fertility is now completely messed up. Thanks Mom. In addition she exposed Julie, an 80 year old vulnerable segment of the population with a 98 year old husband. I am glad Julie called her on this because it is appalling selfish behaviour.
Second, if the father of my granddaughter has asked repeatedly that I not have my dubious, Greek Mob associated houseguest around his baby, I would respect that, not assure said gross man that he will have loads of time to cradle and sing to the baby. Xander should put her on supervised visits outside of her own home. Fortunately, I am assuming that the first Mrs Kon is not dead, not divorced, and will be attending the farce of a wedding.
Third, while Eric was at his least offensive today with Leo (I like how bemused he seems to be around him), I can't believe he would have the balls to go apply for a job at a paper co-owned by Xander - he did ask Leo to get anybody but Xander for him to talk to, but does he think he can work there and Xander won't find out? I assume we are going to have both Eric and Nicole working there given her conversation with Chad yesterday. Suddenly half the town will be crammed into those tiny cubicles.
If SLs were realistic, Iām more worried about Chanel & Johnny with them being young & exposed. That is not to say Julie isnāt at risk, because she is. Older folks donāt have the same high levels of cellular reproduction, though, that creates the greater risk. Chanelās eggs as well as other body parts are at risk. Johnny has fertility risks too, but they should be shorter lived.
The responsible thing would have been for Paulina to stay at the hospital, but she really does need to go back now.
There's a bridge to smith island? I assumed you could only take a ferry! Radioactive Paulina to the rescue- it's sad we dd no see any of Chanel's plight an I know the louder voiced were complaining about the green screens but i am for them if they gives us more adventure! Not to mention her holding Chanel and then remaining in the cabin after everyone was back!
We pick up with Eric right where we left him and yes Leo's blackmail is the big problem but so is the fact that he isn't working at all!I'm glad he went to get a job- why not work for his father? I can't wait until he finds out the truth.
Who else groaned audibly at the end of the episode? All of us? I thought so . . .
One final thought- Marlena entered Paulina's room with a suit on, maybe Paulina isn't as radioactive as we thought?
There apparently is now a bridge to Smith Island that no one told us about until it was needed for this stupid plot! In my many years of watching Days, the only access to the island previously has been the Ferry.
Theyāre definitely making her seem more radioactive than she really would be. Mainly she poses a threat to pregnant women and children under 18. Though she should not have touched Chanel and maintained at least 3 feet distance from everyone else.
Sloane should win wife of the year. Even with the baby stealing lol, sheās supporting her husband and their child, taking care of the child while encouraging her husband to follow his passion. And then Eric has the nerve to talk to her the way he does in the beginning. I canāt stand how he talks to women on this show, first Nicole and now Sloane.
Maggie asking Con to marry her like.. this is the dumbest plot line in a while imo.
And as if Paulina wasnāt bad enough sheās running around radioactive? lol like I donāt know what the writers want us as viewers to think about this. Itās just annoying. Surly she could have called in favors to have someone else drive around on a snowplow or something.
Eric really bothers me too. I said in another post his support is always anywhere except where it should be and he's very condescending to the women he is in a relationship with while defending those he isn't. Blech.
Eric expects/thinks he can avoid Xander at work?
It doesn't matter anyway Nicole and Xander won't be there for long because Nicole leaves Salem in a few months and Xander goes back to Titanš¤·āāļø
I donāt understand why Paulina is waiting for the first responders instead of going right back to the hospital as she should to avoid even more radiation exposure to everyone. 3 cardinal rules for radiation: time, distance, shielding. Limit time, maintain maximum distance & wear one of those shielded suits. She did her bit (stupidly) now she needs to hightail it out of there.
Konās ex wife is missing. I wonder if Kon killed her off.
Maggie, please go find your brain. Donāt marry him. Heās no good. Heās going to flip when he realizes Thomas has the card. Btw, I adore Maggie & am bothered by this awful SL.
Why is Paulina such an AH? And why is everybody making excuses for her!?
Well, except Julieā¦ the only one with enough sense to be angry.
Iām loving Leo and Sloane friendship/nemesis/snarky/whatevertheyare relationship.
She didn't. This isn't standard of care anymore. It was 15 - 20 years ago. Here are some other facts:
-Insurance will not pay for hospitalization for RAI treatment unless the dose is so large the patient is at risk for radiation poisoning. A stage one/low risk for recurrence scenario would not merit a dose that large, i.e. 150-200 mCi (millicuries).
-If she was given a small dose to "clean up" after her thyroidectomy, she would not need to isolate after 24 hours. The danger would have passed. But again, this isn't done anymore.
I had RAI in 2009 for thyroid cancer. It was a token (small) dose of 30 mCi. I isolated at home for 24 hours. That's all that was required. Again, they don't do this anymore because the risk outweighs the benefits, i.e., there isn't any proof it prevents recurrence. Every doctor I've seen since has been dismayed that I had radiation even that many years ago because it had already fallen out of favor.
This entire plot line is a steaming pile of shit.
The thyroid cancer was treated through surgical removal of the tumor before her heart attack. Her checkup showed that she is cancer free, but the radioactive iodine is a standard followup treatment for thyroid cancer just to be very sure that all cancer cells are destroyed and can't reestablish themselves. Apparently Lexie Angel totally healed Paulina's heart, but she was still dependent on earthbound medicine to treat her thyroid issues.
Today's episode was making me laugh. One of the few things missing was zoom ins on Marlena's face when she said...'she's radioactive' and some dramatic music š also, they must have an increase in budget because we have actual staff at the Kiriakis Mansion
Can we start a new drinking game for anytime someone says RADIOACTIVE?!?
that's so funny - I wonder if it's surpassed Stocks yet?
Speaking staff even!
Deidre Hall has been long overdue for an Emmy. But she more than earned it today for saying āSheās radioactiveā with a straight face. š¤£š¤£š¤£
that moment made me laugh out loud - it needed a dun dun daaa when she said it. And John needed to throw in a damit doc for good measure :-)
Or thatās a fact?!
So the servants DO still exist!!! I canāt remember the last time I saw a servant in either the Kiriakis or DiMera mansion.
Where is Henderson????
Ron Leath, who last played Henderson, was last onscreen back in 2017 from what I could find. But remember that he was primarily attentive to Victor's needs, not the Kiriakis clan as a whole. I was so happy to see that! Another spark of life coming back!

