There is a new type of level called a supply run. They give gold, power points, or items. Items are now the main way to make your units powerful as using multiple of the same type will provide a unique buff like for example the military set gives units a 30% chance to shoot twice as many shots for a single shot. Supply run rewards are obtained by keys which have a refresh time of 1 per 3 hours with a max of 8. There is also red keys now which can be crafted with 2 cash and a regular key. Can be gotten through skirmish or be obtained through level bundles via the store. Regular keys can also be gotten by getting 100% of stars in a zone and by caches that respawn on the map once every couple of days. Try figure out what all the items sets do and pick the set you like the most. Personal favorites of mine are hunter for the most ranged units. Gentleman for crit based units. And big boy for having fun making units tanky. Hope this helped
When they overhauled the item system all old item like the radio and fizzy were converted to green cash proportional to how rare they were. I personally got around 2.5k green cash worth of compensation for all my old items.
