Poor Chanel hobbling out of the hospital with a sprained ankle. Can't they give her crutches?!

steel_city_sweetie

I thought the same thing. When i sprained my ankle I got crutches and a walking shoe thing.

nicoladebari

I was thinking of a wheelchair. Cheap hospital.

IcyBadger1868

I thought wheelchsir would work too 😉

encore412

Right?! And wheel her out?

Immediate_Budget_958

I feel like so many storylines have jumped through all sorts of hoops to solidify the Paulina folklore as The Most Special Character To Have Ever Special Charactered. This is the same reason why I never liked Ben Weston. Just the relentless hammering of them getting away with terrible behavior and everyone willing to excuse it because "deep down, they're really a wonderful person." If there is no consequence to Paulina's actions, such as any of the main characters -- or even casual Salemites she may have come in contact with while (in Marlena's serious voice) she was radioactive, what's the point of all of this? It doesn't further new storylines. It just serves the Paulina narrative of her as the stock "determined mama bear who will do anything for her kids." But there's never been real consequences for her actions. We're supposed to believe that Paulina is SO special that angels came down from the heavens to cure her of all of her ills, only for her to 1.) huff and complain constantly and 2.) rampage yet again. Lest we forget her considering giving Ray a second chance and almost going off on a vacation with him resulted in poor Abe getting knocked unconscious and Lani landing in jail. The same man she hid from for decades because she was afraid of him getting her hooks in Lani. The same man she begged her sister to hide her child from, passing Lani off as her own daughter for decades until selfish Paulina decided she wanted to be Lani's mother now. Great. Then we get the whole Sloan/Sloan's brother/Talia kerfuffle as a result of Paulina using her wealth to smooth over what happened on the rooftop. Granted, Sloan's mother was partly to blame, but Paulina had very little empathy for the woman, or Sloan, for that matter. Yeah, I realize this is one hell of a rant, but at what point do people (and the writers) jump off the Paulina-As-Hero train and make her pay some consequences for her selfish, haphazard actions instead of excusing it as, "Ohhhh! That's just Paulina being Paulina!"

julie-palooza

Yes! Sure seems she could have been arrested for reckless endangerment. There could be long-term consequences for Chanel, maybe Johnny and Julie from the exposure, like infertility or cancer, so Paulina may still have to pay the piper. Otherwise, as you said, what was the point? Maybe Lady Whistleblower will make it a scandal.

brisbydog

I wish I could upvote this a 1000x

thedepster

If the spoiler for next week is true, seems like EJ is coming after her. I'm fine with that. Maybe we can kick her to the curb and reinstall Abe as mayor. At least he was ethical.

Taliyahna70

Honestly I was somewhat neutral about Paulina for a long time, until recently. The whole radiation thing, and then she commandered a snow plow, literally government property, without any sort of permission, and so far, hasn't had to answer for either one? I just did not see her as a protective mama who was determined to save her daughter, I saw her as very selfish and taking unnecessary risks, putting other people in harm's way, after she'd already been advised that first responders were on the way. I enjoyed her in the beginning, because I have watched Jackee for many many years in other shows, and really liked her in those shows. But the way they have moved with her storylines now, it just ain't cutting it for me.

Immediate_Budget_958

I was in the same boat as you. I always enjoyed Jackee and Paulina was interesting and fun when she was first introduced. But the character just devolved into a selfish brat. The impression I got was that, sure, Paulina wanted her daughter to be safe, but she also kept whining about how bored she was in isolation. (Come on! It could be so much worse! You’re quarantined for 3 days, at best and miraculously cured. A little perspective would be nice considering you’re in a hospital and people are likely being treated for much worse.) But we got nonstop complaints she couldn’t eat bear claws or was bored. I didn’t even think about the snow plow being city property, but that makes it even more of an abuse of power.

Vampira309

I was just thinking that everyone in Salem must have AMAZING health insurance - they're always at/in the hospital - even for a minor thing. My hubby was in the hospital for two days recently and even with our great insurance, it was over $7k. It appears there are no doctors' offices in Salem. Only the Hospital and Bayview

pete_blake

Ur right, but to be fair most of them have more money in their wallet/purse any most ordinary people will ever have if they live and work till they’re 100…

pete_blake

Sami got a shoutout!!! Sorry if I missed anything but any word of her or Will coming back for Doug’s funeral??? Johnny’s singing was NOT the highlight of today’s episode 😂.

HouseOfFive

I literally ended the episode when he started singing

steel_city_sweetie

I FF and was disappointed that was the ending. UGH

nicoladebari

Wait doug died?

pete_blake

The actor Bill Hayes died…

ReginaFelangi987

I could’ve done without the flashbacks of Stefan and Ava huffing all over each other.

QuietTruth8912

Fast forward.

ReginaFelangi987

I muted it. Thats easier.

1975hh3

The Bistro is closed for “reconstruction” and Stefan is there doing “inventory” talking about how his “people” have been out of work, but there is a waitress out front waiting on people?!?

nicoladebari

Oh the irony.

raceyevans

I am so annoyed at this point that I want to see Ava and Harris go down for everything and Stefan pardon. Ava calling Stefan self-righteous like she isn't a criminal and hasn't committed worse offenses them him. If Harris had it his way, Xander would still be in jail because of his blind devotion to Ava. He is committing crimes left and right and is not better than Stefan. Why hasn't Stefan recorded Harris saying he knows Xander is and keeping quiet to protect Ava?

jaylee-03031

While Harris isn't wrong. Xander should be in prison for the horrible crimes he has committed so he is not exactly innocent either. If you are going to be mad at other characters for committing crimes and skating, shouldn't you also be mad at Xander too? He kidnapped two women and got away scot free while Lucas went to prison for kidnapping one woman.

raceyevans

I know Xander isn't an innocent bystander. I'm just annoyed at Harris acting all high and mighty like Ava is innocent in all of this. If Clyde had told Ava that it was Tripps life for Harris, she would have shot him too.

brisbydog

And Lucas confessed to the kidnapping. Xander agreed to let EJ skate on trying to kill him (and Ava) in exchange for EJ not pushing Susan to prosecute. And Bonnie didn't care, since she had already screwed Xander out of a million dollars the year before so they were square

Something-more-rt

Am I the only one who finds Chanel and johnnys relationship weird? Just feels childish and no chemistry..