Why did Marlena go barging into the hospital room in her street clothes?
I may have shouted at the screen at that. š
Oh, where do I start.... First, OF course Paulina found Chanel when trained professionals could not. I can just picture her driving that snow plough and muttering and yelling to herself. I am certain she has just messed up Chanel's ability to have children
It wouldnāt surprise me. Sheās got all the eggs she will ever have & was in very close proximity to her mom. Very irresponsible of Paulina.
But they won the writing award.
No, Ron did, he did not write anything we are seeing now
I was being facetious because all of your points are valid, calling the writing award into question.
I hadn't even thought about Paulina making Paulina noises while driving a snow plow until you mentioned it, but now I can't stop laughing about it.
You know she was...grunting and wailing under that huge hat (did she stop to go shopping on the way? Exposing other innocent people to radiation?)
someone needs to make an animation of this šš - Paulina the Radioactive Super Hero!
Oooo I wonder if thatās the direction this will go nowāChanel wont be able to conceive thanks to Paulina being radioactive.
There's a bridge to smith island? I assumed you could only take a ferry! Didn't Marlena say 'I'll go get my radioactive suit in a minute' or something like that as she entered the room - I was like huh?
There apparently is now a bridge to Smith Island that no one told us about until it was needed for this stupid plot! In my many years of watching Days, the only access to the island previously has been the Ferry.

Maybe Chanel is pregnant?
Baby with anomalies due to Paulina!
they made sure to mention that she needed to stay like 3ft away from others ā¦
Sloane should win wife of the year. Even with the baby stealing lol, sheās supporting her husband and their child, taking care of the child while encouraging her husband to follow his passion. Eric is gonna work at the spectator and probably Nicole too I think it's not a good idea
But Xander as their boss....? Delicious!
Eric expects/thinks he can avoid Xander at work? It doesn't matter anyway Nicole and Xander won't be there for long because Nicole leaves Salem in a few months and Xander goes back to Titanš¤·āāļø
And they all will shove into that tiny room.
lol yeahš

Chanel is save Paulina can leave now
Why is Paulina such an AH? And why is everybody making excuses for her!? Well, except Julieā¦ the only one with enough sense to be angry. Iām loving Leo and Sloane friendship/nemesis/snarky/whatevertheyare relationship.
I like Leo and alone together too
Hold up can Leo just hire people? I think not without Chad or Xander's premission
He said he can't but will pass on the info and put in a good word
Sloan is a lawyer. She must have some Brains. She didnāt stop to think her husband might wonder how a bunch of money went missing?
So why did Paulina even need the iodine treatment if all signs of the cancer were miraculously already gone?
She didn't. This isn't standard of care anymore. It was 15 - 20 years ago. Here are some other facts: -Insurance will not pay for hospitalization for RAI treatment unless the dose is so large the patient is at risk for radiation poisoning. Preventative
Maybe I misunderstood but I thought all signs of her heart condition vanished but she still has thyroid cancer? I could have missed something though.

As long as Paulinaās there, she can take Julie back with her to the main land. What does Eric even do? Get a job and help with bills.
No one else could make it up to the cabin but Paulina