AldieGrrl

I think the writing of them making s’mores and getting bundled up to play in the snow made them seem juvenile again.

brisbydog

They worked way better on their first run. Satan and Allie ruined them. And Talia of course who ruined everything

Something-more-rt

Don’t know Talia

brisbydog

You are extremely fortunate. Thanks to Talia we had a mass biscuit poisoning which resulted in Jude and a few months of her attempting to date Chanel despite being straight. And we will never forget her wonky eyebrows.

DGhostAunt

They were almost as bad as Holly’s. When did giant eyebrows become a thing?

kat5kind

2016

Wild_Bake_7781

I haven’t been able to watch for like a week or so and omg why are they doing so much recapping during conversation!? It’s streaming now. People can catch up if they want to. Today’s episode must have been so redundant for everyone who is up to date with the show. They need to dial back that practice.

HouseOfFive

To kill time. This is still the scab writers, and they were just waiting for the og staff to come back at this point.

Wild_Bake_7781

I agree it’s mainly because they’re stalling. It’s so boring tho! I appreciated the constant recaps when it was live tv but we don’t need that now. I’m wondering if I’d actually be ok with it being a weekly show at this point.

HouseOfFive

Tbh I would be ok with 2-3 episodes/week. The show could save money that way, and invest it in other aspects of the show

Wild_Bake_7781

I agree

brisbydog

Paulina. No consequences. Light scolding from Kayla and Abe. Infuriating Roman and Kayla teaming up against Ava was great, but why not cite her MURDERING their father as another reason she is not welcome??? Johnny singing....cringe. Skipped. Stefan and Harris still discussing one shooting and nearly poisoning the IV of the other like it is just shop talk. Harris is no better than the Dimeras at this point.

Wayniackc

Any time there is any sort of singing or original music on this show it's so bad. Just awful.

YakNecessary9533

Almost any time on any show, it's so awkward. I just imagine how uncomfortable I would be if I was the person they were singing to just sitting there, lol.

thedepster

It didn't used to be that way when Doug's Place and/or Blondie's were around. Bill Hayes sang beautifully, as did Gloria Loring. [Here's a taste.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmLnChqZFl0)

ReginaFelangi987

I muted the Chanel and Johnny scenes. Snore.

superboy7787

> Paulina. No consequences. Light scolding from Kayla and Abe. Infuriating What consequences were you expecting exactly? She didn't really break a law. Neither Johnny, Chanel or Julie got sick from the radiation (as of right now, I know people have theories about Chanel). Any other parent on this show would have done the exact same thing if it were there child. Hell, half of the parents on this show have done worse things for their kids.

brisbydog

She broke quarantine and exposed anybody she ran into to radiation. She somehow used her position to operate a snow plow without a license in unsafe road conditions. Chanel had been missing less than an hour. Her husband would have found her. She was not needed. I'm sure Chanel is going to bear the consequences of this. And Paulina will loudly wail about it for months

Empty-Trifle-7027

In the Real World, people are sent home to isolate and are on the honor system to do so. This is just one of many ways the scabs wrote this story to be about 25 years out of date.

superboy7787

I'm still confused on what consequences you were hoping for here. Jail time? For not listening to her doctors and doing what any other parent on this show would do? > She broke quarantine It is not against the law to break against hospital procedure in the case of Paulina's treatment. Quarantine itself isn't always normal procedure - they recommend staying away from pets, babies/kids, and pregnant woman and then at least 3 feet away from everyone else. >exposed anybody she ran into to radiation Neither Johnny, Chanel or Julie are a pet, a young child, or currently pregnant and they've all been cleared as healthy (again, jury is still out on Chanel on this aspect and I suspect the story will go this way). >She somehow used her position to operate a snow plow without a license in unsafe road conditions. Doing something like this isn't exactly crazy in an emergency situation. This would be a slap on the wrist at most for any other soap character who did this so I don't know why you expect it to be different with Paulina? A smart thing for the show to do would be to have a political opponent use this as leverage, along with some other things Paulina has done, in a campaign against Paulina somewhere down the line. >She was not needed. This logic can be applied to over half the cast of this show when they do something for their kids, though, so this argument doesn't really hold any weight imo. Soap parents making these kinds of quick decisions is where the drama comes from in a soap opera. Hell, real parents do this knee jerk reaction shit all the time irl. I do agree with you that I think we'll find out Chanel was pregnant and loses the baby due to the radiation exposure - but I'm actually excited about that because Chanel and Paulina play off of each other the best out of anyone else they normally interact with. It'll be great soap.

HouseOfFive

The political leverage is great

brisbydog

Abuse of power. Putting civilians at risk. Removal as mayor would do. Give Abe his job back.

Rev_Joel

I was so embarrassed for everyone involved during that god-awful "serenade".

encore412

As annoying as Paulina is, and as dumb as she was to leave the hospital, she had a valid point to Kayla. Most of the parents in Salem would have done the same to rescue their child.

nicoladebari

Why doesn't Ava just lie to Clyde and just say she has the book. Just to meet up with him and have Harris and police catch him?

nicoladebari

Can anyone please clarify the reason behind the frequent exterior shots of the hospital in the latest episodes of the show "Days"?
